New update 07.03.2018
other B300

New update
NEM-L21C432B357

If you have a look around the FF app you will see that they do actually make you aware that under emui4 there are no problems.
However they go on to inform you that you might experience bugs using the app under emui5....such as 'couldn't install', 'unauthorised', 'deleting the zip files...'. Basically the issues you have been experiencing. I manage to update to b360 selecting without wifi via proxy and it was essentially for a different region!?! But, hey it worked.
But like you even though there are newer updates I get the same problems now and the updated have been available for several weeks...

B361 and security patch is 1st MARCH!!

New update from 2018.04.28 :
NEM-L21C432B359
Integrates Google security patches released in May 2018 for improved system security.

Just bought a Mate 8 (NXT-L09C636B191) and not showing nougat available in updater.

Is there an easy way to get it? I tried the firmware finder app from the play store and it's still not working. I show the updates available, but when I try to send to updater it keeps bringing up that notice saying I need to go into my wifi and change proxy to localhost and 8080, even though I've already done that. Is there any other way I can get the nougat update?
I'm having the same problem I can't update to any nougat firmware I'm on c636b191
See my post in the OTHER thread you created.
You must update to b200 via dload and then boom u get nougat update

Its just a new alternative method to send file into updater, such as proxy. But now you can see new important improvement in Ffinder and it is ability to check firmware to access before you start procedure installing of new one. As you can check b380 is not approved version.

How do i get 7.0 on this tablet?

I just got this tablet from Amazon and it came with Android 6.0 and it says there is not an update available. How do I get stock 7.0 on it? I had read reviews that said it was updated which is one of the reasons I bought it.
I never got an OTA for 7 I had to use Firmware Finder in the play store. It found it, downloaded it and installed it.

Here’s how I upgraded. Reposted from another forum.
The update checker was a non-starter for me until I used it with firmware finder and bypassed having to use a micro+SD card in order to upgrade to EMUI 5. First, I picked the 2.5gb file option within firmware finder which is basically EMUI 5, chose the get an update using dns beta option. Added the dns address that firmware finder provided to my wifi settings by holding down your wifi, choosing modify network, tick advanced options, change settings to static, and then change the dns to the one provided by firmware finder. From there, it downloaded the file, but once finished it passed it on to Huawei's upgrader app and it took over from there. Just remember to remove the dns address from your wifi settings when finished. As I mentioned didn't need to use a SD card and once finished, checked the Huawei updator again and there was another small update available. I thought it was the easiest way to upgrade without having to do too many steps. Once the file was passed on to the Huawei upgrader, it did all the work.
Mediapad M3 Upgrade
Dear friend I have also bought these wonderful tablets these days, I have the same problem, so I installed "firmware finder" app so I can download the new firmware for emui 5.0 btv-w09c100b302, I do not know if the procedure is correct, light forums before upgrade, I would like someone to tell me if I can proceed safely with the upgrade, thank you
I posted how I did it above and it’s correct, and it’s safe. Follow the directions.
okay it's not super clear with Firmware Finder version 6.6 but I finally watched enough videos to figure it out.
Install Firmware Finder
Tap on your model number (should pop up right away at top)
Tap on latest FULL version
Check Firmware access
Tap IN-APP PROXY
Goto wifi settings and press hold your wifi
tap modify
show advanced
PROXY select manual
Proxy hostname: localhost
Proxy port 8080
save or connect
Go to Settings
system update
check for update. It should then show an update. Tap and let it download and install.
Edit: I do not recall having to change the DNS setting. I just checked and mine was still set to DHCP so I am sure I did not change it. Once done with update though do go back and remove the Proxy setting.

I got a BTV-W09C128B005 FW version (USA from Amazon). Updater didn't show any updates. I downloaded a two folder update. I unpacked them (.zip) and put on an SD card under 'dload'. I pressed the vol up/ vol down and power to start the update. It worked and went to BTV-W09C128B350. I then deleted the contents of the 'dload' folder on the SD card, and replaced them with the unpacked USA data upgrade files. The data folder included a lot of app .apks including one called 'bluetooth'. The force update for the 2nd set of files took very little time, and it didn't seem to do anything. It didn't update or install any apps from the data folder, and the vers. stayed at B350. Now bluetooth won't turn on, and the 'update' app is missing from the 'settings' menus. I can't use the other update methods because they use the missing update app.
Huawei cust. support chat assured me that the Android 7 update (OTA) would arrive if I was patient enough. (6 months, yeah right.)
I'm returning this to Amazon to start over. This time I'm going to try other methods that use the updater app, or log into the PC program HiSuite to see if it pushes the update properly.
You chose the complicated way to upgrade. My input ( above ) for how to upgrade is a lot easier and is less riskier as Huawei's upgrade software is involved. Your call, but if you hit a brick wall on other ways to upgrade, consider my suggestion.
Thanks dude (@b4u2), worked like a charm!

