Hi,
My question is how different is MiFavor from stock android experience. Is it mainly stock with few extras or is it completely re-skinned like Samsung skin or MIUI? How frustrating would MiFavour be for ex-Nexus users?
I've read about lockscreen nonsense and the additional settings tab. I've also heard that dialer and camera apps are different. Are they very different? And what about notifications and and notification bar & icons?
I'm asking this because I'm looking for the new phone. Just 3 main requirements: good audio, sd card, unskinned Nexus-like android. The closest to these are HTC10 and Axon7. Both are just over £400 now, so I'm choosing between the two.

Buy OnePlus 3 if you can
HTC10 or Oneplus 3 are better overall packages, unfortunately. Unless you REALLY want loud speakers, I'd recommend one of them over the Axon 7. Oneplus 3 if you want custom roms and a bigger screen, HTC 10 if you're fine staying stock and want a smaller phone.
Oneplus3 is a great phone, except there is no expandable storage and no independent DAC.
HTC10 seems like a much better overall package with excellent camera, however sound-wise it is not as good as Axon and also Sense seems to be further away from stock then MiFavor. Or at least that was the impression I've got from reviews.
Everybody losing their minds over this phone wanting it to be like every other phone out there. It's a great phone and yes it does have some quirks just like every other phone out there.
$400 for flagship specs and a well build phone is an amazing deal. Compare the specs and watch some review on YouTube and formulate your own discision based on what you want and need and not what some one expected or assumed and are now pissed off.
Not to mention they have a great return policy if you see after a couple weeks it's not for you.

Totally agree!
I was still hopping to hear from people who used to have Nexus phones before moving to Axon. How is the overall experience in terms of software? Most of the reviews tell about the lock screen bell, which sounds annoying, but I can live with that. Is that the only major difference?

The solution for the bell is to use tasker and autoinput to basically auto-touch that spot on the screen everytime the screen turns on. It's stupid that is necessary but it works like 95% of the time.
Being on my 8th Android smartphone, I've used everything from CM7 to CM13, AOSP, Touchwiz, Sense, Whatever LG has...this feels pretty stock to me honestly. I think MOST of the things that you can see and interact with like gesture stuff, ZTE apps, and all that can be avoided and it doesn't feel to intrusive (besides the bell). When I went back to my Moto x Pure for a week or so, that phone definitely feels more natural to me to use, but this is close.
Also just a couple screen-on things to keep in mind: The moto style wave to wake thing basically doesn't work with ACdisplay or Ambient Notifications, at least not reliably enough to use normally. And the double tap to wake totally sucks. I still use it but it is way worse than say the LG G4. Just things to keep in mind.
The notification shade seems like a hybrid of the Moto and some more older standard power buttons. They are not interactive, meaning you can't unhide a menu of a few Bluetooth devices from the notification button. You have to long press to get into the menu or set up a shortcut. Not a huge thing but the functionality was better with more interaction.
The camera app is ok. It has a multi filter button where you can see the preview shot with like 9 different potential filters, press the one you want most, and then shoot it. It's kinda cool but probably not unique. The cameras I have use on all of my phones have been so drastically different that this didn't throw me off.

What in the world haha. I don't even think 44 phones would appeal to me! Jesus. Well, among people I know, I think 8 is a good number. I used to be stuck on 2-year plans and finally got off those. In the last 18 months I've had 4. I doubt I'll catch up to 44 though.

I've been on prepaid since the early days of android. I flipped phones while I was in college as a way to help pay tuition, so that accounted for a lot of the devices I've owned. For the past few years I've been on the "buy used, sell ~3 months later for exactly what you paid" train. Swappa makes this really easy. This is the secret behind always having new devices and never paying anything (or very little) out of pocket to having them.
You used to be able to buy phones on Craigslist and sell them on eBay or Swappa for way more, since people didn't realize that even though they only spent $100 at the Verizon store on their Note 3, it was actually worth $400. But since the carriers started itemizing the bills, people have wised up to this and that trick really doesn't work anymore.

