Hi friends I'm testing still u11 with root and without root. After 2 weeks I can definitely said battery life on HTC u11 is more than one and a half hour screen on time better on device without root.
Even trying different kernels they don't helped keep a better battery life.
I thinking it is because Magic sk root program is the shadow app draining battery. When I install system monitor app I can see few times zygote64 app draining CPU not still but often. This root tool process is not recorded in any battery monitor app like better battery stats or GSam or etc. I'm thinking it is hidden from monitoring from The Battery apps. It can be seen Only in system monitor App.
So I recommend people which don't have great battery life like others make your u11 without root and you will see
Odoslané z HTC U11 pomocou Tapatalku

Magisk runs as a system daemon so yes, you won't see it's usage as any recognisable app in the battery stats (will most likely fall under "Android OS" or something similar).
Which version of Magisk are you using? The most it does is tail a (pre-filtered) logcat in the background so that sounds a bit like a bug. It even goes completely dormant when MagiskHide is off. The dev might be interested in a report https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/beta-magisk-v13-0-0980cb6-t3618589

[Q] Android System Battery Drain

I've checked all the threads I can find but haven't find a culprit for android system battery drain. I've done the typical things like reinstall, factory reset, clear cache, clear partition, sd card remove, run battery booster, juice defender, watchdog, better battery stats, Wakelock detector.
I'm rooted on ATT with safestrap running Foxhound 4.7 (KK 4.4.2) debloated, with all useless apps frozen.
Note: sreenshots were made on sunday when I hardly used the phone. Typically it dies by lunchtime.
Only thing I can think of is that it's a rom or kernel issue
Do a battery calibration by *#0228# or a battery calibration app.
use greenify.
Brightness setting doesnt be in auto mode
Disable context services or uproot it.
Changed my Rom and kernel, to see if it made a difference, and fit the last week it's been doing pretty well. Android system is still high, but not nearly as high. Battery life had also improved. I'm still not sure what the actual issue was because my wife and friend were running the exact same setup I the exact same phone and their battery life was fine.
So I hope this helps someone

So after a month or so it's back to the same old problem. Android system is super high, battery apps help but not to any significant amount.
This is really depressing
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Do not use battery apps or ram killers, waste of time
Get better battery stats from the play store and find out what's happening. If its happening after a month its probably something you're doing
You stated you already used BBS but didn't bother to post any related info so noone can help unless you give us something to work with...guessing won't work

Amplify, greenify, better battery stats: how to?

How do I use these apps to increase battery life without negatively affecting performance? Particularly amplify and batterystats since I'm not sure how to read the numbers given to me by those apps
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA-Developers mobile app
Most battery apps are pretty useless with cheap tricks like turning on and off WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS etc. I think we all know apps like Facebook, twitter and free to play apps are a battery drain, just go to settings and disable or delete the apps. When I used to be rooted on my oneplus I used to underclock or disable background apps and all this junk. My best solution to save battery was to turn my phone from 4g to 2g when I wasnt using any type of data other than calls and text messages.

There is no short answer to this question. You need to read the forums and understand what wakelock and hibernation mean. You can really foobar your phone's behavior by greenify-ing the wrong things or preventing the wrong wakelock.
I have used these apps as well and in my experience they did nothing to gain additional battery. For me uninstalling unused apps and keeping brightness at 40% worked the best.....and stopped watching the battery and just using my device was the best solution.
I know many will disagree with this, this is just my experience.
By the way I average 3 to 4 hours SOT daily.

Battery Monitoring App

Could you recommend a good app for monitoring my battery and how applications use it? I feel like the tool in the settings is lying to me and not showing all the apps.

Betterbatterystats or accubattery
Inviato dal mio SM-G955F utilizzando Tapatalk
Betterbatterystats
you won't regret
betterbatterystats requires root
Accubattery, gives an estimate of your battery size or mah
I'm using AccuBattery as well. Although I think it can only monitor foreground app usage.
It shows a variety of charging and discharging stats including voltages, %/hr changes, and tracks battery health over time.
gsam is the standard for proper monitoring of app use afaik but there seems to be bugs at the moment where even giving it the permissions with adb, it keeps forgetting that it has permissions and stops showing the complete breakdown of apps.
accubattery seems good but will only show foreground app usage, which doesnt help much since its the background app use that people need to monitor to stop battery drain. it does have some interesting stats like estimated mah of your battery and various forecasts of battery life based on % drain per hour and monitors your charging so you know how many charge cycles you have used.
wakelock detector IMO is good, since it monitors apps that keep your phone up even when it's not used, but it needs root and I don't know if ADB would have some workaround for that, which brings me to another question: is there any ADB manual/info that would list capabilities and functions it supports on Galaxy S8 in particular? Snapdragon S8 doesn't have a root, but maybe we don't need one, if ADB could give us similar functionality? I already came across one program that requires root, but has workaround for ADB as well, in case root is not available, but it would be nice to have one place to go to get info.