Looked like security patches and bug fixes to me. They installed after I did the full update. I really like this tablet now that it's on 7.0

Did they installed without the app Firmware Finder ?
I like it too with Android 7.0 , despite all the bloatware apps (I'm coming from a Nexus 7).

For me they installed without firmware finder. Right after first boot, I went to System Settings, and the Update section showed the OTA update. It installed 2. Only thing disappointing is that they haven't released an update to fix KRACK yet.

I stupidly tried an SD card method first, and ended up with an upgraded tablet with no Bluetooth and keyboard issues. Finally got back to original state and followed @callanish method. Worked beautifully and easily. Anyone else looking to update, I'd suggest this easy method that works. Thanks @callanish! (seriously registered here just to say thanks)

I wasn't so lucky: I had to install it with Firmware Finder (only the one of ~500MB).
Can you please tell me which security patch level do you have ?
I have those of May 2017.
That's what I have, May if 2017. I also used firmware finder and to my knowledge, that's the newest available for this tablet.

I did this too, because the instructions in FF app were crap for the other methods. I found the SD card method and ran with it. It didn't put the USA data files on that included the keyboard and bluetooth, and updater app.
I had to return mine to Amazon and try again using the DNS / Updater app method on FF. This time it worked great! This tablet is sooo much better with updated launcher and Android 7.
How on earth did you get it back to original state without sending it back?

I think there is a security patch level more recent than May '17.
I got my US version with the B005 FW vers. It had a SP level of something like Aug '17 (I don't remember exactly, but it after May of this year.)
It showed no updates in the updater app, but I upgraded it using FF app, and now it says May '17 for the SP level.
I don't think Huawei ever intended US versions to get the Android 7 update because it doesn't comply with current SP levels.
Hi all, I have a question, when I open Firmware Finder I have a list of 4 FullOTA (see attached screenshot), all with the same release date, how can I choose the right one?
@fidrat I worded that poorly. I used the same technique you did, started with a new one.

P9 Lite - VNS-L31C432B226 to Nougat

Hi guys!
Recently, one of the users of my app reported an issue with his Huawei P9 Lite VNS-L31C432B418. It's impossible to him to use my app, network calls are blocked in the app, the app won't connect to my backend endpoints for no reason. Logging is quite unclear, so it's hard to reproduce this issue.
Because of my dedication and urge to fix this issue, I ordered an Huawei P9 Lite on Amazon. (amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B01DYN5OLE) It got delivered today, installed my app and woosh... Everything was working fine. The phone came with VNS-L31C432B160/EMUI 4.1.3; but the user of my app is using P9 Lite VNS-L31C432B418/EMUI 5.0.4. Hitting the "check for updates" did not result in receiving any update (Thanks Huawei!) so I started looking around the internet. I prefer to use exactly the same build version because I want to reproduce this (hard) issue.
So far so good, I used Firmware Finder to incrementally update to VNS-L31C432B226. I'm quite new in these firmware-hacks and tried installing the VNS-L31C432B418 version, but I got stuck at the 5% progress indicator. Using Firmware Finder on my PC, it checked that I'm able to install versions with G 2190 and g 1789. These params do not tell that much for me... Currently, I'm stuck at VNS-L31C432B226 as this is the last one that has G 2190 and g 1789. All the other ones have G 190 and g 1755, are these for other devices as the one I have since I am not able to install these ones?
Someone who can help me in order to get VNS-L31C432B418? Is this even possible on my device?
Thanks in advance, kind regards
Joren

Hi Joren,
sorry if i ask but the weird (B226) update you done is android 6 or 7 ?
Starting from B160, you should have chosen B370 FULLOTA-MF-PV
to upgrade to android 7, then to latest B418...

Hi, thanks for your reply! My device gotdelivered with version B172...
Today, I got an update to VNS-L31C432B228! This version is not visible in Firmware Finder... Any ideas how to update to Nougat?
Is it possible to force the update? I always get the message that the update is not compatible with my version.

Ok,
use the app, same method and choose B370 FULLOTA-MF-PV.
It's 1.99 gbyte - date 21/03/2017 - G 753 - g 104.
Into my PC version of FF i see (2) two versions, looks the same, try one or the other..
If you will succeed you can update to the latest firmware (B418)..

It seems to be the same URL for those two entries. Note that it's in fact a "downgrade", the "v" value is 80460. My device got delivered with B172 (which is also not found in FF), B173 is already 110304... Currently, B228 is also not visible in the list, B227 is 143951.

"Software install failed" "Incompatibility with current version. Please download the correct update package". Same story for the contents of the update_data_full_VNS-L31_hw_eu.zip.
I'd like to wipe the current firmware instead op updating/upgrading it, but I've already done lots of research, some docs are so outdated that they're not relevant anymore. Any clear steps on how to force install the version instead op upgrading it?