I was set on a OnePlus 3T but this is one sale right now and I LOVE the audio capabilities of this thing. I have a rooted OP1 and have run CM for a couple years. It sounds like this phone isn't as far along as the OP3 when it comes to Roms etc... Correct? Any good Roms with everything working? One with theme customization would be nice too. Being used to perfectly working CM etc. would I regret getting this or should I go for it? Are there good Rom alternatives? I used to be one who would tinker with my phone a lot but these days I want a ROM thati like and just works and don't have to worry about it.
One other thing. It has been a long time since I've had a phone with an SD card slot. Can that storage be used as internal storage? On my Shield TV I can make one huge pool of storage with all the external storages plugged in.

You could have just looked at the ROM section of the forum to find your answer. We currently have one CM ROM, and it's not "perfectly working". It's a WIP.
You should buy the OnePlus 3T. The dev community for the Axon7 won't ever be as big as OP, and it seems that's what you care about.

I was interested in this A7 since it was announced earlier this year due to the amazing hardware and audio capabilities.
Fast forward 3 months or so since I have it, I can say that it delivers on the hardware in most aspects. The issues with this phone in my experience:
1. Camera ain't the best but just ok. Don't consider this phone if camera is important to you.
2. The hardware capacitive buttons are too close together and up to now it is tough to use the back and recents. This can somewhat be managed by using on screen navigation buttons which is available from one of our kind Devs who added it to a stock firmware based ROM.
3. There is no minute vibration controls. It is either on or off. On simply provides a hard, and relatively long vibration, annoying when typing. Yes you can turn it off on your keyboard but I still prefer it on regardless.
4. The single biggest issue for me is the lack of stable third party ROMs like RR, Pure Nexus, multiROM, DU, and the like. Also no full kernel is available yet - I see a Dev was able to provide 1 kernel but it is a work in progress and for that we are most grateful to the Dev. Another Dev, Unjustified Dev, took the time and effort to provide us an instance of CM13.1 but it has major issues with audio and mic. We know that Unjustified Dev has put a lot of time into trying to get the audio working better but due to the proprietary drivers related to audio it is also a work in progress. A few others have been trying to also help but mic is still iffy at this point. So if third party ROMs are your thing then this ain't a phone worthy of your money.
5. So frustrated I was with the initial lack of stable third party ROMs that I went ahead and purchased the OnePlus 3T, man that brand can attract Devs. I used the OnePlus for a few weeks but because I missed the dual front facing speakers of the A7, I went back. By this time another Dev was able to provide a very stable stock firmware based ROM with a few additional tweaks while keeping the audio features intact. I now use the A7 with Xposed and it is now OK. I am still hoping that our brilliant Devs will be able to get us a stable CM instance and I know they are still sacrificing time and effort into trying to provide us something.
6. I go back occasionally to my 3T to play with the latest iterations of some custom ROMs, but audio is the missing feature on the 3T.

Get the A7 ... Great hardware & software improves (literally) daily!
OP3(T) has poor carrier support in the US. US model of Axon 7 is better tailored to US networks.
The Axon 7 is due to get an upgrade to Nougat in January 2017. I'm sure there will be many fixes to known problems that come with it.

Thanks. Fortunately I don't care much about camera quality. With dev stuff really I can get by as long as I can root it and have at least a stockish rom that completely works.
One thing I do like now is the ability to customize the notification LED to change colors based on different things. Would this be possible with this device?
It really infuriates me that almost all devices come out with one mono speaker. It seems like stereo speakers of any kind at least should be standard at this point. Then again I'm one who wishes these phones had physical keyboards because After seven or whatever years I still can't type worth a crap on a screen.
ZTE is a ****ty company with crap software. And the community development for this device is almost non existent (except for a few guys that are doing their best with what they have).
But you get front facing speaker and great audio (with awful support, though).
ZTE is so bad as a company that they dont even let us discuss about the Nougat update. You'd think they learn something after the last update that broke the power managment of the device and couldn't fix anything since launch , but no... 3 months now since the last update and we dont get a proper fix.

Not sure what to believe. I have also heard that OP has the worst support and ZTE's is better. I've never had any problem with any phone or needed any support really outside of me messing stuff up with rooting etc.
I saw one review from August talking about the A7's great power management. Are you saying that no longer works?

