how to change the default icon in an icons pack? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys,
i have a question about an icons pack, when i use it with my launcher, everything work normally but some icons, i don't like them and if i open the icons pack app i find that there are other icons for example icon for "Phone" app there is 8 different designs and settings app has 6 other designs ...ect. but how to change the default one by the other in the icons pack app ?
i hope you understand my question.

With Nova prime hold and drag any app too edit on the top of the screen. Then in that box that pops up just selecting the icon picture will bring you to the icon pack selection. Then from in there the individual icon you want. I'm sure most launchers work in a similar manner. Just look up your launcher on google or youtube and how to change individual icons will get you a tutorial.

Enable developer options and can change the icon shapes.

I figured that just want to throw it out there just in case you where. Yeah that's not possible with a stock launcher as I mentioned before if you can invest in Nova launcher Prime. Widget Resizing

I can't seem to get the widget's to resize. I'm using ADWLauncher EX. On the infinty which I also had that launcher, if I wanted to stretch out a widget to fill more space I would just hit resize and drag it and the widget itself would get bigger and fill in the space, however on the Nexus the widget won't resize. Does anyone know a solution to this?
Widgets (in my experience) can be resized with stock launcher and Apex Launcher. I imagine Nova Launcher can also do it. Not entirely sure about any other launcher though, or why it wouldn't work with ADWLauncher + Nexus 10 :/

I am use the Apex Launcher
I can't residze only eWeather HD widget with apex but I can resize it with nova. WHY?
I figured it out, for whatever reason the allow resize widget option became unchecked in adw. Maybe you just need to find that option in apex and enable it.

Nevermind I got it. In case anyone else stumbles upon this thread with the same issue, you go to
ADW Settings > System > Advanced Settings > then check the option called "Overlap Widgets". This will allow you to resize the widgets to your specific liking.
Glad you figured it out.

I'm guessing on your phone when you hit the menu key it doesn't show theme so go to settings/Home screen and it should be there.
Depends what you mean by theme. I am pretty sure the stock phone can really just change wallpaper and move icons around. With root access you can install the Xposed framework which allows much more customization which is probably what you want, and with custom launchers such as Nova or Apex you can also do wallpaper changes and run custom icon packs. But maybe the theme you saw was nothing more than some UCCW widgets, IDK since I haven't seen the one you are talking about.

The stock launcher on the G2 has a theme changer and comes with two themes that change icons, walls and the clock widget maybe more. So its basically good for changing icon packs and then just reset your wallpaper after you get the icons you like. Yes you can use Nova or whatever and customize icons to your hearts content but I prefer the LG launcher and I'm thrilled they added this.

I'm on the at&t variant and I can't find the theme option anywhere either. I'm guessing they took it out. I can still change individual icons by holding the icon, tapping the purple brush that pops up, hitting Menu and selecting a theme I've installed from the previous thread and then they all show up for selection. This only works for individual icons though and will not help you change the app drawer button, which is the one I wanted to change.

Wow that sucks, makes no sense. I know carriers add bloat but didn't think they touch anything in a UI. This is the theme manager on the G2.

I've got nothing that says theme anywhere I assume it would be. Checked Home Settings and Menu on the Home Screen. Nothing. I'm really bummed about that. I wanted to change the app drawer button so badly. Damn.

I don't think just flashing yours would work. It might but the guy needed all the files for the models he was building the mod for from the devices he was building for. I think it would need a little more than just swapping it.
And I tried that mod. No theme ability on the at&t version of the phone. Still.

I believe the international and Verizon version have the theme chooser, along with the Korean version. It allows you to switch to the Marshmellow stock theme, and others to come in the future. However, I think its apparent that the At&t version is missing this functionality. Would it be possible to add it back in an APK?

You'd probably have to wait for a dev to add it to their ROM
T-mobile version has it.
There's an internal application I found with system tuner called home chooser, don't think its enabled though. Anyone with another carrier version know if this is what were looking for?

How to remove google seach bar from home screen?

It is Annoying...
I don't believe you can. Have to use a different launcher.
The easiest way is to use a different launcher as was mentioned. I once went on a mission to remove it from the native launcher and it was way more trouble than just living with it, if you keep the native launcher. Now, I use that search bar all the time .
But if you want to remove it, here's what you need to do:
1) Unlock the bootloader.
2) Root
3) Use a root app, to uninstall or disable the "Google" app.
Once you do this, you will notice other issues, it really screws things up, when you kill the Google app on a Google device.
I'd recommend you use a different launcher. Or learn to love the Google Search Bar.
Nova launcher

Nova prime. Easy. Cheap. Way better configuration options with third party apps like "screen off and lock" which gives you tap-tap shut off screen functionality! Many more reasons also. Go with free version first to see if you like it. Then pay for the perks and to support the developer.
ADW will hide the Google bar.. ')
Nova sounds pretty nice, I'll have to take a look at it.
I have been using ADW launcher for years now and it was one of the first things I installed on my new MotoX (pure). Like others I wasn't to happy with the Google bar on top of each page so after some searching found "under Screen" settings that I could disable or change the style of the "Actionbar".
Then under "Gestures" I set as to hide upper & lower bars with single swipes and also found that I could recover the Google bar using "2 Finger Swipe" and hide again with same Gesture.
So as of now ADW has accomplished all the task that I wanted done, and seems to be performing quite well.
I have read and see on their site that it has been some time since ADW has had an update, but as mentioned it is still performing quite well. "fingers crossed" I only hope it cooperates ok with the upcoming Marshmallow upgrade that hopefully will be released soon.
If not, I will certainly be giving Nova a more serious look.
Many thanks to all the Devs and other contributors for the wealth of invaluable information that is made available to all.
Unfortunately I'm still a new guy, which at my age is flattering. lol
But I have yet to earn the privilege to post images, so please feel free to PM for links.

