Smart Switch Not Working after Root - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

OK first of all thank you to the devs who worked hard on the root.
My problem is that Smart switch is not working at all. I get the unsupported device error on my PC .
My phone is the Galaxy S8+ t-mobile.
I haven't found a fix to this and I really need one to restore my 22gb of data on my PC to my newly rooted phone. If anyone has a fix please tell me.

URGENT : Anyone with a UK NEXUS S (SAMOLED) I9020

Hi!
If anyone has a fully functional Nexus S sourced from the UK (The SAMOLED version) or the European I9020 (not the I9020t or I9020a). Please contact me.
I need a few files from the system partition. There is an issue going on, in the development forums, which corrupts the phone's IMEI no.
The files are encrypted so do not worry i will not be able to get any info about your phone out of it. All i need is to get the correct device details. So that i can fix mine and potentially help out others with the same problem. (Trust me there are many).
Here is the thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034130
Please help out if you can.
We sure screwed up flashing that ROM.
Good luck getting your phone back, luckily mine still works...
Yeah, definitely we did.
If i can just somehow get my hands on the file, i can be satisfied that there is no hope.
And maybe, just maybe!, i might be able to fix it!
What happened?
Never heard of flashing a ROM causing such issues.
Well a script messed it up. I think the dev left it there accidentally.
And its not just me, tons of other people are in the same soup.

Ouch. Makes me think twice about flashing new roms.
This was probably due to a slip up.
What you can do before flashing any ROM's is to make a back up of the /EFS folder on your PC and the SD Card.
Hi i have a UK Samoled NEXUS S, i am willing to help PM me
Pm'd you!
Thank you so much!!
Hi all,
I also was unfortunate to flash this rom resulting in the changed emei issue.
My Phone was displaying emergency calls only and i was unable to connect to data services. I used Odin ticking the phone efs clear box . After rebooting i checked my emei number but it was still displays the wrong number. However my phone now connects to the network and i can make and recieve calls and data is enabled. Not a full fix and i am not sure for how long it will work but definately an improvement on the very expensive paperweight i had.
Hopefully a full fix will come soon.

Accidently deleted text messages! PLEAS HELP ME!

Hello
I have by mistake deleted all my text messages in my galaxy s5 g900f.
I tried to recover it by some of the different android recovery software out there with no luck.
After i desided to downgrade it to kitkat so i can root it and do the searches again.
Also this time it dont manage to find anything.
I dont know if it is because i mad a factoryreset after flashing kitkat with odin. The phone stayed in boot loop so i had to do it.
But when i scan with the different software out there. It finishes the scanreally fast. Dont think it really deep scans the phone in like 2 minutes.
Do you know any software thet REALLY deep scans the phone for recovering mytexts. Or some script for searching after the text files in the phone?
Please hlp me. i reallly need my texts

If reflashing your stock firmware does not fix it and it is not caused by something you should return it for a replacment, it sounds like a problem with either the wifi driver or hardware and that is why your phone is unable to switch it on.
An internet connection is required to ensure your phone can be activated and also to make sure it has no attached google account (i.e stolen)
Try flashing the latest stock ROM with KIES or Odin, if its not fixed then a Samsung repair centre could also help

Telling me there is an error and not telling me what the error said isn't going to make fixing it any quicker?
Try finding the original firmware on sammobile.com and flash it with Odin. If you get any errors, tell them here so we have something to fish with
Maybe going back to the original stock ROM and then updating through OTA's before re-rooting would work.
Remember I need to know what the error said.
Edit; Also, try with different sim cards with data plans, it doesnt need wifi to go through activation, just an active internet connection

Please One of main forum rule is dont bump threads. I know youre in a rush because u wanna know whats going on on your phone but keep this in mind.
My suggestion. Get Samsung Kies, hook up your Phone in Downloading mode and do a total restore. If this will not help you can also try samsung firmware downloader and flash everything custom to stock via Odin. Try first method if this will not help, pm me. If the hole thing will not work i think your EFS partition is bad or corrupted maybe.
I had a similar problem, the only way I managed to fix it was by using Samsung smart switch. Here's how:
I am not responsible if this ends up destroying you phone
1- download Samsung smart switch to your pc http://www.samsung.com/us/smart-switch/assets/downloads/Smart_Switch-PC_setup.exe
2- Put your phone into download mode ( Turn off your phone, press the volume down + home + power button together and then press the volume up)
3- connect your phone to your pc via USB cable
4- open Samsung smart switch
5- on the top right there is a option button click on it
6- now click on emergency recovery
7- now click on device initialization tab
8- now enter your model name. For example: SM-G928C
9- now enter your serial number. You can find this in your box.
10- after that agree to everything and it will start downloading your original rom. This will take a while.
After that hopefully you phone will boot up.
allready tried everything you writte. didnt help. but thank you guys for helping
thanks for help grsjohn, i havent fix efs yet. because i dont have so much time. just reading a little a day about it. i havent any efs backup or something.
can you tell me little more about efs? can i flash efs or recovery it without box? if its hardware, how you fix baseband? i tried only apps what need rooted device to solve this problem(with no luck). nothing else yet
thanks guys for help to solve the problem

Hello, I had many phones from clients with your issue, it's a hardware issue, baseband got damaged, if you flash different firmware versions and fix efs an result is still baseband unknown for sure is hardware issue. Probably guy from who you bought that phone knew about this problem, baseband cannot get damaged after frp reset, I do this kind of operations often and never had problems

if you are able to downgrade and root the files will be over written by the downgrade and root method both leaving them more than likely gone
so pretty much you have to find a no root program that is capable of recovering them in oreo
Do you know by chance any software that really works without rooting? Thank you!!
Did you check your backups? Try to find an app that scans for deleted files, or a terminal command. Device manager most likely wiped the space.. probably shouldn't reboot the phone either..
