A new Firmware is showing up in Firmware Finder, changelog:
This update optimises settings and prompts related to Mirror reflection to select better selfies.
Optimises settings and prompts related to Mirror reflection to select better selfies.
Integrates Google security patches for improved system security.
Although it's not yet approved for installation :/

And at this time No Full Update ROM in Firmware Finder. I Hope Huawei will enable IT soon.

I'm wondering if the manual update will work after it's approved. I have a bad experience with flashing otas. Only full otas have worked so far...

Ota update will not work and only Fullota-Mf file works manually

Sorry for noob question, but what is the difference between full and other updates ? Thanks !

Full updates can be flashed manually but OTA can not. PV versions can be flashed via twrp and FullOta-MF via dload.

We can. If there is ota update oushed to your phone, Download from FF and put in HwOuc folder and check the updater, it will be 100%. No real use though

What do you mean no real use?

Did someone manage to manually install any of the available otas?

Update success
The update is now approved for installation!
Make sure you download the OTA with the biggest file size, the other OTAs failed the installation.
I got the October security patch and EMUI was updated to 5.0.1

I just setup the in app proxy and downloaded it from the system updater

Good evening, are you using the proxy to the end? I have to remove it once the download starts otherwise it says "unstable connection". The download is going well but do I have to give the proxy for the installation? Thank you and good evening

If I do so it downloads the OTA, then Patch 1, Patch2, Patch3 and after Patch 5 I gave up...
Then I downloaded all files manually and placed them into the dload folder of my SDCARD, started update with 3 button method, but this didn´t work either...

Can you please tell me what is your build number ?
I just tried the HFF proxy method with the three OTAs on my L51C432 but all failed after 15 % of installation (after the reboot).
Did anyone else succeeded ?

My build number before the update was NEM-L51C432B355 then it updated to B357. Are you sure the update didn't work? When my installation went to 50% I got the installation failed error then it rebooted, but I checked the about phone page and my build number changed so the update was applied successfully even though the installation failed.
Check your about phone page to see if it updated.
BTW im using Elite ROM V6 now.

You need to leave the proxy on during a firmware finder download. You can change it back after the update is applied.

Thank you it worked perfectly. I didn't need to reset the proxy. On the other hand the download took hours!

Works perfectly, but I had to re-unlock my bootloader.
Maybe not related, but I can't update the Google Play Services to 11.7 after unlocking because of different signature. I had to restore a backup from Titanium Backup to get the last version. Is it just me ?

New update to COS 13

A new update just got released for the OPO. Installing it right now. First obvious change is the jump from 13.1.1 > 13.1.2
New build number is ZNH2KAS3P0 and the update size is roughly 50 mb.

Either you have to flash stock recovery and flash the update (if your SuperSU is systemless) or have to flash TugaPower TWRP and flash the update.
Thanks

I've noticed Firmware Finder has been updated 3 or so times in the last few days due to some bugs, it now no longer shows B180 as available at all, just B181. Previously both the full and smaller versions of B181 were showing as authorised, now just one smaller sized version of B181 out of the 4 it shows are available are showing as authorised....but still fails to authenticate after downloading

Firmware Finder was updated yesterday and I checked authorization of full OTA B181 (with IMEI), FF answered YES! I started the "send firmware to updater" and changed wifi to Server=Localhost + port=8080 and the download started slowly. Then I paused the download, changed the wifi back to normal and restarted download again.
After downloading all night: I AM NOW updated from B172 to MHA-L29C636B181 and on 5th May 2017 security.
Good luck

1. are you on the same code C636?
2. did you chose the FF option of sending your IMEI? I suppose that you updated FF to the latest ver.
Good luck

Hi Tex!
You are absolutely right about the "special peculiary" update policy - or rather very irritating policy - from Huawei's side. They are selling the mate at at rather high price, telling lies about which type of ram they include, at start mending the phone at a very slow and unpredictable way. In my case the touchscreen have not been working properly before this B181 update.
I sincerely hope you get your proper update soon. So you have to keep trying

You are not alone, no joy here in NZ either.
Given it's the same hardware with the same software build, I'm wondering if they're checking against the MNC/MCC of the installed SIM card(s) when authenticating. May be worth trying without a SIM installed.
A previous update (156?) passed auth when a new Huawei ID was created for a region that had the update approved, so there may be several components at work here. Keen to find out the common elements between devices that have and have not passed the auth check for the update to make this easier in future.
EDIT: Nope, removing the SIM (and switching regions) achieved nothing, still fails auth. Must be server-side.