Tried in the app, it told me that B370 "The firmware is not approved for installation". B418 is approved (FullOTA-MF), so:
- I've downloaded the firmware (3 files)
- Setup in-app proxy
- Change wifi proxy to localhost:8080
- Check for updates, update is available
- Switch back to wifi, disable proxy
- Download update
- Install
Same story, update is incompatible... So I think I'm still doing something wrong while changing the firmware instead of upgrading. For me, the tutorials are skipping essential steps. Or I might have received a f*cked up device. Why on earth is it so hard to update, thanks Huawei..

Are you choosing B370 fullota-mf-pv one ? (not B370 fullota-mf nor B370 ota)
Also now i see there a third B370 fullota-mf-pv with date 2017.08.03 - G 1258 - g 104..
If you don't upgrade to this version first,
you couldn't upgrade anyway to android 7

Yup, but that one: "Most likely, the firmware was removed from the server".
The other ones with B370 are both telling "The firmware is not approved for installation".
I'm testing all the FullOTA-MF-PV's, they are all telling "The firmware is not approved for installation". Some of the "FullOTA-MF" do show the message that they are available. What's the difference between the "-PV"?

That version is used to upgrade to android 7 from 6.
Maybe the version you updated before (B226/B228) don't allow you to upgrade.
Downgrade to B160 and redo your steps..
How to do this ?
Download THIS FILE, extract update.app, create a folder and name it DLOAD.
Put update.app into that folder and put the folder into your SD card.
Turn off the device then reboot holding vol+ & vol- & power buttons together
until flashing starts then release them...

I don't know what's wrong with this device.
I've downgraded my device to B160 (66015), tried upgrading to B370 80460, 80466, 80582, all with the same result: Incompatibility with current version. The only version I'm able to upgrade to is 80562, which is B210. From that point, Firmware Finder suggests that it should be possible to update to the B370 builds, but every time, "Incompatibility with current version".
The only B370 that I was not able to try is the one you're suggesting in your comment. That one gives a 404 so I'm not able to download that one (92405). Any other suggestions...?

Sorry dude have you tried skipping the firmware access ?
Could we have missed something in the procedure ?
If this doesn't work, try opening the FF app and from the main menu select 'instructions'.
Video and text guides will open. You can try the update with HiSuite
or with eRecovery or as a last resort you could try the one with a TWRP,
but for this you will have to unlock the bootloader and
it would cost you some time and an additional 4 € ...
Please Note: I have never upgraded from A6 to A7 with this device via twrp,
you do this at your own risk ...

With B160, install firmware finder on your phone.
Add model as VNS-L31C432
Settings > Show firmware for this region only and Show full OTAs only.
Check firmware approval one or two times. (Make sure you've provided phone permission for firmware finder)
Get an update via DNS and it'll turn on vpn.
Check for updates and download.
I can help you on teamviewer if you still can't make it work.
I think that the firmware I need is the one that returns a 404 when trying to download. I've already done successful firmware approval several times for builds that won't install after all. Only the fact that it's such a mess to get updates for this device makes me really frustrated. What if I was a "dummy" owner of this device? I should never be able to get the updates I'm looking for. It's just impossible without doing too much effort or rooting the device. For me it's really important to have the original firmware of Huawei and not a custom rom, because I have to investigate the issue of my app user, which is device-specific. How complicated can it be to provide a solid update platform. Huawei, please.
I've decided to ship this piece of sh*t back to Amazon. Ordered a second hand Huawei P9 Lite that has already the build VNS-L31C432B418. Thank you guys for all the effort in trying to help me getting Nougat on this device, unfortunately it seems to be impossible.

[SOLVED] S10+ not scanning for OTA updates despite having relocked bootloader using download mode and flashed stock ROM using Odin.

I rooted my phone last October 2020 and installed a custom ROM. Enjoyed it for a while but today I decided I want to revert to stock.
- Flashed stock ROM from Frija (wasn't able to backup data and settings when I first rooted my phone) (the stock firmware is the May 2021 security firmware update, it's the only one available from both SamFirm and Frija based on the region and carrier where my phone came from) using the HOME CSC file instead of the CSC (not sure if it's important to point that out but i'm just gonna bring it up just in case)
- Re-locked bootloader using download mode. Verified by searching for Netflix on the Play Store and thankfully, it showed up.
However, I tried making the phone search for an OTA update by going to Settings > Software updates > Download and install, but after checking for updates, it says my software is "up to date". I'm not entirely what the latest software version in my region is but I really want to get OTA updates back. I don't care about tripping Knox or what not, I just need the OTA updates.

As for my experience, if you are unable to get updates because of rooting, you will get: "Unable to connect to the server" or something like that. If neither Frija nor SamFirm were able to find newer software that you have, it's more like region-specific, not a rooting problem