The Axon 7 has a 2 year warranty vs. 1 for the OP3T so the support argument is not clear-cut.

We are clearly talking about a different type of support.
Anyways, in my country I dont have neither OnePlus nor ZTE support so I really dont care about warranty.

I am the same as you. Personally I don't think CM adds much compared to stock providing you already use a different launcher. I personally use blinkfeed launcher from HTC on all my phones (and it has custom theming) and I can tell you that with that I don't need any other ROM as I feel the settings menu on the Axon 7 is great. Initially the software had some mild annoyances but with the latest update I am perfectly happy (and nougat update should fix the last remaining issues in January based on what ZTE said).
I think the OP3T is also a strong device, but you would be trading off gorgeous QHD display and amazing sound with slightly better battery life, which I personally don't use, since the Axon 7 charges in 70 min.
Personally I don't feel it makes sense to buy a full HD device going into 2017, as I want to be able to use good quality VR. Also on AMOLED displays which have a pentile screen arrangement 1080p is more like 900p in terms of sharpness. QHD look more like 1200p.
The only case where I would recommend the OP3T is if you are a non VR hard-core gamer and need extra performance as 1080p display can help squeeze more performance, but in most games the difference won't be that noticeable.

I completely agree with this guy. I'm blown away by how poorly ZTE have managed things, and their support is borderline non-existent. If the 1080p screen of the OP3/T wasn't a borderline deal breaker for me (VR) I would have attempted to return this phone. If I had to pick a phone right now I'd buy a OP3T, and that's even considering that the DAC on the A7 is a big deal for me which leads me to my next point...
You say the DAC is a big deal for you, well I should let you know that the Hi-Fi DAC it doesn't seem to work in anything but ZTE's default app which is absolute trash with less than bare-bones functionality and it's very buggy.
Edit: I forgot to clarify one point; why "1080p" is so pixelated for VR. It's because AMOLED panels are advertised as false resolutions due to a legal loophole; there isn't legal standard. They use a pentile pattern meaning they have 1/3rd less subpixels, and as much as Samsung's engineers will tell you that it effectively looks the same to the human eye, it absolutely does not, even at extreme density such as "1080p" on a 5.1" display, or even "1440p" on this 5.5" display. On flat colours I can see the pentile pattern.

For me warranty is a decision factor. The fact that ZTE offer 2 year warranty even for unlocked devices is a plus, even if I don't feel a need to unlock right now. The fact that Nougat update will be very fast coming already in January is also a plus.
Only if you are in the US, consider the Axon 7. Anywhere else, including the US, OnePlus is a reliable option.
People complain about the ZTE software. I love it. Had it for 3 days and no complaints. I live outside the US and it works fine on our 4G networks in Trinidad.
The screen and the speakers are two things the Axon 7 trumps over the OP3T. And a visual and listening experience to me is reason enough to get this phone over any other. amoled 1440p and front facing stereo speakers PLUS memory card support and a great battery? Its a no brainer, get this phone
^ I've never really had much of an issue with the cosmetics of skins. The Honor 5x I am replacing is about as heavy a skin as you can get these days and I didn't mind it. People always hate on it because it rips off Apple (ZTE does a bit of that too). Of course I found Google Now launcher, and have since move on to Action launcher, which is just awesome.
It was between the One Plus 3T and the Axon 7. The price is what ultimately did it for me. I got the A7 for $325 shipped on Jet.com, when I called to ask a question and the woman gave me a $15 off code. That's over a $100 difference in price with very comparable specs (even without the code it was going to be $340 shipped). I care about roms, but only after ZTE will EOL the phone. And with prices coming down, and value like this at around the $200-300 price point, I might not even keep it that long.
ZTE needs to make an impression on the US market. Or at least they want to. They did the hardware right this time. Now they just need to do the update dance. Honor (Huawei) committed to two years. These two brands appear very similar in software thinking and other areas. Given the Azon 7's two year warranty, I think the are probably going to also commit to two years of updates, stated or not. It only makes sense. And it also makes sense to announce that. Or anything. Maybe I missed it.
This phone is highway robbery at $325. I might have considered the $100 more if the 3T were waterproof.

