XIAOMI MI A1 (OREO UPDATE) Battery drains fast - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Before the Oreo update (Nougat), my phone's battery goes from 100% to 90% in under an hour of Mobile Data while Playing Music on my headphones. After the update I noticed that my phone drains from full to 90% in under 30 minutes while Mobile Data is ON. Can this be an issue from the Oreo update? Are there anyone having the same issues?

Same here

Xiaomi released the last stable beta as public release. Battery drains will fix with the upcoming updates... No worries...

ive still the same error on current stock rom with feb. sec. patch.
any ideas? maybe a hardware issue?

After the update I am seeing battery also getting charged something slower than earlier. I am with February update but this is not the OS update but a security update. But I have noticed show charging then January update. Seems strange to me.

I have, since i bought It in february, and even more now, a huge battery drain. I attach the screenshots to give more datas to anyone can help me.
I already performed hard reset After march update with no improvement.
Thanks for the help.

For those individuals who have received the August update: Have you seen any improvements in any sectors (battery, stand-by drain or anything else you thought was a bit lacking prior to update)?
Keen to receive the update in Australia.
Cheers

+ 1, even i want to know if battery life issues have been fixed in the update
After some days of use the battery life seems unchanged, but I never had battery drain problems before.
Got the August update in Australia a couple of days ago.
Noticeable improvements for me are that standby drain is improved now. Previously overnight (AOD off, wifi/4g off) it was draining about 5-7% over a 6hr period. Now with the same conditions it barely drains 2%. Yet to test standby with wifi/4g and AOD on.
Anyone else see anything that I may have overlooked?
Cheers
Got it yesterday for TW sku
nothing here in uk
was hoping will get the note 7 light wiztouch design - maybe not then
still waiting for mine even though my s6 had it a week ago , samsung are abit slow on these updates and both my phones are international models so no network waiting only samsung waiting
1 thing i don't like about august update is Gallery, it's look awful.

Hello, I have got the update yesterday, and I noticed too last night that the stand-by drain is very less now
Additionally, on earlier firmwares the phone would not go to "deep sleep" after charging, you have had to restart it every time after charging to get it to go to deep sleep. That issue is now fixed and the phone goes normally to deep sleep.
nope.never got August update. Still waiting on August update for the S7 Edge in USA Florida

October security patch make my battery worse

Hi guys,
On November the 3rd I updated my S7 edge No brand to October security patch. I think my battery is worse than before.
Now I can make 4 hours of screen on, before I could make 3 hours with 50% of remaining battery.
Any of you has the same issue?
No, same as before for me.
So you already saw this behaviour for ~1 month now, constantly?
What are your main battery eaters in the battery stats?

I wrote wrong, I installed October security update on November the 3rd.
I experienced this drain over the weekend.
ANDROID SYSTEM
KERNEL
SCREEN
STANDBY SIGNAL
Me too had apparently a greater battery drain on BPJE (with October security patch).
I mean apparently because in the same period I also received the Android Wear app update to version 2.0 that might cause the drain.
Today I've installed the BPJG OTA update (with November security patch), and I'll report the situation after some significant battery cycles.
Security patches can't cause this.

Of course.
But IMHO the ITV October OTA update didn't contain only the security patch, as its size was 156.42 MB!

My phone updated to G930AUCU4BQF3 on July 10. Battery is <10% by 4pm. Previously, I'd still have 20% left when I plugged it in it's usual overnight charge at 11 pm. I also have apps launching on their own while the phone is not being used. Clear all running apps, set the phone down, come back a half hour later and 3-4 apps are active. A podcast launched itself and began playing in the middle of a seminar yesterday. I've not launched that player since before the update.

Yep know how you feel. Mine also is lower by the end of day than before this Security Update.
Since the update, I've noticed that my phone feels like a toaster oven when I'm on data.
This update for me seems to have undone the good battery time I had been getting. Fast charging seems wonky as well.

Poor battery life after February update

Since February update I am getting very poop battery life, usually I used to get SOT of about 6hrs but now it's dropped to only 4.5hrs.
I have accubattery installed and noticed that battery use while screen is off is too much. Yesterday during night it drained 25% in about 6-7hrs of screen off and wifi off.
Anyone else also facing this issue?
Also I noticed since the update, apps are staying in the background usually even after 1-2hrs if I didn't remove the app from recent apps it was working in background but now even after 5-10mins of not using the app it's getting removed from the background.

