Same here.
Quite surprised.
Smoother and a great update it seems like.
I have to send mine in due to static from the speakers though. I almost don't dare, in case I get a replacement

Wow finally we got it!

Did you manage to get the speaker static fixed? I've sent mine back three times now and they keep saying its fine - but the sound is completely unusable at the lowest volumes with the static/distortion.

Why is it Lenovo have stopped sending out the 7.1.1 update? I have it but my partner doesn't. When asking Lenovo they said they have never rolled out the update. Mmm someone's lying!

Nope. I'm on my second try, so far.

Any news about what happened with this update?

Lenovo lies to avoid to have to fix the update...
The news are that have some bugs and Lenovo have no plan to fix it, so that's why they have retired the update from their servers... You can download the update zip from internet and flash it manually (that's what I did), but have some things that fails like for example screen casting.
I don't use screen casting and I've not found other bugs for now, but maybe have more...

*WARNING* RE-enable OEM Bootloader Unlocking after Update!!!
Just a heads up and REMINDER to go into Developer Options and turn OEM Unlocking back on after the OTA update because it had turned mine back off after sideloading.
I wish I had my laptop set up so I could remote in from work right now and begin downloading the image.
I take it Root is still working?

I've been thinking off using one of my phones as a hotspot for my laptop...Just not thinking it will be quite fast enough and stable enough to download and get a good MD5. My company watches everything.

Why not just get it over with and UNLOCK it? Once you are unlocked, the state of that checkbox is irrelevant.

If you don't unlock, and leave your bootloader unlocked it can. If you have the check box checked then the bootloader remains locked. So if you get caught with a bad flash or anything else that causes a bootloop there is no way to gain access to the bootloader and run fastboot.
Not off to a great start. I've had my 3rd crash triggered simply by browsing to the reddit nexus 9 board. Now it appears to be on a forced cache erase after the consecutive crashes.
From this we can safely say nobody in Google pays any attention the forum moaning otherwise they might have noticed this issue.
Anyone get an OTA for the LTE version yet? They haven't posted the factory images which scares me a little that LTE might get left behind. The 5.0.2 links went up for both at the same time.

Mine's still running really warm and it's losing power over USB just by being on. I'm watching the battery drain simply from the screen idling on Google Now. Come the **** on Google, heat and battery drain should have been primary concerns.
Edit: Fortunately though, it seems like the entire device is running buttery smooth, which is literally a first on stock Android for me. Even my Nexus 6 hiccups without a custom ROM and that has the S805 and 1 more GB of memory.
Still no OTA for LTE on 5.01 -> 5.02 ...
What the hell is Google doing... firstly releasing almost beta Lollipop that on our Nexus have serious issues.. after waiting and being the last device to be updated still no upgrade to LTE which is more expensive and deserves at least same support.
If our model is left behind, I will surely not buy a Nexus device ever again.

LTE takes time. I wouldn't worry about it. I bet factory images are up within a day or two. I'm an LTE owner too, so I'm in the same boat. I'm just happy it actually started rolling out, as it started to look like it wasn't happening. This is a much bigger update than 5.0.1 -> 5.0.2
Updated this morning. So far so good
So far, it's definitely an improvement on performance but it remains to be seen with this is another cache-wipe factor or something. One of the first-impression fixes is that the light sensor seems to actually work now, while it was almost useless before.
I noticed the stock kernel is now on 2,5GHz high and that both cores are allways on, which i am not sure if it was happening on 5.0.x. I remember Franco noticing it on Nexus 6 5.1 too, so i guess it's a common practice by google to not turn cores off anymore.
Well so far so good. I never had major issues before. OTA side loaded fine. Did a factory reset to set up fresh. Now that everything is set up I'm just waiting for it to charge completely. It did get warm installing and updating everything, but no issues so far. Everything went smoothly.
There's a new apk named 'Who Am I?' That is disabled by default in this update. Turns out it's a widget that literally shows you the time and what your name is. Maybe it's for people with dementia or short term memory.
The way things have been going, most of us might have needed that widget by the time this update got to us if we'd waited much longer.

