My mate 9 has become a hard brick and I want to help for recovery. - Huawei Mate 9 Guides, News, & Discussion

My mate 9 has become a hard brick and I want to help for recovery.
I am Japanese and I am not good at English.
I apologize for being a difficult to read sentence
I purchased MATE 9(MHA-AL00 6GB/128GB).
However, the firmware was MHA-L29C636B183 from the beginning.
I tried updating to Android 8 but I failed.
Currently, it is in the following state.
1. When turn on the power,Huawei logo is not displayed
2. The screen is black and does not react even if the power button is pressed for a long time.
3. use Vol-Up + Power , Vol-Down + Power,3 Button does not respond.
4. However, when I run fastboot devices, The following is returned.
=====
C:\>fastboot devices
N8K021xxxxxxxxxx fastboot
=====
5. fastboot reboot-bootloader respond. but there is no change in the display.
=====
C:\>fastboot reboot-bootloader
rebooting into bootloader...
OKAY [ 0.023s]
finished. total time: 0.025s
=====
When Oreo update failed and turned on,
"ERROR 10 Boot.img" displayed on the screen where the droid doll is displayed,
and it can not start up.
I tried to recover with the following procedure No.1-4, but it got even worse.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-rebrand-chinese-al00-mate9-to-t3554656
Currently, fastboot may be usable. I installed TWRP but I can not use it.
eRecovery also does not work.
I am thinking that I can recover using FASTBOOT FLASH XXXX.IMG.
But I do not know which partition and how to update.
Please tell me about how to recover and related sites.
Thank you

have you tried turning it off and on?

Thank you for your reply.
I turned off the power, but it looks like the power is turned on automatically.
There is no screen display, but confirmed with fastboot devices.
I can not enter eRecovery screen.

Thank you for showing me three ways. Since I am going to work from now I will try after going home.
After that, as a result of investigation, I found out that the FRP is locked.
C:\>fastboot oem lock-state info
(bootloader) FB LockState: LOCKED
(bootloader) USER LockState: UNLOCKED
OKAY [ 0.008s]
finished. total time: 0.012s
I am looking for a way to unlock this using FASTBOOT.
If I erase a partition somewhere, will it be unlockd ?

when you rebrand and install ROM with dload and then sign in to Google account the FRP Locked will be dissappear
this following method be the same that you use it before
now try this
1- Unlock bootloader
2- install twrp,
3-do oeminfo backup in twrp, you should have a folder name twrp, inside this folder there is many subfolders.
In last folder there is 2-3 files, those files should be replaced with Oeminfo Al00 : https://www.mediafire.com/download/37n3jqv23j6erq5
Once replaced, put this folder on ur sd card and boot to twrp recovery than restore it.
4- download C00 offline firmware from third post here https://forum.xda-developers.com/ma...o-bootloop-t3534594/post70937310#post70937310 , Download B115 then extract the rar and copy dload folder to external sd card, turn off ur phone than press 3 buttons combination, power volume up and down till the update start.
5- when finished unlock bootloader again
6-install twrp again
7- flash hw_data for C00 in twrp http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/.../v65567/f2/full/all/cn/update_full_all_cn.zip it will give an error, don't worry.
8-flash c00 offline firmware again to have locked bootloader and get rid of the warning message lol
9 factory rest from settings.
10-use system update to get the latest firmware, sometimes you need sim card inserted, and using the download latest package option.
11 done.

Currently, only FASTBOOT can be used,
FRP is preventing the overwriting of the partition,
so I can not try the suggested method.
I studied variously, but I can not find a good solution.
I am planning to use DC-Phoenix (paid service) in a few days.
It seems to be able to update ROM from FASTBOOT even when FRP is locked.

I tried DC-Phoenix, but as a result it failed. The FAST BOOT which I was able to use until now can not be used and the power can not be turned on.
I am disappointed that the method of recovery is gone.
Thank you for your support.