Authorization always fails for me on new firmware via FF.
For HiCare, ensure you use Service >> Update. If you just go to Member >> Check for Updates I don't think it will work.

[update] l04c567b388

Looks to be a minor update, but at least they're still thinking about us
States EMUI version 5.0.1
Android version 7.0
Android security patch level August 5, 2017
So far, the main change I have noticed is the addition of a "Moving Picture" mode to the camera app, which is similar to the Live Photos you would find on iOS.
Also, it seems they have added an automatic video creation "Highlights" feature to the Gallery app, utilizing Quik video editor. Not sure if this was already included in previous versions.

Got this update notification on my FRD-L14 2 days ago and for some reason it keeps failing to install with error "failed to verify update package" i was initially rooted and had Magisk 14.0 installed. But i've reverted to stock recovery and boot image which i flashed using fastboot commands.. Can anyone help with the above or better still piont me in the thread on how to create a TWRP package so i can flash it.
I've even gone as far as flashing system.img from my backup B385 UPDATE.APP but still no luck.

U have stock recovery and boot right? Flash the recovery and boot image of B385 and then from recovery factory reset ur phone. After that try and see if u can update ur device. Also if u wish to lock ur bootloader then hit download latest full package.

Well I got the phone about a week ago and just activated my new tmo sim card last night to get cell service on it so I'm probably not the best judge of whether any performance changes occurred. Based on the change log I wasn't expecting much though.
FYI I'm still completely stock, locked bootloader for now if that made any difference in the delivery of the update.

Thanks for the explanation. This is the route I had to take. I have FRD-L04. I was on B385 with TWRP and Magisk 14.0. Unrooting and flashing boot.img and recovery.img from 385 did not help to install the new update. I keep getting the same error of Package failed. No matter what I seemed to try nothing worked.
So, this sucks, but, I factory reset. Then RE-locked bootloader. Then, I had to download *latest full package* otherwise I still received same error. But, now I am on B388 and i'm going to try flashing TWRP and installing Magisk now.
Live photos seems interesting. Pretty excited about that.
Question to anyone who got the update, any changes in battery life?

Once you get the notification for system update on your phone, it will automatically be available on Hisuite.
Make sure to back up user data before flashing any update as you may need to manually perform a factory reset before using the new update. I own an FRD-L14 US version and i am on the latest update for my model thanks to Huawei Pc suite. All other methods always fail after 5 - 10%.
To update using Hisuite, simply launch the PC software and click on update after properly connecting your phone. I have been referring to only the PC version as i can't vouch for the phone software.
NB: Don't forget to flash stock boot and recovery if you've modified your device prior to using Hisuite otherwise it'll fail after reboot to recovery.
Best of luck, Cheers!

You will get the OTA some weeks later. Until then, you will not be able to flash the update through any official means (like using HiSuite, TWRP, erecovery, etc.). If your bootloader is unlocked, try my "Flashing unapproved Firmwares" guide for Honor 8 in Guides section. It will work flawlessly.
Did anyone already successfully manage to install e.g FRD-L19C432B399 ?
I tried dload, Red_lotus and flashing with FRD_RECOVERY_NoCheck.img
Yet it always tells me "installation failed" Is there anything i can do to get it work?
I am coming from B398 and need this battery optimization update or I will sell my phone..

flash the both recoveries again and retry, it resolved the issue for me.

i took the day to reply because i wanted to play it safe before i tell you how battery life is.
i've been getting 12+ hour battery life on my usual days, if i'm out and about doing things i last 10ish hours.
the update seems to be a little better on the battery side, but november patches are nice as well.

Nice to hear about it. For 12h you mean global usage or screen time? Anyway I sent my phone for battery replacement. We'll see when it comes back

sorry about the late reply, but yes 12hr battery global. for screen on time i get 4-5hrs usually, i just got this phone a few months ago as a FRD-L04. i rebranded because of how slow updates come out on the L04, which was my real only complaint with this phone. battery life is awesome and emui is sleek and nice compared to other OEM android roms.
i don't really care for much about SOT because my whole goal is to minimize that as much as possible. i use a moto 360 daily so most of my notifications are going to my watch and my phone stays in my pocket.
other than that, this update is just a security patch.
