Redmi Pro stuck in bootloop - desperate to save data - Xiaomi Redmi Pro Questions & Answers

Hi All -
I have a Xiaomi Redmi Pro(mediatek) with unlocked bootloader and running Xiaomi EU Rom (Android 6). I bought the phone in May so it is a relatively new phone.I turned off my phone on a flight and it has never booted back after that. It is stuck in a boot loop. It has some very recent pics and videos of my 8 months old daughter that I desperately want to save. Thre is no SD card in the phone. However, I cannot get the phone to boot in recovery etc. I have tried TWRP. It flashes okay but does not reboot in recovery. Is is either stuck in a bootloop or fastboot screen. Can you lovely people please suggest how to fix this? Can I install china developer rom using mi flash tool and selecting save user data? At this moment, my absolute priority is to save the photographs./videos. Many Thanks.

Flash successful but the phone still stuck in bootloop. The only change i notice is that the MI logo shows up for a shorter duration and the phone boots again. Is there a way to flash using sp flash tool and save data? I used omega_images_V8.5.4.0.MHQCNED_20170922.0000.00_6.0_cn with MI flash tool and selected "save user data".

But sometimes twrp requires a wipe before it can read the internal memory, so it's a 50:50 chance with this method

Dont you hve backup on google photos or miui cloud? Try enter from a pc to verify if the photos and videos are backed up

Not the most recent ones which happen to be the most needed(daughter's first flight, festival etc)

Use the same scatter that comes with fastboot rom, the rename TWRP.img to recovery.img and select this file in flashtools, uncheck the others fields

Help Needed : How to save user data while using SP flash tool?

Hi All -
I have a Xiaomi Redmi Pro with an unlocked bootloader which is stuck in a boot loop or fastboot screen. It has some very recent pics and videos that I desperately want to save. Thre is no SD card in the phone. However, I cannot get the phone to be detected by the computer/ boot in recovery etc. I have tried a few DIY(TWRP) from online forums but to no avail. I flashed it with MI flash tool(fastboot rom) using save user data; Flash was successful but the phone is still stuck in a bootloop.
I came across an article on Gizbeat with the title " Flash ROM upgrade firmware without losing user data cache" which showed how to save user data while flashing the phone with SP Flash tool. The author has advised deselecting certain parts of the scatter file. I have downloaded Redmi Pro china stable fastboot rom, but the scatter file has different parts to what was shown in the tutorial. At this stage, I do not know what to deselect.
Can the experts on this forum please advise which options should be selected/deselected to save user data while flashing? I have attached a screenshot of the scatter file. Thanks already.
Anyone? Please!

I try flash with Mi Flash the last update but the screen of "Android One" is displayed and it is restarted, without being able to enter in the system. It stays in a restart loop.

you don't need enter in the system's phone to do this. just use mi flash on your pc with your phone connected in fastboot mode. search about using MiFlash, it's simple

That's just what I did, what I mean is that when I finish flashing the most recent rom, the phone turns on after finishing the process Mi Flash and the phone starts to restart itself without being able to enter the system and I have to resort to flashing the rom "tissot_images_8.1.10_20180110.0000.00_8.0_8ea503201b" to be able to enter the system again, however does not recognize the sim and if I try to update from the option offered by Android the phone starts to restart itself, same as the aforementioned

LeEco LeTV Le S3 X626 bricked

Hello everyone,
trying installing twrp on my device, I bricked it...
Following some howtos I was not able te "restore" the phone....
I used sp flash tools but I think I made some serious mistakes.
First: "from sp flash tools" I downloaded to phone all partition from image recovery of a x620...
Second: I formatted everything.
Now I can to restart the phone in recovery mode (of leeco) but all images are mirrored and flipped... when I access via fastboot the phone is not unlocked...
Is there someone the can upload the whole image memory of this phone? So I can tray to flash it...
Any idea or suggestion will be very appreciated....
Thanks a lot

Try this:
MT6797_Android_scatter: https://ufile.io/8hfbm
You don't need an unlocked bootloader to flash the stock firmware, SP Flash tools must detect your phone, put all the files you want to flash and click "Download", then conect the phone turned off to the PC, you can try pressing the Vol Up but it's not necessary. Once you listen a sound of PC detecting the phone SP Flash Tool should detect him as well.
If you encountered problems try this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-2/help/bricked-le-s3-x626-flashing-twrp-power-t3715937
The scatter file i put here comes from that firmware.
Hope it helps.

