ADB SD CARD is simply applying the file to the sd card, going to recovery on your phone, select apply update adb sd card and that's it.

I got it to work thank you

It probably didn't work due to the following:
Wrong model, this will only work for the regular Galaxy S8 G950U T-Mobile version, not the S8 Plus.
Wrong software version, you have to be on G950USQS2BQL to be able to update the Oreo Beta file.

Do these need renamed to "update.zip"
Also thanks!

Thanks for that information. Now before I flash this build. Are there any bugs or glitches that I should be concerned about? If need be how do I go back to stock?

Well, I mean these are beta versions, getting bugs & glitches is kind of expected lol As of right now in this version, I've experienced very minimal problems. It runs very smooth, it's one of the best beta versions yet. I do experience some lag after a week or so, but that's expected. If for whatever reason, you run into problems, you want to or need to go back to stock, I do have the ODIN files to flash back to stock, if needed. Just let me know.
Unfortunately, as of right now, there's no method or version to avoid your device from being wiped. You can back up your data with smart switch.

You'll probably have to reflash stock recovery back on with Multi Tool and then hopefully it'll update manually via the dload folder method.

B313 is reported as beta version as you will find here. It´s odd you got the OTA notice for a beta.

Its most likely for the Indian honor model and not the EU model PLK-L01 , see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7/general/plk-ul675b330-marshmallow-update-honor-t3316697

S7 will be unresponsive for a few seconds randomly

So I rooted and flash my s7 back to stock. Since then and after doing a couple of full factory resets and with no SD card in the phone's "recent" and "back" buttons at the bottom will light up, screen stays blank during this, then the phone will not wake up for a few seconds. Even if I'm pressing the Home and power buttons. Happens randomly.
I've used Package disabler Pro to disable all bloat ware, but still didn't help. Really not sure what to try next.
Any thoughts?
thanks
When you flashed back to stock, did you flash all 4 files via Odin? You didn't use Home_CSC, did you?
I believe I did flash all 4. But would you have a link for flashing so I can preform it again just to be sure. I didn't use the Home file either.
thanks

The one I linked is the exact same Marshmallow build you already have.
The U-firmware I mentioned is also Marshmallow. I did a short write-up with pros and cons in this forum a few days ago, along with a link to the firmware.
Finally, nothing that you flash with Odin on this phone will be rooted. The engineering (root) kernel can be flashed with Odin as part of the process to root the phone, but it won't flash a rooted system.

[OREO] Oreo Beta on ANY USA/Snapdragon S8/+! [04/10/18]

Hello all - the Oreo beta is now officially over for all devices and unofficial beta devices may need to be manually migrated to the release branch:
Note: Your device will receive OTAs after this update.
Note: Please use Updato or SamMobile to acquire the latest firmware for your device if you use AT&T or Verizon, or use XAA for a clean, unlocked experience.
1. Use SamFirm to acquire the latest Oreo build for your device (if not AT&T or Verizon).
Enter SM-G950U/SM-G955U/SM-G955U1 depending on your model.
Enter your desired carrier code, or XAA for unlocked (common are TMO, SPR)
Select Auto, Check CRC32, and Decrypt Automatically.
Click Download
2. Once the download is done, extract the archive.
3. Use the patched Odin 3.13.1 from @realbbb. This is necessary for carrier-switching, including to unlocked/debranded/XAA.
4. It is safe to use HOME_CSC to preserve your data, but if you're switching to an unlocked build or switching carriers, you MUST use CSC (data will wipe).
5. You can also use CSC to wipe your data and get a fresh factory start.
Previous post:
Howdy - here's how to get Oreo!
OLD PROCESS FOR BETA 1-2 IS BELOW - Move on to Beta 4 below!
Credit to @norbarb for the leaked update!
Try at your own risk - this is for the brave
First, read this:
Code:
Since we don't have a flashable CSC for the unlocked firmware, your phone will be branded with whichever SIM you have inserted.
This means your unlocked S8+ will become a TMO S8+, for example. It all depends on the inserted SIM.
This is compatible with G955U/U1 and G950U/U1.
Warning: Back up your data! Your phone will be reset.
Step 1: Be on the AQGL baseband. Skip the below steps if you're already there.
You can do this by downloading your AQGL package and ODIN below. Extract the ZIP, open ODIN, and connect your phone in download mode.
Then, select (from the ZIP you just extracted) BL, AP, CP, and CSC (NOT home csc) in their respective slots. Don't change any other options. Select Start.
After this is done, your device will boot into recovery.
Tip: If you're getting verification errors in ADB, you likely don't have the latest version installed.
NEXT!
Step 2: Flash the Oreo update package:
Download the Oreo update package below.
Connect your phone to your computer while it is in recovery.
You must have ADB installed. Open command prompt or terminal.
Sideload the package by typing "adb sideload XXXXXX".
You may see multiple errors/warnings. Ignore them.
DO NOT touch or unplug the device until it reboots on its OWN!
Last step
Open your device, and perform a factory data reset. This is mandatory.
New! - Update your Google Play Services to v940. Thanks @Dudash
Code:
As always, anything you from XDA is done at your own risk! There's a chance that someone got something wrong, and you could mess up your device! Please - if you want to be safer, wait until a bunch of people have tried a given ROM/procedure/tool before you try yourself!
There's a bit too much instability for the moment in the update schedule. Once the correct build is confirmed as Beta 4, I'll update the OP to the new method.
Thanks for sticking around, guys!

