Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Not Turning On - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hi people.
So i'm having a problem with my S7 Edge and i don't think it is common. A few weeks back I was using my phone and it would suddenly turn off and the battery would be drained too. After this first incident with the problem it happened more often, and the phone would start doing boot loops to the point where the phone just froze and turned off. When these problems occured it will usually need to be a problem where I do a safe boot (Volume up, Home button and power key), and everything will be fine (or to charge it if the battery drained), but recently, the phone just didn't work at all, to the point I waited for the battery to drain (10 hours), and try charging it, nothing happens.
So firstly I was watching a video and checking my CPU/Battery tempretures to see if that was the problem (the tempretures at the time were around 31 degrees), and mid way through the video it bugged out through the audio in a high screech and turned itself off.
I tried turning it on again but no response to the screen, i tried safe booting it, or every alternative booting option, it did not work at all.
Here is all the diagnostics and repairs I did, but no luck:
- Tried turning it on
- Different boot options (Volume up/down, Home button & power key)
- Cleaning the port for moisture detection
- Replacing the battery for a new one (Genuine one)
- Doing all of the above, with it on charge
- Connecting to a PC, but no detection
One positive I found was that when i put the phone on a wireless station, it would change colour to show that the phone is charging. I have however took the wireless out of the phone as it was in the way of the battery, and safely in my draw.
Before this final fault happened, I did do a recovery to a previous Android version, just incase if it was a software fault, but it wasn't. The phone is not rooted and I had it since September of 2016.
Is there any alternative options to do? As i'm running out of ideas to do as every solution on the internet is to turn it on, which i can't whatsoever.
The warranty is voided also as there is a crack on the screen lens, and it's way too much to pay for a repair.
I need some explination of why this is happening, so I can go in the right direction and not to waste money if i was going to a repair service, or purchasing the parts for myself.
Any help would be highly appericiated.

Check your installed apps to see if there any viruses on your phone. All you said are signs that your phone might have a virus (check how to remove it here: https://www.unlockunit.com/blog/how-to-tell-if-your-phone-has-a-virus/
However, there is a chance that you do not have any viruses on your phone, but at least you have to isolate this possibility.
Did you recall installing any app prior to this behavior?

This may be the case, however i can't turn on the phone at all. I tried every possible reboot possible, download mode, bios mode, safe boot, reboot, but nothing happens unfortunately. Unless i can do it whilst it is turned off, i can do something. I have a PC if i can do anything else with it.
I don't think I have installed any weird apps on the phone.

sounds like a brick to me. Not a lot I can thing of you can do.
If you place the wireless card back in does it boot?
IT sounds like you've messed with the internals, so possible you damaged something?

I don't particularly think that I broke it from the inside as it was behaving the same before i opened it. And when i used the wireless charging, it will only indicate it was charging or getting detected on that charging pad and not on the phone regarding a red led, or the charging icon

Have you tried holding volume down + home + power for 15 seconds and try turning on the phone again?

As mentioned in the description, I have unfortunately

[Q] Potential brick? Device not powering on

Hi all, i have a ZTE blade which i have rooted and flashed CM 7.0 successfully without upgrading the radio to GEN2. I've done this and much more without problems, however today for some reason the phone isnt even powering on. The only thing i did before was installing theft aware 2.0. Note that i dont have a SIM card inserted so it's unlikely that someone have sent a command that turned the phone into a... vegetable.
I tried removing the battery and trying to turn it on, nothing. I tried connecting it to the USB power charger without a battery, still nothing. This phone is supposed to be a birthday gift for my friends 30th birthday, so i'd really appriciate help getting it back to life.
Thanks in advance
EDIT: I've tried the following: with ADB devices the phone dosen't show up.
Trying entering field test mode with VOLUME DOWN + POWER key does not do anything. same result with VOLUME UP + POWER.
Tried different USB cords without success.
Have you tried holding volume up & down together along with the power button. Make sure you have the usb cable connected from the phone to a pc. So long as you have the zte drivers, it should show up in DFU mode in device manager (from what I remember).
I think from there you can flash recovery using fastboot again.
I tried that, nothing happens. Thing is, the phone dosen't give any kind of life signal at all, not even the button backlights turns on during charging. Could it be that it suffers from a hardware defect? Or is there more things i can try?
Yeah sounds like you may have a hardware issue; especially if none of the LEDs flicker on when trying the above.
hmm, ....out of ideas for now fella.
Any news on this?
I am having the exact issue, phone is like a real brick:
- Won't do anything when trying to press power and/or any other buttons one by one or at the same time
- Won't do anything with or without battery
- Won't do anything when pluging it to the USB/Charger, not even a led response
- I've tried with and without sim, with and without sd card, trie everything and still nothing, seems complketely without any kind of life inside. The only thing it does is get heat when you put it to charge with battery
I had it with cyanogen 7, max overclock to 710mhz, min arround 200, and it happened (turned off) 5 minutes after I installed Launcher Pro...
Any ideas?

