Camera starting slow - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hi all.
After updating to Oreo the camera is slow on starting.
I have tried other camera apps but it's the same. Even Gcam after rooting does the same.
Is it possible to speed up the startup?
Thanks.

If you are rooted with Magisk, you can install the Magisk SELinux Permissive Script module (this will change your SELinux mode to permissive) and the camera start-up lag will be gone.

Yes. Personally I am waiting for the Dolby Atmos mod (by ahrion) to be compatible with Oreo.

There isn't anything to open, you'll need some app to toggle permissive/enforce, if you want to do that.

Do you people know that switching selinux to permissive TURNS OFF SECURITY FEATURES in android? Basically every software can read into every other. This is a very huge issue! Not a solution!

Same thread again and again. When are people gonna use the search function?

Ok then, please provide a link to a thread speaking about this issue. Your reply is useless, destructive, and meaningless. Why do you even write someting like that?

It wasn't even necessary to search, it's on the first page already, about 6 topics below this question. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/help/properly-fixing-oreo-magisk-camera-lag-t3729709

I installed a Magisk module that's a fix for the issue of the camera, and it worked flawlessly

Can you help me how to install magisk and how to do it with steps?

Now it looks like Magisk SELinux Permissive Script is discontinued:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-magisk-selinux-permissive-script-t3577549
and Magisk SELinux Manager should be used instead.
Has some tried it (Magisk SELinux Manager)? If so, how did s/he install it?

ViperFx

Did somebody manage to properly run ViperFX? I found a thread over at en.miui.com, with a flashable zip but no instructions. On my old smartphone I had to remove AudioFX and cmaudio befor flashing ViperFX, and also set selinux to permissive. I tried the same with my redmi but it didn't work. Also setting selinux to permissive causes problems with my password recognition, oddly.
Also there is a thread at 4pda with an attachment, which however I cant donwload or which is removed.
So, anybody got ViperFX running and can give a propper instruction, would be very welcome!
I use ViperFX as Magisk Module, it works fine with LOS13 by jacoghi 05.06 ROM build, just flash it after you've flash Magisk v12. It works good as well with xiaomi.eu(as i've used it on xiaomi.eu 8.1.3.0 ROM build before). And yes, i think you have to set SELinux to Permissive for it to work properly. You can download it from this link.
Hello.
I run V4A in stock 8.2.4.0 with no problem, downloaded from official site http://vipersaudio.com/blog/
I put a simple script to set selinux to permissive in tasker at device boot, and everything work´s OK.
No problem here with password or anything else.
Sorry for my english.

[GUIDE] How to install ARISE sound on 8.0 Magisk

UPDATE 1-07-18, This guide is now OUTDATED, for android 8.1, please reference this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/how-to/guide-ultimate-audio-battery-guide-t3727124#post75100735
Install ARISE on android 8.0 oreo passing safetynet
I am not responsible if you break or damage your device in any wayHi XDA, this is how to install ARISE on google pixel/XL using Magisk
Safetynet is passed on this installation, V4A drivers are working
Prerequisites:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767141554"]Arise aroma installer
Magisk v14 or greater
Arise magisk compatibility module
SE linux permissive Magisk module
Steps
Root your device using Magisk using HOMEBOY76's Guide step 9
Open Magisk Manager and install osm0sis's Busybox. It should be in the downloads repo
Reboot
Go into TWRP
Install the SE Linux permissive module zip (installing Magisk modules works on TWRP)
Install ARISE aroma (install any audio mods you want V4A 2.5.0.5 is recommended) (ICE sound breaks Android O's speakers, so skip all of the ICE sound profiles)
Make sure you skip the SE Linux permissive script, remove Deep audio buffer and repair SDCARD permissions
Install the ARISE Magisk module zip
Reboot and enjoy a better sound quality
I want to thank TopJohnWu, Jamesoolee, HOMEBOY76, the ARISE team, Jman420, Zack, and Ghost for making this possible
Great! Can confirm. V4a working with magisk! Had to install the permissive script through magisk. In twrp gave me error mounting system.

Thanks for this. Do you know if the Magisk permissive script passes safety net?
If not, can it be toggled easily?
Thanks!

Does this install still require you to delete apps from system/app in order to get to at least 400mb of free space?

