Why do you need to bypass it? If you bought the phone legally then you shouldn't require this. Other than that, I don't know if there is a method to bypass it or not.

QuadRooter Vulnerability?

Looks like there's a new vulnerability that is able to achieve root through a couple security holes.
Ran the Quadroot scanner app on my galaxy s7 edge PD8 and it does show its vulnerable to this.
From what I've read, this malware can achieve root just by installing it like any other Apk app.
Would it be possible for Devs to purposely download the malicious malware and make a working towelroot like root method for our devices?

I just ran the app on the latest PG1 firmware and the app said this:

My rooted SGS 7 flat on pd8 ( the previous update) says not affected by it.
Well, I used a different app for the scan. Using the same app as you, I got the same results as you. S**t
Someone should contact @geohot and beg him to work on this :3
That or @jcase. Both would be great at this methinks.

These are no more dangerous than any other kernel exec vulns, and alone wont offer you anything. These will not unlock the bootloader, allow you to flash supersu, or let you change system.

So if you can't change the system, then why should anyone be worried about this? Sounds like if we can't use these to access the system, neither can malicious attackers unless I'm missing something.

Well they can exec code as the kernel, anf you could stack it with some DM verity or bootloader exploit, but alone the best you MIGHT get is a temp root

I have been talking to an agent from T-Mobile and he confirmed that they are doing nothing regaurding a bootloader unlock like some have been hoping for. So now I'm kinda pissed at them and mostly Samsung. It seems devs need to find another way to unlock the bootloader. :/

On an unrelated note, I damn near lost my **** at what you said...I originally came here from the Verizon S7E forums to see if you guys made any discoveries.
All I can say is that I may not have found anything useful in terms of progress for our devices. But I still leave satisfied. Thank you sir, thank you very much.

Root for Verizon?

I just got this phone (coming from an unlocked rooted VZW S5) and I'm pretty bummed out not seeing any root guides for this specific version (I know Verizon rooting is spotty). Can someone point me in the right direction?
Don't think this will happen, all of the devs basically have Pixels.
Nope. Root most likely will not happen.
Spotty is being optimistic...

What about using the Dirty Cow exploit? I've heard it can root almost any Android no sweat.
Has anyone tried Sunshine yet?
I've personally tried Dirty Cow, and I have yet to find a binary that doesnt break my device or not work. I have also tried SunShine, and it does not work.

Honestly, I wouldn't hold my breath with Nougat out... Only possibility to me right now would be hoping that Verizon released unlock codes to Moto like they did for previous X devices... But that won't happen for at least a year.
has anyone tried DR.Fone for root yet? on the site it says xt1650 is supported but only 6.0

Worth trying anyways right? I'm on Nougat too now but my office is blocking the installer from downloading otherwise I'd try it.

Installing now, but pretty sure it won't work with nougat. Someone should try if they still have MM... There isn't a way to roll back to MM?
**EDIT** Does not work on Z force droid with Nougat.

Damn. I don't know of any way to rollback without custom recovery or unless Motorola has an Odin-like utility.

Motorola's version is called RSD Lite...although I haven't used it since owning my DROIDX and X2. Switched to Samsung for a few years.

Hmmm.... Might give that a try further down the line. I've also enabled the OEM unlocking setting and I've been wanting to tamper around with that for a bit but I don't know if you can actually unlock and be able to do anything with that because of Verizon.

From what I've read that toggle is only a 2ndary safety toggle. You still have to submit to Motorola to get an unlock code and Verizon has forbidden it.

So sprint will unlock the bootloader if you request it?
Also my phone keeps trying to make me do an ota, I keep saying later because it's hard enough trying to figure it out now, do you know what the latest update is about or where I can read about it?

I meant sim carrier unlock. The s7 bootloader is locked down pretty tight. There is an update to b8.

Any news of a205u Galaxy A20 bootloader unlock being available?

Any news of the bootloader being able to be unlocked? Does anyone think that with a future OTA even that it's possible Samsung will allow us to check or uncheck the damn oem unlock box since we don't even have this feature as developer mode is engaged!? Love the a20 but damnit haven't had a rooted device in over 2 years. I miss it lol
No news yet.
