[Q] Installing Gapps on Gionee Elife S7 GN-9006

Hello folks!
I recently purchased a Gionee Elife S7 GN-9006 from China. It does not let me install any google applications or the google play store.
From existing forums, I have learnt that to be able to install Play store , I need to root my phone and install from the appropriate Google APKs.
Could someone please let me know in brief detail, the steps to be taken to install Play Store?
Many thanks.
Cheers,
Vardhman

Hi Thunder,
in the mainwhile I give up. i just install alternative store like aptide etc. but was not able to get google apps working at all.
You do not need root to install aptide, just go on webside and install from there.
More intresting I fund an youtube video from an indian guy that present / introduce a S7 with playstore on screen
Try to get in touche with him , but no succes. Would be great if he would do a copy of rom and we install and wipe data partition. That shoulld do the job.
But he did not answer. -youtube.com / watch?v=15ZzA0KaAY0
(Its not allowed to post links so pls clean link from unnessary charakters)
My asumtion is that Ginoee india delivers a rom ** with ** google apps. We should focus to get that rom.

Can you use iRoot from here:

Remove the space.
Hi altrin, Iroot is not a custom room, it is just a tool to root the existing rom. Not all versions of Elife S7 stock firmware are rootable.
xxlmetabo ask for changing language, as it will be done by custom rom, not by root.
Could you share the link of the website which gave you a successful method to root gionee elife s7

Sounds good. Once you have the new rom on the S7, we will found a way to do backup. I'll try to figure out and send post to you.
May be you can have a chat with the technican employee and ask him how he flash the rom.
Take a usb stick with you, maybe he can copy rom + tool on the usb stick. That would save a lot of work for us
Many thanks for your effort.

First of all, thanks for posting the link and secondly you can very well update you mobile as I have already done that with your link
Hi - Indian firmware version starts with PLK-UL00IN. My mobile firmware version is PLK-UL00. Shouldn't I be able to upgrade to the India firmware.
My apologies to the admin in advance as I have posted similar question in a different thread. But this thread is more suitable to the topic. I am a novice when it comes to firmware.
I tried updating , it failed.. the software update guidelines.pdf which was part of the update states "software version control problems, you should firstly upgrade a transfer package provided by R&D." wher do i get that ?

Hi I updated it with the link provided. Did the archive download properly? Since it's an internal document, I don't think the package is available in public domain. You can check for the rollback package which is given in one of the threads. It might work. Or use the honor multi tool.
Btw, this update is 2 steps forward and one step back. Some good features like visitor mode have been removed. Call recording has become problematic. Previously, I could record easily using boldbeast call recorder. Settings are much more difficult to find. On the positive side, battery backup has jumped tremendously. Plugged out at 9.40 am today. My phone is still at 75 percent at 6.30 pm with moderate use. There is no doze mode setting but I think they have incorporated some features as I can see that phone goes into sleep when screen is off much more frequently. Also, the awesome themes that lollipop had are no more there. Not even the live wallpapers. Mixed feelings about the update overall.

MD5 checksum is F697BB78C8E8202DC78716C8647E8706.
Yeah I was on 160 and did a local update as you suggested. Better download it again. But frankly, I am finding the update more regressive than progressive.

I think many of us may not be aware as how to perform local update in honor 7 which has marshmallow installed on it. I have gone through it and understand how it feels when you download an update and while trying to find local update option update app. Its frustrating and discouraging too. But I could find the way to do it on some other site. Its simple and easy. Just see below.
How to Update
Unpack the firmware package on your computer.
Transfer the extracted dload folder to your phone’s microSD card.
Take a backup of your important stuff using Huawei’s native app.
Safely unplug the USB cable and turn your phone off.
Reboot while holding Vol Up + Vol down + Power for a few seconds. Release Power upon vibration.
Once the upgrade starts let go of the volume keys and allow the installation to proceed.
And enjoy

Rooting issue with mx4 pro meizu phone - exhausted all avenues need advice please