Before installation i deleted some apps with filemanager in twrp (gmail, chrome, hangout, talkback) to get more system space. Then i followed exactly the steps of kingbri. Must say i only installed minimum of arise mod (core and deep buffer remove, nothing else). Before installation i dirty flashed stock image and deinstalled supersu.

[xposed] [mi9]

I've followed these instructions and success:
How to:
First of all you should have Magisk
Then you need to remove any old version of Xposed
--------------
Downlad:
https://1drv.ms/f/s!ApAcGV57xzrWhUsToUCAw0Y_LgYh
Open Magisk then flash:
1-magisk-riru-core-arm-arm64-v10.zip
2-magisk-EdXposed-arm-arm64-v x.x_beta-release.zip
Install:
XposedInstaller_by_dvdandroid_19_10_18. apk
Reboot
Done!
Tested on my Mi9 with debloated xiaomi.eu rom and additional I've installed gravitybox p and it's working with a lot of mods.
For example status bar see attached picture

You are following a tutorial from january, files could be outdated.

May be it's working if you install on a non rooted device and start up normally settings in the app, then close the app, make a titanium full app backup with setting all data in titanium. Saving backup on otg disk.
Root phone, set up the phone completely, restore the app via titanium, don't start the app, choose hide the app in magisk, reboot, start app
Hi,
I've tried to install edxposed with magisk manager :
1 ) Riru Core V19.4
2 ) Reboot
3 ) Riru - EdXposed (sandhook) V0.4.5.1_beta(4463)
4 ) Reboot but bootloop
I must desactivate the Riru EdXposed module with TWRP and mm.
Does anyone encounter the same problem?

Thanks for reply.
I've tried with tour step (without reboot) but with magisk module (download from magisk) --> bootloop
Try tour step and your files --> no bootloop but not working
Between the two "way", i've remove all the module.
It works to me.

cts profile fail

i went from stock everything, oem unlock, fastboot install of twrp fajita, flash stock rom downloaded from oneplus, then magisk
then i was having an issue with magisk , viper audio wasnt working properly
restarted to recovery, meant to wipe dalvik but pressed something else and borked the phone.
wiped everything, re installed the twrp recovery, re flashed zip. re flashed magisk again
now, i have to turn on magisk hide ( to pass cts profile ), which is something i never had to do before and i cant find netflix on the play store.
what can i do to correct the cts profile fail please.
Use this module: Magisk Hide Props Config
It requires: BusyBox, installer in this thread first post.
To activate the module and chose your new certified fingerprint you will need a terminal emulator, you can use any one you want really, personally I use this one.
Any questions ask.
Hi
I tried this, everything went through smoothly enough but it did not resolve the issue. To be clear this is what i did.
downloaded the magiskhide props module, installed through magisk
downloaded the busybox installer , installed through magisk
restarted
opened terminal, ran command 'props'
went through the process or redoing the files for the fingerprint reader according to make and model of my phone.
restarted
disabled magiskhide in magisk
restarted
still failing cts
did i miss something
it also mentioned that i am using a custom rom, i am using a stock rom downloaded from oneplus. i have unlocked the bootloader and am rooted using magisk .
do i need to re download and start again?

Why are you disabling this? You need Magisk hide enabled. I rename Magisk as well. My phone passes safetynet and CTS. On the latest version of Magisk MagiskHide is off by default, it used to be on by default. TopJohnWu announced that a while back here.

I have tried the magisk module and it is not working properly. It freezes up trying to install the driver and then it does not show that it is processing. Once I restart the device it tells me I need to install the driver again which freezes up and then does not work. I have installed it about five times now with no luck. It really really needs to be updated

Hi, on my previous device, I experienced this and, either upgraded the apk, or downgraded the apk by uninstalling (magisk apk), reinstalling older version, & reboot. You can find all the released apks on APKMirror. I'm personally using the EXOS magisk ROM, which has options for viper and Dolby Atmos(w/ EQ), with the module Audio Modification Library.
Just flash the 2.7.1.6 zip on magisk manager, reboot , open viper, install the drivers , reboot , done..

Is yours working ok via the EXOS rom? I also have that installed but Viper won't process unless I have "Attach audio effects" toggled on in settings. On other phones, I've had to toggle this on and off right after and it would work, but with current setup, I have to leave it on for it to work. That may be causing problems with it not processing using youtube for me.
Do you have installed audio modification library?
Is viper4android working on the lastest OTA and magisk?