[guide] how to fix totally dead redmi note 4 | stuck in bootloop | qfil flashing

Hello everyone, in today's guide I will tell you all how to fix bootloop problem in Redmi note 4
NOTE: THIS FIX IS FOR THOSE WHOSE PROBLEM DIDN'T GET FIXED EVEN AFTER FLASHING WITH MIFLASH
QFIL is a tool which is used to flash stock firmwares in Qualcomm smartphones.
Prerequisites:
1)Bricked Redmi note 4 (lol I guess you have that already if you are reading this)
2) Working USB cable (You really dont want yourself smashing your head and then finding out faulty cable)
3) QPST Version 2.7.438.3 (Google it)
4) Unlocked bootloader
5) Platform Tools (For passing OEM EDL command)
6) Stock fastboot MIUI ROM (IMPORTANT: Use V8.1.10.0.MCFMIDI from here: http://bigota.d.miui.com/V8.1.10.0....DI_20161228.0000.00_6.0_global_7557bfe334.tgz)
7)QDLoader HS-USB Driver for Redmi Note 4X
Note: I'm not responsible if you mess up your device the mentioned process helped me and others in fixing our devices. You yourself are responsible!
Steps:
1) Open QFIL tool from C:\Program Files\Qualcomm\QPST\bin or wherever you installed it. Run as administrator!
Note: Don't use older version QPST, because you will get an error message when writing userdata section.
2) In QFIL choose Flat Build option.
3) Make sure you you have extracted the above ROM file onto desktop
4) In QFIL tool browse and locate .mbn file
(Named like: prog_emmc_firehose_8953_ddr.mbn)
5) Click on Load XML and select rawprogram0.xml and patch0.xml inside your Fastboot ROM folder.
6) Now turn off your phone and enter Fastboot mode by pressing ans holding power button+vol down button. After that open platform tools folder downloaded above and right click opening cmd in that folder and write following command:
fastboot oem edl
And hit enter (The above command does require your bootloader to be unlocked so kindly keep that in mind before passing the command)
7) Your phone will exit Fastboot mode and red led will start blinking and your phone will be detected as COM port in QFIL tool.
8) At last hit download button, if you did everything right process should begin and end saying download complete.
9) You can now remove your phone and keep holding power button till it boots up. First boot will take some time.
Optional step 10) If you loose your IMEI in flashing process then you can flash your IMEI using Qualcomm IMEI tool (If you face problem in this then comment and i will come up with another guide regarding IMEI flashing)
Hope it helps, if yes be sure you hit that thumbs up button it gives me good feeling lol ?
Reply if you face any problem
Peace!

Hello there,
First of all make sure that you are flashing the fastboot rom which I mentioned in the thread.
Now coming to your problem, open QFIL tool and open configuration panel. You will see many options, check for 'Erase before Download' option and make sure its unchecked then try flashing again. If the problem persist then send me screenshot of QFIL tool along with configuration.
All the best!

Dear, you DON'T NEED TO SELECT "ERASE BEFORE DOWNLOAD" !!! Now listen carefully what to do-:
1) Download mi flash tool and mi unlock tool
2) Your bootloader must be locked now so unlock it with mi unlock (Don't worry just use your mi account it will unlock successfully)
3) Once unlocked flash the fastboot rom in fastboot mode using mi flash tool. IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE YOU SELECT "CLEAN ALL" OPTION
4) Now when flashed your device will restart. Dont let it boot up. Press and hold power+volume down button till you enter into fastboot
5) From fastboot enter EDL mode using "fastboot oem edl" command. Red light will blink
6) Open QFIL and make sure "Erase before download" IS *NOT* SELECTED
7)Click download and you should be good to go

Hi I followed your all 9 steps in the first post. However, me too is stuck in 'mi' logo nothing happens waiting after 10 minutes
Then I followed the following steps, flashed by mi tool followed by QFIL. But my QFIL didn't have "ERASE BEFORE DOWNLOAD" option. I downloaded the exact QPST version 2.7.438.3 from gsmhosting forum.
Still the phone boots and stuck with 'mi' logo forever. I have tried flashing other ROMs like RR, lineageOS from TWRP but each of the ROM is stuck while booting . Only miuiPro "miuipro_v7.0_mido_v9.2.1.0_NCFCNEK.zip" manages to boot but keeps rebooting after every 2-3 seconds. My phone has been useless for 3 long days.