Good Evening
I have recently acquired a Meizu MX4 PRO from my father who buys lots of phones mainly from Ebay and Aliexpress (direct from China) - He has had this phone for quite some time but could never really do much with it because everything was in Chinese and the flyme account is registered to a completely random email address that none of us recognize. Anyhow over christmas he was telling me about it and I said that I would take a look and see what I could do as I have some knowledge of rooting, TWRP, flashing etc. After a good couple of days of trying different things I am none the wiser. I can't for the life of me root this little monkey!
I have tried the following KINGROOT APK, KINGROOT PC, ADB, TERMINAL COMMAND (little knowledge), since exhausting all avenues (I have lost track how many threads I have read) I thought XDA may be my last hope, or at least to find out if it's possible?
Is there anyway of rooting this phone without getting in to the flyme account? - it does sound a bit dodgy I suppose asking this, however it really does appear that a seller in china sold this phone without logging out of his\her account?
Specifications:
Model MX 4 PRO
Android Version 5.1.1
Build number Flyme 5.1.11.1A
Baseband version LTG_3.117.003
If its simply not possible then I will just give it back to my father and say its not possible to do anything with it.
Any help you can offer would be greatly received
Thanks for reading
Darren
Hi. I just bought one with a used flyme account (owner says nver create one....but has his name...probably just created it in the first run an doesn't remember...all in chinese xD) and rooted it easily with KingRoot (then all meizu apps went to hibernation...and no problems til now)
Try to downgrade or update to a beta and try again kingroot 4.8.1 and 4.9.5 did both the job on mine. (SuperSume not...)
You can flash the Chinese firmware with wiping the data first. When the flashing done, go to settings, format internal storage, then you can login your own account

[Help] Upgrading firmware from Android 6.0 on 8227L unit

Hi
I just bought this radio 1GB/16GB:
https://pt.aliexpress.com/item/Silv...167.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.2742b90apiEUzI
I'm new on the Android Car radio. I already intalled the unit all is functioning well. But mine came with the version 6.0 of android. The seller already sent me a lot of firmwares to flash but or they didnt run or the one it worked kept the radio on 6.0 version. (8227L UI06-firmware_v14_20190219.zip) - I uncompressed the two files for the root f the external sd.
Anyone have a firmware for this model? I can send the name the firmware that seller sent me that worked but kept the model on 6.
FOr updating the seller told me to make a reset and put five fingers on the screen.
By the way I was waiting for the update to see if the function will appear but this firmware doesnt have a favorite contacts widget so it's easy to call contacts. I tried some alternatives from google play but when dialingit said i cant find the phone app. Anyone knows an alternative to solve this situation.
Thanks in adavance and I'm familiar with android but this is my first car radio.
Is there any post regarding this model? I didnt understand yet if they are OEM with different layouts or if its a need for the seller release an update...
I see that this forum is not very active like other xda ....It's my first time with a car radio and there isn't one person who can help...
search thread for 8227l firmware or youtube ighostsgunnaz. i believe i have android 9 file that is for touch only. i needed file for touch and key press (volume knob). am uploading zip fiiles to file share host now hope u see and it helps.

[OREO for LG Q8 2017]

