Which one to buy? MI A1 or MI 5/MI 5S - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

With the release of the new Xiaomi MI A1 , which is in the AndroidOne program, here in Romania it has the same price as the MI 5/MI5 S flagships
For standard daily usage, which one is better to buy? The old flagship or the new mid-ranger?
The MI A1 has a smooth stock android ROM, but a mi5/mi 5s with a custom ROM should be better? Are the MI5/5S custom ROMs stable? Thanks.

"start"? Shouldn't they finished it by now?
By the time it's (if) released on global Oreo will be out so they will 1 year behind.

Turn A1 into Mi 5X or not?

I am about to receive my Mi A1. In general, I do prefer MIUI over plain stock Android (...yes, I know that is not that common ). So naturally, I am thinking about to directly flash the A1 into a Mi 5X.
What are your opinions? Anybody here who has done it? Bugs afterwards? OTA?
Not going to work... You could brick the device..
I hear somethink about differences in partitions so better just don't do that because you can REALLY brick your phone.
Mi A1 has A/B partition which allows seamless updates whereas Mi 5X has the normal single partition. I suggest you to wait for about a month. Xiaomi will release the kernel sources (hopefully) this month and developers will make a MIUI ROM. If you tried to flash the Mi 5X ROM, you will end up bricking your phone.

What happened to XDA and moderating team?

If you wanted MIUI, you should've gotten yourself a Mi 5X. What's this nonsense thing, flash A1 into Mi 5x? It won't work. Be prepared for trouble if you try to do so.
Wait for kernel sources to be available, development to swing in. There will be a number of custom ROMs including MIUI.

Please, before asking anything read and search, there are many many many threads about A1 vs 5X. If you want Miui just because of Miui and no other reason than I can't get it why you bought A1, 5X is in general cheaper then A1.
Can't wait for Xiaomi to release kernel sources and someone ports Miui so this can stop.

Project Treble & 2018 Xiaomi Flagships - Mi 7 & Mi Mix 2S.

Are you looking forward to the 2018 flagship phones from Xiaomi - Mi 7 & Mi Mix 2S, especially since Project Treble will allow for ease of custom rom development ?
I probably won't upgrade my MI6 to MI7 but for other reasons. I don't like capacitive buttons and fingerprint sensors to be desapeared from front side.
Project Trebble is a great idea and is mandatory from factory Oreo versions. It will be easer to upgrade Android versions, even with MIUI.
I'm not so sure about kernel sources liberating, we have to wait more every time a new smartphone has been released from Xiaomi. I hope dev work will be easer to do with Project Trebble, and we get more stable custom ROM's.

Well, mi6 is my last xiaomi phone.
Without kernel sources treble is not comprehensive resolution.
I will buy phone from company which provide better developer support. Probably OP but I will also take a look what Huawei will do

The development of roms for the Mi A2 is very bad, there is no ROM for the Mi A2 without being converted from Mi 6X.
Havoc OS will be updated or not ?
all of them stable?
Tried every single of them, all of them is stable, and daily driver material. As far as I know, there is no major bug in any of them. Currently I am on LOS 15.1 with latest gapps nano package.

Bootleggers ROM

Good night friends!
Why is the best ROM (BOOTLEGGERS) for Xiaomi Mi Note 2 not getting more updates?
This is without a doubt the best ROM for our MI NOTE 2.
I ask that the Developer scorpio continues with this project and update this ROM to Android 10
Forgive me for insisting, but this ROM is the best for MI NOTE 2
I would like scorpio to continue the project.
