Agressive bacground killer for apps - Honor 8 Lite Questions & Answers

Hello.
I have model PRA-AL00 - for CN region. Installed latest update(b212).
My problem is agressive EMUI background killer for apps. Before 2 months I rebrand phone to EU version and all working normal(EMUI no killing apps in background) i getting notification for whatsapp, fb...
After back to stock(PRA-AL00 - CN version) i never see notifications on this version.
I add apps in battery->protected apps but did not help. EMUI again killing apps in background and i no getting notifications.
The only solution is locking applications in "recent apps", but after that battery is consumed 50% faster.
Any idea how to resolve this problem ?

Is there a way to limit number displayed in recent apps menu?

Hi,
I'd like to limit number of apps displayed in "Recent Apps" menu. Why? There is a small lag while invoking recent apps menu with lots of apps there. There is even visible stutter in displaying recent apps glowing backrground animation. I don't think it's multitasking performance issue becasue phone is working fine besides this, e.g. when I was using alternative app switchers. The lag is probably connected to renderning all those thumbnails. At the moment I just remove apps from there manually but it's kind of annoying. Is there a way to limit recent apps list?
PS. I know that removing apps from recent apps list is not killing processes and I don't want to. I just want to limit of apps displayed there to avoid lag.
Wait for 4.4 (the real one, not the current fanmade versions) as this will have updated drivers that will enable multitexturing in the UI, that'll get rid of the occasional choppiness.
I don't think it's possible to limit the number of apps in the taskswitcher.

Anyone know what's killing background Processes in these Note 5 port roms?

I tried out all the Note 5 port on my Note 3 and all of them have some type of background killing process that kills certain apps after a day or so. For instance Google Opinion Rewards app no longer gets surveys when running a Note 5 rom. HeadsUp Notification app stops showing Notifications after a day until rebooted. I thought it was the Smart Manager app but i removed that and it still occurs. I turned off Battery Optimization in Smart Manager and it still happened. Anyone know what service is included in these roms that's killing background processes?

Huawei P Smart: too aggressive background killing

Hi, I've a rooted (SuperSU) P Smart. I'm struggling with the background app killing policy: lots of apps that should remain in background and send me notifications are costantly removed (the system is also randomly killing the superuser process too!). For instance, Pushbullet is not usable, Fabulous doesn't start its rituals and so on.
Searching the net it seems that I need to add the desired apps to a "protected apps" list, but there is no such section on my phone. The only similar thing I've managed to find is "ignore battery optimization" (per app) in settings -> apps and settings -> battery, but no way.
Any suggestions?
Ok, solved... I made a factory reset, removed SuperSU and installed Magisk, the "ignore battery optimization" now works perfectly. The thread can be closed.

White background of icons, uninstall default apps, weather not updating

I'm having issues with xiaomi android:
1.
Some icons: ie. chrome, gmail, messenger have white background. Even in non-default launcher. How to force device to use standard application icons? But apps from xiaomi itself have transparent backgrounds (ie. settings)
What I googled is all outdated:
Themes - can't start in my region, so I changed region to HK (some bloatware installed, so anyone else - don't do it, trust your instinct, not someone on internet ), opened themes, downloaded limitless, it is same icons - I thought it would not work, it did not, it only installs bloatware.
Typical "advice" on forum ... please don't answer like that.
2.
I would like to uninstall some default apps.
Even apps like gmail and chrome are, system or something and I guess xiaomi still manages it somehow and for example gmail - even if I allowed it in autostart and set it as no restriction in battery I still sometime receive notification about emails with tens of minutes of delay.
Still some apps I just want to uninstall.
3.
Default weather app not updating weather on home screen until I lunch it and refresh. All automatic updates apart from [do not update between 23 and 7] are enabled, no restriction in battery manger (not possible to set even ), autostart allowed.

Unreliable Notifications

For the last few months I've been missing a lot of notifications on my S8 that previously worked flawlessly, both before and after I updated to Pie back in January.
Some apps like discord, Messenger and Snapchat need to be opened to check for new messages. If they aren't, a message notification can take anywhere between 10 minutes to a couple of hours to come through.
For each app I'm getting this problem with I've made sure that I've done the following:
- set the app to be not optimised in battery settings
- set the app to be allowed to run in the background in battery settings
- set the app to not be checked in memory in device care
- verified that no power saving mode is on
I've also done a complete factory reset of my phone and that didn't solve the issue.
I've noticed that in my battery usage monitor the apps I'm having problems with have no background usage at all. I have no problems with WhatsApp and it has hours of background usage each day but discord has 0m of background usage.
This leads me to believe the S8 is killing the app in the background. When I'm actively using the app (it's open or has only been in the background for a minute) it seems to work fine. But after a little while I'll stop getting notifications and when I open the app from my recents screen I see the splash screen as though I'm opening it for the first time and then after a few seconds I get the notifications from the last few hours.
I haven't been able to find any other settings that could be killing an app in the background that is both not battery optimised and not memory checked.
Any other people with this issue or know of a solution?