What's up with OTA ?

I have received my zuk z1 international version a few days ago and so far loving it. The best part of the phone is indeed the cyanogen OS. However, I seem to be getting tons of OTA updates, almost everyday if not multiple times a day. Of course I'm not complaining as I like to see the OS getting fixes and features, but what bothers me is I can't see what a particular update is bringing. Can somebody please redirect me to some change log page for cyanogen where I could see what are these updates that my zuk is getting? Here is that latest one I'll install once I'm done with this post
Thanks!

Just got my phone a few days ago as well, also loving it, and have noticed the OTA updates. Saw this same update today and just installed.
Effect on current issues I'm experiencing:
Double-tap to wake not functioning: No change
Lack of U-Touch functionality: No change
Volume decreases when screen goes off: No change
Update! Double tap to wake and volume issues do seem to have resolved. Perhaps it took a reset or two. I'm a happy camper!
Hmm, I had a few OTA updates in the first day or so, but nothing since then until today. It seems odd you are getting loads.
I too would like to see some sort of release note changes log.
I had a bunch of updates when I first got the phone a couple of weeks ago. I have just got one of 47mb today. I have no idea what the update is for though ?

lol... from your signature: "Its not the device....its operator error."
But seriously... A lot of people have this phone and aren't having the issues you are describing. I have the S7. It works perfectly (except the whole no root deal). But my girlfriend on the other hand also comes to me with these random issues.
Says the screen won't turn on, and the camera keeps crashing. Ok, so I look at it. The (cheap) case that she bought from Amazon is holding down the power button so when she presses it, of course nothing happens. And when the screen doesn't turn on via the power button she spams the home key, which is configured to launch the camera after a double tap. Hence, the camera keeps doing funny things. So yeah... operator error. But she's a smart girl. I told her about those things and now everything is fine. She got a new case and we turned off the double-tap home key camera shortcut. Problems solved.
Just gotta find the source of the issues man. These phones are legit. Good luck
Good for you, bye.

disable update nag
Is there a way to disable the update nag prompt? I am not going to update my phone, in the hopes that someday we will see a root option. I can swipe to remove the prompt, but it remains perpetually in my notifications. Is there a way to remove this?

Nothing for a specific notification. You could try long pressing on the notification and seeing if it lets you disable notifications for the whole app but chances are it would be something like SystemUI or other system app so even if it did let you disable all notifications for the app, you may miss others like the USB connection choice for example.
Disable ota
Package disabler pro.. It's a paid app but it's cheap enough and it certainly does the job.. you can disable system update plus partially debloat your phone if careful not to disable the wrong process.. it tells you what you can or cannot disable.. it won't free up space but it will stop the update notifications.. it's envitable that you'll accidently update sooner or later if you don't disable the nag notification..
A lot of times it centers around installed apps as well. Sometimes, all it takes is one to cause issue with the rest of the phone. Did you check on any "same" apps you installed? I've had this thing for a year now, some issues now and then, but was primarily due to apps..uninstalling, updating or finding a supported app was often the solution.
My wife has has an S7 also (a year into Verizon's Samsung devices as well), the only time there's issue is when she doesn't update the apps she has installed. A few of the same apps on different phones, but no problems.
As far as SDCARD issues, what type of card/brand? I had issue with SanDisk cards in my previous samsung phones, so I switched to only using samsung cards...no problems whatsoever since I've changed card brands.

What? This phone was only released a little over 3 months ago.
sorry, meant with Verizon's Samsung over the last year. GS7 since it's been out. Still no notable issues either way...at least nothing worth crying about.
We were with Sprint before for over a decade. Had Samsung devices since the GS"II" (yeah, that's #2), not many issues over the years at all.

