What touch problem? Input lag? I just bought the phone so I don't know
I noticed newly installed calculator based on the app position in the app drawer,
does this mean we don't have the calculator app before?

I think it is input lag. When I tipe on keyboard I have misses. It doesn't register all my tap so sometimes I have to tap more times on the same key. It is frustrating! Does anyeone now if this is fixed?

I dont have such issues, i use the Xperia keyboard...

I don't know what happened but Xperia Keyboard was also available for my XZ Premium though I didn't install it.

The input lag seems reduced. certainly better since this update (could be placebo) but I'm finding it much better..

Seems like there's a bug in Android that causes the OsmAnd app to be slow when zooming when running on Oreo.
I think Google has a fix, but it didn't come with this update.

The home key lag is noticeable in youtube app - I have to press it 5 times before triggered

Vibrating occasionally
My phone keep on vibrating ocassionally after the update....no such problem before the update

No problems here after the update. Perhaps a software repair will help?

I have both keyboards. And XPERIA keyboard is much better. After this 47.1.A.5.51 firmware update no input lag for now. Only some wifi problems. This morning phone could not connect to my home wifi network. But after I restart phone everything is OK too for now.

New Firmware update 8.6.5.9-20110816, just received it

Hey guys,
I just received a new firmware update since 3.2
build number
HTJ85B.TW_epad-8.6.5.9-20110816
Its still in the process of updating,
waiting to find out what's changed in the new update
anyone else got the update yet?
Oo, its a bundle update, updates the tablet and the dock.
so far I've noticed a few things,
1.the scroll bar that appears while scrolling has changed,
scrolling using it is a bit faster and smoother than before
2. now even when docked, you can choose whether to use the physical keyboard or not, there's a on/off switch in the keyboard
(to me this is kinda weird, why wouldn''t you use the physical keyboard when docked, haha)
3. scrolling with 2 finger using trackpad improved a little bit, it doesn't confuse it with pinch to zoom as easily as before
unfortunately keyboard lag is still there, I guess its not that easy to fix this
anyway, I'll keep digging and see what I can find out
Thanks for the update! Can you check to see if video processing has improved? What about the weird mouse cursor? Did they fix that?
Where are you located? I still have not received an update :-(

I don't think its based on where you're located
but your serial number in the system.

can you be more specific in the video processing speed?
if I remember correctly the 720p youtube problem has been fixed already,
let me know what you want me to check and I'll let you know,
the weird mouse cursor? as far as I am concerned its the same as the last update
Mainly MKV files. But I'm assuming at this point it's a HC or Tegra issue.
Is the nagging compass calibration notification eliminated with this update?
just found out now you can choose to use the new finger style cursor or the old pointer, neat
and I don't know if its new but in setting there's a new graph showing whats using the battery
Hi,
Could you upload the zip file ?

recieved it too, though mouse pointer mode won't allow you to use pinch to zoom, but the directions have reverted back
Any word on ability to root it and compass fix?

I am in China for working but I can receive this OTA when I resume to Taiwan firmware today.
I don't think you can root on a TW firmware as I can never go into recovery mode. Must be the lock bootloader stuff. I got mine back from rma and still on firmware 8.6.5.6 yesterday. Still on OTA.

+1, Can anyone upload the zip file?
Has it cured the wifi problem of constant drop-outs?
Seems like Asus are testing the water with updates, doing them region by region and monitoring feedback from users....
It's a shame they don't have a formal beta program, rather than forcing users in certain regions to be beta testers for the wider audience.
I'm sure there are plenty of technical users in forums like this that would be happy to try out beta releases and feedback useful feedback to Asus....
Perhaps do something like HTC does with individual bootloader unlocks, which you get when you sign up to the "Asus Transformer beta program"....

Just installed through Mobile Odin:
Good:
NO FCs YET!
Wifi data indicators back!
Network mode setting back!
3D effect in launcher!
FM Working again!
XILA2 overscroll glow, more subtle.
Deep sleep works. It always has! Stop asking!
GPS works in maps app and GPS test apps!
Extremely fast GPS lock, even indoors! Extremely unreal of Samsung devices
Quite stable.
Private browsing.
Market works perfectly.
Faceunlock works. *sigh*
USB mode works!
USB host working apparently!
Vibration works well.
Data stats shows individual apps!
Data indicator working!
Helvetica S replaced by Helvetica Neue (used on retina display iPhones).
Bad:
Google widgets still can't be resized.
You have to manually set APN sometimes.
Market FCs when you try to use voice search.
MHL not working.
Ugly:
New samsung animations, similar to GB.
Google Apps logos in notifications bar look distorted and ugly.
Task switching looks weird. See below in screenshots.
Mirrors for those asking:

Should you use this as a daily ROM? I think yes. This is the most mature ICS rom Samsung has released, with 97% of things working. There will be people who don't like TWlauncher, but it's just a matter of haters gonna' hate. Besides, there will probably be a lot more people complaining if things were drasticaly changed.