Yeah, I was happy the firts couple of weeks too.
Let us know when you start to get annoyed with the bugs.
If you want good Dev, ROM support., go with 3t. That is my biggest disappointment with the A7. This could change in the near future but it may not. Don't get me wrong, the A7 is a really good phone but if I had to choose again, I would sacrifice resolution and SD card for more Dev support.

I don't see much changing as far as dev support goes for the Axon. With the death of CM it becomes even more unlikely that devs are gonna pick it up for development. It's about 6 months since release now and there is barely anything for the Axon so we'll have to be really optimistic to see anything change now. The main difference here is not aftermarket support, but the support from the in house devs of OnePlus and ZTE. And OnePlus is way more mature in that aspect. Mifavour is not half as bad but it will eventually wear you down.

One of the main factors is how well it supports custom ROMs, which is why I'm here.
I see "FPS" being listed on the CM/Lineage ROMs as not working, but I couldn't find any information on what that actually is. I might be terrible at searching though.
Can someone help me out?
Also: Am I blind, or is there no separate Q&A section?
And does this phone support double tap to wake without preventing deep sleep?

Fingerprint sensor. There is a Q&A section. This phone does not support double tap to wake. The fingerprint sensor though is the quickest way to unlock this phone as it's nearly instant.
Most people are expecting (and hoping) that Huawei will release source for Android 7.0 Nougat for the Honor 8, which will allow full featured custom rooms.

The Honor 8 doesn't have a custom community anything like the nexus 5 but then it wouldn't as it's a new phone.
I love my Nexus 5 as a phone to play about with and to use lots of different ROMs but I don't use it as my daily phone I use my honor 8 for that.
The build of the Honor 8 is a different class, everything about it.
The custom ROMs ain't there a as yet but I'm sure that will change as the source codes are realeased.
The Honor 8 is a beautiful phone that works very well on every level.
I hadn't found the need to root it let alone use custom ROMs.
I find that the Nova launcher together with the themes and fonts available means that I can make the phone look and work how I want it to.

I don't think Honor 8 dev scene is very active and you'll be very disappointed for that. I would say get the OnePlus 3T instead of you want custom rom. The phone is very nice otherwise.
I previously used a Nexus 5 before my Honor 8. If we could get a Nexus-like ROM for it that would be amazing! As it is, I'm running the EMUI 5.0 Beta (Nougat) and although it is better than EMUI 4.1 (MM), it's still not nearly as polished as stock Android on the Nexus 5. There are none of the little flourish animations like the settings gear rolling out when you swipe down on the status bar and the Huaweii replacement apps for things like the Google Dialer have an almost Froyo feel to them in places. The biggest software annoyance for me is that items can't be clicked until they've COMPLETELY stopped moving. This means if you're scrolling a list, you usually end up having to tap the item twice: once to stop it scrolling, and once to actually activate it. I don't know how Huaweii has managed to screw this up, since I've never seen this problem on another Android phone.
On the plus side, the hardware build is way better than the N5! The fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate. GPS works amazingly well compared to the N5. Once you figure out that the NFC is located between the proximity sensor and the front-facing camera, but on the back of the phone, it's easy to use. The speaker is as good, or maybe even slightly better than the N5. Battery life is way better than I ever got on the N5. The camera is better than the N5's except for the lack of OIS. The best part is it's almost exactly the same width as the N5 was, only a bit taller and thinner. It does need a case though. That glass back and metal sides don't have anything like the grip of the soft touch back on the N5.
It really all comes down to the software holding back a great device. I'm still happy with my purchase based on the price, but I really wish it had been the next Nexus with Google software.