Why you feel the monitoring apps is lying? Is it when u total up the battery usage, you wont get 100% of battery charge? I also having the same problem....

Bad battery life on all phones? A curse?

Hello, so okay I agree the title is a bit too dramatic but I'm veryyy frustrated, so basically I've owned three android smartphones so far:
Samsung galaxy grand prime ve
OnePlus X
OnePlus 5
(a steady increase in specs)
And I have a question: why can I not get reasonable battery performance on any phone? On my oneplus X when I bought it, for the first few months I used to get 2.5 SOT and then months later I started getting barely an hour (45mins). No matter which roms or kernels I flashed, it made no difference. Battery saver on? No difference Greenify on? A small negligible amount saved...
Infuriated by this I finally came to buy a OnePlus 5 which I thought would put an end to this. However here I am, full of my battery saving habits still in me (which I have done so much research on to make sure they don't make it worse, trust me, I could write a battery saving wiki) and with a draining oneplus 5 in my hands. I've tried different roms and different kernels but still the same bad problem : a DRAINING BATTERY... I can get through a day with 3hrs SOT if battery saving mode is turned on but with a normal stock OOS I could never. I don't understand... I've tried BBS and GSam to try and find the source of this and still nothing. So I have resorted to the unofficial RR which comes with Lighting kernel which I have underclocked and use with battery saving mode on (not android's, ex kernel manager's one). So I have finally turned to xda so someone may be able to help me.
Cheers
Ps: I don't believe I am a target of the NSA and I have a special phone that is customized to track me...
I'd be looking at the apps you haveinstalled... Sounds like there's something running in background eating away at your battery life...
Or it's an energy vampire living in your home....
I am getting radically different battery performance with this phone day to day. One day it'll get a solids like 6.5 hours SoT and others I'll get like 4. Various issues it seems. Shouldnt be that hard to get consistent battery life.
Agree with above. Only common denominator here is you / your apps. But, stock+magisk with franco kernel and the app naptime is enough for me to get 5-7h sot out a full battery, but usually it's half full when I go to bed
You've mentioned that you tried many things to resolve this but I'll go ahead and tell you the things I use to make my battery last a little longer (hopefully there is something useful for you)
- Greenify with Magisk Module
- ForceDoze
- Location almost always on battery saving mode
- Force Doze for Google Play Services Magisk Module
- if WiFi is on, data will be off, and if data is on, then WiFi is off
- Bluetooth is always off if nothing is connected to it
- brightness is kept relatively low/halfway at most, the majority of the time
Running unofficial RR with Lightning Kernel v11 (1000hz version)
All this combined gives me roughly 9-9.5 SOT (about 140 apps installed)
If I forgot to mention anything, I'll edit it in here!
I've been very careful with my apps and I can't see what could be causing, I've tried third party Facebook apps instead of the official one for example and there's nothing strange installed.

Try with basic steps. Factory reset then:
1) Have totally stock OP5 - no "battery saving tricks", no apps. Run a bit. What is SOT? If less then average of 5-6 hours - either you have a "curse"/NSA tracking you or defective hardware.
2) Install your "battery saving trick" one by one testing after now and then. Are there any improvements in SOT? If yes, then write your wiki page, share your findings . If not, write your wiki page and tell us what application is a culprit.
3) Rinse and repeat until no more application left to install or you got bored.
I'm getting incredibly poor battery life after the latest update. I haven't let it fully deplete yet so maybe it just needs recalibrated?

There`s alot of sstuff activated on your 1+5. Try turning it off and check the SoT afterwards. Also some people were complaining because their Android-System was consuming way too much energy.

Oops, I meant to follow up on this. Android System and Google Play were causing a lot of wakelocks. I cleared cache in the Google Play and Google Services apps sad now I'm back to my typical 6-7 hours SoT.