I actually gave up and sent it in for service which returned me a brand new one. I suspect that ZTE dosen't have much of quality controls since a friend also suffered a case of "true-death" on her unmodified ZTE blade...
Similar issue here. If I press the power button (with or without any combination of other buttons) it just vibrates - no lights, display or sound. Doesn't power on so no fastboot/adb etc. Same behaviour with battery, charger, or both. If I hold the power button the vibration sort of pulses, a vibration every 0.75 seconds or so. I recently opened it up to get dust out from behind the screen, so no warranty :-(
Will ask at the shop what the options are for maybe paying for a repair..

Your issue is different than the one i had, you phone is at least being powered on since its vibrating.
Most likely you broke when you opened it or you simply didn't reassemble it correctly - if i were you i'd do it again and check that all the connectors are connected.
If its a software issue, you can always try TPT - total phone transfer. google it, i read it but didnt try it myself so i cant vouch for how it works.

[Q] LG G2 Won't turn on, cannot get to download mode

My AT&T LG G2 (plain D800) is rooted, and has Xposed installed on it (I'm not sure if this caused the issue or not), but here's what I'm having problems with:
I was playing a game, when all of a sudden the phone froze (no biggie, it's done it before, I've held the power button to force restart it, and it works), but the phone shut off on it's own, and would/will not turn back on.
Tge LG boot logo comes up intermittently when I hold power and volume up, but only sometimes. The phone has only twice now gotten to the AT&T logo, but freezes immediately and shuts down. I've tried literally every combination of holding buttons, for up to 70 seconds at a time, both on the charger, off the charger, and while plugging into the charger.
I cannot get to download mode, I cannot get to TWRP, and can obviously not boot into the phone. I had made no changes in weeks prior to this happening, so I can't see why or how something with my phone being rooted would cause the problem.
I've left the phone charged overnight before performing the actions (the phone won't even show battery percentage), so I don't think it's a dead battery issue. Everything I've read so far seems to say that the battery chip has died and needs to be replaced. Somehow I don't think it's the problem.
I'm fully willing to completely wipe the rom, and everything on it, as long as I can get the phone working again. However I cannot boot into download mode to use ADB or anything.
Is my phone completely bricked? Or is there a chance that the battery chip really is fried? Please help!
Update!
I left the phone charging some more, and decided to try volume up and power (while plugged in). The phone actually went into download mode for about 5 seconds before shutting off again. I tried doing the same steps, but nothing will come up again. It appears to be an issue with the battery on the device. Does anyone else think otherwise? Or will I have to send it in for a new battery? (The phone is less than a year old so I don't want to void the warranty anymore than rooting, which they wouldn't be able to tell since it won't turn on anyways).
Update Again:
I can get the phone to show the LG logo/download mode on a fairly consistent basis, sometimes showing a static screen (colored noise, not monotone), sometimes a blue screen, but it will shut off after 5-6 seconds every time.
Hey, I do not want to announce bad but by your description it seems that did you mother board, go to the lab to make sure, I had something similar and I replaced the motherboard and my phone came on time, check if the device is still under warranty has a good chance to replace you under warranty, good luck.

