Touch Vibration not adjustable? - Essential Phone Questions & Answers

The touch screen vibration drives me crazy on this phone. Every phone I've ever had I've been able to adjust the touch vibration. Even on the Gboard keyboard if u set the vibration to the lowest setting (1ms), it doesn't change the intensity. I know I could just turn it off, but I like to have just a slight vibration when I'm typing. I'm rooted with Magisk and Xposed. Does anyone know of any apps or modules that could fix this problem?

Google needs to add this to the sound & notification category. Samsung had vibration sensitivity and I would set it to a very mild vibrate, which was good, but the default one is too strong. Most keyboards even if you set the vibration intensity, nothing changes, still the same.

I tested the Gboard settings again just to verify. It actually does change the intensity. The problem is, the lowest value is not low enough. There's gotta be a way to lower this value.

Can vibration intensity be fixed with a software update? Isn't it more the hardware?

Yes, that is what I wanted to say: Even changing intensity to lowest, still it feels like a default setting. My Note 5 and Galaxy S8 were good, I could set it way lower and barely feel it.

What exactly do you mean?
Honestly, I disable the auto backlight and leave it at 25%. Plenty of brightness in nearly all situations, and decent battery life. Use the slider in the settings to get it just the way you want. The "Brightness Widget" from the market will also work once you disable the automatic controls.
I mean the auto backlight sensitivity when in low light situations dimming to much.
If there was only a way to set a minimum brightness, using auto backlight it would be great.
I don't even notice the auto-dim anymore.

Brightness Changes for no reason?

Anyone else having an issue with the brightness changing on their Note 3? I DO NOT have auto brightness on. Often times when using apps, the brightness will change, from maybe 100% to 70%. Its not a huge change, but its really annoying that it does this. I have a slider for the brightness on my notification screen, and it will still be at full when its at the 70% (Im not sure what the actual percentage is, just a guess). If I move the slider down and back up, its back to normal. Any ideas what this is?
Almost positive

I am almost certain that this is because of the screen modes the phone has in the display settings. You should by default be on Adapt Display and that will change the setting automatically depending on if you're playing a game, watching a movie..ect..
Hope that answers that for you.

It will be while already browsing a page, after a random interval, the screen will go dark. Not always, but it happens relatively often
Stock?

Are you on stock build, or a custom rom?

[Q] Notifications on lock screen

I have a couple of questions about this.
1) With Ambient display enabled, the screen pops on when a notification comes through, or when I pick up the device. If Ambient display is disabled, the screen doesn't wake for either circumstance.
- The way I would like to have it, is where the screen only comes on when a notification comes through, and not when I move the phone. For me, it's a bit annoying most times. Is there a setting or another way to achieve this?
2) When Ambient display is enabled and I get the sound or vibration for a notification, it takes a few seconds (3-5) for the screen to come on.
- Is this normal? I'd prefer it to come on right after the notification sound/vibration.
I'm currently on build MDA89D, and have fingerprint/pin set for lock screen security.
Yeah that sounds normal. It definitely needs some advanced settings to make it less annoying. I foresee custom roms in our future

Thanks for the response. I just wanted to make sure that it is working as intended, even though I'd like to tweak it a bit.

Vibration intensity on Moto X Style (Pure)

Is it possible to change the general Vibration intensity?
I'm not talking about the keyboard key vibration duration, I talk about the general strenght of the vibration motor wich is way to high with this device!
Even if I disable all vibration settings within an app, and just use a short pattern in lightflow, this phone is waking up the hole house if it lays on a desk.
Is there any custom Kernel or a root method, with a way to change the intensity like it is known from Samsung, CyanogenMod, LG or all the others? This little simple slider under Sounds wich let you set a percentage value for the intensity.
I love this phone, but this drives me crazy...
This was discussed quite a while back and I never saw any solution to it.

Tuning the vibration

Is there any way to tune the vibration (eg. notification, touch, global vibrations separately)?
Previously I've used Xposed modules, but Xposed is not available on Android N afaik.
I'm using EX kernel, and there are two settings for vibration in the EX kernel manager app, but the only that works is the first option "Vibration" which is the global setting.
The second "Notification vibration" slider doesn't have any effect whatsoever.
Also, I'm using Swiftkey as my keyboard, and the lowest setting for key press vibration is still too high, 1 or 20, there is literally no difference.
The only way I see it is to tweak the global vibration down, and then raise the notification/call vibration intensity.
I'm on Android N stock, rooted, EX kernel.
I have the same issue. I hate the vibration so much that I turned it off completely for all notifications. Anyway to tune the vibration to the effect that it's closer to the vibration of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. I'm looking for a softer vibration as opposed to the rattling strong vibration the Nexus 6P currently has.

I hate that I almost can't feel the vibration while the phone is in my pocket, and also hate when typing on the keyboard instead of getting nice haptic feedback, there is just an annoying sound.
That's why I'm looking to tweak it, it's really badly calibrated, at least in my case.

I am starting to think that maybe they just put a cheap vibration motor in the Nexus 6p.