Well, with fastboot, adb, bootloader mode, and eRecovery gone there is not really a lot you can do short of returning the device to Huawei (hopefully you still have warranty) for a replacement. Just tell them your phone died.

Blasted kingroot - bricked my phone?

Ahh, hind sight is a wonderful thing.
After trying to use kingroot to get root access, it failed. And a few days later after rebooting.
I'm now stuck at bootup with Start Up Failed.
hab check failed for boot
Failed to verify hab image boot
failed to validate boot image
I've now tried lot's of different things, over the last few hours.
RSDLite (show device brings no thing up)
Unlock bootloader (request key, but error regarding OEM unlock not being set - no access to now set it LOL)
Downloaded stock X_Play_UK_Retail_XT1562_LPD23.118-10_CFC.xml.zip, and tried using various guides on fastboot but keep getting remote failed.
I'm on stock recovery (obviously still locked).
Any thoughts, or hope from anyone?
Obviously, not sure what support Motorola would provide for what is essentially my own fault?
Have you tried manually flashing each bit of the stock firmware/image. That might help. There's a good guide here which I followed to unbrick my device. Just follow the instructions http://theunlockr.com/2015/09/22/how-to-unroot-the-motorola-moto-x-play/
Or try this one.

I think you need to unlock the bootloader and then start with the 'fastboot oem lock begin' command. You can't flash a system image with a locked bootloader. Let me know how it goes!

I run the unlock command, with my unique key but I get ..
...
(bootloader) Check 'Allow OEM Unlock' in Developer Options.

And since I can't get into the phone, I can't therefore check the "allow OEM unclock"
Have you tried any erase data commands or reset commands? Perhaps you could reset the phone so kingroot is un-installed and then try to turn on the phone. Short of that I'm stuck for ideas really, accept booting into 'fastboot and then erasing all data and factory reset in there. Let me know.

I tried the wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition from the stock recovery.
And if I try from fastboot:-
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot erase userdata

erasing 'userdata'...
OKAY [ 0.196s]

Back to the now standard "start up failed"

Have downloaded, and tried that - but the crux appears to be the fact that my bootloader is locked and I can't access the OEM checkbox. And therefore the tool itself can't unlock or equally install TWRP.
Unless I'm missing something in it's usage.

That really does sound like you bricked the device. If you where on lollipop software you wouldn't have the issue with check bootloader OEM unlock. If it was me I would either contact Motorola or go to a repair shop and have a motd experienced person take a look at it.
Try this, not necessary for unlock bootloader

YES you can flash stock Moto roms meant for your model and carrier only.
Also, Never attempt to downgrade.

I edit and made one firmware autoflasher for my x play Indian version and flashed successfully . everybody should check sparsechunk files no in flash file of your extracted stock firmware and edit my autoflasher files according to number of sparsechunk files and flash your firmware. It is definitely safe and I flashed my firmware by this but use at your own risk .

First you have to download your phone's correct firmware and extract in fastboot folder , and add my autoflasher and check your sparsechunk files number and make changes according to that in autoflasher then save ..Enter your phone in fastboot mode or in bootloader and not in stock recovery and run autoflasher.

I've ben used the latest rom so far why trying to flash (and failing) when I look at recovery I have a LPD23.118-10 number that matches to an earlier 5.1.1 rom (I had been upgraded to 6.0.1 via OTA updates) - do I therefore take that LPD ID to mean that I should actually use the 5.1.1 rom - I'm in the UK, so I'm assuming I'd use the UK one rather than Europe (I'm looking at roms on https://github.com/motoxplay/stock).
Thanks
Dooh!!
Looking back at what I was doing yesterday, within the mix of downloading various roms - appears that I was actually using the LPD23.118-10 and NOT the latest.
I figured, I'd give it one last whirl using the latest not expecting much - and hey presto, it's worked. Just in the process of resetting it all up again.
Thanks for everyone who contributed, and a lesson learnt about always rechecking what you attempt (and not to try to root if you're not 100% sure of what I'm doing)

