Well after having my mogul for a year with only minor problems, it seems that it has finally gone somewhat haywire. The battery barley lasts half a day, my buttons seem to have stopped fuctioning, and I am getting tired of the limited free RAM. So I have decided to switch to the htc touch because it is not a necesity for me to have wi fi or a keyboard. Only thing I am going to truly miss is the flash on the camera, it was such a great flashlight. But anyway, does anyone know if it is possible for me to trade my mogul for a touch, instead of a new mogul, I have the Total Equipment Protection plan, and the price of the touch is considerably lower than the mogul (the price of the touch was recently changed to 99$ after instant savings and rebates). So does anyone know if it is possible to do so.

I know that the diamond is better, but I really can not wait for it because the battery life has recently become so bad that I need to get it replaced. Honestly up until my batter stopped lasting a full day I was ok with the mogul, but now I really either need to get the battery back to normal, or switch to the touch. Any ideas would be helpful. The battery life change may have been caused by my completley killing the battery and fully chargin it twice, or my installation of pointui home.

I agree, just get a new battery. I got the 1650mah OEM-size battery after using a year old stock battery, and noticed a huge difference.
I doubt Sprint would let you swap for free, so if given the choice of buying a Touch or waiting for the Diamond/Touch Pro, I would definitely wait.

Dude honestly, there are so many awesome phones coming out so soon and you don't want to end up getting a new phone that's already outdated. I say wait and just buy a new battery for now. That's how I feel right now.
check out www.seidioonline.com and select the 1650 mah battery, it's the same size as the stock one so it fits under the factory cover. Mugen puts out a stock sized 1800 mah battery and that's about 49.99.
I agree with everyone else - if it's the battery just get a new one and then the Diamond when it releases if you need a new phone.

I decided not to get a high capacity battery because I keep my phone in my pocket. The bulge from the hi capacity would just look awkward. So I chose to buy an external battery charger and a spare battery.
This is exactly what I bought. I love it! It comes with a spare battery for under $20 shipped. Later on, if you decide you want another battery to add to the mix, then it shouldn't be a problem. I have two of these set up. One at work, and one at home.

it should be noted the extra battery in that auction appears to be an 1100mah model, which is significantly smaller than stock (although it shoudl be plenty to keep the phone going while you charge up the stock battery)
If you have the TEP with Sprint, just go in to your local Sprint store, and tell them your battery is going bad. They should give you another. i ended up with 3 batteries for my 6700, for that very reason. Knock on wood my Mogul battery is still holding strong.

Only £10.00 so couldn't go wrong really. The back in my opinion is better than some others I've seen as it doesn't bulge out then in, but is flat apart from the recess for the camera.
The back cover is glossy and doesn't have the same quality paint job as the original which is perhaps to be expected however you can't tell unless you look hard, and you could always spray over it if you wanted to and have a matt finish. It fits perfectly.
I haven't given it a run yet to check the battery life time but it should be double what it is now.
Thought it might be of interest for UK owners.

Sounds very good... I like the fact that it doesn't add extra size or distort the shape of the device, as one would expect with a battery of such a capacity. As a result, although I already owned a 1350mAh battery, I ordered this one too.

Well, it is indeed interesting, but you are mistaken if you think that it does not add extra size: your d2 will be, judging from the pic, about 3 mm thicker. What the original poster meant was that those 3mm are constant over the whole backplate, it is not a bulge limitted to the battery. I think 3mm is acceptable, even if it mean it will not fit in any case :-(...
I'll wait a little bit to see if extended batteries fitting in the original backplate appear. Not 2 times the capacity obviously, this would not be physically possible, but a 1300-1400 mAh should be possible I think. Like your 1350 mAh for example Did you check the battery life compared to the original? improved, or not?

Well, I have a silicon case from PDAir, and my hope is that it can be stretched a bit to accommodate the extra 3mm... But even if it doesn't, I would still opt for the prolonged battery life against the case: My 1350 mAh battery is an improvement from the original, but nothing too spectacular. If for example I play games, or use the phone actively, I still have problems in making it through the day...
What I wouldn't like from a battery at all, is to seriously affect the size, or distort the shape of the device. But as far as I understand, this is not the case with this one... Who knows? It may even fit in my silicon case, as I mentioned earlier... We will know soon about that!
I think it's good to have a battery that lasts longer, but the bricks again no, it is better to have an extra battery and charger base.
This is the disadvantage of the MDA-Compact V. Overall a prettier phone than the vanilla TD2, but i'd give my back teeth for this battery...