Strange :/ you can try miflash tool for that case. Download the lastest mi flash tool, enter into EDL mode using "fastboot oem edl" command then in mi flash drop down menu in left corner select "flash_factory.bat" and click flash. It will take around 400 seconds. Make sure you are in edl mode with red blinking light otherwise it will wipe your IMEI. Hope it works!

Man, I think its some sort of hardware issue then. Or maybe your messed up your blobs or your partitions real bad and corrupted them. QFIL helped in my case. Got no more tips, maybe its time to visit service center brother One last shot you can give is to try flashing with QFIL first then with Mi Flash. That's last hope! All the best!

Which version of QFIL and which ROM are you flashing with? I managed to flash the said version in OP through QFIL without any error. However, other official versions like 9.xx fail to be flashed by QFIL
A solution that worked after all these troubles
Hi everyone,
This post is for those who are still struggling with 'cool' bootloop in Redmi note 4x irrespective of stock, custom ROMS, you are flashing.
Before all these steps I flashed "mido_global_images_V8.1.10.0.MCFMIDI_20161228.0000.00_6.0_global_7557bfe334.tgz" using QFIL first, then miFlash tool. I was greeted by "can't decrypt phone".
Refer to the OP
Then I flashed lazy_flasher and managed to boot into the stock ROM but couldn't get past the Mi account setup. Even my Keyboard app keeps stopping, so annoying.
The the below Steps I followed redeemed me of this agony powered by xiaomi:
1. Downloaded this firmware==>"global-mido-firmware-7.12.14.zip"
Mokee ROM==>"MK71.2-mido-201803080920-NIGHTLY"
open gapps arm-64, 7.1, pico
open gapps arm-64, 7.1, nano [BOTH] from gapps
2. flashed TWRP=3.1.1-0[official version] from the xda
Code:
fastboot flash recovery [name_of_recovery_image_of_twrp]
3. Entered into Recovery==>WIPE=>Advanced WIPE=> select all partitions==>WIPE[can leave Internal storage unchecked]
4. Then Format Data==>yes
5. Copied firmware, Mokee ROM, pico and nano gapps [4 items] to internal storage
6. Flashed downloaded firmware, then MOKEE ROM, then gapps-nano
7. Reboot to recovery
8. After entering Recovery, Reboot to system
Hopefully we will see mi logo, then Mokee robot animating soon enough. It will take you to setup wizard within 5-10 minutes, If you see any Google apps [Gboard in my case] stopping,
it may mean that google Play services were not installed properly[Don't know why]. In my case I couldn't set up Google account/framework first time. If it happens, go to settings,
enable developer options tapping BUILD version==>then enable USB debugging.
Then reboot to Recovery
Flash gapps-pico.
Do factory reset from Recovery, simple wipe.
Then reboot to System.[DON'T install TWRP as system app etc]
For me, this time I was able to setup google account from the setup wizard. Google service framework has been working without any issues. [ Again Don't know why]
This time I have been able to install my desired apps from playstore
Few more words:
Firstly, I tried flashing only pico, but I couldn't set up the google account, no matter how many times I reboot to recovery, wipe Dalvik-cache etc, then flash pico.
I described exactly what I did that worked out for me. There could be many possible orders, combinations, but I don't have time for that.
I tried to flash Alexy's "RR-N-v5.8.5-20180121mido_alexy.zip" ROM in combination with this firmware but it just will hang TWRP while flashing. only this MOKEE ROM worked with this firmware for me.
I wasted full 3 days for fixing this device. And no intention to tinker with it anymore, my communication has been in a mess!.
While in stock MIUI 'google *apps keeps stopping" just annoyed me as hell, so decided to switch, and after 3 days of disgusting 'Waiting period for bootloader UNLOCK' I couldn't even install a working stock
MIUI ROM now, maybe cheap hardware issue offered by Xiaomi. They have just made everything complex. This is my first and last device from them. My previous Moto G3 was amazing and would be with me had it not been stolen
Will be happy to help regarding this issue, and thank you the OP of this thread, who helped me realize that this device is still able to boot.