How to remove Lock Screen Wallpaper!

So, I was looking for a while how to remove the wallpaper on the lockscreen to match the one I have on my homescreen automatically. Some apps that apply wallpaper don't give you the option to select to change the lock screen, and the only way is to go through the touchwiz system wallpaper chooser, and it will prompt. Otherwise, I might have found a solution??
The trick is very simple, head over to the galaxy store and install good lock, then from the good lock settings uninstall it, and it will remove the lock screen wallpaper and it will match your homescreen if you change your wallpaper a lot. I also found if you changed the theme, you'd have to re-do the process over again. Make sure to select your favorite theme first before you do this.
Did anyone find a simpler solution? Please share if you have one!

Interesting... I was trying to figure this out to use with Muzei. I'm wondering why note 7 doesn't have the ability to choose lockscreen and homescreen wallpaper the way older galaxy's did.
Anyway will try this and report back
Um, all you have to do is go into your gallery, choose pic, choose set as wallpaper, and then select lockscreen..

Yeah but that only selects the wallpaper, it doesn't do anything else. It doesn't match. The objective is to match the same screen. I'll try with live wallpapers and repot

What I did was took a picture of the wall with my phone flat up against it in low-light with my screen darkened. Then I edit picture in gallery (darkness down, contrast down). I did that twice then saved it as a perfectly black picture then I set my wallpaper (home screen and lock screen), using TouchWiz.
Thanks for the tip. Now my live wallpaper is also now on my lock screen.

Good find,
Thanks!
Why doesn't this work for me?! I want my magic fluids lock screen!!!!!
Works great, thank you. Nice to have again live wallpaper on lock screen.
Currently "good lock" app is not available on Galaxy store, but it is available here:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsun...lease/good-lock-24-0-12-android-apk-download/
Don't try other apps with the same name from Google play because it will not work.
There is also a way to do it. Download and set a live wallpaper as background on both desktop+lockscreen. Then unistall the lwp. There, both desktop+lockscreen should have a blank (black) background. Then when using an app like QuickPic that doesn't give an option to set wallpapers in both desktop+lockscreen, becouse all are blank, setting only desktop wall then lockscreen will also have the same (because it is transparent now)
Maybe some developer could make an app that removes the background wall from both desktop+lockscreen, that way it whould be much easier to do it.

Bug in OP launcher on OP6T

Noticed an issue in OnePlus launcher. Only original icons that come with the phone (OP6T) show dynamic calendar icons. i.e. Icon shows the actual date.
If we apply custom (3rd party) icons, the calendar icon is generic i.e. same date is displayed on all days. Some show 30, some show 31 etc. I have tried 5-6 different icon packs and issue is present in all. Somebody kindly check please.
Can no one check this?
Sent from my ONEPLUS A6010 using Tapatalk
Yup..just confirmed it. Only the 1+ icons work.. I would have never noticed this.
Same here, 6t oos 9.6.
Custom icon pack doesn't updates calendar icon, 1+ stock icon does.
Wonder when OP is going to realise this and post a update which fixes this bug!

It is current design.
If your apply 3rd party icon pack, the icon will be static.
You can edit calendar icon individually to resolve this issue.

Do they seriously expect us to edit the calendar icon every day to reflect the correct date? I get the feeling that they are not going to make any efforts to fix this. We will have to live with it!
Maybe the developer of the third party icon pack should design dynamic icons. This doesn't seem like an OP problem to me

It is a OP problem. The icons are dynamic right now. Try them with Nova or any other launcher. They become static only in OP launcher. Only those icons that are included with the phone are dynamic. It should not be too difficult to fix for OP. But......

Note OnePlus launcher isn't included ad one of the supported launcher by the IC n provider unlike Nova ,aviate ,action launchers respectively, this could be a likely issue, this has to be resolved by the 3rd party launcher Deb, who needs to include OnePlus's launcher support in his strings of codes

How is it a 3rd party problem?
Dynamic calendar icons (from custom icon packs) work on all custom launchers viz. Nova, CPL etc. But the OnePlus launcher displays a generic calendar icon which doesn't change with the day.
If we use included OnePlus icons, only then the OnePlus launcher displays dynamic calendar icons. This has to be fixed by OnePlus themselves.
Didn't OnePlus basically admit it is a design choice in their launcher and by design so how could it be a 3rd party pack fault (other than the fact that one is being applied at all)?