Nope, still have to use MTP
What do you mean by "New samsung animations, similar to GB."??
App opening animations. You know, like the ones ported from ICS to GB
In previous alpha builds the gallery would freeze up on me viewing pics and videos. Do you see any lagging or have any weird force closes yet?

What's horizontal swiping like?
The LPB kernel on CM9 works great, with the exception of a much longer swipe being required to go from screen to screen.
Edit: should add the GPS module works as it should on LPB as well.
Thanks a lot for saving my work. Please update it with more points, it will help us all.

Serious Camera Improvements with 1.29 OTA!

Just read this article about the 1.29 OTA which is currently rolled out (sorry, it's in german): http://www.androidpit.de/htc-one-update-fotos
(you see before and after pictures, with after on the right)
I knew that HTC did something to the camera software, but I didn't expect the results to be THAT different, looks awesome! Like the author says, it looks like "the gray veil has been lifted"!
HTC One updated with camera enhancement suite and more in Europe
• Improvement to sound capture with Zoe
• Noise reduction in slow motion movie capture
• Improved color reproduction and dynamic range (reduced over-exposure in non-HDR images) in certain conditions
• Fix to display correct ISO in EXIF information when ISO settings are manually changed by the user
• Improved system performance and stability

So the ones with the Developers Edition are out of luck?
I got 1.29.111.11, anyone know what the difference is or where info can be found?
The custom roms ha ve been on this version for a few days now. I can confirm there are definitely light and day improvements, I can't compare with the old version but it's definitely noticeable once you move from stock to custom roms with 1.29xxx.12

Did anyone notice better sound coming from the speakers with Beats enabled?
I don't have the phone yet, but I know that some people are complaining about hissing. Did 1.29 correct that?
Thanks!

before the update i couldnt even open the app without it crashing now it opens at the led works fine till i turn the screen off and back on or put the volume up to high
WIth the update the 'Recently Played', 'Most Played' and 'Newly Added' are back
The Played song have a bold effect in the playlist, the played playlist too
And there's a new easy way to open a menu for every song, before u need to tap for a few seconds the song, now u can tap the arrow in the right corner to open the menu, also with album/artist (dunno if u can do that in album/artist before)
And I'm not sure, but I think LED eff works a little better, nor good enough as 4.1, but maybe is not Walkman related, because the light beat eff is not in walkman app, is in Settings>Display
I don't know why you all use the flickering led visualization. I thought the Walkman app is for listening music and not for watching "psychedelic colors". It's a not needed feature.

Dude, the LED effects is the main reason why the SP stands "peculiarly" out with the rest of the Xperias with the LED strip design. You could say its just superflous but too others (including me), its a novelty function of the device itself...and to lose it after doing an update is just unacceptable. I'm hoping that this functionality is restored on the coming update (FIX as others call it) of the .266 FW.

Disable Bloat/Improve battery life the EZ Way

I see a lot of folks having problems with battery life and lag so I'm sharing my xml file for EZ Package Disabler Pro ($1.49)
This will disable bloatware on your device and help it to run as it should.
Import the xml file and apply.
App: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hecorat.packagedisabler
XML Download(updated): http://www54.zippyshare.com/v/RY5hORye/file.html
It would be very helpful at a first glance if you could list all of the apps that you are disabling in this thread.

There's a lot of talk on the infoweb about the Samsung keyboard. being less that stellar.
I have no problem with Samsung keyboard so far, but I'm not fast typist by any means and don't type much. Isn't there another keyboard you can load, swiftkey or something? I think I had it on my old phone and at the end Samsung was better for me, but should work for others.
Stupid question: since we can disable programs using settings/apps, what is the benefit of using separate dedicated program, besides the usual faster/easier? For example can the program disable apps settings can't?

I froze the Samsung keyboard and am still having problems with it, lol! I still see that bug where the Sammy keyboard periodically tries to place itself back as 'default' is still around. It somehow screwed up my Swype and I had to make a few settings changes to get it working right again.
I've now tweaked my note 7 to where I'm literally getting 1hr and 20 minutes of SOT per every 10% of battery!