Software update TMobile

Just got this update.
Don't know if I should install it though.
Installed it knowing the risk of losing bixby remapping, and sure enough it does prevent the ability to remap bixby. Oh well, fun while it lasted. I'd still update though, you aren't going to go the whole life of your phone without updating unless you want dropped support and vulnerability security-wise.
Did your baseband or android version get updated?
That's why u haven't updated was because Bixby. I still have the okay Google option so I'll update soon.

It's not 7.1, there wasn't any indication anything was getting updated to 7.1 outside of Pixel users, so I wouldn't expect that until we get an official announcement (unless you're in the Galaxy Beta program). And the patch level is April 1

Sent from my wickedly awesome Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 using my S-Pen. Duh!!!

Bixby remapping > update
Anyone notice the face unlock acting buggy and slower/won't recognize after this update? Super blown about this since the fingerprint scanner placement sucks horribly in the first place
So for now, should we be holding off on this update since it updates the baseband?
Also since I dont have my disabler yet for software updates... How would one manually remove the download? Also anyone know if the S8 plans to auto update if you hit "Later"?

I just updated my S8 and noticed exactly the same problem you described. It did not recognize my face to unlock the phone as well as it did before the update! I kept retrying and then moved into a brighter light and finally it recognized my face and unlocked the phone. Phoohey! Buy now recommended?

I bought essential phone couple of months ago and was thoroughly disappointed because of several reasons, battery drain, call quality issues and very bland software too bare for my liking also it was well overpriced.
Now that price has dropped and have an opportunity for buying for far less. However I would like to ask current buyers if the same issues I mentioned above are still prevalent? Would you recommend buying this over other similar priced phones around £420
Thanks for your help

I bought mine during the black friday promotion (phone + free camera) for $157 including paid off lease and purchase option from Sprint. I also got a free 360 camera delivered last week. I sideloaded the Oreo beta 2 firmware from Essential website and I can tell you that it is much...much better than before. Try it yourself and find out!
If you're complaining about bland software then you should probably skip it.
It is still essentially stock Android.
(Which is why I bought it)
But everything else is working great for me. Cell reception is equal to my Op5, haven't had any complaints about call quality and battery life is incredible
This battery life is best of any Android I've had

I've never encountered those problems, but I believe the Oreo beta fixed those that were Nougat problems. Also on T-Mobile, and it's signal is easily as good if not better than my Oneplus One.

The signal seemed just lower than few of my phone that I compared it with. In a good area there are no issues, in an area with not ideal reception, Essential gets even lower signal. I am thinking about Oreo Beta, but if Essential releases it within a week, then there is no point in getting the beta.
I am VERY happy with my phone.
Call quality has been pretty good on Oreo beta 2. Haven't had any dropped calls or other issues. Battery has improved on Oreo. I can easily go all day and get 5-6 hrs SoT. The software is pretty much the same stock Android experience. It's not for everyone but I usually go for phones with stock or near stock Android (Moto X Pure, Nexus 6, 5x, 6P, OP3T). I've really enjoyed the PH-1 but it still might not be the right phone for you.

Most of us who chose this phone did so for the stock experience. (bland software) as you put it.
Being thoroughly disappointed and getting it again is like remarrying your ex lol.
I do not have any issues with call quality or battery drain and I paid about 150US. for a new sprint unlocked version.
Knowing this, paying 420 might still make it seem too expensive for you in the end.
Ebay and swappa here in the US are selling these things cheap not sure about the UK though.
With all the sprint phones out there the value on resale will be minimal.

I was just experiencing issues where I could not swipe my brightness slider and then trying to touch on the side of it would activate one if my quick settings, also my phone's visual voicemail wasn't working but everything was back to normal and haven't had any problems since I factory reset the phone

I just sideloaded Oreo 2 beta and when it finished, the phone booted properly. I started to play with it, but after about 10 min, phone rebooted and was in that reboot state(spinning dots) for about 5 min, then booted properly. There is no indication what has caused that, but for now the phone seems normal. I have Pebble app running and notification shade shows "Pebble is running in the background" and I am trying to remove that notification, but haven't found a way to do that just yet.
