Just got it about 20 minutes ago.

The updates
What's changing: Android device security updates, including BlueBorne fix (on SPLs September 1 or later)

Just got my alert for it too. But I have learned, the hard way, to wait for others to go first.

Just make sure you uninstall any Substratum themes before you take the update.
Also ALWAYS have a good reliable connection. Bad service is the number one way an OTA gets botched up. It fragments the download and can cause all sorts of wonky stuff.
Just did the download myself. Installed fine. No issues.
Camera has a new live focus helper... Seems a bit useless, but I guess if people were having big issues with it then it might be helpful.

Also just for anyone who is interested

I updated about an hour ago without issue, but I had that camera feature before today. It appeared after I did a factory reset about two weeks ago.

Anyone know if this had the KRACK fix in it? Verizon's got this in their update along with the Nov Sec update and Live Focus update, just last week .

I've had a issue with the gallery since the update before this one. When scrolling through it randomly jumps back up or is almost unresponsive to my touches. The only way to scroll smoothly is by using the blue scroll button on the side. It's incredibly frustrating! I've done a factory reset and and it still occurs, even after this update.
It only occurs in the gallery app btw

In the settings menu of the Gallery app, are the first two settings turned on? I think this happened on mine a while back (although I'm not sure I'm remembering correctly) and I turned off the Samsung cloud sync and image analysis and it stopped. If this doesn't work, I must be thinking of something else. Sorry.
Edit: I have all the options in settings turned off and my gallery seems ti be working smoothly.

Faceunlock still broken for me with exchange EAS

No update for me yet. Anyone else still yet to receive?

Camera app startup lag/delay

Hey guys,
I've upgraded from S4 to S5 and the most noticeable (negative) change is that the camera takes significantly longer to start (from 1-2 seconds on S4 to 4-5 seconds on S5).
A couple of seconds might not sound a lot, but it is very frustrating when you want to capture the moment, and because your camera is taking forever to start, you miss it.
I know 2 other friends who has this complaint as well. Are there are any solutions to make the startup faster?
Thanks in advance
the lastest update firmware fix this issue, it improves camera speed, mine takes only 2-3 seconds to start up (with external sd card), its faster without sd card.
I do have the latest update I believe (when I check for updates, it says it's up to date).
i would recommend you to flash firmware, not ota update. or you could back up your apps and do factory reset to see if there is any improvement

My stock OS opens the camera fast, after the update it became3x slower. I should have not updated. I'm thinking the culprit is the first update because the phone prompted the first update the instant it first time it connects to the internet. I only did the updates after a month since I have no issues. But then the second update was already available and I thought to myself that I should not miss more than 1 update. As the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don;t fix it.
that's why i would recommend to reflash latest stock firmware, i personally don't trust ota update

[Q] [Ze552kl] Does Nougat have lags/stutters throughout UI ?

Just bought a Ze552kl off Amazon for a pretty sweet price of ₹16,725 (£191.14/$256.16) couple of days ago.
Though it was running Nougat 7.0 right out of the box, there were some minor UI bugs like on pulling down the notification panel it'd sometimes get stuck and the only way out would be to get to the home screen.
An update fixed that, but scrolling lag still persisted.
To rule out hardware issues I performed touch tests and though it managed to pass, it was difficult. I had to run it multiple times because it involved user input. It requires you to trace the boundaries of four shaded areas which are quite slim.
(Factory reset didn't seem to make a difference either)
I then tried a couple of touch calibration apps which brought noticeable improvements but it's still not enough.
So did I receive a faulty set or is it some software issue ?
Are you on the latest version of the ASUS ROM? I have a slightly different model than you, but I found the initial Nougat update to be very slow and buggy. Subsequent updates seems to have fixed most issues...
I guess, yeah, because I haven't received any more updates post the latest one mentioned on their website.
I really don't have any issues with this ROM except for the not-so-great touch response. It is a bit laggy, but that's all.
EDIT: Oh, and the Firmware is WW-14.2020.1708.56

