Help Selecting correct TWRP/Odin for SM-G900W8 (Dec 2017) - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to install TWRP on my Samsung Galaxy S5 (Telus Canada - SM-G900W8 - Stock Android v5.1.1 ROM) using Odin.
I have found this list on the TWRP site: https://dl.twrp.me/klte/
IIUC, I need to select one of the TAR files to flash with Odin. My plan is to use TWRP to update my device with a Nougat ROM (likely LOS, RR, crDroid.) and root.
My question is: Do I use the latest version, or should I be using an older version?
What about Odin? I found this site: http://www.**********.com/download-odin-tool-for-samsung-galaxy-devices-all-versions/, but I'm not sure which version I should get.
My questions is: Do I use the latest version, or should I be using an older version?
And these apprear to be the correct drivers: https://androidmtk.com/download-samsung-usb-drivers
Option: Samsung Galaxy S5 (All Variants) which points to hee:
http://samsungusbdriver.com/download/samsung-driver-v1-5-63-0
Also are there any MD5s/SHAs for Drivers/TWRP/Odin to make sure that the files haven't been tampered with?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions/assistance.

Working TWRP for SM-G900W8
For the record I can confirm that TWRP v3.2.1-0-klte works for the Canadian Version
of the Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900W8
https://dl.twrp.me/klte/twrp-3.2.1-0-klte.img.tar.html
And I used this version of the ODIN Flash Utility for Samsung
Source: http://downloadandroidfiles.org/file-php/?File=/Tools/Odin3v185.zip
File Name: Odin3v185.zip
Filesize: 198.52KB
Uploaded: September 25, 2012
MD5: 0c21e86a38c7868b0b50396eee85721f
It's maybe not the latest, but it seemed to to the job. There seem to be a lot of infected versions of ODIN floating around, which is why the link is *** out. When I didn't get any answer I tried that source, but VirsusTotal flagged the file as infected, so I used an old file that I found a year before. This one seemed to be OK.

Hi,
Much newer odin you can take from this link (Instructions section):

Root S3 i9300l (XXUANF4) latest kitkat

Until now this firmware I9301IXXUANF4
was unrootable, because towelroot didn't recognize the device, since the kernel has been patched.
I made it to root, by simply downgrading the kernel to the older version XXUANC6 dated 22 march, as @geohot says on his site " .. should support all phones < jun 3 2014
click the lambda, install the apk
run towelroot"
that was just a simple thought I had today. to grab the older firmware and flash the older kernel over the new firmware.
The procedure is simple. update normally to the latest firmware either with OTA or odin, as you wish.
Then go into download mode and flash the kernel dated 22 march from XXUANC6 and reboot.
apply towelroot like normal
if you want the new kernel flash the XXUANF4 kernel. or stay with the older kernel. your choice. Enjoy.

I think, there is no benefit to root the mobile.

[Need Urgent HELP] Trying to update a G900F (G900V)

Hi, I bought a "new" s5 from someone on Gumtree.
I am in the UK (England) and use EE network.
The phone seemingly works fine and I did checks to see it's not a fake, but it's on the the old Lollipop version. I want to update to the most recent firmware Marshmallow, but can't.
When I press the "Update now" in "About Device", nothing happens.
I tried to use my PC and update via Kies 3, but it says I have the latest firmware available for my model.
Can anyone please tell me if I can update my phone to Marshmallow? How do I do it? I'm kind of desperate.
I have read a bit about this Odin application and have downloaded it. Would anyone be so kind as to direct me to the firmware I would need and if it's safe?
Thanks a lot.
I've attached a couple of pics of screens I took from of my phone.
One has info from an app I downloaded onto the phone, called "Phoneinfo"
*Edit - I'm not allowed to post links yet, as I'm a new user.
Basically
Phoneinfo states -
Manufacturer/Brand = Samsung / Verizon
Phone Model = SM - G900F
Device Type, Product Name = kltevzw
About Device state -
Android Version = 5.0
Baseband Version = G900FXXU2BOG5
Hardware Version = G900V.05
Security Software Version = MDF v1.1 Release 4
KNOX Version = 2.3
Standard SDK 5.3.0
Premium SDK 2.3.0
Google the Verizon PD1 .tar file (it may be in a zip file) and Odin that in the AP slot. That'll give you stock marshmallow.

Hi, ok I did as you advised and it worked.
I have Marshmallow and it recognises my 4g lte.
When I switch the phone on and it loads up the home screen, a message comes up saying the Sim card is not Verizon etc, but after a minute, the "H" turns to "4Glte" and it works perfectly fine.
Thanks for your help!
The latest stock for G900V is PL1 which you can find here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=529152257862693698
Use ODIN on AP slot as before.

