future OTAs - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I have a moto g5 plus which is not rooted but has an unlocked bootloader and twrp. If I get a security patch or Oreo update in the future do I have to do anything special to apply the update and if I download and reboot from the update screen what happens?
Thanks

You need to be on stock recovery for getting any type of update wether it is security update or major rom update.
If you download and update from update screen custom recovery (twrp) open and nothing happens or you get error in custom recovery (twrp).

Will the Oreo update be 64 bit instead of 32 bit which the stock rom comes with and does the moto z2 force come with a 32 bit rom because that's a weird decision especially since the snapdragon 835 is a very capable SOC.

Most likely not. It's unfortunate that Motorola doesn't make their OS 64 bit.

Do you think it's a way for them to save money

I doubt it. It's definitely easier to build a 32 bit OS but not much more work.

I don't think it is possible to update from 32 bits to 64 without erasing all data.
Don't forget that there are people using the device thst knows almost nothing about technology, so it could be a problem for data loss.

Moto G4 Play on 64bit mode

We all know that the Moto G4 Play, has a 64bit processor, which currently runs the system in 32bit mode. Will the device have enough power to run Android Nougat (or Marshmallow) in 64bit? Would you gain more performance? I think it has enough RAM.
Well all Moto products have this issue. It can only be fixed by Moto devs(though i read that some xda devs were able to do so but thats not official and some bugs are still there.) Moto has becoming quite disappointing since they released the update for N in Jan of 2018, after 1 and half year of N, and that to only brazil and some other countries. Lol, i dont know what are they trying to achieve with this.

I think if the devs who developed the 64-bit version for g4 (Athene) try, they may be able to create a stable kernel and ROM, but there are few devs for harpia

Can anyone develop a 64 bit rom for our device?

For moto g5 plus there is 64bit custom rom will our device get 64bit to get Google camera 5.0 working.

Actually, g5 runs snap 625 which is a 64 bit architect processor, where as 617(just functional is each for us).
So now you may have understood that its not the rom but the support from processor.
One should have easily rom it till now. But what the use of psp in rural area[emoji16]

True, i checked in snaps official page and 617 is a 64 bit processor, sry for posting w/o verification.
Pn developer about it, may they can reply more efficiently and tell us also what they says.[emoji6]
If you gays are not soooo lazy you have done some research on the active threads and found the the procesor is 64bit but the bus is only 32 so is not worty have a 64 bit os since the bus will need twice cicle to transport the data.
Htc a9 has 64bit os and it work fine

It is really nice that the developers are trying to make a x64 build for athene, but is los 15.1 the best option?
Because it is not stable by itself, and trying to make it stable AND 64 bit compatible at same time, isn't it too much effort? I understand that one way of thinking is "we can make it stable with 64 support already!", but maybe a port from 14.1, which is more stable, for 64 bit would show if it is worth or not (it will show what a 64 bits build can and cannot do, also performance), and in mean time, try to make 15.1 stable
I know that Dreamstar is doing almost all the job alone here (15.x and 64bits builds), so I'm thinking in try to make the 14.1 build port. I can code, but never did anything like that, not even close

BLU R1 HD Update V. 9.2

Hello, I just got the notification to update my Blu R1 HD, the version of the update is v 9.2.
Someone already updated? is stable?
Thank you
Yes it's stable, no changes except the April 2018 Android Security Updates.
I'm very surprised Blu is still sending out updates for this almost 2 year old device, that's better then some major brands!

Don't give them too much credit. They are just attempting to make up for the numerous security debacles that they had with most of their phones in 2016 and 2017. Plus the security update is from Google, not Blu.
Blu likely only pushed the update to stay on good terms with the FCC. Who recently put Bans on Huawei, and ZTE. Why else would they update a two yr old phone, when they cannot provide promised nougat updates for several phones.
They are not reputable, they published marketing literature, made claims on social media sites, and in interviews where they promised nougat updates for phones released in 2017 that came with Android 6.0
A year later no updates.
I understand that Miui 9 can be installed on this phone. If I can figure it out I will share the files here.
Will there be a modified version of 9.2 for people with rooted phones?
Thanks!

