[Q] XT1762 can not install xposed - Moto E4 Questions & Answers

Hello,
I am really confused about whatever Moto E4 supports Xposed Framework after all.
I have Mediatek variant. XT1762 (Dual Sim one).
I've successfully unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP recovery, along with dmverify and rooted the phone (by Magisk). I can edit system partition and the phone boots perfectly.
about systemless xposed:
when I try to install a Magisk module, whenever in recovery or application mode, I get /data/magisk_merge.img mount failed error. I uninstalled Magisk 14.0 complately and then tested with Magisk 14.3. But no luck. I gave up installing Magisk modules because I think the stock kernel have some problems with loop module (altought, I am not sure about that).
_______________
Then, I tried to flash them: API 25 / ARM
(offical one) https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
(unoffical, seems for Moto E4) https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e4/how-to/info-xposed-framework-nougat-t3687263
both give bootloop and USB debugging is getting turned off everytime I reboot the phone therefore I do not have any valueable / debug information. The only way me to get the phone booted again is to flash the uninstaller from the recovery!
_______________
How do you guys install this XPosed framework on this phone? I am so confused!

The only xposed that worked for me was the official but NOT SYSTEMLESS .zip . I flashed it via recovery . I was using magisk 14.3 . I got the same error in magisk with systemless version . If you get a bootloop try going back to recovery and flashing magisk 14.3 ..reboot to recovery ...flash xposed ..reboot to RECOVERY ..flash no dm-verity ...clear cache & dalvik ..reboot RECOVERY ...reboot system ......
In nougat xposed maaany xposed modules has bugs so just flash a custom rom bro
the modified xposed is not really necessary as the normal version of xposed works too.
---------- Post added at 07:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:30 AM ----------
Before doing this install xposed installar apk BUT THE LATEST ..give it root access in magisk ..go to settings ..disable verify apps via USB ..enable install from unknown sources ...enable USB debug ...all of this in developers settings
Then boot to recovery and do the above and see what happens ..I don't understand how or why your USB debug is being turned off on reboot because it should survive boot and stay in USB debug mode
If you have substratum installed remove it before doing xposed
Oh yes make sure you are using SDK 25 XPOSED ARM none of the others .

Thanks for verification! thought I were late for the additional one, I uninstalled everything and recovered from boot.img backup, installed no dm verify. Booted into the system. Installed xposed installer, rebooted into recovery and flashed xposed, and I am waiting for the result. (no Magisk installed for this time)
but I don't think it is going to work cuz I have tried all of these combinations before :'(
what was your variant? Qualcomm or Mediatek?

Hello,
I have a Moto E4 XT1762 with the ROM STOCK MOTOROLA_E_NMA26.42-75_ROW (France) and two Xposed module, one: xposed-v89-sdk25-arm64.zip and a: xposed-v89-sdk25-arm.zip much lighter. Alas I remain stuck on the home screen very long at least 1/2 hour before the smarpthone starts. Once in Xposed, I have a message in yellow that tells me that Xposed does not work and you have to go see in the log, but the log is empty.
I have these two files + the uninstall file available if it interests someone. These files come from the site: https://repo.xposed.info/
If anyone can help me make Xposed work, it would be nice. Thank you

Just install the systemless module from inside magisk + systemless xposed apk from link inside module explanation imside magisk & reboot
Or
REMOVE MAGISK & install custom rom and use
"SYSTEM" Supersu version
____in both cases you should be formatting data to EXT4 first
__DOWNLOAD THE CORRECT VERSION OF XPOSED ..your device is NOT 64bit
__download ARM ...
But honestly you could have figured this out if you just read 20% of what is in the moto e4 mtk xt1762 forum and posts

There is one thing I do not understand, I thought the Moto E4 (MT6737) was 64 bits according to a technical sheet that I read ?

Nope. It's chip is capable of 64 bit. But it has no 64 bit software whatsoever.

OK but then for Xposed, you have to take it in ARM64 or not?

No. Arm. It has no arm 64 software at all. No drivers, blobs, nothing. Do not consider arm 64 at all for anything on this device.

