Seems like lollipop based miui use a better driver, more compatible with 3rd party screen, anyway to extract those drives and put them in kk based roms ?

Only thing you will get is bootloop. In LP firmware u get volte and partitions changes and modem is upgraded. That's it.

I have the same device model 2014818 1gb ram phone
I'm using Miui Kikat which is best and stable now.
Once u flash lollipop fimware (miui lp rom of redmi 2 prime)
It will take 10 to 15 min to boot up, the only options u will get is VOLTE.
And u will get volte working in custom roms to.
But performance wise in miui lollipop , it will be very slow and 1GB Ram isn't gonna keep too much memory free (multitasking forget it). But custom roms will work ok like normal , volte enabled.
Both redmi 2 and 2 prime are all same hardware , just the difference is that it has 2 variant (1gb 2gb ram )
Internal 8gb , 16gb.

Any Custom ROM Supporting VoLTE ?

Hello All,
This query is regarding Redmi 2 Custom Rom. Is there any Custom ROM which supports VoLTE?
In India, Reliance Jio is launching 4G which will require VoLTE and hence this query. I have read that MIUI based on Lollipop base does support VoLTE but have not seen that option in Custom ROMs. Thanks in advance for help & comments
Edit
Basis feedback from users, to get VoLTE working following is solution:
1) One needs to first flash MIUI LP ROM (to get LP bootloader)
2) Second follow this by flashing ROMs like Orion, Mokee etc which supports VoLTE over LP bootloader
Read next post for details
Enable VoLTE in Redmi 2
The solution to get VoLTE working is following :
1) First, one needs to flash MIUI LP ROM (to get LP bootloader)
2) Second, flash ROMs like Orion, Mokee, RR, Project X, CM 13 etc which supports VoLTE over LP bootloader
3) Insert sim (example Jio for Indian users) and reboot. If required might have to create APN "ims"
4) In case APN "ims" doesn't work very well, pls follow this post here to replace apns config file.
That's it.. this will work.

CM13 base Custom Roms does not support VoLTE
Im currently on Mokee with Jio sim & volte call does work. :good: I think cm13 too would work, Tesla didn't. Remember to be in lollipop firmware with volte support before flashing custom rom .

I am having a question.. When I'm using any custom rom and using my Jio 4G sim in any of the custom rom the performance isn't that great. For eg. If I'm getting 34mbps speed in MIUI then in any custom ROM i will be getting 0.5-1.0 Mbps speed. Can anyone tell me why is this happening and any workaround for it?

I tried d same..but calls nt wrkng..help bro
why install custom.. just install miui lollipop of redmi 2 prime and use VoLTE. it works
So in order to get VoLTE support on CM13, do you have to have Lollipop Bootloader and Modem flashed?
What about MM custom ROMs? Can anyone tell me for a fact if any ROM supports VoLTE. Also, can anyone confirm if this guide works for custom ROMs?
Can I Install the redmi 2 prime lollipop rom on redmi 2 1gb ram version are you sure it works, if not then what rom supports VoLte on 1gb redmi 2.
For me volte working perfectly

I read this somewhere in CM13 thread. Try these APN settings it should work
For volte go to network setting then select apn.
Add new apn with below details for volte
Name - jio
APN - ims
APN Type - ims
Rest of things you can keep as it is.
Also for 4g internet
Name - jio4g
APN - jionet

Redmi 2 Prime Global Developer ROM on HM2014811

Im the happy owner of a Redmi 2 - HM2014811, 16 GB, 2 GB RAM. The 4G band my network operator runs is the rather exotic - I'm in EU - TDD 38(2600) and this phone has it.
Im running as we speak the Redmi 2 4G Global Stable ROM - Version: V8.0.1.0.KHJMIDG (MIUI8), KitKat based.
Question1: Is it possible to flash Redmi 2 Prime Global Developer ROM, Lollipop based?... I'm asking this because i want to preserve the native LTE bands of the phone, not losing the TDD38(2600). As seen on gsmarena, the Prime version is dedicated to the indian market - and the LTE bands are quite different.
Question 2: If yes, should is use recovery or fastboot method, as the actual ROM is KitKat based and the Developer ROM I want to flash is Lollipop based?
Question 3: Will I feel a lack in performance, considering the phone has 2 GB RAM?
I asked the same questions on the miui forum, but I hardly got an answer related to the first question.
1. Yes , .. Go ahead and install the Prime's Developer ROM .. im saying this as one of my friend with 20140811 (TDD) , is using it ,I don't exactly know how it works but it should be able to use , this might sound not Convincing but You can Always revert Back ..
2. You can Use Recovery or Fastboot , both would Work .. but if you're using Custom Recovery such as TWRP , make sure its Compatible with Lollipop Bootloader , like TWRP 2.8.6.1 doesn't have Support whereas TWRP 3.0 or later have ..
To avoid as Mishappenings , Try not to use Mi Recovery as In most cases We are now getting the Error 7 in TWRP and Not able to flash in MI Recovery .. the Error 7 is due to , if you know , the Updater Script and Can be solved by Editing it .
3. It's more than Sufficient .. the 2gb of ram , you'll not feel any lack in performance
Hope this helped