1. Downloaded this firmware==>"global-mido-firmware-7.12.14.zip"
Mokee ROM==>"MK71.2-mido-201803080920-NIGHTLY"
open gapps arm-64, 7.1, pico
open gapps arm-64, 7.1, nano [BOTH] from gapps
2. flashed TWRP=3.1.1-0[official version] from the xda
Code:
fastboot flash recovery [name_of_recovery_image_of_twrp]
3. Entered into Recovery==>WIPE=>Advanced WIPE=> select all partitions==>WIPE[can leave Internal storage unchecked]
4. Then Format Data==>yes
5. Copied firmware, Mokee ROM, pico and nano gapps [4 items] to internal storage
6. Flashed downloaded firmware, then MOKEE ROM, then gapps-nano
7. Reboot to recovery
8. After entering Recovery, Reboot to system

I wanted to use RR rom though, but in the end no ROM worked for me except this one. So I'm just happy with it.

[OP6T] fastboot erase persist

Hello ALL!
I normally don't message much because usually I can find most of my problems can be fixed by searching threads online. However, this particular case for me has been exhausting because through trial and error I have been unsuccessful in getting my 6T to boot into any rom normally.
I went from a stock T-Mobile to International version to LOS. The reason I did what I did was because I could get a IMEI or SIM to register on LOS. That worked fine on OOS 9.0.11. but as soon a I flash the latest LOS, no sim, bootloader, or IMEI detection.
I was rooted and unlocked. Now I am neither.
While on LOS, someone on another forum suggested to erase the persist partition and reflash to get the sim imei back so the phone would get service, when the phone rebooted it still didn't work and then the second time it rebooted it always gets stuck on the boot screen and never boots into the OS.
I tried to repair and reflash but was unsuccessful.
Since doing all of that, Ive reflashed using msm tool and although that was successful for OOS 9.0.11 and T-Mobile stock rom. It gets stuck on the boot screens for both.
I flashed LOS on A & B so I don't have a stock recovery.
I can't ADB anymore. I can only seem to connect via FASTBOOT but cannot seem to flash anything because the BOOTLOADER is now LOCKED.
How can I get this phone back to its original state? What ever the persist partition is. Removing it had made the phone non-bootable.
What can I do to fix? I greatly appreciate any help to get the phone operational again.
Thank you all!

- Go to the thread linked above and download the latest OOS (.13) stable.
- Download latest Magisk.
- Have the latest TWRP .img downloaded and on-hand, you will use a few times as well as the installer .zip.
- Be sure to have adb/fastboot installed.

- Put your phone into fastboot mode (reboot to bootloader).
- Go to the folder you downloaded in the first step and run the "flash all.bat".
- Ignore errors. If it's get stuck for more than 45 seconds, just hit enter to keep it going.
- OOS will boot. Go to settings, enable developer setting, enable advanced reboot and reboot bootloader again.
- Use "fastboot boot 'twrp-file-name'.img" to boot into TWRP.
- In TWRP, go to Reboot and changed the boot partition to the one NOT CURRENTLY enabled. In other words, switch boot partitions.
- Reboot bootloader.
- Go to the folder you downloaded in the first step and run the "flash all.bat" again.
- OOS will boot. Go to settings, enable developer setting, enable advanced reboot and reboot bootloader again.
- Use "fastboot boot 'twrp-file-name'.img" to boot into TWRP again.
- Move Magisk installer and TWRP installer from steps two and three onto the internal memory of your device.
- Flash TWRP, reboot recovery to make sure it sticks.
- Flash Magisk for root.
- Wipe dalvik and reboot system.
You will have the latest stable OOS on both partitions at this point! I literally just did this yesterday. Good luck!