The thinkness is more than 3mm extra, probably around 6mm, and I'd be quite surprised if a silicone case would stretch enough. As already mentioned I didn't mean the back was the same thickness as the original, just it was flat and uniform so didn't look as odd.
It does make the phone more brick like, I quite like it as it feels better to hold on a phone call, but will not be to everyone's taste, especially if you like slipping it into pockets. But for £10 it is quite a bargain if you really need the extra battery life time and apart from having a spare battery or a charging pack it is the best option available at the moment I think.
I expect the battery to last twice as long being twice the capacity. So far it's been on 100% all day even though I've had a couple of quick phone calls and sent and received a handful of text messages.
Case wise it will not fit a case designed for the Topaz, but now fits perfectly in a Tytn II case.

By the way, where did you buy your 1350 mAh battery?
Mine last exactly one day when I use the device a lot...Well, a lot for me: my typical heavy usage is not to use the TD2 constantly, nor playing much games...mostly I make a few pics, use the GPS a little and read ebooks a lot. I could theoretically empty my TD2 in less than one day... but in practice it has never happened, even if very close.
I think your 1350 mAh would suit me great, a little extra security and I will have the original battery as a backup when away from a plug for more than a day (typically, long plane trips...), this way I will not have to worry about saving my main battery to still be able to make an emergency call...
I think that given my use case, it would be better than this 2200 mAh, which is very nice, but too bulky for me :-/

Just bought the 2200 mAh battery. The size is indeed bigger, and although the phone's shape is unchanged, it does bevome more brick-like. As some people correctly predicted in this forum, the silicon case cannot be used with this size (although if the size was marginally smaller, I think it would work, but anyhow this is just theoretical...).
I believe that the choice of a 2200 mAh battery is just a matter of personal taste: I personally vote for the extra hours that I use my device even if I have to sacrifice the small size, but then this is just me...
By the way, does anyone know if larger silicon cases exist in the market, which can accommodate the thicker TD2?

The double capacity battery is running great. It's odd as it seems to provide a lot more than double the run time of the original battery. I have to wonder if the original supplied battery is really providing the power it claims

That gives you a total of 2950mAh. Looks like it's coming out in june or thereabouts.
Buying 3rd party extended batteries can be ok, but they always have much lower capacity than what they claim on their websites.
But doesn't an extended battery mean that it's a case with a battery?
Aren't there going to be any battery replacements that will give you more battery life?

Not without making the phone thicker, which is exactly what this is doing, while at the same time giving you the option to shed that weight and just use the standard battery when needed.

That depends entierly on what you want . For me I think the best option would be to have a clip-on battery case that I use if I'm going to be extended periods away from a power socket. For you maybe it's better to have a spare battery, I don't know.
Battery is that small on SGS 1 i kept a spare in pocket .
Waiting for cheap genuine Samsung SGS 2 battery now .

Neither of those options appeal to me.
I dont want to be carrying extra separate items with me, it adds bulk and then there's the hassle of having to physically change the battery, and keep two charged.
At least with the extended batteries, your only changing the one thing, and sure it makes the phone thicker, but it also serves as a protective case.
The option that sounds best to me is for Samsung to get their F***ing heads out of their F***ing asses and make the phone 2 moth******ing millimeters thicker so we can get decent battery life!!! I mean seriously, who needs a phone to be this thin??
Ya it's cool to be thin but can I just have a $700 phone that I can use without being neurotic about power settings? Oh ya, and 2mm would have been just enough so that my phone is not resting on the very fragile camera lens every time I put it down.
In every other aspect I'm in love with this phone but you have to be a complete bonehead to make that call on the battery.
I cant speak for everyone but i get great battery life. 2x the battery of my vibrant, I can get a 1 1/2 days easily before it actually dies.
I am interested to see what extended batteries will look like. I think powerskins will make a great battery whenever that happens.

Can this be done? I am asking this because I am getting sick of messing with all these tablets none of the 7' ones have optical batteries and it is hard to find one that doesn't weigh like a pound with a huge bezel which is the main reason why I was looking at doing this I feel the tablet would really benefit being light weight. My main question is if I found a decent cellphone with a broken screen for cheap would it be difficult to be able to adapt a 16:9 7' LCD panel and capacitive digitizer to the connector? I'd really love to have a small pocketable 7' tablet that has moddable space for some of the cheaply available cellphone batteries or extended batteries etc..
I was close to getting what I wanted with one tablet but it didn't have USB charging.
you can try on openmoko phone,they are coming with full customization opensource phone so you can modify it.