MIUI not upgrading to lollipop

I was running Mokee based on MM on the Kitkat bootloader. I wanted to revert to Miui so i flashed the lollipop MIUI Rom via the bootloader. It flashed without any errors and when I opened my phone, i went to settings just to check the lollipop easter egg. When I opened about phone, instead of lollipop, it showed that it was on Kitkat. I, at first, thought that maybe I flashed the wrong ROM and I checked every forum in the books and every forum proved that the ROM version I had was based on Lollipop. I used the Kitkat ROM that I had flashed and I got the MIUI 8 OTA upgrade. I downloaded it in the hopes that maybe that might upgrade it to Lollipop. However, it didnt. I then flashed the Kitkat MIUI ROM and did an OTA update to MIUI 8 and it is still on Kitkat. I gave up and I flashed AICP based on Nougat. Now the thing is, VoLTE works on AICP and VoLTE is not a feature of the KITKAT MIUI ROM. In fact, I checked whether VoLTE was there on MIUI 8 that I had and I couldn't find the VoLTE option. I took a nandroid backup via TWRP of the MIUI 8 ROM and a lot of features weren't there that should be there in the ROM.
Just to be clear, my bootloader is not locked.
My question is, how do i get the lollipop MIUI ROM ? Where am i going wrong?
Simple.....go to xiaomi.eu site.Download miui 8 ROM for your device .Flash it by the t.w.r.p provided at that site only and don't wipe system before flashing.
You must have to flash miui ROM by fastboot....that is not true.

does that mean i have to reflash twrp and then flash the miui ROM?
Also, are these ROM's official ROMs? As in, do they come with OTA updates and are they the same(feature wise) as the MIUI ROM available on the official MI forums?
One more thing, does this version of twrp support other roms as well? As in, if I want to flash a custom ROM in the future, will it support those ROMs?

1)Yes u have to reflash t.w.r.p ( found in xiaomi.eu site) for miui ROM .
2)Those are not official. But OTA is there(weekly and monthly)Go to the site and read about more OTA facts.
3)You can flash other miui ROM(from miui official site) and other custom ROM by that tw.r.p.But in the case of custom ROM(like lineage) u may face isuues. So flashing custom ROM by t.w.r.p(found in XDA by kumajay sir) is best.
But reflashing Different t.w.r.p is not so irritating bcz there is option of flashing image file in both t.w.r.p.

In your third point, you mentioned that I can flash the official MIUI from the official MIUI forums. So, if I just download the recovery MIUI 8 ROM from the official forums of MI, it'll work?
My question is, if I need to flash a fastboot ROM after doing the above steps, will I face the same issue of me getting a Kitkat based ROM instead of a Lollipop based ROM? Also and this is something that I have always wanted to try but because of fear of my device getting bricked and I never tried, what happens if I flash the official MIUI recovery ROM from kumaya sir's twrp build? Will that do the trick? If it is, how do I do it?

Oops.... I have misinformed u a little accidentally.
What is your need ?
To be on lolypop firmware? Or trying miui ROM.
There are two types of miui ROM(I am only talking about recovery flash able) on miui official site. Global and developers.
U can't flash any global ROM by any custom recovery (like t.w.r.p) for sign. Issue. You have to flash it by stock recovery.
U can flash developers ROM by t.w.r.p(me) found on xiaomi.EU site or miui site.
Just take back up of your current ROM before doing anything.ANd u will be fine.
But I suggest you to try miui ROM by xiaomi.eu .Bc they're far better than official miui .
And also if u flash official miui rom and then u want flash custom ROM again .Then u have to root it and flash t.w.r.p again as it is not rooted and it come with stock recovery.
But miui ROM by xiaomi.eu is prerooted and come with t.w.r.p.
Is your Redmi 2 the 1GB version? If yes, stick in KK or upgrade to custom ROMs. I tried to use a LP MIUI and it wasn't a good experience. The low RAM + MIUI + Lollipop really brings performance lags. I was on Xiaomu.eu's MIUI 8.1 + Premaca Kernel MK for KitKat and now I'm at RR 5.8 + Premaca's Cosmos kernel. Both are good to RAM.

since you mentioned that the roms at xiaomi.eu are better, in what respects are they better? What are the major differences?
To answer your earlier question, I want the lollipop firmware, I flashed the MIUI 8 official ROM based on lollipop, but I got Kitkat instead of Lollipop. I flashed MIUI 7 based on Kitkat and MIUI 7.5 based on Lollipop, updated them via OTA to MIUI 8 and still,it was on Kitkat. I just want MIUI to be on lollipop so that i can flash other mods which I can't on a Kitkat based ROM. My bootloader came unlocked and it was unlocked when I did all this(i checked it just to be sure).

