Verizon HTC 10 to US Unlocked -- Keep Radio / Stay on Verizon? - Verizon HTC 10 Questions & Answers

I'm on Verizon and have a Verizon HTC 10. I'm interested in changing to US Unlocked firmware. I know it is possible to change the CID and flash the RUU, but will my radio be messed up? Is it possible to use fastboot to flash a Verizon radio during/after the process?
Thanks,
diznanl

Brilliant ... yes, I found the link shortly after I made the post. I was rooting around too much in normal HTC 10 forum, not enough in the Verizon HTC forum.

Oops. Dead Wizard - Possible to Fix?

Hi
Anybody know how to fix a dead wizard? It does nothing at all. No LED no Bootloader Nothing
bye
can u tell me how exactly u messed it up?
Sorry to hear that
We need to know how it died?
This thread is prob the most helpful http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=51101
I made my own nk.nbf with the o2 CID (my wizard is an o2 XDA Mini S). I think the extended ROM and SPL would not update because either they were in wrong order or wrong memory adress. So my IPL became 2.4 and my SPL stayed 2.21 - after reset the device never turned on again.
I would try summiter's advice first in the above thread in case it's a battery/power problem.
Then if no joy - go along with fluffcat's advise, maybe good idea to post in wizard upgrading forum where summiter etc... could help you.
A warning to us all - don't mess with the rom too much!
o2 are coming round to give me a new one and take the old one away!! lol, for free

I think I rooted, how can I tell?

I followed 42turkeys' excellent How To Root and everything seemed to work as it should. I then used the ROM and root updates from andrewb84uk and they went on OK with no apparent problems. Andrewb84uk has since seemed to lose faith in his own ROMs, although other users, like me, are happy with what he's done. My phone seemed to be working fine, I can boot into recovery mode, and I really like some of the new features on 2.1.
So, my question is this; how can I tell that the root worked OK? I never really investigated the OS too much when it was running 1.5, so I'm not sure I'd spot too many of the subtle differences. Also, it is an updated OS, so any change I see may simply be an update rather than the result of root.
Does simply the fact that I can boot in recovery mode confirm that root is successful?
Go to the android market and type in Screenshot in search...
Download the app and see if it works...
If it does your rooted!
It it doesn't your not rooted!
See below...
It works! Many thanks...

Instead of using OTA, you can manually flash your phone to 4.4.2 using the stock Google rom.

You'll need to unlock the phone's bootloader and reboot before continuing.

Can you restore the LS997 to full stock?

I know some of the other models of the phone have software where you can restore to complete stock as listed here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/restore-v20-to-100-stock-bricked-devices-t3524903
So I was wondering if there is anything like this for the Sprint version. I was thinking of trying to restore it with the US996 firmware and hopefully that would work. Considering its the unlocked version. Thanks in advance.
no.. our KDZ never went public and isn't available.
once rooted and unlocked, its forever
i kinda want you to try hitting it with a us996 kdz, but your probably gonna either brick it/wont work.
I mean its worth a shot, just know its probably not a good idea lol

You would need to relock the bootloader to get that to go back to official. I don't believe there is a way to do so currently.
Having an unlocked bootloader won't cause audio issues, just an FYI

So as I understood,I need to flash it again and relock bootloader again?
That would get you back to full stock. However, like I said before, I don't think there is a signed bootloader image anywhere, so I don't think you can fully lock that back up yet.

Thank you I will try this
I was able to relock bootloader using this guide:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72789290&postcount=16
Not sure if it will work for all model variants but it did for mine...