Install greenify. Hibernate those apps. Might be some apps running in the background without you knowing. I'm on Feb update and I'm still getting 6-7hr SOT.
This has nothing to do with a security only update. I'm pretty sure the problem is caused by one of your apps which you've recently updated.
Install GSam Battery Monitor and BetterBatteryStats and see what's wrong.
Same here and I'm losing my mind. Not sure if it really is decreased or my brain is playing tricks on me. I haven't had the phone for too long, so I only had the January update for 2 weeks or so and I really feel like the February update decreased my battery life. I have set up Greenify and Amplify. I've also disabled sensors for Google Play Services with XPrivacyLua because I noticed that the body sensor was using a lot of battery for it.
Edit: Ok, I'm pretty sure I fixed it and I have no idea how. I just know that it got fixed after a restart, even though I restarted my phone before. And I'm pretty sure it was RCSService that was eating the battery.

Hi bro, I am also having the same issue. The device is installed with same apps that was before updating. I charged the device upto 90 and went to sleep. When I woke up after 7hrs the battery is drained to 55%. Android services and android system(RCS) took the battery. Did a factory reset and no issue. Still getting along with this. Any improvements mate?
Same here, that's why I reinstalled the global rom with january update only.

Yes, you will be able to get de OTAs because you are installing the official ROM, and bootloader will be automatically re-locked by the Mi Flash tool.

same here, i got 1% discharge in 6 minutes when i was in January update, but after i upgraded to feb security update, the phone discharges 1% in about 4 minutes. Yes, but the charging speed remains at 1% per minute.
I have to charge it twice, whereas a single charge lasted for a day. . i will wait for the March update

I have the same issue (mentioned in other thread with Blutooth) - and I have the same apps for couple of weeks (I am not a heavy user, app tester etc.)
If this is an app - it wolud be the update of it only...
Facing same issues. Dropped from 7.5h of screen-on time to 3.75h after February update. I wonder if it's time to move to LineageOS with MiNT kernel

Major Issue After May 5 Security Patch

*Battery drain very fast even screen off
*Slow charging again
*Low sound in speakers
*Camera quality poor
*Over heating also when not in use
*Sometimes screen shows black/white
*Apps still crash
How much you have issue from these??
I can feel that battery can be a bit worse, my battery drains more when I watch YouTube, but no overheating or slow charging. Everything except battery life is good for me.
Yes, battery draining is huge....
After updating i see very often my wifi not working, it's randomly disconnecting

But my phone over heat with in 10 min of watch youtube video and drain 4-5% in that time& charging time taken 3hr from 0-100.
Well, I didn't want to update since they updated the bootloader and now I can see that was a good choice. In your case I'd flash back the april build since it's stable.
The the May update for version 8.0 cause a wipe after unlocking the boot loader? Or is that only happening on 8.1 beta update?
Can someone clearly confirm, please?
what the fook do beta testers do
simple bootloader unlock will wipe data too.
From what i read here it is beetter not to update but wait....
Luckily I can't relate any of below listed issues!

Yes, it's always better to wait patiently and observe, not rush into something without informing about it.
No issues here, in fact it's the best build released yet imo
For me it's better than April one.
Zero issues so far. I did a clean install a couple of months ago because clearing my GSF to get Oreo quicker (I know, I know ) led to some issues. Have been enjoying this phone twice as much since. The clean install made my phone a very stable device once more and I've had zero updates with this and previous update so far
I dont know what you guys do to your phone, really.. Last May update up and running without ant issues (stock 8.0)
I can´t notice any difference. Seems to be only a security patch.

Yup, Unlocking bootloader does wipe your data when in your May patch.
No issues here either, all running sweet as before.
Everything's fine for me. Let's not panic over one single report of issues.
To OP, I guess you've already tried to fully stop and restart the phone (not just hit restart button)? If this does not help, I know it's painful, but Hard Reset could solve your problem.
Last option is go to warranty to get it fixed.