OK thank you

I already test it and works on my rooted ms428
I want to give a special thanks to the devs for the patience, dedication and for working hard to make the root possible for this device
Its highly recommended to perform a nan-backup incase of an emergency or incase if you want to go back

See it for your self ?
itztropic- after I rooted I just downloaded the xposed framework from the website normally and it worked properly, I must be not understanding something about the method you described?
I don't really understand what magisk is for I thought it was a developer tool of some sort (which i'm not)

Magisk is a frontend designed to manage apps and modules that use systemless capabilities. It has its own superuser based on phh's superuser, and features modules much like Xposed, though some are useful even on Nougat. Xposed can be installed systemless as well and Magisk can disable and re-enable root and Xposed on the fly, as well as its modules, so you can have a rooted phone and still use Android Pay and Pokemon Go.

Don't re-create threads when they are already present. LG K10 ROMS, KERNELS, RECOVERIES, & OTHER DEVELOPMENT is not the place to post these kinds of things.
There is already a thread for Xposed: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-k10/how-to/guide-xposed-lg-k10-t3505970.
Post it there. Delete this thread.

Xposed Framework installation bricked Mediapad M3

hello everybody,
I bought the Huawei Mediapad M3, I unlock it’s boot loader and installing a new custom Recovery (Greatslon mod) and then flash SU, so the tablet has been correctly routed and everything worked perfectly.
Hounever I think: if you routed your device without install Xposed Framework , you don’t have many many important functions.
Later, I wanted to also install Xposed Framework, I followed the instructions for Marshmallow 6.0 provided by rovo89
but unfortunately when I reboot my M3 it going boot loops, I restored the system with the prior backup
and tried again with apk Xposed , but still the same boot loops, maybe there is something wrong in that Xposed.
Is there anyone who has found a solution to install Xposed Framerwork on Mediapad M3.
when i used marshmallow i used magisk v12 to root and then used systemless xposed v87 from there. worked for me. v87.1 disabled my fingerprint reader

I think it is not important how one rooted marshmallow if after everything works fine, but also i used
xposed v87 from there, and the result is boot loops, maybe it work well on other devices while on huawei mediapad m3 is not good
what I am trying to say is use the systemless xposed and it will work.

thanks for your help, i will first try installing the Magisk interface, in order to install systemless Xposed with Magisk, and then i'll write the result
i flash Magisk , reboot the device, then i installed MagicManager.apk so i use MagicManager.apk to download and install automatically the right version of systemless Xposed framework, but when the device does the boot loader goes into the boot loop, i do not know what to do yet to run the xposed framework on my mediapad m3, i went crazy i never had trouble with various smartphones, i never had a tablet, damn the day i bought it, now i reset it to factory, and then i would like to make a final test before breaking it, do you can kindly list the various steps in the details you've been following, thank you in advance
well I am not sure then why your getting boot loops. so you have installedmagiskv12-then,magisk,manager and then go to module and flash the downloaded v87 framework there
link for v87 systemless frameworkhere
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-systemless-xposed-t3388268.
then after that install this it should be working but dont update to v87.1 or your fingerprint sensor might play up
link for the xposed apk
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/material-design-xposed-installer-t3137758
thanks trd_jzx100,
at this time i brought my tablet back to the factory, before starting a new rooting procedure + installing xposed i would still have two questions:
1) after you made the unlock, which TWRP you installed to flash magisk?
2) i see from the link you posted that the xposed file you used is xposed-v87.0-sdk23-topjohnwu.zip instead i used xposed-v87-sdk23-arm64.zip maybe that was also a problem
later if all goes well, i will write the synthesis of the entire step-by-step procedure for the benefit of all mediapad m3 owners who want to do the same thing with no problems
finally xposed works, i used the system less rooting and then installed xposed v87 by topjohnwu,
now i have a issue with the xprivacy module but this is another story

Rooting OREO (41.3.A.2.24)