If I read this correct, you want to be able to remove the tablets battery and/or swap it with a cellphone battery? Would it work? Yes. No. I have a 5in. Galaxy Player that has a non-removable battery but I removed it just to see if I could. If you manage to correctly wire everything together you have to consider how to get it in a pocketable shell. Also phones and tablets have different shaped batteries and those batteries have different amperage/voltage. But hey, if you got expendable cash and a little "know how" by all means go for it.
i was talking modding a phone with a broken screen into a tablet by replacing the screen with a 7' lcd and a capacitive digitizer and designing a shell while maintaining the phones ability to use its own optical batteries. I am just trying to get a feel for whether this would he a viable idea.
But do u think a 7 inch is pocketable? Even if its weightless? Lol, i almost dont put my hd2 in my pockets, its hell of a big.
But as ans for ur doubts its possible. Unless u manage to get a proper display. Batt isnt that much prob. U can make packs with several batts, if u know how to.

Wouldn't one extended battery suffice? and yes a 7' tab is pocketable the main issue that makes these non pocketable is the huge bezels on some of them.
First and foremost you can't wire a different screen or digitizer into the system. The LCD driver is build and configured for that exact display and resolution. A better solution could be to slave a LCD panel using the hdmi and integrate a mouse into the housing to control it.
As for batteries there is a reason they are the way they are. It is easier to integrate it (smaller profile) and it is easier to deal with. You would need a huge battery if you wanted any sort of run time.

I was going to say, the biggest problem will be the driving hardware for the LCD as almost each lcd has a different one. In order for this to work you would have to find one that works exactly the same way as the screen that you are taking off.
Battery power will also be a problem. The battery for my Captivate is 5.5 Watt Hours which at 3.7-3.8V is 1450-1500mAh. The battery an iPad 2 is 28W which at 3.8V is 7380 mAh. Basically, bigger screen = bigger backlight. Bigger backlight = more power. The most battery two most battery draining items on the phone is the cell receiver and the lcd backlight.

What's wrong with having a bezel around the screen? It is actually useful when you hold the tablet cause your fingers won't touch the screen as you're holding it

I had the same trouble as you, but now I have a Galaxy Note, its only 5.3 inches though not 7, but after moving up from an iPhone it feels huge.

Give that, my read is you may find an option of using an andriod phone put a mod on it (an example cyanogenmod) and BOOM phablet

Unless you really need the phone functionality of an actual phone, wouldn't it be much simpler to buy an existing 7" tablet and then mod it to take removable batteries? Some dremel work, bit of plastic plates for support and some spring contacts and you're good to go.
China makes some very nice android tablets. I've got a 9.7 one that runs ICS and the experience on it is at least as good as my old HTC desire minus the phone and 3G. Supports external 3G dongles but dang they're ugly..
For the record, I have a galaxy note.
Just buy a kindle fire, root it, and install ICS. Or just install a launcher like my GF did. For 200 dollars you will not do any better than it, period.
The kindle fire is pretty impressive in terms of RAM and processor power for the price, and while the screen isn't perfect, I found it hard to justify $700 at the time for the Gnote over her free smartphone and $200 dollar KF.
Even in terms of gaming, emulation, etc, I have yet to find anything running significantly slower than on my Gnote, even though the specs are just a 1ghz dual- core processor and 512 mb RAM. I think the playstation emulater ran ever so slightly slower with a 3D game, that's it.
My girl seems to get around 3-4 days on standby with some moderate gaming and a lot of e-reading, etc. I'm sure you can get a generic micro-usb 'external battery' which will charge your device etc. Personally, I just carry around a micro-usb cable and/or charger. Unless you are taking this hypothetical tablet into the woods I can't see how you wouldn't be able to charge it at least for an hour or two somewhere in this day and age.
One of the reasons that you will not find tablets with removable batteries is that the batteries themselves are massive and make up much a pretty sizeable chunk of the phone. I can't state the specifics, but the point is you can't just 'remove the back and plop in a new battery'. What, were you planning to run four galaxy S2 batteries in series or something? How would that be useful? And do you really think that the result you will get will be superior to something you could buy? Have you ever tried soldering onto PCBs before? Do you have the proper equipment to do so?
+1 to the lower-cost tablets coming out of China, etc. I have heard some good things about them.

Does there exist an extended battery for the Note 3 that doesn't make the phone thicker? All of the extended battery solutions I have seen make the back of the phone stick out a lot. Isn't there one that makes the phone longer instead by sticking out of the bottom? It would fit into my pockets a lot better that way.