I agree with those who say , more or less, that the custom ROM or developer scene for the H8 is bleak. There's absolutely no good signs since their initial foray into developer relations with XDA that anything good has happened coming from Honor's direction. I don't believe for a moment that EMUI 5 will somehow be the point at which they rally their army of devs to suddenly have a presence or that they are going to release real source code for anything we need to develop.
I've probably send 50 notes to Honor (on their site) about this topic and have never received a reply , or for that matter, any show of interest from anyone there. I happen to like the phone enough to let it just be a phone that won't get customized much. There's not even a decent copy of TWRP for this thing yet that handles everything (all facets, Nougat, Encryption, f2fs, etc).
I hope I'm wrong , in fact would very much like to be wrong. I think the Kirin 950 chip is pretty damned cool as far as how it translates to real world performance and wish that series well in the development world but it's really being sandbagged by Honor/Huawei.
If you are looking for an active development scene, get a different phone. Fortunately my other phones laying around are all actively or were actively in development.
There is little to no dev scene for the Honor 8, as evidenced by the lack of sub forums on xdc (always a bad sign). If that's your priority I'd look elsewhere.
Oneplus 6 is there. I'm thinking of upgrading from my Huawei mate 9 to oneplus 6. I get tired of the little development of the Huawei community. Someone else goes to oneplus 6?
I dont believe the OP6 is on sale yet. Still I have decided to buy one as well. The mate 9 is great and all but I still can't get used to the UI and the development for this phone is pretty much absent.
Nope. Out of the box, they have way too many bugs, customer service is terrible.
In about a month or two after release, their phones aren't too bad, but, I don't like being
a beta tester. I've had 3 Huawei Phones. Mate 2,8,9. Out of the box, all have been perfect.
Plus, Oppo's cheaper cousin was suppose to be "less expensive" than all the other flagships.
They started out with a basic phone, good specs, low price. But, with each version they have
jacked up the price, and made them like every other overpriced flagship, "stylish, slim, colorful
& bla bla bla" Glass on the back? Why? Most people will put a case over it, to make sure it
doesn't break.

The Huawei Mate 9 is my first Huawei device. Couldn't be happier. So much so that I got a P20 for my wife recently. If I had to replace the Mate 9 today I would take the P20 Pro.
I'm not into rooting or changing ROMs so the lack of a 'development community' doesn't bother me.
Before acquiring the Mate 9 I also considered the OnePlus 3T but the lack of local technical assistance was a big no no. If I can't buy it locally or get it repaired locally then I'm not interested.
I'm waiting for the next Mate.

i will still go with huawei. especially with local service. amazing 1:1 exchange if your phone has hardware problems. About UI, seen OP5T from a friend it was fast yes. but too boring seeing it stock google. i realized that stock was just hype. and it was too boring to see. no exciting UI features.
What do you mean no development? We are the first phone to have trebble compatibility, and able to install pure android roms. Samsung s8 and oneplus 5 did not even bother to give trebble compatibility just so you will want to buy their new phone because it adds another feature. Oneplus 6 looks very similar to mate 9, camera probably isn't that much better either. Your point is invalid. Huawei have been improving tremendously and updates are more and more frequent.

Shoot, from what I discovered in 2014, when the "startup" OnePlus came along, all they are is a beta tester for the parent Oppo.
Once people found out that OnePlus is 100% owned by Oppo, who is owned by BBK electronics, their mask as a "poor lonely startup" got busted. Then, with the oneplus one, the distortions & out and out lies started to appear.
Stereo speakers that ended up being nothing more than twin MONO speakers, the "yellow stain" which they first said was because they set the screen color to a more warmer color. That turned out to be a lie, the screens were rushed to meet demand from the supplier and had not cured properly (I fixed mine by a combo of UV light & leaving it in the sunlight). Problems with
accessories missing or not working, having to pay shipping to get the phone and even worse if you had problems, sending it back!
Then, they came out with the OnePlus 2, which had the ill fated 810 chip, which was a problem for every manufacturer that tried to use it.
The OP3/3T was the better of the bunch, but then they went "cheap(er)" with the 5/5T and switched from an optical image
stabilized camera sensor, to the electronic image stabilized sensor, with a faster lens hoping to make up the difference.
It's "not bad" but not as good as the OIS on the 3/3T.
Then what do they do with the 6? Glass back? Why? To make it more trendy,hip,colorful & stylish? That just allows them
to jack up the price. And, if it has a glass back, why not throw in wireless charging?
Nope, got stung by the OnePlus hype in 2014...not going that route, again unless I can walk into a brick store buy it,
and take it back if it doesn't work.
I'm going to hold onto this phone for a while. I'm running OpenKirin, which while it has a few bugs, has substantially fewer than EMUI 8 (which prevented some apps from running correctly). I like having a headphone jack, I like the screen, I like the battery life, the camera is fantastic, I like not having a glass back. But I will probably bite the bullet and buy a Google phone next, so that I get updates without having to hack my phone. I'll buy a bunch of USB-C to 3.5mm dongles.

