As i am sure you're aware, Oneplus recently told the public that they weren't going to support project treble with their devices. This only concerns the oneplus 5t but maybe with a bit of luck and community support, they shall do the same for their other devices on oreo.

As I mentioned above, I have posted this to spread the word about the poll. You DON'T have to sign it if you don't want to but it would greatly help us if you did.
Please post on the 5T forums if this is regarding your device. There are already 2 threads concerning the change.org petition in the 3/3T forums. Please do a search before spamming with repeat posts.
OnePlus also confirmed that they took the petition into account, and they said they still will not implement Project Treble into the 3/3T/5/5T.
Appreciate the effort but they are not going to do it. Had they changed the partition tables before release, might have worked out. As things stand and they will since they care about giving the 18 months life support and nothing more as such, Project Treble is a dead end. We can hope with the 6. If there is a 6 that is.
But then I still feel Oneplus is a way better OEM than many others out there that promise things and don't deliver without even mentioning anything to their customers. At least Oneplus talks, even if its sometimes to tell us we are screwed. Appreciate the honesty.
In the meantime, enjoy your 5T and support it gets till the release of P.
I'm googling while compiling this post but I just lack too much knowledge about aosp so I'm asking for some eli5 or just a link to an article where there is a well organized explanation on open source android development closely related to what I want to know here. (I prefer public sharing but PM would work too)
So, @tissot-dev (who is this? Xiaomi engineers?) published open source code for Tissot. (is this only for mi a1, who named it, when and why, what is it made from, is it build on aosp, if so in how many iterations to get to "Tissot").
What did @ghpranav do to become the standard? (What from his background contributed to his knowledge on this topic if known?)
Why can't we get a stable Oreo tree? How do we get to it?
Are unofficial builds contributing in any way and how are those built to be stable enough?
Why are officials running away from mi a1? (Few of them built a stable nougat but stopped, some even ditched doing simple fixes to make it fully functional)

I want to learn a lot more and contribute if enough of these concepts get cleared in my head, so it's a bit technical, but I made this post to help myself and hopefully others with a compiled list of errors my brain is generating and if someone is kind enough, eli5 please, or just share a link or two, I need a bit of guidance at least to help my brain generate some good kw args for googling.
Is it real to port Sailfish OS on our device or it will be to hard, or maybe impossible?

People have already tried porting MIUI to Mi A1 with no success just yet. But don't worry, a lot of people are still working on it.

I'm working on an MIUI 9 GSI but nobody knows if this is even possible yet. It's all Experimental and nobody has ported a DSSI to GSI before.

It's not impossible lol. Nobody just wants to take responsibility with the release because it could be buggy and it's hard to maintain. A few of us have it booting and working fine. My reason for not releasing it though is because I want to make a GSI instead to help stimulate Treble development.

You have booted into MIUI ? That's great, are the MIUI services working ? Since i read in an another post for MIUI 9 that the services were not working since the device couln't be verified from mi servers

I've given up on MIUI GSI so now I'm reviewing whether to release MIUI just as a normal A1 ROM.
I still have work to do on it - the ROM I have right now is handcrafted. I will ONLY release it IF I can finish scripts to completely automate the build process (i.e. open source the work). Please don't bug me about it.
I will post updates here as they come in. Exams are on at the moment so it could be a while.

For those wondering, the main reason I will not release existing MIUI is because it's a straight port of nougat base from 5x. It doesn't work on my TWRP and I cannot dual boot, so I will never use it and thus cannot support it. I will not be an irresponsible dev who releases things that he won't use or test.
New work is based on Redmi S2, which is 8.1 based and will get MIUI 10 quicker. Since it's different hardware and based on China ROM, there is extra work to do.

Oh really? Ha I had no idea, wasn't on GSMArena when I checked. If there's a global stable fastboot firmware for it then I'll switch to it's base. Cheers.
You can use Redmi note 5 miui 10 beta tester ROM for Xiaomi mi a1

Yeah it was launched a few days back here in India and infact the first sale went yesterday. So wait for a little bit for its firmware to appear on the website..! It's Redmi Y2..! All the best..!

It's only Nougat, so no I cannot use it.
I will never port beta ROM anyway, only stable releases. Otherwise I can't be sure if it's a bug with port or the ROM itself.
