The Play might have the power to play 1st generation PS2 quality games but has no where near enough power to emulate them
but it can sately be set at 1.5ghz n even put on 1.8ghz prosser without crashing is that not enough?
Well lets put it this way, not even the PS3 has enough power to correctly play PS2 games in software and the PC PS2 emulator requires a powerful computer.
So no I dont think we will ever see PS2 games on the xperia play.

* CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 3.2ghz or better
* GPU: 8600gt or better
* 1gb RAM (2gb if on Vista / Windows 7)

is it not xbox easier to emulate? I mean its hardware is similar to a normal PC, ps2 has like 128-bit processor.

Xbox hasn't even been emulated properly on the PC yet. I think the most advanced emulator we will ever see on the xperia play is the dreamcast, other consoles are just too powerful to emulate.
trying to play xbox games on the play is like trying to run windows 7 on a calculator xD

So does the Xbox. It is more similar to a x86 architecture, though. Still, one of the emulators asks for the following: http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/xbox/xeon.html
If you want to run it properly, it is strongly recommended to have the next:
Windows XP
Latest DirectX
Pentium 4 2.0Ghz
1024mb RAM
Recommended Video Cards: GeForce FX or Radeon 9200 Pro or higher

actually there is already a working dreamcast emulator for android and it works pretty decent, there are a few videos of it on youtube but the developer has not released it publicly yet.

AFAIK, the Android DC Emulator was stalled because the dev had been unheard of for months.

Ive got nullDC running on a slower laptop than that, i had skies of arcadia running (with graphics glitches) on a laptop with intel atom cpu, onboard graphics and 256mb of ram

This is giving me serious deja vu.
Do a search next time.

Theorycraft Tegra 3

Pure speculation at this point, but anyone who might have more insight than the rest of us chime in on the full power of a Tegra 3 that we are supposed to be seeing in the next Transformer.
Specifically my wife is giving me the ultimatum on my PS2 game discs that are gathering dust. I adamantly insist that I'll see a PS2 emu on the Tegra 3 so I am saving all my PS2 RPG's for that day. She thinks I am being a packrat.
Only you can save my PS2 discs from the salvation army!
Don't hold out hope for a PS2 emulator on Android any time soon. The current PS1 emulators barely run at full speed, even when overclocked. On PC, you need about a 4Ghz CPU clock to run most PS2 games at full speed. It's all because the PS2 runs on a unique architecture that no one has yet been able to optimize for current hardware, and Sony has never been nice enough to open source the PS2 for emulators.
My advice? Rip all of your PS2 games to a hard drive, then get yourself a brand new gaming PC and overclock the crap out of it.
Hm, I never had any gaming device other than the original nintendo... and I got that from a garage sale. Man, you people are spoiled.

Thanks for the honest answer.
An even different point of view: the PS3 can't emulate via software the PS2. And Sony kinda knows how a PS2 works

[Q] Windows 8 Tablet for decent gaming

Hello guys!
Do you know if there have been some testing on Windows 8 Tablets with gaming (yes its not out yet, but many tec sites tested it)?
Or did you tried comparable hardware on now available devices with games? I mean like crysis or medal of honour warfare 3 with minimum details / or maybe higher?
Which announced tablets would you recommend for such decent gaming?
Thanks for you infos.
Cheers and best wishes
If by "decent" you mean games that require discrete gfx, then forget it. All Win8 tabs announced thus far use either Clover Trail (Atom Z2760) w/ PowerVR, or Core CPUs w/ integrated HD4000. If you want to know how well those work for games, just look up gaming benchmarks for those respective GPU cores. Suggest perusing Anandtech, TomsHardware, or similar sites.
Games will need to be redone for tablets, even x86 games, not only to optimize for the lower GPU capability, but to also incorporate touch. "Decent games" as a definition will change over the course of next year. For current games, the answer is: none.

Making a 3d rpg for the sony xperia z or android phones

Hello i have the sony xperia z with a adreno 320 gpu and a cpu of quad core clocked at 1.5Ghz.
It has open gl 3.0 support and many games run fast without glitches or lag on it.
So i am thinking of making a small game like skyrim or a small rpg for powerfull android phones.
I have heard of a mini skyrim game/skyrim.APK for the androoid phones. They are able to execute it but its only a mini game and it was made by somebody using a modeling software .
I think they used java for coding. Or c or c++ mayb using native development kit.
I would also like to develope a mobile game. Please can someone show me what SDK and IDE to use to start developing games which use the gpu and cpu propely. Is that up to me? Do i take decision on how gpu and cpu are used. Or is it up to the game to decide on how gpu and cpu are used.
I think that the cpu would works great with my games and so i my gpu very powerfull since it can run many good games at once.
How should i get staerted? im a beginner. even in java im at the basics. So can i use a modeling software like blender or maya autodesk for making my charecter models or anima8or for making my characters in the game and why would i use code like java code for in the game?
Can i use keyframes in adobe photo shop?
I wanna develope a gamee like skyrim for android phones. I know its possable but there must not be a port. It must be coded for that device only and not taken from xbox and ported to android otherwise it will lag alot i know. Ijust want a way to copy the maps and all 3d animations from my xbox hard drive's game from skyrims maps to my modeling software then from there add code for android ,
create everything manually

An intel atom is usable in 2022?

Here's a question.
Can i use an intel atom for basic tasks and old games??
I'm gonna read your replies.
Here's the specs:
Intel atom N450 1.66Ghz.
2gb of ram 667Mhz.
160gb 5400 RPM WD blue hard drive (I'm gonna replace it with an 120gb ssd because is failing)
I want to use as a Quake 3 arena pc too
Here's a capture of the barely working windows 7 ultimate installation

From looking at random videos online, it could (hopefully) run Quake 3 Arena at around 40fps on Medium. I don't know if it could run many other games, though. The best I can see it doing is emulation of old consoles like N64, and very simple games from the 90s-2000s.
My suggestion: Stay away from consumer oriented versions of Windows. Use Enterprise if you can. I use Enterprise 2021 LTSC on my gaming PC; it comes with none of the bloat that the consumer versions do.
The performance of your rig depends heavily on the GPU, but the Atom is not intended as a desktop/gaming chip. I wouldn't expect much.