I have a Redmi 2 Prime(2GB + 16 GB). I flashed RR based on Nougat but I faced a lot of random reboots and since sound is a top priority for me, the sound output was bad, both via the headphone jack and the speaker. How is Premaca's Cosmos Kernel with RR? Can you give me an in-depth review on the following areas:- sound, performance, battery(with/without heavy usage) and any unique features that you find great(I'm aware of the customization options that come with RR,so in that area, i don't doubt it)?

Better for me ....As...No Chinese apps,Rooted,5-5.15 hrs sot on LTE.More free RAM(though doesn't matter). But RAM management is good and not sluggish on heavy usage. And of course Volte.
Look....if u want just to be on lolypop firmware....just flash it .You will not regreat. ...I am sure.
There are other options also to be on lolypop firmware:-
U can flash lolypop firmware from lineage OS.(try it first).
U can flash also miui Hellas by gkalen.

Sound: Great (louder than stock)
Performance: Very good
Beauty: OMG!
Stabilty: a issue here: The phone reboot or power off at night (I don't know exactly happens, I just see the phone off, with charging screen. So, I can't use it as alarm clock). I will try RR with only stock kernel (not cosmos) to see if it persists.
I like the ROM. It's surprisingly light. I'm using 2 Whatsapp (through Parallel Space), Facebook Lite, Spotify and I doesnt have the "kill spotify" issue. When I was at MIUI, opened Spotify, opened Swipe/Whatsapp, the Spotify simply was wiped from memory. Yes, I couldn't listen a music and take a look in facebook. In the RR 5.8 I can do this without issues.

I don't think redmi 2 prime variant will work on this device as this device has only 1 gb ram where as prime has 2gb ram
Correct me if I am wrong..
Im using the same device 2014818 1gb variant.
It is wt88047.
U can use custom roms on KitKat firmware without any problems.(no volte)
Dont flash miui Lp coz soon when u switch to kitkat again from lp miui u will face sim card switch issue due to changed baseband. And miui lp will be slow on 1gb ram variant. But in kitkat firmware , linagge os and other 6.0.1, 7.1.2 ROMs will work.

1.For MM Stable Nx Rom by Anderson is stable and Tesla Os MM Stable.
2.Bootloader ( Firmware) There Are 2 Firmwares Available One is of Kikat and lollipop (Lp Firmware for volte ) they both are 50 mb. They can be flashed in twrp.
If ur using 2gb prime phone then flash lp firmware. Get it from xda threads.
Then flash a custom rom or miui lp and get volte function.
3. Manually set to 4g network from dialing *#*#4636#*#*
Enter into phone information and select lte , it won't go back to 3g or 2g then.
If u want the firmware links PM me.
4. Once u flash lp firmware u won't be able to work on miui kitkat. So when u flash miui lollipop the phone performance will be so slow due to 1gb ram..it isnt enough for background apps to run. So if u want to revert and go back to miui KitKat just make a backup of miui kitkat (System, boot , firmware ,Efs <- (efs is important coz it contains imei number which gets sim working) before flashing lp firmware. So u can restore easily from twrp.

Yes all custom roms doesn't provide gapps...install arm pico gapps
Mokee rom i tried few months later, it had battery draining issue.
Root access is already available in developer options no need of supersu.
Im having the same device as u have. Don't flash custom kernels it has overclocked cpus nd gpu and doesn't provide good multitasking.

Proximeter only work in lollipop based miui

My 2014817's proximeter only work flawlessly when full flashing lollipop based miui, and the proximeter never works in any kk based miui, why is that ?
Why proximeter only works when at lollipop firmware ?
Thanks
Ummmm, only me who get this problem ?

There would be seperate link for miui Kk 2014811 , 2014818 (are common devices) and 2014813(has some different firmware modem in its board and some other company hardware)
If u want to get kitkat working try 2 roms of miui thunder. They have 2 builds for 2014811 , and 2014813 category.

Its not in the rom, its in the firmware, even xiaomi built in kk firmware factory test failed in proximity test, but the ll built in one is success in proximity test
If u have 2gb ram phone stick to lollipop with volte.
Kitkat is better for 1gb ram model. Coz i have 1gb ram model and it gets pretty slow after flashing miui lp
