[FIX] Cannot view or copy photos on PC - Moto G5 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello,
this problem is specifically related to photos all other files work fine.
Recently I´ve had problem with viewing and copying photos from phone to computer.
The files were visible, but windows couldnt open them or copy, it says: "file appears to be damaged, corrupted, or is too large". I´ve found some identical problems on internet, but no solution, so I would like to share my guide.
After reading about usb drivers, encryption, decryption, a thought came to my mind, that it could be some kind of protection of Antitheft utility. So I uninstalled Prey app and bualla, photos are accessible!
Hope this will help all other users facing this problem.
Best regards
Jakub

Problem downloading from PC to storage card

Hi All,
Newbie here so please be nice
I have only had my XDA Mini for a few weeks now and have just tried to copy files from the PC straight to the storage card via Activesync. I open Activesync and click on 'File' then 'Explore'. The explorer window opens but I get this message...
"Critical communications services have failed to start. Try resetting the mobile device, and then connect again."
I have reset the mini and rebooted my PC many times but it has made no difference. What does it mean and how do I fix this problem?
I believe this is an issue with the built in XP firewall... Install another firewall, disable the built-in one and try again.
Hi,
I have the problem as well from time to time. As an alternative I found out, that you can place files in \My document\<Device name>_Syncronised Files (or similar, sorry I use the german version). If you acitivate ActiveSync feature of syncing files, these files will be transfered to the device. You cannot access the memory card this way but at least you can transfer files even if the 'Explore' funtion is not working.
regards
marco
Thanks Guys.
Marco, I have been downloading via My Documents without any problems. The problem here is that I am limited to the memory on my device. I need to download straight to the Storage Card as the files are larger then the internal memory.
Sunoke, ill try the Firewall thing and see how I go.

I have the same problem too, need help!! anyone knows how to fix this?thanks for any help.
Have you tried disabling file conversion?
Go to Activesync on PC then click Tools -> Advanced Tools -> Edit File Conversion Settings and uncleck the tick box.
If you are trying to copy files from the memory card then the best way is to put the device in Disk Drive mode. Connect device then click Start->Settings->Connection tab->USBtoPC->Disk Drive
I encountered this the other day, I think you can only copy files from the SD card to PC on the phone using active sync.
If however, if you want to copy files from your phone's internal memory, to your PC, i used a differnt program to do this, think it was either called 'My Mobiler' or 'Jeyo Mobile something' so try those programs!
I find ActiveSync to be an extremely poor program, I recommend using 3rd party apps to get full control over your phone!
I tried to use 3rd party application such as my mobiler, still encounter the same problem, any other ways?what the main problem that make this happen?help anyone?

Can anyone help me opening this pdf file in HD2

I was very happy to get HD2 to help me manage time and finish reading this book ,unluckily I couldn't
it says Unsupported security handler
the file is uploaded here http://www.4shared.com/file/155779165/2c990f8c/PMBOK_English_4th_Edition_PMI__1_.html
Have you found a solution? I am trying to read ebooks on my TP2 with the same error..
There's a known issue with the Adobe Reader application where it sometimes saves PDF files that can be accessed on PC, but not on some other devices. If this happens you need to open it on a PC again, and then save it as a different file. This normally solves the problem.

Can't transfer some mp3s from HD2 to PC

Hi!
Just got my TMOUS HD2. I copied some mp3s that i bought at emusic.com to the storage card and listened to them. Worked without problems. But I cannot transfer back some of them using Windows Mobile! One folder seems to be empty, in the other the mp2s are still displayed, but nothing happens when I attempt to copy them.
On the phone, the mp3s are present, I still can listen to them, but I can't move or copy them to another place with Total Commander.
What happened here? Is this a known problem? Couldn't find any help here or with google...
Thanks,
Hannes
Hi, How are you copying the files? Using remote file explorer? And whats the language of your phone?
- Herojit
Hi!
My Phone language is english (unfortunately for me, scnr). I start Windows Mobile and then browse the storage card from there. Is that the remote file explorer? (Sorry, my Win7 is in German)
Hannes
Hi, Are you trying to copy from Storage card to device storage and vice versa?
- Herojit
Yes, I tried to copy from storage card to device. With File Explorer, it does just nothing, with Total Commander, it says "Cannot acces file". When I try to transfer the files to the PC, it does nothing.
Also, i noticed that there is a file named ~hTC******.vin in all the folders that I cannot access. Maybe there is connection?
Hi, I think the file is Drm protected? Any chance for that? Can you check if there is a lock icon displayed on top of the file icon.
- Herojit
Hi Herojit!
No, the files isn't DRM protected (it was from emusic.com, they are all DRM free). It has the ordinary windows media icon.
Yours,
Hannes
Hi Hannes, now I don't see any problem, can you restart the device and copy again, I feel the file is still access by one of the player.
- Herojit
Hi Herojit!
Did that, no change at all. Another weird thing: my computer doesn't display any mp3s at all in the one folder that is having troubles, while I still can play them on the HD2. Another directory shows all the files, but cannot transfer them anywhere. This sucks!
Nobody ever experienced that? :-(
Hannes
From what I understand you're trying to copy those files while connected in "activesync mode".
If that's the case, you want to enable the "disk unit" mode.
If that is NOT the case, then Im clueless
Hi!
I had no transfer mode set up, just ignored that screen all the time. Anyhow, I figured out a practical solution: Windows Media Player was able to fetch all the MP3 from the Phone, even the ones that Explorer couldn't display. So I am quite happy now, but I'd still like to know what is going on with my phone...

FTP synching between MacOS X 10.9 folder to Note 8.0 ExtSD (Problem)

Hi guys,
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 running 4.2.2 on CivZ-FLEXBEAM Rev 3.4. A couple of days ago I got a notification telling me that my external SD card had to be formatted due to malfunctioning; I tried recovering files but neither Windows or MacOS X could read my 64Gb extSD. Needless to say I lost all my stuff, which was fortunately no big deal as I had a copy of most important files on my external HD.
I had a huge folder with a lot of music within, and a backup folder on my laptop. Now, what I want to do is synchronizing my folder on the laptop AND the one on the external SD (both are called Music). Looking up on the internet I bumped into this website which explained how to do this via FTP, which is perfect for me, as none of the ways to connect MacOS to my device worked. I downloaded Cyberduck, connected via FTP (through Ftp Server Pro on my phablet) and started synching; It all seemed to work but I really had to leave so I interrupted. When I came back home I tried the same procedure, ftp connection was ok, but I got an error from Cyberduck as the synchronization began: Invalid Comparison Equal. I tried over and over again but the same error would appear. The only thing I could do was a simple upload.
Now I ask you: is there any way to do what I want to do? Maybe Filezilla could do the same, but I didn't find any sync option. Please, help, otherwise I can't rely on me externalSD anymore
Thanks for your answers and time.

If someone should have the same problem as me: Transmit, It's a gread application to work on FTP, even mounts the server as a disk.
