Is OOS 5 really Oreo? - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

As the title says... I find it hard to believe this is oreo when we got nothing oreo in our release, except the version number. Or am I missing something with this release?

no, it is still Windows CE

Well, we got PIP, rootless substratum support, face unlock and some other "oreo" but sure, if it was really oreo there would be unicorns and dragons flying around. it's gotta be nougat.

If any of you used any oreo custom rom before, you would know that there is alot missing in oos 5.
Face unlock? That is not in the oos 5 for op5, but it was tweeted that would be added... Are we talking about the same thing? Why would the settings menu be so different from the oreo and miss options?

It is Oreo, it contains Oreo's features and it's compatible with them. However, some of the framework is OOS 4's, and the HAL's are Nougat. It's Oreo, the OS is Oreo, just some things in the framework are ported from OOS Nougat and the HALs too.

No, that's not Oreo......
OnePlus was joking with us.

yeah sure... I get it. It's oreo made to look like nougat...
I guess someone at op didn't like full oreo
Mod: why do you delete my replys?

This is from the latest version of xXx's NoLimits ROM for Oreo.

If you want face unlock install the latest version of NoLimits ROM.

Settings section has not changed as we have in stock oreo

OxygenOS port with Nougat

Hello,
Is there any rom port which is based on oxygenOS in the nougat version?
Or is there any nougat rom, which i can use with the "Sparkasse+" app (not working with root) which is based on nougat with the features of the oxygenOS features?
Thanks,
Phil
There is no OOS Nougat port for this device and I doubt there will ever be one. I suggest LineageOS 14.1 or GlassROM if you want safetynet to pass.

An OxygenOS port is possibile but it will never be a full port but only a partial one. It could be possible to port the launcher, the camera (without libraries) and some features but without properly nougat drivers it won't be so stable.
You can try all no pre-rooted custom roms

Is there any Oreo ROM works for dual SIM on Axon 7?

I have recently bought an Axon 7 and tried to install many Oreo 8.1 ROM posted here, but none of them works for dual SIM.
This is seems a known issue for all Oreo ROMs.
Just want to confirm it is still true for all Oreo ROMs, or there is any fix for this problem.
I have been searching around and found nothing.
Thanks!
Yes, it is true for all current Oreo roms and no, there won't any fix unless ZTE releases their official Oreo rom or someone is able to fetch the source fix from them. Even so, you can wait until LOS 15.1 is officially released, I heard the guys behind that rom might have a very stable Oreo source (from ZTE maybe), but don't quote me on this, I know nothing.

Best Rom Nougat for battery

Hello everyone, I have a nexus 6p rooted with magisk 16.7, twrp, with last version of resurrection remix 8.1.
I really liked this version, but there's an accessory for Pokémon go (go plus) that I can't get it to work at all on oreo version (on 7.1.2. Nougat it connects on first try). So im asking you guys, what Rom do you recommend updated to 7.1.2? I would try resurrection remix Nougat but I cant find any official links with Nougat version =/
Thank you all

I would just use stock Nougat but if you insist on using a ROM pure Nexus.

But I just watched a review saying Pure Nexus was really bad at battery conservation. The video is a year old though, is it better now?

How is your battery doing now? I get 3-4 hours SOT on Nohgat currently but want to upgrade to Oreo.
Did you go stock? Or pure Nexus? Or another ROM? I replaced my battery about a month ago

Pixys-Os vs Resurrection Remix Oreo

To me they seem the same but that Pixys-Os is Pie so which one should I install? because maybe Pixys is not that stabe or has terrible performance / battery so I would appreciate feedback from people who tried both of them
If you want to stay with oreo than get pixel experience rom final build. its the most stable oreo rom out there. If you want pie than install pixy os.

update from 8.1 to pie. proper way?

Hi
I'm in resurrection remix 6.2 which is based on lineageos Oreo 8.1.
I'm using magisk, Xposed Framework and exposed edge which is important.
My question, if I want upgrade to pie, what is the safest way? Should I go with lineageos 17?
Edit: do I have install the stock pie from Xiaomi first, or is it enough to install a pie custom Rom. If latter, do I have then to update modem firmware or will this be done by the custom rim itself?
Any hints appreciated.