Well google some of the pixel problems you will be amazed. Bad screen, and mic not working after update are the most common.
When the Mate 11 (or whatever they call it) is announced, I start watching the price on the 10, just like I did when I had the 8, and then
10 was announced, the price on the 9 DROPPED. Once it hit the around $500 mark, I upgraded to the 9.
My Mate 9 was a fabulous device.
My OnePlus 5T is updated almost every week.
And it's VERY quick.
Huawei prices and the feeling of being dumped (I had to wait a year for updates!) It's a worrying trend
Am I going to wait for the Mate 20? We'll have to see.

I am hoping the Pixel 3 will be better. Meanwhile I am reasonably happy with the Mate 9.
I probably won't buy another Huawei -- their recent decision to stop providing bootloader unlock codes means they are too unfriendly to XDA. OnePlus gets a lot of XDA support, which is fantastic, but I don't want a device with a glass back. I drop my phone too often. (Spigen has been great on the Huawei.) It is too bad because the Mate 9 has great hardware, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

what?? i dont know if your just shilling but none of what you said makes any sense. if your talking about the "optimizations" that hauwei implemnets, than maybe...... maybe! if your talking about the visual stuff....... then no!!! huawei could implement an OMS skin which could be easily disabled but instead royally bones the ui to look like ios.
android is about choice, if i want ios ill buy another iphone and just take whatever apple provides. huawei does great hardware but its software is just utter crap! its too bad they'll now be shunned in the US.

About OS? You can compare if you already used both. There's an option to enable app drawer on huawei phones. For OP5t's OS. Youll see how boring it is and how secure your credit card is.

what?? im going to assume that there is a language barrier here. if so, i apologize. the problem here is still that you seem to equate OOS with aosp which it is not. no one uses stock AOSP. even google doesnt use stock AOSP on the pixels. they use a modified pixel specific ROM.
all OEMs use AOSP and then modify it for their use. most OEMs now just add custom optimizations but leave the UI alone so the users can customize through OMS skins. Huawei still bastardizes this with their iOS like skin which is horrible. the battery optimizations are also a headache because they often kill important apps and the lockscreen mod is just terrible!
the huawei ROM has nothing when compared to an AOSP ROM such as AOSP extended, Paranoid Android or even LineageOS. these ROMs provide great features and endless security updates.
if you prefer the stock ROM thats great for you but it doesnt compare to a ROM that gives you options and full control of your device. i suggest you give AOSP Extended a try.
Interesting to read through the topic...Had multiple Samsungs in the past as my daily drivers but since I lost a couple of them due to emmc chip failures I moved away from the ugly overpriced Samsungs.
Everybody has different opinions and preferences, the times I was flashing custom Roms are over. For my work I need a reliable phone with good battery life at a descent price. The Mate 9 and Mate 10 are performing as expected without any problem both running stock Roms. Never had any issues after upgrades, even from Nougat to Oreo was painless. The Mate 9 from my wife did struggle with the upgrade from Nougat to Oreo. Had to factory reset this one to get it working correctly.
I can see a trend here, Huawei seems to go the same direction Samsung took, their devices getting more and more expensive and their customer service goes down as their popularity increases.

I'm still rocking my stock 6T (Global version) on AT&T. The battery is starting to show its age I think, but other than that it has been perfect. It's in great shape and I'm not planning to change it out any time soon. 2.5 years is already the longest I've ever used a phone.
But, with lots of bad reviews on the newest OnePlus offerings, and the continually steeper prices they are charging, I'm wondering what I would do if something happened to my 6T.
I bought it because of:
Price/Performace ratio
Not tethered to a carrier and minimal crapware
Unlockable/rootable (though, I never did either on this phone)
OnePlus good history of support on prior devices (I also have a 3T, now used as a wifi mini tablet)
So, What would you folks buy if you had to get a new phone today?
May jump to a Pixel. Tried to cop a 8T, but ended up with a incompatible version of it. Even then, By OOS changing soon I want to get even more freedom. It's sad I see a lot of people going to Samsung, which I ain't knocking, But they were the reason why I switched to OnePlus..

