For using nougat ROMs you must flash the stock nougat firmware (s223+). Then you have to flash the TWRP 64bit version as most of the custom ROMs are now arm64. Now you can install any nougat ROM to your phone.

I am using Resurrection remix. I have tried most of the ROMs available but i keep coming back to RR. The battery backup (with greenify + magisk) and performance is top notch. Give it a try.

[ROM] [DISCUSSION] Official Mokee Rom Releases [6.0.1] [GT-I9100]

First I want to say I didn't build this rom, or have anything to do with Mokee Open Source. Any bug reports or feature requests should be directed to Mokee developers.
I only started this thread to provide a link to the roms, as they are not available on xda until now, and a lot of users may not be aware they are still around.
Personally I have found this rom to be very stable, with some nice features.

Recommended Gapps
Open Gapps
Warning(particularly for MM builds): If you try to flash gapps, you will probably find it won't fit on the stock /system partition. In this case you will need to repatition - Repartitioning guide.
Make sure you choose a pit file that increases /system and not just /data(eg, I91001GB_4GB.pit)
Alternatively use Lanchon's re-pitting tool if you want to avoid losing your data
If you want to donate to Mokee and make their life a bit easier(donations will go towards bandwidth etc),
you can donate HERE
Instructions
1. Wipe data/factory reset(from KK compatible recovery)
2. Format /system
3. Flash rom
4. Flash gapps(optional)
5. Flash isorec recovery(for MM, see below), you only need to do this once
6. Reboot

Note: Now that Marshmallow(6.x.x) has been released, a warning for anyone flashing these latest nightlies. The kernel(isorec CM kernel) comes bundled with CM recovery, which is more or less useless. If you want a working recovery, you will need to flash the rom, followed by gapps(if you want play store), followed by an isorec recovery from HERE
Be sure to flash either CWM or TWRP for i9100. It is obvious from the name of the file.
And read about Isorec if you are not sure.
Thank you to @Troubadour666 for the Youtube review
Thank you @noppy22 for starting this thread. I had been downloading the ROM from G+ but the added benefit of a thread here on xda means that you have fellow S2 users to discuss problems etc with. Thank you again mate.

I've only run it with stock kernel. The only thing I changed(with Kernel Audiutor) was i/o scheduler to row. I suspect any cm12.1 compatible kernel will work. I might give one of Lanchons trim kernels a go in the next day or so
Edit: I tried the last trim/twrp kernel and got bootloop on 160102 build....

Well, no. The reports of freezing with his last release stopped me from trying that. BTW the GeneSys kernel(.tar) that was released is the same as the kernel in DU 9.8, but for me the DragonKernel I tried is the last "AOSP" kernel I found to be stable

It's basically Cyanogen 12.1 with a couple of extra features like wakelock blocker. My own opinion, I think it is a lot smoother than stock Cyanogen.
To correct my earlier post. I reflashed the Rom and flashed xposed during the flash process and it flashed without any problems.

Which should be the best (working) ROM for Samsung J5 (SM-J500f)?

I triedAOSP and Lineage OS. But both of them showed the fading and discoloration of the screen during boot, meaning that they were compatible. I am currently downloading the Stock firmware but would like to know whether there are any better ROMs out there than these.
Edit: The stock firmware is giving invalid zip error.

No, read OP, you need Lollypop firmware, just install 5.1 then install this Ron or any time that requires firmware 5.1
You also need recovery compatible with 5.1 like TWRP from Vince (OFFICIAL TWRP) you can download from TWRP site https://twrp.me/devices/j5lte.html
It all depends, if you want to have great camera or you are into taking pictures, never flash AOSP roms, because their camera is a loot worst compared to touchwiz camera (samsungs camera app is optimized like hell)
If you are curious and want to unveil your phone's power I suggest you AOSP/Lineage based ROMs.
Camera isn't enhanced as stock propietary crapwiz one, but works fine. If you love pictures, better you go with a pro Cybershot camera or similar.
I prefer paying the price of freedom and use free software than stay tied to proprietary closed source crapwiz.

Yup it almost works on all Samsung MM based Custom Roms or Ports like A5UX Rom , J2UX Rom etc.
Im also pretty keen to know what ROM you guys think is most suitable ? I am currently using stock 5.1.1 rom on J500F, anything better out there ? Would doing a factory reset on stock 5.1.1 and removing bloatware maybe be the best ? Not trying to hijack the thread but as mentioned im also looking for something as stable with less bloatware and better battery life. Thank You !