My Galaxy S5 won't start up... (black screen)

Hi everybody
I have a problem with my Galaxy S5 (no custom rom, official)
I normally used my phone, I locked it. But, after about 10 mins I tried to unlock my phone, but nothing happens
I tried to reboot, nothing happens. I tried take out and put the battery - nothing happens. So I searched on Google and tried some keys combinations, but nothing happens. My phone has about 80% battery. I tried to charge it in the charger, but nothing is happening (black screen, no notiffication light). Also I tried to put off my SIM and SD Card, but nothing happens
Do you have some skills in it? Can you help me?
Few days ago, I faced the same problem..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2853472
Then I'd to take it to the Samsumg store.. And they return it back in 2 days and said me it was a software problem..
I wanted to do a recovery reset, but i can't boot my phone anymore, also the Kies doesn't see anything, so. Did you really think that is a software problem? Because my phone won't vibrate at boot. So maybe it can be a hardware prob :/
EDIT: Phone started blinking red light... (nottiffication), I tried to charge it, but nothing...
Mate as mentioned early, same problem I faced..
It'll be better, if you return it to Samsung customer care..
You seem to be saying that the problem occurred unexpectedly. So presumably this isn't subsequent to a flash error, newly installed app or a trauma (dropping the phone, etc).
First ensure that your battery is charged, plug in the phone to a charger as well and try turning it on. If at all possible, borrow a battery from a friend's S5 or go to a store and borrow a battery for 30 seconds to confirm that the battery isn't the issue.
If the problem persists, then remove the cable and battery. Then put the battery back into the phone and press and continue to hold in this order, the volume down key, then menu key, then power key. Hold all three until the screen powers up (about 5 seconds). If this doesn't work.. the most likely problem is a damaged power key - try pressing hard or "wiggling" it to see if that makes a difference.
If you still can't start the phone, then see if a local cellular repair shop has a "jtag jig" that you can borrow. Or you can buy one on Ebay for a few dollars. When this jig is plugged into the USB socket, the phone should automatically restart.
If all of the above fails (which is unlikely), you would seem to have a hardware problem or unknown origin. Which would be very unusual. If your phone is under warranty, make a claim. Otherwise get an estimate to repair it.
.
If I hold all 4 buttons at the same time and connect the phone to PC, PC recognises the phone for a few seconds. Well, maybe not recognises, I cant see it, but it plays the same sound as if connected flash drive to pc. However, everytime it disconnects within a few seconds...
I´m in the same case, but I was flashing the Galaxy S5 with the four files ROM and the pit file using Odin3.09. All the process ended well, but after rebooting there apeared one Screen sayin something like "Some files at this phone are encripted and there can´t be modified......." so I did a manual reboot and take off USB cable and from this moment the phone don´t do anything but giving a sound when I plug USB to computer cable and I can see new COM --> Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008, and there repeat a loop.
I´m still looking for a solution, but it gives me that there is time to change phone.
Possible Fix
This thread is old but idk if this was ever solved, so in case anyone else ever has an issue like this. My Gf is still rocking this phone so i've had a little experience with it. The phone wont turn on or charge. I got it to work by sticking a flat head screw driver and prying it fairly hard against the bottom of the battery (the side closest to the charge port) and forcing the battery harder against the metal contacts. While pushing the battery I turn on the phone and it starts right up and continues to run even after letting the pressure off. I've noticed this happens every few times i take the battery out, but this method has never failed for me turning the phone back on. Hope someone finds this helpful.

weird, youd think that bending the tabs out to force contact with the battery better would do the same trick fwif

[SGH-I337 AT&T] Unmodified, Stock SGS4 boot loops, freezes, graphical bugs HELP!