Anyone uses "L Speed" or LKT or NFS-Injector or anything for better battery life?

These all seem to supposedly do the same things for our phones... tweak them for better battery or better gaming or whatever.
Has anyone had good results from any of these for battery life?
I'm going to start testing them myself, but I want to know what results others have gotten.
Thanks!
From my experience, there have definitely been no negative effects from using these types of tweaks. Almost since day one, I've used the older AKT 1.6 (I think you asked about that one last year) and then switched to LKT (picked balanced profile) earlier this year to test. Since I saw absolutely no difference in battery life between those two based on my light to moderate usage, I just kept LKT. I'm not sure what the exact benefits of these tweaks are vs. stock/no tweaks as I've been using them early on, but so far, there's no harm in having one of them installed as they don't interfere with anything I do on my phone (LS997, stock-based Nougat custom ROM, mk2000 kernel).
In case you're wondering about my typical battery life, I go from full to 10–15% in 1.5 to 2 days, averaging over 6 hours screen-on-time on a rotating pair of 4100 mAh Lithium polymer batteries that I had since last December.

Thank you.
Is there a particular app I can run for 5-10 minutes to "run" the phone a bit to them check Accubattery to see how much it's draining?
I would like something or some ideas so I can test each of these under similar situations and have a good comparison.

That would be difficult to pull off since app usage varies so much by user, and you probably won't see much happening in such a short period. The most common thing to do is use any battery monitoring app such as GSam Battery Monitor or BetterBatteryStats that shows details of how much battery each app drains and use your phone normally for at least a full day to see if there is any significant drain by any app during the period. You can find brief descriptions of those battery monitoring apps over here.

Valid point about the short period of time testing.
Here's my perceived dilemma:
Let's say I test the "l speed" for 1 day -- and play games for 1 hour and get 2 hours of phone calls.
Then I test the "LKT" for 1 day -- and play games for 45 minutes and get 1 hour of phone calls.
How can I tell which one is working best for battery life since the phone was used more on the 1 day than the other?

That's where longer testing periods would be more helpful to cover any differences/inconsistencies. Ideally, you'd want to give it at least a week to get a good sense of any battery life benefits/drawbacks vs. no tweak installed.

You can choose Extended battery, I am currently using one 10500 mah battery. Battery life is mindblowing. I lasted more than 1 whole day with heaviest usage ( 7 hours Video Playback, Calls, Hotspot for 5 hours, etc) and still got 40% left on the battery. Yea its kinda bulky but you have to sacrifice something.

That's not a bad idea. For now, though, I'll hold off on adding the bulk to the phone and keep tweaking. But it's something to keep in mind. Thanks!
In my testing, LKT can have thermal and ram issues, FDE can have thermal issues (both with battery above 115 degrees Fahrenheit.) FDE can have root ability issues as for editing files with root exploring app. Injector can have same issues, but not as bad. AKT still holds the crown in my book.

My main issue with AKT is that it seems outdated. It's no longer updated. Many have said that it won't work right with Oreo (which I'm on). I don't know.
Are you on Oreo?

No, I can't Stock Oreo. Can't root past ZV7. I have a Ls997 (Sprint).
Well If you still want full root ability, then possibly LKT, maybe injector. Lspeed I have no issue with either. Lspeed can be used with AKT, LKT, FDE, Injector, but don't set same settings as others apply or it CAN have bad results. With Lspeed it seems a lil more aggressive as to acting and you can feel a difference with lag/performance/see battery changes with Accu pretty quickly after restarting with after changes.
As for out-dated, AKT may be old, but it sufficiently works. The app is best. Kinda like our phones, maybe kinda out date, but blows most of/if not - any other away with it's abilities. To be honest, most kernel mods might be based if of AKT imo. There is a way to edit post appied AKT profiles for further customised settings that will stick as AKT fully boots after restarting that I found also.
You can edit the post applied AKT selected profile that you want to always work automatically after AKT fully boots (Superuser boot) by going to... Root/storage/0 (or local, whatever your internal storage is)/AKT/AKT. Edit the AKT file in the AKT folder with text editor, save, delete backup file, reboot. Copy and paste a backup somewhere else to use as needed in future. Found this ability after many, countless wonders if able. Yes, yes it is .