How install latest oreo firmware on LG Q8 2017 EU variant model
READ: I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or the current economic crisis caused by you following these directions.
YOU are choosing to make these modificiations, and if you point your finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
Sorry for my English but I'm not a native speaker
Introduction
The South Korean variants of our LG Q8 (X800K and X800L) have long since received the update to the Android Oreo, unfortunately the European variant of the LG Q8 (H970) has not received the same attention from LG in fact despite being like the other variants of devices suitable for running android Oreo, the European firmware is stopped at android Nougat and there seems to be no news about a possible update.
Having the same hardware I wondered if the updated firmware in Oreo of the South Korean variants could work on the European variant, and indeed it is, so I present a guide on how to bypass the model check and flash the updated South Korean firmware to Oreo on our Q8 H970.
Installation
Before starting save all your data and get the latest firmware released for our variant and installs the lg drivers.
Being a new user I can't insert the link, but looking for "H97010d_00_OPEN_EU_OP_0326.kdz" on Google you should find the download.
1) Put your phone in download mode:
Press and hold the power button for a couple of seconds to turn off the device.
Portable with USB cable to PC or laptop.
Then click on Volume up and insert the USB cable into the device.
Release the Volume Up button when the Download Mode appears.
2) Search and download "LGUP_Install_Ver_1_14_3.msi" and "LGUP_8994_DLL_Ver_0_0_3_23.msi" and install them.
3) Search and download "LGUP_DualMode" unzip it and follow the instructions to start it contained in the readme file inside.
4) Search and download "X800L20j_00_0426.kdz" which is the latest Oreo firmware released today for the X800L variant of our Q8.
5) Start LGUP in the screen that appears select "PARTITION DL" and under "BIN" select the firmware you downloaded in step 4 then click start.
Wait until the end and don't disconnect the phone, it will reboot by itself once or twice and eventually it will come to the initial setup screen where you can select your language.
Congratulations you are now on Oreo firmware and your H970 has been converted to X800L!
Problems
- Some strings of Korean text not translated
- The search for firmware OTA updates does not seem to work well
- The second clock in the lock screen always indicates the time zone of South Korea even if no time zones have been set to be displayed
Downloads
- Soon as possible
Features
I did not find any official changelog, but from what I have seen so far there have been improvements to the camera, in general the system seems more fluid and there have been improvements in the interface.
Thanks a lot for putting up this guide!
Since the X800L Oreo firmware works as you mention almost flawlessly on the Q8 H970, I really don't understand why there is no official Oreo release for this device. LG being LG I guess...
I'm currently still ok with Nougat, although it does begin to show its age on the Q8. Still secretly hoping for an official Oreo release for it, it really is an underrated, feature-packed device.
I wonder if it's going to work on LG V34 Isai beat AU japan version since it also has the same hardware with LG Q8.
Update: I saw a video someone from Vietnam converted his LG V10 pro (docomo Japanese version) into x800l, I tried to do the same as my V34 Isai beat is the same hardware model but I ended up with bricked device, can't boot up to the home screen nor being powered off. It's on with the blank screen and can't find any unbrick information anywhere but that's ok lol
I'm sorry for the brick :crying: the v34 isai seems to be slightly different from ours as it doesn't have the barometer and has the wifi battery recharge, about the v10 actually the procedure should be successful as identical to ours that I know of.
The V34 looks more like a V20 than ours so maybe you can try a crossflash with a V20 firmware instead of the X800L firmware.
However it looks like a softbrick and to recover your v34 you can try following these two paths:
First try to enter download mode with the same procedure described in the other post.
Then:
1) If connecting it to the PC is recognized by LGUP try to use LG Bridge to force the restoration of the original firmware.
2) If LGUP does not recognize it you can try flashing the original firmware using UPPERCUT instead of LGUP recovering the original firmware from LG Bridge
UPPERCUT find it by looking here on xda.
If LG Brigde does not detect the phone, it is possible to trace the precise model from the logs and download the firmware directly from the LG servers.
(there is an interesting discussion right here on xda)
Forgive me but I can't put direct links because of the xda rules.
Update us if you can fix it this way.
I hope I have helped you!
Thanks for the answer and information that V34 is kinda different hardware with Q8. I watched a Vietnamese did converting his V20 pro (mini) to x800L which V20 mini pro has the same hardware with V34, and beside the FM radio I cant find any difference from the specs lists with Q8
But that's just my bad and intendedly to gambling by flashing another firmware
As I flashed x800, the phone couldnt boot up but I really could get it into download mode and detected by LGUP. LG Bridge couldn't detect the phone maybe because the contract between LG & AU to limit the device repair only by AU, just a guess.
And because LGUP still worked, and nowhere to find original AU V34 rom and no one on earth has (unless au factory), I ended up to flash Q8 european firmware.
It's just the same can't boot up and the worse part the download mode doesn't work anymore, PC can't detect anything.
From the information I dig, the only way to get into download mode is through access point pin on the motherboard. Since no one has the stock rom, I think this is just unrepairable.
Hello. I asked the Italian LG Customer Service if the Q8 2017 is going to receive the Oreo update. The answer was to be expected. They do not know. So it seems that given the fact that this phone was only sold officially in Italy and UK, they do not care. If anyone with some knowledge could port the korean software, that will be our only chance.
Has there been any new development on this topic?
Tested?
Hi,
everyone tested this solution on LG Q8 2017 and can give a review?
Thanks a lot

It's fine. Can't get the FM radio to work though, plus the minor problems mentioned in the first post.
This version doesn't have my language anymore. From non-Asian languages there are English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Russian.
What's the battery like, and can it run GCam?

Lg q8 2018 (lmq815l)
I apologize for replying on wrong thread but this is the closest post I can ask for help. I can't seem to go into recovery and fastboot mode. Whenever I tried using the adb commands (adb reboot fastboot & adb reboot recovery) my phone just restarts. I can't even find a proper flashing tool to flash the stock rom because of all the msm they supports, mine is not one of them (msm8953) thus the flashing tool can't communicate with my device. I'm not an expert with this so I ask for help.
I was planning on rooting my phone with magisk but I can't find the boot.img in the stock ROM (.kdz) that I downloaded. PLEASE HELP :crying: :crying:
