do u mean that the sound is bad no matter what?
fwiw I have recorded probably 20 videos already, never noticed a problem with sound. I do not expect studio quality THX level sound though from my phone.

yeah, ur right. I dont expect a THX quality as well, but I just checked Xperia Arc does it in 48KHz and iPhone 4 in 44KHz and the iphone's sound quality seems quite good, but I guess it might have a better mic

Like... never??? When I bought my DHD I was like "I've had a mobile with a front facing camera for 5 years and actually have used it less than 5 times. So I can go along with the missing front camera." The only way to send video is with the rear camera, which as far as I know supports only higt resolution vidos. If it could capturre video at 640x480 @30fps that would be great for video talk, but only on high speed connection, cause of the data transfer.
Good news, finally I can see my partner again
As for video recording... Could be very difficult on our beloved DHDs. Without a front facing camera I would loose the "can see" part just gained with this update. However... If the rear facing camera could be used, you could hold your device in front of a mirror to see the screen (and your partner) again
Would be very interested in seeing traffic statistics...
Nice, hope I can use rear camera for video on DHD.

Ha! You made me laugh
I have tested mic from Xperia SP many times. For speak recordings its ok, but for music? It's... maybe not disaster, but not good. I dont know exactly what you mean by "really good" and "good bass", but for me? With internal mics (as I know SP has two microphones) its quite bad. I haven't tested it yet with headset, but better quality I get on my old LG GT540. Low tones are very rattling (I dont know exactly if that's right word, I'm from Poland too ) First I though thats speakers fault, but same issue on TV and Home Cinema Its impossible to watch movies recorded with XP where was loud music (especially with a lot of low tones) on sth else than Xperia herself.
And. Please. Code links

i tried and the result is that the phone use the external mic, so now the question is to find a smaller and compact external mic to plug in to record videos in parties and concerts...

Smaller and compact external mic.... Better... just by a camera. You can pay for good compact mic more than a mid-end camera.

i found the Edutige EIM 001, is similar to the edutige fro Go Pro & Go Pro 2, it cost around 20 euros, it sound really good, i think i'm gonna buy it, check out videos online.
It has signal noise ratio of 60db, really good for a compact mic...

Bad recording mic,you cant record music concerts very well

:crying::crying:
The mic quality is very bad if you want to record a nice music concert the music become very distorded..
I used to have the htc one (and the htc m8)with that device i could record a concert without distortion..
I think i am returning this device also:crying:
My last hope is the upcoming nokia 930..

unfortunately it seems that only apple has gotten the recording algorithms right...bring an iphone into the club and it reproduces the bass very well. too bad i'm not an apple user
If you want professional quality recording, why not buy this instead?

What a shame! you are totally corrrect, my Z2 is exactly the same, I took some amazingly clear video in a club the other night, the camera captured the scene in low light so well shockingly good video BUT when I listened the next day the sound is totally distorted ruining the videos!
I downloaded a Sound meter app on my Z2 and the wifes Galaxy S5, side by side they both give completely different DB reading, The sony is WAY too high! if you make a sound the sound meter jumps right up, where are the Galazy S5 is more stable. Unfortunately i cant find any setting in the phone to change the microphone sensitivity. so the problem is a serious problem that we are stuck with! SUCKS!!
SONY really need to fix this with an update!
Agree but look at this video

Yes you are right this add on microphone is a good option for planned recordings! But what if you are just out and about with just your phone, and want to video something, live singing, a party, disco. The sony Z2 can take awesome video but if its a loud environment or with a lot of BASS the sound will come through on the video completely distorted and impossible to listen. Sony need to do an update ASAP.
Here is a sample of the distorted audio. (shame, the video quality came out really nice the DJ was Plastic Funk live in Pattaya Thailand)
*** WTF, I cant post the youtube video showing the distorted audio because I am new to this forum. sucks! if you want to see it just search youtube for "Distorted Sony experia z2 microphone"

Anyone who have this? I am thinking about ordering one but if the problem is in the software is more problematic. If this makes recording at loud volumes way better it would be great!
Doomkernel allows to lower mic gain, that is why your recordings are ... over saturated.

Yes, the mic gain is up too much, I did a DB test, side by side to samsung S5, the SONY is way high.
Any help that you can give, how I use DOOMKERNEL ??

It isn't for the faint of heart and requires the bootloader to be unlocked, if you search the forum you will find the doomkernel thread. You might want to ask people in that thread for more help or suggestions.

Hi,
first of all, Iphones (no matter which) are recording only in MONO !!!! (you don't want that)
HTC, well I have owned a few and for me the HTC m7 with the Microsoft HDR Mics was the best from HTC's lineup (the HTC 10 is not even close)
I have a 950XL (specially for loud bass and concert recording)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HH1682eNMBk (the bass was so intense that it shook my body and the camera glass)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJHsvU9qE6Y (just a jam session)
Furthermore I have now the Axon 7 what I will try it out soon, but I am kinda skeptic cause during video recording the audio bitrate is only 94kb/s while 192 kb/s with the Microsoft... still really good so far.
The Axon 7 has an app (just like htc 10 ) where you can record hd stereo audio, now this is where the magic happens with a whopping 384kb/s and amazing audio.
I will try to compare both the (950XL and Axon 7 ) phones next week on wednesday, I will get back to you or just add me here, or on facebook I can share some videos if you are curious.

My OPO was terrible for recording at clubs and festivals and I was also deciding whether to take the OP3 or Axon 7. I've chosen the Axon 7 and was pleasantly suprised when filming with it at a party.
It records bass without losing all the other frequencies.
here are two samples;

Apparently I'm not allowed to post outside links since this is my first post so you'll have to paste it after the youtube url
Next week I will take it to a hardstyle festival in a stadium, this will be the ultimate test and i'll post my findings
I'm interested in the Axon 7 to replace my HTC one m8. Can you guys post more loud EDM events, preferably progressive house or electro with bass.

Last saturday I was at a Hardstyle festival in a stadium. Music was extremely loud but the recording of my Axon 7 is crazy good.
I filmed in 4k resolution and it look really good. Autofocus was way better with 4k than 1080p.
When playing back those videos, the sound is almost more crisp than it was in the stadium.