P9 Lite cannot flash stock firmware

I have a Huawei P9 lite. (VNS-L31 dual sim) . I tried to install medrom 3 and after flashing, phone didn't boot up. So I flashed b161 firmware again using 3 button method and phone booted up. Then I realized I couldn't add my google account. After searching on xda I found a method to fix that.(flashing oem info ). But after doing that, when the phone boots up after the huawei logo the error message which says "your device has been unlocked" has become red.( Usually it's yellow). And in about phone my model number has been changed to something like hi6250 or hi650.( Can't remember the exact thing). Then I tried to reflash my b161 firmware using 3 button menu and voila. It says incompatible version. I can't flash it. Then I replaced my build prop with my friend's phone's build prop. But unfortunately it has the B151 version. Though I have B161 version installed, my about phone says it has B151 version. And I can't flash stock firmware using twrp or dload method od any how. Please help

That's normal if the message is red, it means that the bootloader Will be relocked.
Now for the build prop, download b161 version, use huawei firmware extractor , extract boot.img system.img and cust.img
And by fastboot type :
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
fastboot reboot
And voila, b161 is installed in your phone !
Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L31 using XDA Labs

Unable to read/mount data says your encryption key got changed by something, whatever. You need to Wipe Internal storage and flash twrp again ( I recomment matic`s ) Reboot to recovery again, if you got one, flash a flashable fw via twrp. I Dont know if the stock recovery Accepts a fully wiped intern storage, i guess not and it declines the update.app method.
In the best case for sure you recover an older backup to get the Same enc. Key back

TWRP on Nougat

I saw where someone said you could flash B20 bootloader and flash TWRP on Nougat, is this true? Is anyone working on a guide for Nougat TWRP and root. On another note I thought that I read that ZTE would be bringing Wifi calling for Nougat with carries such as T-Mobile? I was unable.to find it under options and assume that it is not possible, anyone have any idea about this.
Thanks
I have an unlocked BL and recently upgraded to Nougat, but when I try to reinstall TWRP via fastboot flash method, it fails. I have tried two different versions of TWRP 3.0.3-1 & 3.0.4-1. This is the message I get.
PS C:\adb> fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.4-1-a7.img

sending 'recovery' (14472 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.332s]

I got TWRP 3.0.4 installed (as well as 3.0.3-1)... It installed sucessfully via Fastboot for me, I even flashed SU, but I couldn't get my phone to boot into the OS (tried with and without SU).......It just hung at the boot pre-boot screen (where it warns you the bootloader is unlocked). I'd restart it, and it always hangs at that screen..... Only way to fix it was to boot back into TWRP, revert back to B29 (using DrakenFX guide) and then update to Nougat again. I spent about 16 hours straight working on this on Tuesday, before I gave up and decided to keep it stock until a custom ROM comes out, soon (Z.A.D. v.4), hopefully?
I have an issue where I installed B15 but whenever I boot my phone, it hangs on the Linux Tux logo. Any fix?

You probably pushed the power button to "Start"? Try letting it sit there about 10-15 seconds, if it won't boot...This is the exact same problem I had. I had to go back to B29, then do the update again. There is now a B15 "return to stock" walk-through, that may be the quicker route.....But I know returning to B29, turning on OEM Unlock in Dev options and then taking the update via your SD card was what I did (3 times in one day).

Those steps are meant to unlock the bootloader.
You don't need any of it. You already have TWRP (skip step 1) and bootloader unlocked (skip step 2) so yeah...
What do you want exactly?

My bootloader is unlocked (back when ZTE actually provided the unlocking)....adb fastboot works on my phone as well and I've flashed TWRP (3.0.4 and 3.0.3-1) and it's booted into TWRP, but I cannot boot into the actual OS...My phone goes all black and just hangs there, I think this may be booting directly into EDL mode and not the OS? I can plug my phone into the computer and my computer makes noises as if a USB device has been attached, but my screen is completely black. If I push the start button while the phone is booting (to bypass the bootloader is unlocked warning screen), I boot to a small penguin screen.
The only thing I can do from there is revert back to stock B29, then update back to stock B15.
I want to be able to install TWRP, root my phone, on Nougat, and be able to use my phone too?

