Always on display stopped working - LG G6 Questions and Answers

I see backlight is working when AOD is switched on but everything else on screen is missing. I can not see clock or notifications. I cleared the data of AOD and AOD provider but it did not help unfortunately. Proximity sensor is working fine.

Hard reset or some app is interuppting your always on display

Did you change the DPI? needs to be stock otherwise stops AOD from working

After factory reset AOD come back to life.
Also it is working great with DPI changed to fit more content on the screen.

I use the 'display scaling' option when changing the DPI value. No root. We'll see.

Screen DPI

Hi, I've just jumped from my modded 240dpi N7100 note2 to brand new N910F note4 and with the 2560x1440 screen everything seems to me so huge on the screen
I have root done and now thinking about changing the size of everything on the screen to more friendly size, anyone has some experience with it on this new battle ground?
I will try to change build.prop but would like to ask first before I do something stupid.
thanks
update!!!
after changing the dpi in build.prop to 340 finished with boot loop

not yet, just going to reflesh it now with original firmware
update:
I am now after refleshing and back to stock dpi settings with no problems
did you try using https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.texdroider.texdroider_dpi
I used this app on my LGG3 which also has the same QHD screen and it worked perfectly
I've changed it to 480 which is about as small as I think is useful. No boot loop issues.
I did have to use the Xposed app 'App Settings' to reset the stock apps like Clock, Contacts, Camera back to 640.
The issue that everyone has that right now has no solution is the lock screen becomes misaligned.

I will wait a little bit longer for some 100% solution,
I've just changed now dpi in gmail and chrome using exposed app settings and it works for a short while but after several restarts just stops! now my app settings has no any impact for the apps
all is displayed in 640 dpi only, tried to re-save it again but no luck

Attached two screenshots - it looks pretty "normal" since I use Nova Prime to increase icon size and such (and you need to make Font size in display large), but you can see the status bar height in the first screenshot and the size of each notification in the second screenshot - much more compact.

Yeah it's a must for me. However be aware that it will misalign the locksceen if you use fingerprint lock. It doesn't impact functionality at all, just visual so I can live with it until hopefully a dev fixes it.
Is it posibble to change the default Samsung launcher to behave like on a tablet (allow landscape) that way? Or maybe installing a different launcher is the solution (do Nova or Google Now allow it?)? I am used to tablets and would love to use my Note 4 with tablet interface...
Hello
Use xposed framework to and install "app settings". Then use a build prop editor and change the ro lcd density from 640 to 480.
Then once you've rebooted you will see that some Samsung apps (including the phone and camera) do not scale well. To fix this - change their dpi back to 640 by using the "App settings" then reboot.
Voila.

Yeah i remembered same and tested to change it to 640 but still looking bad... So i'm thinking i need change something else (also?). Is there any other app than App Settings which i can use to change some apps dpi setting?
I personally drop my dpi by 80 on all my devices. So on the note 2 I went from 320 to 240. On the Note 3 I went from 480 to 400. On the Note 4 I went from 560 to 480 and everything worked fine with no boot loops. I used Rom Toolbox to change mine. I also used App Settings in Xposed to change some apps back for usability. Like dialer, gallery, calculator, camera, etc.

WOOT - thanks for the tip man. Changed keyguard to 640 in app settings, also clicked the apply res to widgets box (not sure if needed), and then rebooted. Simply using the option to kill app didn't reset the lockscreen.
However after reboot my lockscreen with fingerprint is back to 640 and everything else is still at 480.

Resolution wrong in certain apps. Running Oxygen OS 2.1.0

I have noticed with Oxygen OS 2.1.0 and older, some apps resolutions are off, e.g. wechat and textra. Please see the videos attached as they explain better.

I believe this is an OS issue because my daydream photos stacked are not on a third of the screen and are also shifted off (see picture).
I did change my dpi from 480 to 400; however, when I switched it back to default I still had the same issue.
I never had these issues with my 5.5" MI3 and OPO.
Any ideas?

try changing DPI with an app called "le dpi changer". (needs root access)
It properly builds the needed "ro.sf.lcd_density=xxx" line. xxx=your dpi settings.
Issue persists. I don't believe it's a dpi issue.

Try to empty cache/reset Textra to fix this. I use textra too and I don't have any issues with a dpi set to 400.

Any ideas? Thank you for your support.

Maybe try to use another keyboard. Your one seems to be a little buggy. (sry for my bad english, I hope you understand)
Did you use the wm density adb command to setup your dpi before edit the /system/build.prop file ? Maybe you had to reverse it with adb shell wm density reset (need a reboot) and edit properly the build.prop file to be sure that all is cleared.

Thanks Knonn. Good ideas, but to no avail.
Luckily after trying your suggestions I narrowed the issue down to my xposed module Flat Style Colored Bars. I will contact the creator for help.
update: it looks like others are having the same issue.

Navbar buttons offcenter after changing dpi

After changing lcd density to 240 my navbar buttons aren't centered anymore. I've attached a screenshot of the problem.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance!

Well go look in the systemfiles for the navbar settings file and change its alignment to centered or the width of it or reset the dpi. (Why would you even change it?)

Thanks for the fast reply. I changed the dpi because by default everything is much too large and too much of the screen size is being wasted imo.
Where exactly are the settings files for the navigation bar located? I've only edited build.prop before and I'm not familiar with the rest of the files.

I'll be honest with you. If you are not familiar with it you should probably let it be. But if you still want it you might want to take a look at these and probably even flash it.

I'm not quite sure but they should work on android 6 as well. Don't ask S3VEN for Support cause he is not here anymore.

Links are dead and by the look of it all it does is change the size of the icons. Having an altered lcd density would probably still cause the icons to be off center.
Thanks anyway. I'll install xposed and give gravitybox or some other modules a try and report back in case anyone else is also having the same problem.

thats how i did it. changed mine to 320 with no significant issues yet, and the guide was fairly easy.
what is standard dpi of a zmax pro, and if known, any safe alternate value(s)?
They all work for me as long as I disable the lockscreen notifications. If not it gets stuck with the screen flashing. I have fingerprint lock no notifications at 400 dpi. Works great.

this is solved, apparently themes are buying & don't respect your phone settings. went back to default
Don't use automatic 24 hour format in settings. Turn it off or on manually.

For me themes are working fine. Time is shown in 12hour format no matter what theme is set.
Problem must be in OP's region and theme settings. Theme store is working fine for k20.