Oneplus 6T software issues

Hello guys,
I bought my 6T a few days ago and have been noticing some annoying software issues:
1. When I unlock my phone it doesn't take me to the application I was using before I locked the screen; it takes me to the home screen.
2. The recent applications keep getting cleared even though I've turned the battery optimisation off.
3. In the lock screen when there's a notification, the ambient display shows the notification but touching on it doesn't turn the screen on. You have to hit the power button or unlock the phone in order to check notifications.
There a couple of other minor issues like apps crashing and then restarting that don't happen too often.
Just wanted to check if others are facing these issues as well and if someone has any solutions.
Those sounds like bugs in the OS, I say this since I'm experiencing the same issues on my OP6 running Open Beta 6 (based off OS 9.0.4 for the 6T).
Have you submitted a bug report on OnePlus feedback page? This way it will get the right people in front and get the issues resolved.

The device and oxygen Pie is pretty new so you gotta give it some time for software update.
Also do you have the tmo variant or the unlocked version?
Because the tmo variant has not gotten any software updates yet.

That's a fair point. I haven't done it yet, but I will. Thanks for suggesting it.

I have the unlocked version. You're right it's still pretty new and OnePlus might have jumped the gun a little bit in releasing this in an attempt to be there first OEM to push Pie. Let's hope they fix this in a future update.
I think I finally figured out why the recent apps get cleared. OnePlus has set the background app limit to 16 which is retarded. I remember it was the same on the OnePlus 3 as well. And of course you can't just modify the build.prop file to increase this limit.
It's things like this why we need root. I'm probably gonna have to do it soon if I don't find a way around this.

July update

New update
141.9 Mb
anyone tried it yet? any bugs or improvements??
No bugs.... Completed the update successfully just now..
Screen Rotation animation bug, nothing more
Successfully updated, no drastic changes or improvements at all. Overall experience & speed is pretty much the same as the previous update which means phone is pretty snappy.
There's just a little bug with screen rotation animation when rotating from horizontal to vertical which makes the bottom half of display to go black when doing so, but the rotation works normal.
Sadly there's no sign of camera2API or ARCore again! I'm gonna be pretty honest with you that I'm exhausted asking Xiaomi on their Twitter for those features. But maybe we can get a shot with a huge disappointing phone called " Xiaomi Mi A3" which many consider to be a downgrade. We'll see how that works.
The update wiped my google contacts of around 200. Thought it was a sync problem so I turned it off and on again, nothing happens. Deleted my google account and login again, same result. Then did a restore from google and guess what, restored just about 50 only. Checked my other device and the contacts weren't in sync for about a month, got around 200 contacts. After I sync from the old device, the number of contacts goes down to around 50. Had to save those contacts from individual chats on WhatsApp slowly. Guess this only happened to me. There's a rotation problem as the others had stated but no biggie.
Updated it successfully. Removed the sim card before restarting after installing the update (just to be safe, as pointed out in other blogs).
Can confirm that the screen rotation bug is there. The bottom half becomes black during rotation from horizontal to vertical, not at all bothering though.
Call logs bugs
i lost my called numbers after update
thank god that i have backup via G cloud
Anyone facing GPS issues? GPS not locking on correct position after June updated.. hoped July update would fix it..but nothing happened.
I've recently completed the update, the rotation lag is new... The emmc bus is still there, the phone crashes after moving a file (large size) crashes the UI and restarts the phone... Again the new bug is that I can't place conference calls, the UI hangs whole merging two calls and have to restart the phone.
After each update we're getting new and new bugs.
I know this is a long shot but can anyone with the July update check Widevine certification ? Is it still L3 or (hopefully) L1 ?
L3 unlocked BL

Question Lock Screen Notifications Crashing

Hi XDA,
I'm having an issue where every time i unlock my phone using a lock screen notification to go directly to the app, my phone crashes and goes back to the lock screen. Is anyone else having this issue? Is there a fix?
Thank you

I'm from Germany by the way, were are you from guys? Would be interesting to see if devices from a certain area have the same issues.
This ****ty software feels so beta its unbelievable.

Another EU version here with the same issue. Located in the Nordics
I'm also having this issue and the new update should resolve it!
