Unable to install stock apps - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

On a rooted Moto G5 plus running 5.8.4 RR. How do I flash my stock Moto Apps?

With this (Magisk Module) you can install vendor apps from PlayStore or Manually, but some apps dont launch properly

Be aware, most of them won't work anyway even if you install them, especially Moto Display and Gestures, as the framework in the stock ROM is proprietary and not implemented in custom ROMs.

Also, custom ROMs already have active display and gestures built-in. Which stock apps are you trying to install?

Rooting and xposed leading to stuck in boot loop

I'm running stock marshmallow 6.0 on my x play rooted with supersu 2.62-3, latest xposed and ultra kernel r5.
Sometimes it crashes and results in a bootloop, I've restored the firmware from a backup everytime this happens (starting from 0, like if it was a new device).
Does any one knows why this happens? I've tried to not install xposed and the same thing happens. My guess would be supersu, but for now I'm trying to not install ultra kernel and everything is fine for now but I will report if it happens again.
What version of supersu is the latest compatible with X Play? ASFAIK it's 2.62-3 am I right?
I use BETA-SuperSU-v2.62-3-20151211162651 and Xposed 3.0 alpha4 & v80-sdk23-arm without any issues on 6.0.1
I recall trying different SuperSU versions and had boot loop issues when I initially rooted my device, a forum post pointed me to that specific version.
Maybe give that version a try if that is not what you are using?
Disable all the Xposed modules, then re-enable one at a time to see if a specific program is causing the issue.
Remove Xposed all together.
Remove ultra kernel r5?
Move to 6.0.1?
Something is causing instability. That's the order I would try.
I removed Ultra Kernel and everything's fine atm. I checked and some people are having the same problem as mine with ultra kernel.

How to enable multi users in Moto G4 Play?

Device configuration:
Moto G4 Play, Marshmallow 6.0.1, XT1602 harpia.
I have a rooted device, when i try to edit build.prop with es explorer by adding following codes to enable multiuser it stuck on bootloop on reboot, eventually i have to flush with stock firmware again
fw.show_multiuserui=1
fw.max_users=5
Is there any way to enable multi user in marshmallow?
I'm seriously considering whether to lose warranty and flash Cyanogen after Mister squid works his magic, just because of the absence of this feature .
I heard that if you modify your build.prop via ADB, you can achieve this without bricking the phone. Link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guide-modify-partition-root-t3240721
There is an Xposed module, not sure if it works for Android 6

Root, update to Nougat and hide root

Hi,
To be honest I am a bit bored of the standard ROM, having come from other phones where I root and have a play. I did try to root once and did so successfully and installed a new ROM (Was CM13 or 14 I think) but some of my work applications (email, calendar etc) and some games (e.g. Pokemon Go) require you to not have root.
I found some website links to use hideSU and Magisk but I couldnt get it to work when toggling, and was stuck with it showing as rooted. This was around 6 months ago though
When I try to do a search now, most of the links relate back to the old Magisk process which didnt work for me last time and is still 6-12 month old links. Does anyone have an easier, step by step process of how to root, flash ROM and then hide root?
I am familiar with flashing, so no issue explaining that - I just need to know what steps in between/after flashing I need to do to hide root.
Thanks
Install any rom with Magisk. Then go to Magisk Manager app, enable Magisk hide under its settings, and then install your applications normally. It's so simple. Don't forget to check root status in Magisk app. Sometimes SafetyNet shows as not passing, but there are fixes to make it work.
I personally recommend ResurrectionRemix and AOSP Extended ROMs, but there are lot of roms with Magisk now.
Ah, I have to install ROM through Magisk? I did mine through TWRP I think and then did Magisk, this might be where I went wrong. Will try again, thanks

Nope. Install ROM that includes Magisk (and gapps) through TWRP, then use Magisk Manager app that is included in ROM. Sorry for missing that part. Quote me next time so I get the notification.

Ah thanks, so need specific ROM that includes Magisk.
If i want to say install RR Remix, anyway i can flash the ROM and then Magisk separately?
Hi 3sixty , How did you succeed in hiding your app through magisk ? any positive methods.. I will be happy to know as I'm trying to solve a similar problem with my samsung galaxy note 5.
Flash any ROM, flash magisk, update magisk manager and enable magisk hide

Well, I never used Magisk, but i used to hide root by installing Root Cloak App from Xposed. So you have to flash Xposed framework as well. It used to work with most of the apps with android 4-6, except for 1-2 banking apps.
For Custom Roms, I recommend Ressurection Remix over all ROMs after MIUI ROMs. MIUI ROMs are available for other handsets as well and not just Xiaomi.

[Q] Is there a stock unrooted debloated ROM?

I'm planning to use this phone as a dedicated gaming device but there are games that still won't work even with magisk hide. Thanks!
If your N4 doesn't pass "Safety Net Check" that might be the reason. Download an app from Google PS to find out if Magisk Hide works as intend. If you have Xposed framwork or a permissive custom kernel, chances are you will not pass saftey Net Checks.
I know for my n910p there are stock debloated roms. Another option is to install TWRP on a stock rom and flash a debload scrip .zip.

[A202F/A20e] Can you install a custom kernel through Odin?

New to rooting and all that stuff, have some basic knowledge, and successfully rooted my A20e with a stock rom and Magisk.
Now I'm trying to boost the performance, as I can't play anything that's more resource consuming for more then 1h without many lagspikes, and wanted to try the Eureka kernel, but I can't use the recovery mode as that was changed by Magisk, and I'm not sure if it even works properly since whenever I start in recovery the touchscreen doesn't work, yet the root work in normal mode except that I can't modify anything in the system folders within apps like Root Browser, i. e. can't change the permissions.
So is it possible to install the kernel though Odin or something else external?
And do any custom ROMs improve performance?