The MiFlash program found my phone, but failed every time I ran it.. So, I just bit the bullet and downloaded the latest TWRP 3.0.4-1 and flashed that.....And it worked! I then flashed SU, my fonts and changed my Emoji's....I'm about there with customization, and it's all booting up just fine!
But, yes the first few times I did allow system modifications......But I also did this last time too and it's working fine?

p9 lite borked upgrade to emui 5

Hi, I'm seeking help in retruning my p9 lite back to stock rom - I'll try to account for all the steps i've done so far:
P9 lite dual sim but the operator limited it to only using 1 sim, so I used the VNS-L21-L22-L31 Toolkit to fix the problem
Everything went fine until I used the huawei app to upgrade to emui5; After reboot the phone was on build NRD90M test-keys without bluetooth and without any keyboard, only google voice for input.
eRecovery does not work - goes to 5% and gives a error;
I followed the guides to install trwp in an attempt to flash a stock ROM,
issued the following commands:
fastboot oem unlock [the code]
fastboot flash recovery recovery_twrp.img
fastboot reboot
all commands returned without error, but still cant boot into trwp using volume up & power.
Up on reboot, it shows the message saying that my device was unlocked and can't be trusted bla, bla bla and booting now and that's it.
I've tried putting the update.app in the sd card's dload folder but nothing.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Had the same problem, try installing different versions of twrp,Meticulus one is the only one that worked for me ,so try it
I've tried from both...
the last try was done from adb. Here's the log:
> adb reboot bootloader
>fastboot devices
4TE7N1711000XXXX fastboot
>fastboot flash recovery recovery_twrp.img
target reported max download size of 471859200 bytes
sending 'recovery' (28928 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.780s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.640s]
finished. total time: 1.420s
>fastboot reboot
rebooting...
finished. total time: 0.031s
>adb reboot recovery
Then the phone reboots, shows the "You'r device was unlocked and can't be trusted" message and after that "Your device is booting now..." and stays there...
I'm going nuts with this...

Help please, endless bootloop

I have tried downgraded my phone from nougat, but has ended in at bootloop only showing the red Huawei Logo.
Now i can´t enter recovery, can´t update using 3 button method only thing i can access is fastboot.
My problem is my bootloader is locked and therefore i can´t flash an recovery. And now i cannot figure out how to obtain my product key, so i can unlock the bootloader.
Any1 who can help me with this would be much appreciate.
What did you do exactly to end with endless bootloop?
I used the rollback file from this Thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/hu...torial-rollback-n-to-mm-c432-devices-t3563955
Update went fine but afterwards it ended in a bootloop. The only thing i can access is fastboot.
The weird thing is that in fastboot it says my bootlader is unlocked with red, but i cant install an recovery. Its says acess denied and ask if i'm sure my bootloader is unlocked.
And thats why im back to trying to unlock the bootloader but i cant get the product id for my phone when i can't turn in on.. seems hopeless
I suppose that you did 3 button update metod. You have to factory reset phone. Press volume up and power button together and keep pressed until you see erecovery option for factory reset phone. Do it.

With huawei extractor extract (from B160 or what ever firmware is your phone) system, boot, and recovery img and flash with adb. Than you have to do reset.

Thanks for the suggestion.
When i try flashing it with adb it starts writing but then says "Failed (remote: Command not allowed)
Should have installed the proper drivers but still not working.
Same thing if try flashing with the L31 toolkit. Here it says "Something went wrong! - Maybe your boot-loader is locked?"
The only thing i can think of, is trying to unlock my bootloader again and see if its work. Even though it says unlocked in fastboot mode. But for that i still need the product id for my phone which i can´t get???
