Root EMUI 5.1, wait for 8.0 or install custom rom? - Honor 8 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi guys,
I just got my H8Pro switching from OP3T with Oreo so I'm pretty sad that it's just 7.0. I know my eventual end goal is to root the device with Magisk and I'm wondering if I should root the current stock rom or wait till EMUI 8 with oreo (not even sure if I can use magisk with 8.0) which seems to be right round the corner?
The other alternative is to flash a custom rom over it but I'm worried that the camera will be garbage with a stock rom.
Would love some opinions!
Thanks
Josh

Camera quality will suffer on any rom other than the stock EMUI.
There's an EMUI 8 beta rom available for the device in the forum.

I've read that the beta isn't complete? Also that the beta can't be rooted by magisk? Is it easy to flash 8.0 over a rooted 5.1?

I have no idea about EMUI because it's my first honor/Huawei device.
You should probably ask in the oreo beta thread about it. [emoji4]

I'd suggest you wait for 8.0

There's no confirmation about it. Although a mail was received by many in mid November but when contacting with honor care, they have no info about it.

beta is coming to Mate 9 (already on 360 for c636)
Honor 8 Pro (no region and china)
P10 (started)
and probably more idk, but beta isn't too far away for C432 H8P beta runs great no real major issues with it so far

It will make it easier to bring AOSP (pure Android) to honor 8 pro.
There's already a thread in ROMs section by OldDroid, check it out

With project treble all vendors core files are separated from system so all needed files for hardware etc isn't in system Partition though while not everything works out of box its much less hassle and even hardware composer is working as @OldDroid said he probably can explain to but Google about project treble and all info is there

[TUTORIAL][MIUI 8][7.0+]Enable multi window/ split screen in miui 8 nouga

Hello guys,
I found a way to enable multiwindow or split screen feature in mi 5 running on miui 8 nougat! Also has the ability to swap the windows. Currently NOUGAT version is available only for closed beta not public beta. So the ones having it use this easy method
I made a video on it!!
Mod Edit: Link removed. Links to warez content.
Here are the screenshots

Lol, it's obvious. Redmi series phones only get one OS update (Kenzo updated from 5.1.1 to 6.0.1), while Mi series get 2 or more.
Check it out guys

MIUI 9

Self explanatory, when is Miui 9 coming on our devices? I searched in this forum and haven't seen anyone create such topic which surprised me.. is there anything wrong - as to why the development of Miui 9 for the Redmi 4 Prime (HM4Pro) hasn't started yet? More so, I see Redmi 4X receiving the Miui 9 update. Whats keeping the Hm4 pro miui 9 update?
The china dev should be released in late September or later. The important thing would be to have it based on nougat or it wouldn't be so useful.

Links deleted. Someone reports to the moderators on the miui forum.
And I was banned.
True, I did not find in the rules of the forum that you can not lay out links to the firmware that are found on the Internet.
Let this one write to me and show this point in the rules.

Which are the best Pie ROMs for the Huawei P10 Lite?

Hi guys,
I wanted to try out a new ROM for my device and so, I'm asking you: which are the best ROMs for our device? I know that there are a lot of GSI and other devices compatible ROMs, but which are them? I'm afraid of flashing something uncompatible and causing bootloop, that is a bit hard to face since it's my primary and only device, and for this I'm asking you.
What I need: no great bugs (it will be my daily ROM), smooth feel (I'm kind of obsessed by things like this, call me a fool, but THAT feel is half of the beauty of a ROM imho, lol) and Pie-Based with all the gestures (maybe Google Now in the launcher, but I don't know if this is possible mantaining the gestures).
I hope I'm not asking something that is impossible and thanks in advance for everyone who will answer!
I'd recommend the openkirin RR rom, it's oreo but it's stable as hell and made for kirin chipsets.

Most treble roms don't work well with Huawei devices, OpenKirin is workin on an AOSP Pie rom but it's still in early beta stages, you can find it on xda forums.