Thank you but how can I flash if my bootloader is locked? Everything I try fails.
I guess the real question is: How can I get the phone to turn on OEM UNLOCK so I can fastboot unlock the Bootloader if it wont boot up the OS?
Is there a way to fix it via the msmdownload tool? Custom file maybe? I've tried the files 9.0.11 & 12 OOS files and all I get is the boot screen white ball logo circling the red ball - stuck in loop and same with stock t-mobile rom.
My friend, sounds like you need to restore your EFS partitions
... I'm trying to figure out how the hell you successfully flashed MSM tool in EDL mode and not have ALL your partitions restored. That tool is supposed to literally write the phone as it came out of the box. Also I think there are different MSM tools for each device respectively, you did use the T-Mobile one right?

My thoughts exactly. So, when it was on LOS I erased the persist partition and that really messed things up. So yes, how can I restore the partition back with a locked bootloader? Every time I've used MSM tool it fixes everything. This time no such luck. I flashed 9.0.11 & 12 and then I did the T-Mobile version. All only boot to the boot screen and hang. In doing so, I wasn't thinking if that failed and it locks the bootloader, then what? I saw an old video somewhere on a oneplus 2 or 3 where the person used the msm tool 3.0 and fixed a bricked locked bootloader phone. Similar to the fastboot method of reformatting. In the msm tool folder he had all the image files for all the partitions not sure if that the same thing as msm tool 4.0 with just one ops image file?
Anyway, is there a way to unlock the bootloader without booting into the OS? Or a way to restore the partitions via msm tool?

Try this and tell me if it works.
Have you tried this dudes stuff? https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/how-to/op6t-collection-unbrick-tools-t3914746
... Not even sure what it is really, just says collection of unbrick tools.

Yes, I did try that. That is what I just flashed with the msm tool. Gets stuck on the OOS boot animation.

Looks like the MSM tool. I'm going to give 9.0.13 a try but I'm thinking I may have the same problem.

Tried 9.0.13. Still gets stuck on OOS boot animation screen. There's got to be something to flash to fix this.
So you're booting EDL mode then flashing the MSM tool that exactly matches the way your phone came stock? At this point I would discontinue trying to convert it to international or upgrade the OS to a more recent version or any of that. I would focus on strictly flashing it to exactly the way you bought it.

Yes. I did flash the stock T-Mobile ROM via the MSM tool. Freezes at the pink T-Mobile boot screen. Pretty sure the partitions need to be fixed but I thought the MSM tool would do that? I guess not. Is there a more advanced MSM tool where I can see what's being partitioned or is the MSM tool not doing any partitioning and that's why the phone is having the boot problem?

I know this is a stupid question but have you tried a factory reset in recovery mode? I know its a stupid question but I did not see it asked or noted.

No stupid questions and I don't mind repeating answers to questions. I have tried that, but it does nothing. I get wipe cache or reboot to fastboot or reboot to recovery. When I choose system wipe, it takes 1 second to finish. It reboots and it gets stuck on the boot screen. Ever since persist partition was deleted it just freezes on startup and now that the bootloader is locked I cant seem to get anything to work. MSM tool I thought was supposed to fix this sort of thing but it has failed. Someone must know a way to get back into the OS so I can turn on OEM Unlock.
How do you know your bootloader is locked?

Fastboot says bootloader is locked. Shows it on the fastboot screen. Wont let me transfer any files from pc to phone. I can start the transfer process but it fails.

So you're able to enter EDL mode with a locked bootloader? How do you know your computer is seeing your device in EDL mode?
I'm going to place this here for myself for now. I'm just trying to understand your situation a little better, but this is just for later.... maybe, depending on your answer. https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...how-to-reboot-to-edl-fastboot-t3394292/page12
ALSO; If you don't mind can you link the thread that contains the original discussion where your problem began?

The point of EDL is to get around any restrictions or issues with the device, so yes, you can boot to EDL while locked. Your link will not help much because he can already get to EDL. Not to mention he will have no ADB access. Whatever he does, he has to fix it in EDL.
OP: Are you up and running yet? I am willing to try copying out my partition and sending to you.
Let me know...

Wait, I just realized that my persist.img would not work because he has no way to flash it.
Nevermind.