Ability to root and install custom ROMs means more to me than camera, fingerprint, wireless charging, whatever.
Although a decent camera and waterproofing would be a nice bonus.
If I could I'd go back and get a headphone jack and IR blaster as well. I miss my old HTCs.

For this options iphone is good option
I had a 6T, scratched the screen somehow, got a 7T. Loved it, but switched to a Samsung A71. (easier to get the new stuff to work on my galaxy 3 smart watch than doing a bunch of hacking/loading stuff). Great screen, good battery life. For a midrange, 300 bucks was hard to pass up.

Here's what I'd like, coming from the 6T:
Processor: next step up from whatever 6T had when it came up 3 years ago, but I don't need the latest-greatest
Memory: I have a 256GB storage version, with 8GB RAM. This was fine then, and is fine now.
Screen: whatever the 6T has is fine. The tiny notch never bothered me.
Connectivity: Really want 5G support! I don't cycle through phones quickly anymore so want to future proof
Required beyond doubt: in-screen fingerprint reader. Love this! 6T was the first to have it.
Cameras: I'm not a big camera guy but would like a zoom camera on the back (fixed optical zoom camera, or ability to optically zoom). Doesn't have to be best in class, but should be evolved from 6T
Now here's where I get a bit crazy: every phone I buy, I put in a case (I'm using the 6T OnePlus "graphite" case I think). What I'd RATHER have is no need for a case, but a ruggedized phone (waterproof of course) that doesn't need a case. By removing need for a case, the phone dimensions could be the same as the 6T+case. It would give room for a BETTER BATTERY. I'd like the battery to be in the 4500mAh+ plus range.
For god's sakes I wish they would bring back the multicolor LED (I used LightFlow with them in prior phones), but a good implementation of the always-on screen is fine too. But make it highly configurable and energy-sipping.
Software:
Plain vanilla Android. No bloatware. No carrier apps, but compatible with carrier apps for visual voicemail etc. Compatible with wifi calling, VoLTE etc.
Unlockable and rootable. I didn't do either to my 6T but want to know I could.
Price: I'm not looking for a flagship killer. <$600 US.
Better wait for pixel 6 launch and decide based on it, but Samsung i never recommend, if you don't have options then you can purchase mainly because of Exynos processor, grrrrr.....
I hate to say it but ios supports theming that will something mind blowing, thay have powerful hardware but software sucks too many restrictions, i believe i am living under dictatorship when i am using it

Thanks. I'm in no hurry to replace my 6T, but since it's getting up there in age, I have started musing about where to jump if necessary.
An iOS device is out of the question. I have one, for work, and it works fine, but I hate it. Hate it hate it hate it. I'm not saying iPhones are bad; my wife and kids have them and they work great for them. Just, I can't stand using them for more than the basics.
Pixel 6 looks interesting; I quail at the likely high-end price. We will see. I wish there were more options in the "next tier down from flagship" phones out there like OnePlus used to be in the 3T-6T era. No more...
Flagship, sorry it's myth nowadays, why because can you tell any good processor available in market, once upon a time we had kirin from Huawei, but now there's no direct competitor for Qualcomm, so whatever garbage they produce and claiming it the best we need to accept that , look into the 888 series, they are garbage but we don't have any options, we need to accept it and invest in that, i am thinking of using my op6t for another two years, then move to sparkling trending iglore .
Sorry i forgot to add when ever we start 4k video recording in op9pro it's getting overheat so flagship killer mya**, and overpriced because of hasselblad camera, actually they didn't manufactured or designed, and who knows what is the collaboration is, but put the name and sell it for more than thousand dollars, fantastic. You know something i brought realme 6 pro for my mother, its camera is fantastic compare to my op6t, it's cost me 250$, this is my last op6t
