Using a memory stick IN the TyTn

Hello everyone.
I did a quick search on the site and found nothing about this so im posting this. If this has been covered already and i missed it, i do applogize.
Now, to the post:
Sitting at my desk i looked at my memory stick (plain usb one) and i thought: "Wouldn't it be nice if i could plug this into the phone"
And here we are, my question: has anyone done this?
Is it possible without massive surgical procedures, to connect a plain usb memory stick to the phone?
I know you can use the phone as a memory stick, but thats not what im asking (just covering for various posts with links to the FAQ)
Kinds regards,
J
The TyTYN doesn't support the USB host profile which is what would be required for this to work.
What a shame.
Thanks for the reply!

USB - RS232 / GPS / data logger

Hello everybody,
first of all, I want to apologize myself for my questions, because they are often discussed in several forums (USB-RS232).
BUT I did not find a solution. Sometimes I found "it works" and sometimes for the same problem "no chance". Enough ;-)
I'm writing a program in VB.net to log
1) all data from the GPS at COM4 and
2) all data from an acceleration sensor which might be connected via the USB-Port of my XDA Orbit (HTC Artemis).
Logging the GPS-data is no problem excepted the speed of the Sirf star III Chip. Can it update faster than 1sec?
My main problem is the connection to the sensor. I know that port of the XDA is an USB-Client. The data I receive from the development-board is sent via RS232-out.
My question:
Is it possible to get those data-strings into the xda to log them via the existing USB-port? How can I implement it?
Can I connect the USB-plug and the RS232 like I found several times in this forum? Does it work???
The solution of this project is very important for me.
For everybodys help, I am very grateful.
Thank you very much.
Greetings from Germany
Dee
If I understand you correctly, you wish to connect an RS232 output to the mini USB connector on your device and log the serial data coming into the USB port? Yes, this is possible, but not without a PIC microcontroller in between. RS232 runs on, IIRC, +9v/-9v, while USB runs on +5v. If you directly plug an RS232 output into your USB input without anything in between you very well might fry your phone. I don't recommend it.
Fortunately, RS232 to USB devices are easily found, both schematics and pre-made adapters.
A quick Google search found this schematic:

Hi fluxist,
thank you for your answer. It sounds very good to me. But does it work with an USB-Client-PDA?
Thanx a lot.

[Q] Does X5 support reading external USB sticks?

Hey Guys,
need a little help here, I am not sure if its just me or if the x5 doesn't support enough power to boot a USB stick. I was wondering if others have ever tried or have problems with reading a USB stick (8GB - 32 GB)? Does this phone even supports it? If it doesn't is there a way to modified the kernel so it supports it?
Thanks,
Paul
Doubt that phone outputs any power from the microusb...

I don't understand the question... the phone reads microsd cards, not usb sticks...
what he means is this phone can work with usb-on-the-go like latest nokias, or galaxy s2 I think
its a cable that connects to micro usb and have a usb connection.
aka usb OTG
Hes asking if it reads usb drives as a computer. Probably not, cause it needs drivers to be coded specific for this phone.
Probably people with more knowledge can answer if it could be done

Deepsea controller software plugging

Hi Guys!
Software experts of Android keep working in various fields and they keep our life easier by making available different software those communicate with different hardwares.
I was just thinking why can;t they help us connected our Deepsea modules to P6800 to edit parameters etc/
They they envelope software which run on windows in such manner so that it will communicate with our modules.
I know P6800 can connect to UBS drives upto 1 GB with external adapter and USB cable with 2 male plugs.
One you connect to external power source and another you connect to hard disk.
It would be great help for Service Engineers like us while editing parameters of controller.
When i spoke to that controller supplier they are just busy developing other stuff and they have not shown any interest in that.
Hope it will inspire any of developers!
Thanks in advance for your development!

Ashwin
Will this facility available on high end devices like note 2/3 or note 8"?

[Troubleshooting] Nexus 6P - Latest MM - Universal USB Controller Support (NOT!)

Hello guys,
recently I've got a fully working usb otg cable and I've tried random devices on it, everything worked (like mouse and keyboard) or usb stick, except the Speedlink cheap controller I've got ... here is the question.
Does anyone knows if there are any mods tweaking it and allowing us to connect a usb controller too?
It will be nice if I could fix it because it will get me out of buying a bluetooth controller.
Have a nice day, George.
Worth the bump,
Can someone please direct me on how can I code it myself or at least discuss with me if it is possible?
It will be wise for the sake of my programming skills to get into it.
Have a nice day, George.
Bump, Im about to start the attemp of creating my own thing about this. Let me known about your useful knownledge about this thing!
EDIT:
I've already found out that it is possible to connect my controller.
