You must also have a pin or password, fingerprint cannot be set alone..
Turn off double tap to wake, turn off any gestures which may wake the phone from movement, it's possible that the phone is sensing your skin through your pocket.
It'll be one or the other. My money is on double tap to wake.

Obviously it can't be set-up alone bro... Also, I doubt it is because my phone is touching my skin. It doesn't turn on randomly when it is in a tight pocket. I also don't have any gestures that turn only the lockscreen on. I keep double tap to wake off. I only have double tap to lock using an app called button remapper.

Lol trying to help.. your phone will only turn on via a a gesture or via your skin.
Either way one of them is the cause.

You're not helping much, to be honest. I already said that it isn't because it is touching my skin. If that was the case, it wouldn't be turning on in my jacket pocket when unzipped. I already mentioned that none of those are the cause.

What can I say, you've got a one of a kind phone which magically does things on its own.
Perhaps you can call the A-Team or the Ghost busters.
Good luck with your phone.

Alternative way to turn on / wake screen (capacitive buttons / accelerometer)

Hi guys,
Got my Desire HD last Friday and I'm really pleased with it, stunning device. The problem is, I'm using a case which protects the phone nicely and looks decent too but the power button is very tough to press in (let alone without a case TBH). I have Cyangens "Menu Unlock" enabled but I'm wondering if there is a tweak or APK to enable the capacitive buttons when the screen is off so I can turn it on easily (using Button Remapper). Maybe even a shake to enable app to wake the phone. Oh, cover below:
When I had the Galaxy S, I could just wake the screen with the main physical Home button.
When I had the Milestone, there was an APK to allow me to wake the screen with the buttons.
Any help or direction would really be appreciated. Would love to be able to unlock it that easily.
Cheers #auggie2k

Buttons will be disabled when phone is asleep. The closest is to try "Tap Tap App" from the Market. Its free. Try and see how it could give you possibilities. Basically, it will allow you to set lock/wake permissions using the proximity sensor.
I use it as an alternative to pressing the power button all the time during shorter phone sleep/wake intervals
Much appreciated Jacob, cheers for the quick reply.
You can try WidgetLocker too, allow you to power up the phone using volume button.

Its possible without much battery drain I remember using Pocketshield with the HD2 where it unlocks when you flip the phone facedown and up or shake from side to side. Seems they're still hung up on Windows till now... I hope they come around to turn to Android soon

You're welcome mate! Test the proximity settings, I used to use "Easy Detection" but found it too sensitive, it unlocks with short finger waves which was cool but also gets screwed up with strong winds when outdoors... lol
Since, I've changed the setting to "safe mode (default)" and it responds well to 2 mild taps. Hope it works for you too!

Just installed "Tap Tap App", works perfect for me as an alternative unlock/lock. Thanks a lot!

Home Button wake disable?

Is there any way to prevent the home button from walking up the Note 7 without root?
I have major pocket press issues especially using Smart Lock. Pocket dials, changed settings and battery drain are a few.
I made sure the wave to wake function is off.
I would root if it were not for loosing Samsung Pay.
I had a wallet case on my last Note and it really got in the way taking pictures. I don't really want to go back there.
Thanks

Yes, I just confirmed that. I thought that would keep it off. There must be something else coming into play. Maybe my pocket is not dark enough?
I've been paying close attention to how much I wake the phone with the Home button and it would cause pain to lose it. But the being on in my pocket is worse.

Or you could always not put it in the pocket or wear looser jeans haha
Have you tried the phone facing the butt and away? Just a thought.
And have you checked to see its not the power button than the home button?
Also, set up a lockscreen, like a pin, Iris, or Fingerprint.
That would def help from it being unlocked at the least.

Fingerprint Scanner

This is my first Galaxy phone since the S2 (been with Nexus). I setup the scanner but it doesn't seem to unlock the phone or do anything when i try to touch it. Call me crazy but can't you just pick up the phone when its off(black screen) and touch scanner to open to home page? Seems odd that you would have to use power button to turn on display then unlock every time??
Thats how it works with the 6p, touch the scanner and you're off and running.

That sound you need to return phone for exchange
I've found that you have to be much more accurate with finger placement compared to the 6p. I think it's due to the size & shape of the scanner. It seems to want to learn a smaller area of your finger. The learning process for prints seems clunkier too. Try clearing and relearning your prints
i have the same problem. even cleared it and redid it but still doesnt work. is it a defect? maybe i need to exchange.

Yes. If I leave the phone alone for a while then try to use fingerprint it works. So you have to wait until the phone is ready for it (certain amount of time) instead of just using fingerprint whenever you want to unlock?

Strange. I can lock the phone with the power button and immediately unlock with my fingerprint.

Interesting. Maybe I have some other setting enabled. Are you using other unlocking methods like Iris etc or just fingerprint alone?

do you have it set to lock immediately when screen timeout or power button is pressed?
Works fine for me. Instantly unlocks once my finger is placed on the scanner.
Tried immediately after clicking the power button to lock and when the device is in deep sleep.

Just fingerprint. I wasn't crazy about the iris scanner since I had to lift the phone and line up my eyes.

I had it set to 5 seconds, but I changed it to immediately. Same result either way. Fingerprint unlocks right away.

Fingerprint scanner stops responding after ideal time?

My fingerprint scanner in almost 50% of casses not responding when pulling the phone out of my pocket, or when on table after some ideal time.
I read that there was a similar complains in older versions of 1+, but it seems that this issue returned back, or at least for me.
Anybody facing the same issue? Any solutions for this?
P.S.
Home button works perfectly, I'm on OOS 4.5.5, rooted.
Turn off pocket mode in advanced settings.
I prefer to leave it on to prevent pocket dials though.

Yea, I confirm that it worked, however this causing a different issue : everytime I am picking out the phone from my pocket, it shows "too many tries...", and I am forced to enter pin code everytime

That's because that's what Pocket Mode does, prevents you from using the phone while it's in your pocket, so your leg pressing the sensor doesn't use up all your tries. Disabling it would, if you didn't use all your tries, allow you to unlock it while pulling it out of your pocket. Leaving it on, if you are consistently using all your tries, would probably be faster

Nokia 6.1 Plus Screen turning on when phone is put in vertical position

A few months ago after one of the automatic updates, the phone started doing this. I don't use the lock screen, so the phone goes straight into the main menu so if the phone is in my pocket it will open programs, butt-dial people etc etc. I've noticed it happens when you bring the phone up to your face, but it also happens in many other situations.
I've looked all through settings and I can't find this feature so I can turn it off. Anyone else had this problem?
Check if on-body detection in settings>security>smart lock and Lift to check phone gesture were automatically turned on and turn it off.

So it might have happened that your power key is pressed accidentally while the phone is in your pocket and apps are launched so I'd recommend you to atleast turn on swipe for unlock to avoid accidental unlocks.

I can confirm that's not the case, I just have to put the phone in a vertical position and the screen will turn on, with no input on the power button. For example when I'm cleaning the screen with windex it's almost impossible, I keep turning the screen off and it keeps turning on immediately with the motion of the phone. If there's any motion on the phone, the screen will almost 100% of the times turn itself on.

Well the feature is intended to quickly check the time and some other notification from apps but features can sometimes be annoying than useful! I personally turned it off to save battery.