Hello everyone!
My parents contacted me asking for help with some phone issues that I thought would be minor but this is now something I have to submit to you guys because I just don't know how to tackle this issue;
I've got an unmodified, completely stock AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 that has been owned since launch. My parents were initially complaining about how the phone stopped charging and wouldn't turn on. I thought, "Easy, dead battery, it's been 3 years so how could it not? It might not be delivering enough voltage for the SoC..." but i'm not sure that's the full story which is why I want your guys' opinion since this place is a wealth of knowledge.
Things that are known:
When you charge the phone, the basic "battery charging indicator" that is shown when Android is not booted into or powered on freezes, or sometimes does not detect a battery so does not even turn on. Doing battery pulls seems to change how the phone responds. This is what my parents were experiencing. I thought, either dead battery, dead micro-USB cable, AC adapter, or charging circuit within the phone. Since this was obviously a big job, I took the phone back home for this weekend to play with and now this is what i'm experiencing.
So I got the phone to charge using one of my AC adapters for some reason, despite using the supposed broken charging cable to transfer data successfully without corruption using my own phone (LG G2) to confirm if it was just the cable. So now the SGS4 has a battery that is 100% charged, I turn on the phone and tried various methods to get the phone to boot successfully back into android. The first obvious one was to boot into safe mode using PWR, letting go of PWR, and then pressing VOL UP. It booted ONCE or TWICE successfully into safe mode into android, it shut off after 5 seconds being into the system due to low battery. This was BEFORE I was able to successfully charge the battery to 100% with my AC adapter but has failed to boot since.
Now since I've been failing to get into safe mode as when I boot the phone up, the phone freezes or has graphical glitches at the Samsung post/splash logo as seen here:
After some desperation, I considered using KIES/Odin to reflash, but mostly I tried going into download mode to see if the phone would even go into it by doing PWR + VOL DOWN. It did get into download mode but it froze/restarted forcing a battery pull and ever since then I keep getting occasional error messages such as "System software not authorized by AT&T has been found on your phone.", or this screen with a Samsung logo and an open padlock. I notice sometimes that when I'm at this open padlock screen, it sometimes begins to boot into the system but quickly freezes when it plays the boot jingle:
At any rate, I ordered a new battery but I fear this might be EMMC corruption or just something I don't quite understand. The phone has valuable information that I have to recover despite my parents CANCELLING a backup of the phone, they failed to heed my due diligence and are now freaking out about the data (photos, contacts, etc). I just need the phone to boot so I can make a nandroid backup, export the contacts, transfer media off the phone and wipe this thing and start anew. However i've already let them know that it might not be possible. The most important thing is to get this thing out of this soft-brick?
Please help because I have no idea where to steer this ship from here on out aside from waiting to receive that new battery and hope these instability issues are caused by low voltage. I had an SGS2 which had the crazy EMMC bug so I'm hoping its not EMMC corruption.
Thanks for your time everyone! I'll update this thread to reflect new information as I play around with the phone.
Edit: Here is a video, I go through a lot of the same information posted in this thread but here it is.

Possible loose connection inside the phone? Was the phone every bumped, dropped, or exposed to moisture?

Not that I know of. I'm going to check the water damage stickers if I can to ensure that's not the case but i've been told it was sudden. It had been dropped once before but had been working fine for quite some time up until recently.
Maybe the effects of the drop and manifesting themselves now?

Note 3 not turning on. Sudden death? Hardware problem?

Let me start from the begining.
So the other day I plugged my phone into USB in order to charge it (I had to keep it close to me hence why I didn't plug it into the wall charger). The phone was charging, showing up as a media device on the lappy, etc. I was doing stuff on the computer then I heard it vibrate so I went to see what it was. The blue notification light was on (facebook notification most likely) and when I pressed the Menu button the screen didn't come on. I also tried the Power button but same thing. So I decided to restart the phone. Since then, it hasn't turned back on.
I tested the battery in another device and it's working perfectly fine. Neither recovery nor download mode work. I tried to do some of the tests people recommended for sudden death, like plugging it into usb and leaving it for a while, trying to kick start it (putting battery in while holding the recovery buttons) - you name it, i've done it. I even went to the lengths of taking off the back cover to see if theres any crap that got in there, maybe a loose connector, anything burnt - nothing. Unfortunately, I don't have a multimeter to see if there is a charge running through the board. Looks like sudden death to me, the only thing is - I rooted the phone on the 1st day I got it and I don't live in the country where I bought the phone so sending it over for warranty repairs would be a pain in the ass. What can I do? I would greatly appreciate your help, if you manage to help me fix my baby, I will ENSURE to send you a donation for a nice, big, cold beer (or maybe a few).
Looking forward to any answers! I really need my phone, I use it for work.
It seems like a hardware issue... you need to take it to a local store to scan it's hardware.... maybe something gone wrong while charging which made something be destroyed inside it..... hope its not the motherboard.....
it happens sometimes, when charging current fluctuate, it destroys the charging circuit and in result it damage the whole current circuit, local repair shop can solve the issue.