You can't get better battery life than stock lollipop + hard debloat, period.
Lollipop is the best for me, plus camera sucks on all custom roms
the smoothest rom is XeonHD , and AOSPextended both are extremely optimized except the camera is not that good , if you don't take pics often i suggest that you install either of them
AOSP-CAF based, are the goods. XenonHD is the better Lineage based rom. You have many options to choose one that fits your needs. Camera is fine, I don't complain about that, You should try to choose the better one that fits your needs.

@Ragazzza debloat zip is very nice if you're in stock. XenonHD satisfied me, very nice and smooth ROM. You should give a try to test by yourself. My better pictures I got with my Cybershot camera. Pictures are fine for daily use, and you have Vince's TWRP that works in lollipop and marshmallow, you choose the correct for your device. And from within TWRP you could debloat too, using the embedded explorer or flashing Ragazzza zip or whatever you want even with no root in your system.

Without twrp, better you try that no root debloat you show us before..
And if you follow correctly the steps to flash twrp, dont need to be afraid. Its from twrp that you could flash a debloater zip, for example, even without root...
You can stay with stock debloated, twrp and no root.
Hope you understand.

we are fortunate enough so, bootoader is not locked
to flash recovery boot into fastboot mode and have usb drivers and ADB installed readily place your phone in fastboot mode and make sure your recover is in the same folder where you have ADB, now press shift and right click select open command window here and type fastboot flash recover name_of_your recovery.img and do make sure your directory or folder name should not have spaces. eg c:\folder name/adb.... is not acceptable it should be c:\folder_name/adb....
if you face any problem feel free to ask or pm
happy flashing!

Yes! Its safe Zetsubou will give you enhanced performance and your battery life i.e S.o.t will decrease. With zetsubou you might get a bit heating issue as its over clocked for performance. I'm using stock for now.

Stock ROMs are best for people who are loyal to the handset manufacturers and are extremely cautious about security. But if you are someone who wants fast performance and customizations, then stock ROMs (except miui type ROMs) are no match to custom ROMs.

Disagree with this, anyone loyal to manufacturers ROM would not have bought an A1 with Android One, In the past I have spent ages changing ROM's or debloating to get a pure Android experience without manufacturers bloat. Anyone loyal to the manufacturers would have bought a MIUI based phone and not and Android One phone in the first place.
With the A1 you get that pure Android experience which for me is the best experience as the OP says.

i would recommend you this latest july stock rom -
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/development/rom-t3790268
first i flashed this via twrp ...
then i flashed beta magisk 16.7 by booting to twrp recovery img ...
then i flashed latest mourn kernel for stock.

best rom for zuk z2 plus according to me (after 1 year of custom roms experience)

Ok so guys I'm suggesting the most stable, bugless and sensible ROM according to me after trying tons of roms throughout a year ......
Thanks to our devs who are still providing their best to keep our device updated .... But the ROM that i think is most stable in every aspect is viper os 5.2 oreo ...... Just flash the rom with combination of bfr kernel and see the results for yourself ..... I personally don't want to use an oreo rom in the time of pie but for some reason pie roms are still not that amazing as oreo ROMs used to be .... Plus the battery backup can never be matched to oreo in pie ROMs for our device don't know why ......
So guys if you want a rom that is fast ,fluid , stable, able to play any game effortlessly just give this combo a try .... You'll be amazed .... It gives 5hrs sot very easily even with kind of heavy usage .....
Viper+bfr rocks.....
I would like to try the combo you described, can you post the link to the forum pages for the rom and kernel. Much appreciated
Here's the links .... And all the credits goes to the devs of the rom and the kernel .... I'm just an appreciater?

You can use migrate backup in any ROM of same version ( ex pie - pie) without any problem

Hey buddy,I wanna give ZUI 4.0.233 Oreo A Try.. Currently I'm In Viper Pie,Can I Simply Clean Flash The ZUI 4.0 With The Latest TWRP & Magisk Installed Already For Pie? Or Is There Any Additional Step To Follow? & Is Changing System Partition To EXT 4 Is Necessary? & Does It Will Format Internal Storage? Anything Like That? Asking Because Am Not Familiar With The Partitions? Thanks In Advance!!!