Patched Odin 3.13.1

For those looking for a modified, modded, or patched odin that is a newer build than all the fake and renamed prince comsy 3.12.3 versions floating around.
I patch recent Odin versions to offer similar functionality to the princecomsy; in that it ignores both the sha256 fails and the model mismatches.
- Developed and successfully tested for my verizon samsung s8 g950u to g950u1 and combination firmware packages.
- Confirmed working on an unlocked S9+ g965U1 to VZW g965u
- additional confirmation: G950w from G950u
- able to flash T727R4 firmware to T727V
- confirmed working with S21 5G from G991U to G991U1
- flashed G998U VZW to G998U1 XAA
- confirmed S22 S901U VZW to S901U1 XAA
- successful S23 S911U XAU to S911U1 XAA
Ignores and bypasses the below stop conditions:
"FAIL! Model mismatch fail" (all PatcheD versions)
"FAIL! SHA256 is invalid" (all PatcheD versions)
"FAIL! Blocked carrier" (PatcheD versions >= 3.14.1)
Be careful flashing!
+20180313 - Added Stock odin 3.13.1 sourced from pedant87 / Added PatcheD odin v3.13.1
+20191211 - Added PatcheD v3.13.3 and original 3.13.3 for windows, Merry Christmas!
+20191218 - Added the only clean and original v3.14.1 for windows
+20200216 - Added ModdeD/PatcheD 3.14.1 for windows! Supports newer phone flashing methods. A new check method for a carrier flash halt has been removed!
Caution #1 - There are many stock/mod/patch copies floating around the internet with redirected links and other misleading claims and changes. The XDA links below are the only source for clean originals and the original 3B files.
Caution #2 - All v3.14.4 are hoax/fake versions of odin. It is version 3.14.1; same filesize (and one other variant in size, due to larger resource changes). All have internal resource modifications to report 3.14.4. Often includes a known cloud-based client-server communication dll (cpprest141_2_10.dll). I suggest that it be avoided. It adds no additional functionality over 3.14.1. See post here for more detail.

Hey mate,
Just a quick question / concern .. Just ran an analysis on your file here -> https://www.reverse.it/sample/89c6e56e97d68c1f73ca6c5438cfe68a0e36d626d4c41ba04c9065d06bd193de
While I can't see too many differences after unzipping your exe and running a comparison with a hex editor against your original odin you provided .. still the online analysis results do make me ask the question
"please explain?"

Please note that Eudummy did not run reverse it on the OP attached executable file. The sha256, executable type, and file size do not match the file he tested at his provided link. I am wondering why he would test a different file with the same filename? Just a plug for reverse it? Anywho... To help calm others...
The patches/changes are:
Operationally I patched as indicated in the OP (encryption and model fails).
All other changes are visual. ie. main graphic bar, version code, and url text/address.
That is it. Simple and has helped many to flash their phones!

Hi,
I got an SM-G950F with CRED firmware.
I'm trying to OEM unlock it but option is missing from dev settings.
I tried using 3.13.1 BBB Odin to flash a Nougat firmware but it all fails. Tried to reboot into download mode and hit start several times but they all fail.
Is there any other way I can get OEM Unlock to become available? Trying to flash TWRP and root on a new phone.

I have a full stock firmware package (.tar archive) for the SM-G930VL TracFone/Net10/Straight Talk Galaxy S7. The firmware is recent and can be flashed using Odin v3.09 or later (for best results). If you still need the package, let me know. I'll upload it to my cloud hosting and get a direct URL posted very soon.

Ok, I actually found an Android File Host link for the TracFone/StraightTalk/Net10 firmware package for the SM-G930VL Galaxy S7. This package is actually Build No. G930VLUDU4BPL2_TFN4BPL2. I am very sorry for the misstatement. I had originally thought this was a recent build. However, I do have the most recent Verizon firmware package (SM-G930V), which will easily flash to the SM-G930VL using a current Odin version. This install will effectively convert the Net10/TracFone/StraightTalk Galaxy S7 to a Verizon Galaxy S7. There is an excellent conversion tutorial here in the device forums. (My own SM-G930VL was recently converted to the Verizon variant.) It also appears that the SM-G930VL can be readily converted to the factory unlocked variant by installing a recent unlocked firmware package w/PIT file via Odin.
Download Link:
SM-G930VL Firmware Package: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634751351
Again, if any of you guys need it, I have the latest Oreo firmware package for the Verizon variant (April 1, 2019 Security Patches) Galaxy S7.
Thank you for sharing? I just flash it to the unlocked variant SM-G930U and works perfect

T387AAUCS3CUD1 Firmware for SM-T387AA (Samsung Galaxy Tab A)

Hi!
Does anyone know where I can find the T387AAUCS3CUD1 stock ROM? I'm trying to fix a unit that I may have messed up by tinkering with custom ROMs.
Anyone?
Still nothing?
Hi also searching high and low for T387AAUCS3CUD1.
Any success finding it?
Samsung Galaxy Tab A (T387AA) - Software Update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A (T387AA) - AT&T
Get Samsung Galaxy Tab A (T387AA) support for the topic: Software Update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A (T387AA). Find more step-by-step device tutorials on att.com.
www.att.com
ATT is worthless - no support. OTA Android 8 won't update to Android 10. Says already current.
No luck yet :-(
Still no luck.
Someone recently gave me a SM-T387AA, came across this thread while looking for the latest firmware for the device. It does appear that T387AAUCS3CUD1 is the latest for the AA version, which I also was unable to locate. (probably because ATT uses their own servers for firmware instead of samsung) However, while searching, I also came across a newer version of firmware for SM-T387W.
Specifically:
AP VERSION T387WVLS3CVK2
CSC VERSION T387WOYV3CVK2
CSC VTR (Canada)
ANDROID VERSION Q(Android 10)

To my surprise, I flashed the 387W firmware on my 387AA with ODIN and everything seems to be working just fine. Still can't unlock my bootloader though. I see there's also a 387R4 variant. I might try that next, and will report back if I do.
Would this not though prevent a user from being able to use it on AT&T?

I popped in an ATT sim and calls/txt appear to be working.
Oh interesting, I wonder what the difference between the two firmware versions are then?

I used Bifrost. It can pull the latest firmware for most samsung devices that are hosted on samsung servers. Type in the model, "SM-T387W" and the CSC, "VTR", check for update and then download.