I was waiting for a root enabler for oreo (41.3.A.2.24), and I could find https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-x-performance/how-to/guide-stock-kernel-root-twrp-drm-fix-41-t3711837.
But this link is for version 41.3.A.0.401 and it does not work for everybody including me.
Since androplus still didn't bring out a new version of his kernel I tried the method from the above link.
But I'm using newer versions than in the description, I use TWRP 3.2.0, Magisk manager 5.2.2 and Magisk 15.2.
I can install the new version, twrp, the new boor image and Magisk 15.2.
I can boot and Magisk runs but the Safetynet control failes and Magisk does not enable root.
On the installation of the boot image, twrp and magisk I got some messages (marked in red)
unable to mount storage
failed to mount
Before I tried with magisk manager 5.5.1 and magisk 15.1 but then I got stuck at boot time at the sony logo.
Does anybody have a way to root Oreo (the latest version), enable DRM and enable root?
Ok I started all over again and I noticed I didn't follow the procedure first time.
So I excluded the FOTA kernel but whatever else I check no full wipe is done, I can always see the previous installed apps, it does not matter if I check Cust-reset, master-reset or reset-wipe-reason, the system is not wiped.
So that's my first problem, how to wipe the previous install.
Flashing the rom seems to be OK, same thing for flashing boot_oreo.img and twrp-3.1.1-0-dora.img.
I'm not sure about twrp 3.2.0.0 because this version is off-line now, so I tried with TWRP 3.1.1.0 and 3.2.1.0 but they all gave me the same result.
Problems start when I have to flash drmfix.zip, safety-net cleaner or magisk 15.2. The procedure tells me the flash is ok but have a look at thet attached images, I get errors while flashing. One picture for drmfix, one for safety-net-cleaner and one for magisk 15.2
After flashing all of this I can boot successfully but when I try to get root in ES File Explorer pro, it does not work. When I go into Magisk and try the afety-net check I get ctsProfile false and basicIntegrity False.
So the rom does work but I do not get root.
I tried all of this with the Italian rom 41.3.A.2.24.R1E ? I can start all over again with the UK version 41.3.A.2.24.R2E but I do not know if this makes any sense.
So can anybody tell me what to do to get it all going?

1 - Do use always Adrian DC latest fully working TWRP build for dora.
2 - You don't need a 3rd party kernel to achieve that, instead, you can easily create your own one, based always on stock kernel!
Thats the SELinux's problem.
Flash this first then flash magisk

Tried manually flashing firmware with fastboot and now no system

Ok so I've been having a hell of a time with this phone so far. I have the boost mobile variant (xt1766). I unlocked the bootloader, installed twrp, but forgot to make a backup before flashing supersu, after which my phone would no longer boot so I flashed lineageOS. It booted up fine but I had no 3g connection so I wanted to go back to stock. I downloaded the stock firmware, but couldn't get RSD lite to install on my computer so I extracted all the files and flashed them manually with fastboot. After that my phone wouldnt boot and TWRP couldnt mount the data partition so I couldnt restore my lineage backups. I had to format the data partition in order to restore from backup but now I have nothing on internal storage, and my phone wont boot into system unless I boot into factory mode from the bootloader. It boots up fine in factory mode but now I have no network connection, no service whatsoever.
Under sim status it says Network: unknown, cellular network type: unknown, Service state: Radio Off, etc. I tried manually turning the radio on but that didn't work. I really just want to go back to stock but I don't understand how to accomplish this. I flashed everything in the firmware package in the correct order, and somehow it just rendered my phone useless. any help would be much appreciated. I've tried just about everything and I'm at a loss here.
Update:
I successfully got back to stock. For some reason executing the fastboot commands manually one at a time didn't work so I made a bat file with all the proper commands, executed it, and this time it worked. Not sure why it didn't work the other way but it might be because I didn't flash the stock recovery so as not to replace TWRP. Apparently when flashing firmware its all or nothing.
Are there any custom ROMs with 3G functionality for this device? Cuz so far every single one I've tried gets no network connection but this stock ROM is lame.

Not "lame" unless that's the latest descriptor for a reliable, fully functional, device optimized ROM that just works. If you want additional bling/tweaks flash Xposed framework and a few well regarded modules like GravityBox.
Alternatively, you can cycle through the various custom ROMs and decide which suite of compromises you're willing to live with. Suggest a careful read of the relevant ROM thread before diving in. Be sure to backup what works (including stock!) and store those nandroids on a SD card and/or off-device.
Good luck.

That's because you're on boost, not many ROMs here have CDMA support. There is a fix in the help section. But stock is fine for me. Gravitybox and all features of any of the broken unofficial ROMs are all there. Rock solid, and LTE. But flash away dude.

I haven't been able to install the Xposed framework. Xposed installer says my CPU architecture is incompatible. When I flashed Xposed v89 for nougat my phone wouldn't boot past the boost logo. I keep hearing about people getting Xposed working on this device but I can't figure out how they're doing it. I would love to be able to have gravity box on this ROM.
Apparently the purityOS guys made an unofficial work around a while back but all the download links in that thread are dead and I can't find it anywhere else. It's my understanding that i need to be able to set selinux to permissive on boot in order to install Xposed.