Hi all, here's the new process for beta build installation:
1. Install BQK5 (Nougat)
2. Install Oreo
That's all, and here's how:
[1.] Odin to BQK5. This will wipe your data. You must do this no matter what software you're currently on.
Select CSC_OYN, not HOME_CSC.
Important: This update contains bootloader 2, which means that you can no longer install any updates based on bootloader 1 (i.e., AQJC).
All new updates are based on B2, so you'll need to eventually do this anyway.

Question one, I checked for updates and it still says it can check for them. So I believe that is a yes.
2. Depends on your baseband you have and carrier. Aqgl is the lastest baseband for Sprint phones I know for sure. So the new one is the Oreo one being a completely different version.
3. Only way to revert is data reset. Wipe the whole phone and take it back to the way you got it.
4. Knox and all the stuff still works. Samsung pay and all that. So Knox doesn't get tripped.
I have found so far everything I use works fine or better than before. Substratum is working flawlessly along side samsung themes. I can't stand their keyboard so I ditched that. Camera is way better. Setting are more open with way more options. I don't see a downside. I turned off my other s8 that is rooted to use this as my daily driver.

1) While it appears to "check for updates", you will not get updates. We all will have to wait for a developer to load the next version files for us, again.
3) A factory reset WILL NOT REVERT YOU TO NOUGAT. You will need to download and flash via Odin the appropriate .zip file.

@dmezh,
Thanks for bringing this over from the AT&T thread. I've been on this for a couple of days now, an it has been flawless for me. Zero issues. It's my daily driver now.
And I want to emphasize to all users, the importance of your instructions regarding factory reset: on a major system update like this you have a big risk of system conflicts resulting in issues if you choose not to. It's a lot less work in the long run to just bite the bullet and do it now.

You have to be on the listed firmware. Cannot be on anything but what they posted. I downloaded mine from updato just use Sprint XAS. It will reinstall Verizon bloat on first boot. Also install nougat and before rebooting it will take you to recover just install the Oreo beta then before setting up the device.
Does this by chance have wifi tethering unlocked in beta??
I wonder if there is a way to root the beta yet
Just to be clear, this has been tested on the Verizon G950U? Very cautious when dealing with Verizon Samsung devices that don't have unlocked bootloaders... Thanks in advance.
Yes I personally did beta 1 on my own device and successfully flashed back when I was done testing.
Beta 4 is now available. Buttery smooth and good battery life. Only glitch I am seeing if fast charging is hit or miss.

You have Orea beta 4 on Verizon? What is the build number? How did you do it? With the latest update I am now on bootloader 2 so I don't think you can do it like originally posted.
I believe you can still get to it. What update are you on with your phone? I was on I believe Verizon's latest and still flashed back to the OP then to AJC and then ZQKM.

The latest firmware is a 2 bootloader so I don't think you can go back--2BQK5
Go into download mode and look at the bootloader line if it says B2. We might have to look into a different method.

How to download Android 9 Pie update on Galaxy Note 8

This forum for us note 8 lovers has been kind of dead so I decided to liven it up.
I take no responsibility for it and stumbled on the page by accident. Don't see info on this anywhere here yet so....

Downloading as I type and gonna try it. I'll report back or you can take the leap of faith yourself ??

Thanks for pointing that out, but why would i be looking at a verizon thread? Ah never mind.
Does this doe a clean install or just update you from 8 to 9. Also is it good to use on sprint tmobile and Verizon.

It just updates it all of your stuff should stay intact but I would still recommend that you make a backup and save whatever you really want because some times things just go wrong.

Thanks for the heads up. It worked great. No major issues so far. A little glitch when pulling settings down when locked. But besides that it is amazing. Alot snappier everywhere else.
I have a TMO running the unlocked firmware N950U1UE5CRK1. Can I flash the TMO update.zip on top? Or flash the TMO US5CRK1 first? Thanks!
nevermind, can not be done, switching firmware to US5CRK1
If you are already in US5CRK1 you just need download UPDATE.ZIP and put it in your phone SD Card. Then boot up in Recovery Mode and install update.zip from there. Enjoy

I have N950USQU5DRL6 and already on Pie, how do I get DRL7? I downloaded the update.zip CRK1 to DRL7.
Reason I ask is because last time I was on DRL5 and just flashed the update.zip which brought me to DRL6.

I'm using v3.13.1 Patched.
So far no issues with DRL7, love the UI improvement and no audio issues like others had been having.

Check Netflix. When you watch a movie, does the picture show, or do you get a black screen and audio only?

Unfortunately I do not have Netflix. I use Plex and Amazon prime video. No issues with either.

Prime video works? I can't remember if it was broken in DRL6 or not. Netflix for sure was.

Checking right now.
Edit: nope it's not working but Plex plays just fine. Might be a security permission for prime and netflix
