Substratum - Essential Phone Questions & Answers

Which substratum themes have u guys tried that work? I'm scared to try some because of the fact that I might get caught in a bootloop with no way of recovering

Swift Dark (using the Android 7 - Lineage variant) and LockClean works. Also, themes made in ThemeDIY work perfectly.

I'm using Spectrum theme with no ill effects.

What?!!! You got root or there is a way to make it work without root?

In which theme? They all worked fine, but of course, no OMS on stock. The only lock screen modifications I've done were with LockClean.

It's my favorite. Lots of color choices.

One word of advice, remember substratum is in legacy mode for us for now. If you were updating to new OS version, remember to remove all the overlays first. I forgot about this and had to wipe to get it to boot after updating, but other than that user error, everything seems to work just fine with all the themes I tried.

I am new to substratum and am trying it on unrooted Oreo. I am using Spectrum and I can't figure out how to fix the notifications, they are unreadable, white text on a light grey background. I even tried disabling the Spectrum settings and that doesn't seem to work.

After applying the theme. Reboot and your notifications should be the color you chose. This works for me at least.

Thanks. I saw that some of the settings changed immediately without rebooting, I didn't realize you had to reboot to get the full effect.

transparent notification shade

anyone know how to enable transparent notification shade like in p9 and p9+ and others on emui5?
i find the black one really ugly
Edit:

in /system/emui/lite/local.prop set first line: lite_enabled to false, save and reboot

Has this really worked for you? I have modified it as you indicate but the black color of the bottom of the notification bar is still black.
Could you do screenshots to check this out? I will be very grateful to you :fingers-crossed:

The correct path is /system/emui/lite/prop/local.prop and you have to set ro.build.hw_emui_lite.enable to false

I really didn't understand that stupid policies by Huawei, because they remove a feature that was already unable on the old EMUI4.1, also on the lite series. Anyway thanks for your answer!
Guys, are you looking for something like this?
Would there be any interest in an app that could modify the colour and opacity of the quick settings panel? And possibly of the notifications panels?
I don't know if you're aware that there is a theme editor in the Playstore. I'm not sure what it does because I can't get it to work on my phone, but if it doesn't do that, I'm happy to make an app for modding these things.
Let me know!

It'll take me a while so in the meantime I can do it for you. Just tell me what theme you use and what hex you want for your quick settings background (+ opacity) and for the quick settings icons if you want to change their color.

Substratum issue

Dear,
I bought the swift black for substratum, and I even bought the extra package for substratum that is required to run it on te s8.
But, when I apply the theme, everything seems fine except for the notifications. There still all white.
Is that an issue with the rom I'm running or an issue with substratum itself?
Hope someone can help me.
With the stock ROM on the S8, Substratum themes are not able to change the color of the notifications.
What ROM do you have installed?

Yup, you can't change notifications color or quick settings colors with substratum mods, it's made for AOSP ROMs, not for TouchWiz/SamsungExperience

Substratium not working

Anyone able to get substratium to work on sd note 9?
I am just trying to theme the stock messaging app so that the text box will be black. Is there a stand alone overlay apk that can do the same?
Textra is not an option since I loose some functionality of my gear s2.
Edit: I forgot to run the andromedia pc plugin to get it going. Everything is working now.

I did and didn't work the first time. However I figured it out. I used smart switch to restore from my note 8 and Andromeda was working funny. Uninstall and reinstall fixed the problem.
Thank you
Only some things are working for me. The settings and phone apps aren't. It colours them if i select android 8.1 pixel or nexus but not the samsung option. Using swift black btw
And go To développer settings To enable USB debug mode.
Pitchblack Samsung is running on my note 9 using subsrtatum alone. A bit of a pain because Android permissions ask permission to install per overlay, but working 100% here without Andromeda. I have the US Xfinity Mobile Note 9.

Settings overlay just wouldn't work no matter what settings or device type I tried. I did however get the UI and some apps themed.
I didn't really see a big difference compared to the samsung theme i'm using right now + ADB navbar colour change so i stuck with that. Haven't decided on an icon pack yet.

Looks alright actually. So, you're using a standard Samsung theme with adb navbar mod or are you using parts of swift substratum and adb navbar mod?
I'm currently using swift dark, the bits that work on the note 9, with wings substratum to shade out slightly my black navbar icons and slightly reduce the ( grey color ) of my status bar icons. Oh, and also system ui tuner was used for my black navbar. So all in all , system ui tuner, swift and wings substratum used here.

Unfortunately not. I mostly use it to ensure it's black with my Gboard when typing since I use immersive mode. Apps like Chrome that apply a colour overlay will override ADB.
I assume substratum is the only way from small testing.. Even overlay apps like "Navbar Apps" don't keep everything black unfortuntely.