No, regular Xposed. Wipe cache and dalvik, and wait. Let it sit 5 - 10 minutes. It has to optimize everything. Make sure it's the arm build. It works fine, just gotta let it sit. First boot takes a good bit.
Or use magisk, and install Xposed through that.
Do not use that old purity crap. That's why the links are dead. It's old crap. Xposed works fine with no extra steps or messing with selinux.

That's BS; don't overcomplicate things. Xposed framework installs fine in enforcing mode. Make sure you have the correct framework for Android 7.1 (SDK 25) and your hardware (arm). You will also need the corresponding management app. There is no need to wipe anything before/after flashing the framework although doing so can't hurt. First boot will take awhile; patience is a virtue.
Got Xposed working now with gravitybox and edge in full effect so this stock ROM is now much more tolerable. I guess I had the wrong version of Xposed installer and didn't wait long enough for boot to finish.
It broke safetynet though which I fully expected. I'd rather use the systemless Xposed magisk module so I can pass safetynet but I can't get any magisk modules to install successfully either through magisk or by flashing with TWRP. Apparently I'm not the only one having this issue either and it doesn't look like anyone has found a fix for it as of yet. I guess for now I'll have to live without Pokemon go lol

Well yes there is most definitely a fix. Your problem is the f2fs loopback bug. Your solution is the f2fs loopback bug workaround module. It's in the magisk manager app. Download there, but install it in twrp. Then magisk modules will work. You must have halted your research a little early because this is well known, and posted in many places.
You still won't pass safetynet with systemless Xposed. Which a little reading would have also revealed. But, you can turn off Xposed in magisk , then reboot and pass safetynet. Do whatever it is you need safetynet for, then turn it back on and reboot. You must completely uninstall the Xposed you have to use magisk Xposed. You must use the Xposed installer APK that's linked in Xposed for magisk so it recognizes systemless Xposed. So uninstall Xposed with uninstaller zip, uninstall Xposed APK. Wipe caches. Then you can just go in magisk manager, scroll to the bottom of downloads, install Xposed sdk 25 module. Also Xposed installer APK linked 8n the readme that pops up when you click the Xposed module in magisk downloads. See screenshots below.
Also, there is more to pogo than safetynet. There is an entire thread devoted to it (more than one) in the magisk section of the forum.
You have a bit of reading to do in order to do the things you want. It's all very easy to find. You don't seem to be looking very hard.

Also I certainly hope that's not the app I think it is (the smiley face)? You're not allowed to promote or speak of that "warez" here. So screenshot is not a great idea.

I'm well aware that the problem is f2fs loopback but due to the bug I'm unable to install the fix. Can't install magisk modules so a fix in the form of a magisk module doesn't really help me. Ive tried installing it with TWRP a couple times with no success. As far as PoGo I've actually never even played that game. Was just curious about it.
And I'm not sure what app you're referring to but that "wow" face is a chrome shortcut. Changed it cuz I didn't like the default grey square.

Trend continues; reread post you're disparaging. Or module OP. f2fs loopback 'fix' gets flashed in twrp or via fastboot (for the adventurous).
I edited my post shortly after your quote. Tried installing with TWRP more than once. Doesn't show up in magisk modules.
Just flashed with fastboot and now it seems to have worked. Fastboot for the win.
Maybe all caps will help out
go inside magisk manager> downloads search F2FS LOOPBACK BUG WORKAROUND, FLASH INSIDE TWRP!!! WILL NOT WORK IF ATTEMPTED TO FLASH THROUGH MAGISK MANAGER!!!!

How to install xposed framework for M1?

I would like to install xposed framework and I can see magisk have this capability in the download section. Can I installed the beta 90 version directly from magisk? If not, what is the best way to install xposed on the Asus Zenfone?
Install from magisk xposed work fine for me
i did install xposed framework from magisk, and follow the instruction of magisk xposed installer from it, (modified xposedinstaller 3.1.5.apk)
but after installed the APK, restarted device, i got bootloop
or maybe i should flash decrypt.zip after install the apk to fix the bootloop?
i couldn't find any guide to this, so any answers would help.

If you have enabled password/pattern entry while boot up, then magisk xposed will not work.
