[TUTORIAL - NO root or mods!]: How to Miracast from the 6" (2014) KF HD - Fire HD 6 and 7 General

#1 Install this app - "Activity Launcher" (you may need to Google for the APK, and install manually - enable "unknown sources"):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.szalkowski.activitylauncher&hl=en_GB
#2 Run "Activity Launcher", and select "All Activities" from the drop-down menu (top left)
#3 Scroll down to the "Settings" cog wheel icon, tap on it to expand it, and then tap "Cast Screen"
#4 The "Cast Screen" dialogue will open; at the top-right tap the three dots button, and tick "Enable wireless display"
#5 Select your Miracast receiver from the list!
----> Tested on a 6" KF HD (2014 model) with 5.4.0.1 firmware - works perfectly! <----
Also tested on an 8" (7th gen, 2017) KF HD, but it won't connect to my Roku OR Windows 10 PC

If you un-tick "Enable wireless display", does the HD 8 see your Roku OR Windows 10 PC and can send media to it ?
Do you know the specs differences between HD8 and HD6 ?

to do this do the following

Press "Personalize" (top option)
Press "Home screen tabs" (third from top)
Make sure there is a tick next to the Music item
Press Done
I hope that helps
Sorted cheers

[Q] Nook Color rooting 1.4.3-n button issues

I thought I had updated the 5.08.20.apps2sd.block_updates.zip and dalingrin kernal, but after a successful reboot the "n" button still gives me problems. When it is pressed, I am returned to the standard B&N home screen with no access to Zeam/Home Catcher. Could you please tell me what I missed? I did not perform a wipe before updating. Thanks!

Click to collapse
Reboot the device to get back into the Zeam Launcher
Find and open the app "NookColor Tools"
Select "All Settings"
Select "Manage Applications"
Select the "All" tab
Scroll down, and select "Home"
Select "Clear defaults"
Now when you press the "n" and select home, you will be presented with an option box that says "Complete action using," check the box that says "Use by default for this actions," then select the first option that has the home icon, don't select the second one that says "Home" next to it.
Search for it.

Haven't used stock nook in a while, so correct me if i'm wrong. you go to the apps panel thing in the nook stock home, then there should be a search button somewhere. it could also be in the bottom arrow overlay (i think you bring that up now with the n button in the new updates) then you search for zeam launcher and do what previous post said.

Double Tap Home Button To Open Camera

When the Samsung Galaxy S6 came out I really liked this feature of quickly launching the Camera app by just double tapping on the physical Home button. Well for those people looking for something similar(like myself) this is a pretty good and easy way to make it happen, the Camera wont launch as fast as the GS6 but something still better than nothing, I will leave some Step by Step procedure with some pictures for references,so lets get started,
NO ROOT REQUIRED
Download Home2 Shortcut from Google Play for free. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eikatou0.appspot.home2shortcut
1-Open up Home2 Shortcut and scroll down 'till you reach your first stop - "Step1". Here, you'll assign the Home key to the Camera app. So tap "Choose Application", choose "Camera" and hit "Ok".
2-Next, you'll adjust the duration, or how quickly you must tap the home button to complete the action. So scroll down to "Step 2", tap the "Normal" drop-down menu, and choose "Normal"
3-Scroll down to "Step 3", where you'll complete an important setting. Tap "Choose Home Application" and select the launcher you're currently using.
4-Scroll down to the final "Step 4" and tap Close. Android will prompt you to select an app to complete the action. In this screen, select "Home2 Shortcut", and then choose "Always".
5-Go ahead and try launching the Camera by double tapping the Home button. It should work.
THIS METHOD DOES NOT WORK WITH THE SCREEN OFF

How do I create a shortcut to start the camera in Pro Mode?

How do I create a shortcut to start the camera in Pro Mode or get the app to use it as default?
Yes you can
1. launch camera
2. swipe to right
3. click upper top right corner icon (next to plus)
4. select "add shortcut on home screen"
5. select "pro"
6. select "done"
7. go back to home screen, you will find the pro shortdown on your desktop
enjoy ~
It fails at step 3, there is no +, this is not an S7..
There is only the 3 dot menu with "info" and "edit" while "edit" just lets me rearrange the modes in the camera selection screen.

Cast to Chromecast or Smart TV [NO ROOT]

I don't know if this has already been found, or posted about, but I found a really simple way to find the cast screen setting, and make it easily accessible.
1. Download Activity Manager from the Google Play Store.
2. Open Activity Manager and where it says "Recent Activities" click and change to all activities.
3. Find "Settings" in the list and expand it by clicking.
4. Find "Cast screen" on the expanded list.
5. press and hold it, then press "Create Shortcut."
6. if you go to whatever home you have, there should be a shortcut called "Cast screen."