I guess I am not stock since I am rooted and running xposed and removed ads.
So am I correct that to apply this update I should re-flash your 9.0 full ROM and then run your updater script before installing su and xposed and running the commands to delete the ads?
Thanks!

Yes. Look at the last couple post on the modified stock romntjread. Confirmed installs of the patch from stock v9. They went the long way and "de-bloated, un-rooted, etc".
Re flash v9 then the patch should be fine.
8 still need to edit the first post over on that thread to add this patch.

You can buy a LeEco S3 for $89 it has 3gb ram,Snapdragon 652 ( 8 core processor) 32gb hard drive, 1080*1920 resolution, 3000mah battery and about 30 working custom Roms. We have 4 leecos in our house 2 LePro 3s and 2 Se3s.
I just sold one of my Blu R1s for $50, almost pays for an SE3. Blu should embrace the developing community and release the source code to these phones, imagine the respect they would get.

Hi, I don't know how to update my stock R1 HD, I had only updated it from the same cell phone to version 8.4 but it only indicates that there are no more updates available, how then can I put this version 9.2? thanks

64 bit rom

With the recent Pokemon Masters, I am looking for a 64 bit rom. The game only runs on 64 bit unfortunately.
I searched the forums a bit and it looks like it was mostly mentioned in 2017 and early 2018. Not much of it is discussed in 2019. Is 64-bit rom a thing any more for the g5 plus? Or are all Android 8 and upwards 64 bit by default?

Pixel experience is easy to install and use. There are 3 variants of it, normal one, plus edition and CAF edition (discontinued). You don't need any additional file or anything else. As soon as you have your bootloader unlocked and twrp installed, you can flash this ROM and you're good to go. For easy unlocking of bootloader, I'd suggest Moto g5+ toolkit. You can check how to use it online.

1st of all you put your question in wrong place... and btw now all android custom roms are 64 bit...

Help with small predicament please *reward*

Hello all,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 T- 597V (verizon oem locked) and I need to install an app on it, DJI FLY for my drone.
- Now the app will not install. I tried to install the apk file directly from the tablet, I tried to install it via adb with no luck.
- The tablet it OEM locked, so I can not root it.. I updated it to android 10 from 9 hoping it would let me install it.. nope,
- The DJI Fly App requires 64 bit, the tablet is 64 bit, however I am not sure if the android v10 thats on there is 64 bit
I've been searching for days.. my tech savviness gets crappier the older I get, I really suck at the internet now LOL
The reason I want to use this tablet specifically for this is because it's the perfect size, and brightness which is very hard to find. I have a couple of other tablets and phones that I use for my drones, but this would literally be perfect. The next solution is just to buy another tablet, but for the price range nothing compares to this, and I feel like a hoarder and will get yelled at by my SO for having so much crap.
If anyone can find me a solution, scouts honor I will pp/venmo you $50 same day, no matter how big or small the advice is.
- is there anyway to force install this app?
- is there anyway to root this locked device or a workaround to install another OS?
- Anything I can do at all besides buying another tablet which is my last resport?

It's definitely for the advanced user and the chances of something going wrong is high, but it specifically lists the SM-T597.
Before attempting the above, you should try to ask someone who has been through the process to run device check to see if the OS is 32 or 64 bit in that thread.

The XDA forum links might be dead due to the migration on Dec 1, 2020 from the old platform to Xenforo. People were warned about it, but not everyone saw the notice I guess. I didn't check the other links though.
Sometimes the OEM unlock option is just people cut&paste instructions. Some tablets have it and some don't. I don't know about yours specifically as I don't have it.

If the app requires 64-bit, and the OEM does not allow you to install a 64-bit version of android, you are SOL.
