Thanks Char_G! I've been running this rom with the Pixel2 modded launcher and after the initial setup, it smoothed out nicely. It's been running great! I love all the features that are in it even in the early stages of this rom. Everything is working well for me so far. Kudos to the Dev on this one!

can i install official opengapps? on this rom?

Has anybody tried Android Auto with this ROM? It seems to connect just fine, but I only get a black screen on the head unit.
This was a great running ROM for me. But Android Auto is a deal killer for me. I am attaching a logcat for you guys to look at to see if you see any issues with it. It should be something do to with gearhead I believe.

Yep.

So last time I used a Oreo rom on Shamu, I had issues with my banking app (Simple) and Netflix, and I'm betting the issues were related....so does the latest netflix app from google play work?

The problem isn't Oreo, but the unlocked bootloader tripping safety net, Netflix also blocks rooted devices now. You can try magisk for root, I don't use it so I can't help you out with that.

Not sure, I don't use Android auto, but if you go to the official thread with your log, one of the devs will take a look at it

I just posted it in the official thread. Hope they can find the issue. This was by far the best ROM in every other aspect as far as stability and polish to me.

I had Magisk but it didn't help. Said SafetyNet passed but Netflix didn't launch, saying "device error".

Are NFC and Bluetooth working. Aside from some jankiness here in there, I think those are the only 2 things I've ever really had issues with on all the Oreo ROMs so far.
Edit-
NFC and Bluetooth look good so far! Only issue I've seen so far is OK Google detection Not letting me through the setup.

For the Google Assistant, I added it from the Play Store. Works very well.

I did use GZR. I've installed to Google app from the play store. Doesn't that include what's necessary to use the hot word activation?

Just the google app is not enough, but definitely needed. You also need the assistant.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.googleassistant&hl=en

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here. I've installed Assistant, uninstalled both Google app and Assistant, set them up again, checked permissions and default app settings...
This screen is as far as I can get. As soon as I click Get Started, it goes back to the screen showing "Ok Google" any time is still off.

I can get "okay Google" to work from the home screen and during Maps, but I haven't been able to get it to work "anytime" yet.

OOohhh, I was assuming we were talking about the same thing. Ok.

What extra are you all getting out of installing the Assistant app? Without it I'm able to use the hot word on the home screen.

Welp... through some combo of messing around I'm now at this screen...

What rom makes netflix work?

I installed ECO3 from imnuts and it works great, but if i install the updated 2.2.2 ECO7 Netflix will not work, am i doing something wrong. Everything else works
I've noticed that as well. I think it has something to do with the api, but I'm not sure. It worked on EC07 for a while, and the app update broke it. If you can get one that is a couple of versions older, it will work fine. I just haven't bothered to find one, since watching streaming media on a phone is kind of silly for me, when I have my computer on hand at all times.
There are a few apps on my 2.2.2 that dont work. Such as banking app, home buying app Zillow. They force close. Are you saying your netflix force closes?

No. You get an android toast message that says "we are unable to start netdlix. Please restart" and error code 136006. I haven't bilothered to call netdlix, or logcat it, since I don't watch netdlix on this thing. Since its not just me with this issue, ill play with it this week. Colby, what Ron are you on? I'm on t1231's ec07 deodexed. Personally, since it used to work on this Rom, I think an app update it broke it.

I'm pretty sure an app update did break it. It worked fine for me on EC07 and then Netflix added support for Cyanogenmod in a recent update and that's when it stopped for working for me

I love ya man... and no, I don't want your bud light (flashback, anyone?)
EDIT: i don't love you anymore. The app worked fine, for about 3 seconds. After that, Netflix forced me to update before it would even let me sign in... and back to square one. Oh well. I didn't wanna watch anything on that tiny screen anyway. But, I'll call netflix tomorrow with the error code and see what they say. Maybe their dev team can fix it.
Ok, called netflix. That wasn't exercise in futility. She suggested I call samsung to get an update to 2.3.... Yeah.
Muddling through logcat, now. If I can decipher it, I'll see what I find. I'll also post it so that others can muddle through and see if they catch something. Anyone else having issues, I'd suggest posting one as well. Maybe we can find a common thread. It would make knowing where to hack the app a lot easier.

2 things I noticed.
1. on line 134 (if you are using notepad++) it says
I/WindowManager( 2466): Device ID doesn't match window display, ignored!
2. Both times I tried to start the app, with logcat going, it seemed to trigger the ticker and weatherbug to spool up and go through their paces (location update, set wallpaper, etc.) it also seemed to cycle the bat stats.... The battery stats may be a normal process, since it's starting a high usage app. I'm not sure.

lol ... Your account should be banned.
i think there's two, and i've tried them both - but back on v5 if that helps. both can be downloaded here: http://www.miui.com/download-110.html
the first one is miui_i9505_shiro_5.5.22_297f4c9327_4.4.zip - works ok but google apps won't work & I can't get titanium to run (freezes at 'checking for sqllite'). I've tried both clean flash and dirty on top of v5. In a clean flash wifi won't enable.
the second one is miui_i9505_rainbow_5.5.22_6a27167d52_4.4.zip - everything was great with this apart from one thing, 3rd party apps can't switch on mobile data. this is shown as 4.4 kitkat so might not be linnked to the lollipop changes, but even with a rooted phone various toggles i tried & more importantly automateit couldn't enable mobile data (it can disable no problem).
so for me, one has wifi probs, the other data toggle probs. both deal breakers so i'm back on the one here.
another Shiro version released today, same link as above. trying it later...
edit: still hates titanium.

I'm surprised people actually want to run MIUI. As good as it's interface is, and as beautiful as it runs, it ain't a patch on any TW ROM. Very strange.
And I use a genuine Xiaomi phone as well!!

I don't see why people like MIUI vs TouchWiz or AOSP, or CM.
MIUI is big and bloated and slow and full of Chinese unnecessary dog****. The Redmi Note 4G (my phone) runs MIUI V6 and seems to have lots of problems but when I flashed a Lollipop CM12, improved hellishly, but no camera so I couldn't keep it

Oh I wasn't looking for an argument, was just hoping you could tell me what I'm missing when I switch away. The phone I have right now, runs MIUI, so trust me, I've got lots of experience, but to me, it just isn't worth the bother. Plus, their update cycle is painful.
I guess it depends though, if you're a developer MIUI really isn't for you, but perhaps as a user, it might be more appealing. I find MIUI a really awkward platform to develop on.

I joined last night but it takes 24 to 48 hours. Because I'm rooted I can only try it on AFTV stick. I'll report back if I get the update before others.
I signed up with no issues except my box is still on 51.1.6.1 trying to figure out if the box should receive 51.1.6.2 first or will it still update to the OS5 preview? I posted feedback to Amazon waiting for the answer. Do I need to wait for the 51.1.6.2 OTA?
Signed my AFTV up. Time to wait and see
I'm on now.
Two Sticks (one US and one German) and one Fire TV.
Sticks are on 51.1.6.1 ..Im on now.

Got my update this morning. Bad news: it breaks Firestarter. Everything else, including Kodi, is fine though.
Don't get too alarmed if you see a black screen and flashing light for what seems eternity. It will eventually load. Might be Firestarter holding it up. You will need to uninstall it until it's updated or find another launcher.

Live Earth Pixel 2 Wallpaper and OREO

Hi all, when I was in Nougat I used to set the live earth wallpaper from Pixel 2. Now that I'm running an OREO rom it simply doesn't work. I tried both 8.0.0 (it installs but force closes) and 8.1.0 (it doesn't even install)..
Does anybody know a solution?

Just tested it myself and it works on my S8

[NEWS] LineageOS 17.1 adds support for Pixel 3a

XDA posted late last week that LineageOS 17.1 will be adding official builds for the Google Pixel 3a (Link Here).
So far there have been no builds posted, but they should be here soon
Edit 2020-09-08: There is now a live build on the download page.
Both cdesai and npjohnson deserve a big thank-you for stepping up as maintainers!
Nice.
Is it possible to dirty-flash over the unofficial builds (posted recently in telegram)?
No, scratch that, better question: Where's the active-edge support?

I was wondering the same; I've been using the invisiblek build but it hasn't been updated since April.
I should probably back up before I try a dirty flash just in case; can anybody recommend a good backup solution that works without root? The most important thing is my 2FA data.
I flashed it yesterday and ran it all day today. So far it seems to be working just fine. I'm really going to miss having Google Pay at lunch the next time I forget my wallet at home. If there isn't a work-around anymore, I'll probably use the low-tech solution and stash a 20 dollar bill inside my phone case.
I came from stock (rooted), so I can't answer for any of the dirty-flashing questions.

Battery life might be slightly worse, but any time I load a new rom I'm picking up my phone more than usual so it could be that.
Instructions from the Lineage page are correct. I went with Open gapps pico and installed everything else from play store. Had a slight issue going through the wizard because it thought my WiFi wasn't working but I was able to skip and set up manually.
Google camera from play store is working and seems to open at least twice as fast as it did on the stock rom.

I'm wondering the same thing. The only thing I really used it for was flashlight, so I enabled the press-and-hold-power-when-locked option which will suffice for me for now.

Does Google call screen work? Is it just Google Pay or do banking app not work either? Thanks in advance. It's been years since I've played with LOS.
I wasn't able to finish Google login during setup with and without Gapps. Back at stock.

Call screen is stuck saying "Activating Call Screen (requires WiFi)" but my banks and credit card apps work fine.
Nice!
Did anyone test the e-sim functionality?
Google maps would not use location data. In order for location to work in Google Maps, I had to open it twice, doing an app close after the first open. Drove me nuts.
