Unless you have an unlocked bootloader there is nothing you can do about it unfortunately.

locked and unlocked bootloader

I wanna share my experience with my locked bootloader.
I tried once to unlock and install a "just 4 unlocked" rom (2 roms actually) but the radio system didn't work (no phone, no wifi, no gps).
I got back by flashtools, i installed a rom 4 locked rom and i tried once more to unlock the BL. I installed CM10.1 and now everything is working perfect!!!
I got just a question 4 you: why does some xperia z has the BL locked while others unlocked?

All Xperia Zs come locked from the factory. Most can be unlocked to flash custom roms. Some are permanently locked because their carriers are iffy (to put it nicely), but those are the minority.
Keep Questions in the Q/A section, not in General.
And No SONY device comes with locked Bootloader always. All are locked by default from the factory. Among which some can be unlocked and some can not because the Carrier.

Ok, but my gadget showed "no in Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status > Bootloader unlock allowed (and in the post about unlock BL they says that if it's "no" the device cannot be unlocked).
Thank you
PS: How can i move the 3d to Q/A ?
That is what I said.
All the Devices are locked bootloader by default.
Bootloader unlock allowed= Yes -- This means you can unlock the bootloader by following regular method.
Bootloader unlock allowed= NO -- This means you can not unlock the bootloader. Because of the Carrier issue i believe.

But mine showed Bootloader unlock allowed= NO but i was able to unlock it after 2 try. I think every one following my procedure might do it.

I think you will always have been able to unlock yours, you just didn't do it right the first time.
So are you saying you have a locked boatloader and can install. CM10????

did you root it and put a different ROM on there? the status might change say no but you can still unlock it. Simply put if first time you boot up your phone and it say Unlock bootloader = NO, then dont try to unlock it. When you root and flash a different rom that status might change to yes but in reality it still a NO

Eventually a right answer.
I was told the same. But i love to risk "playing" with my gadgets. So when i bought the xperia z through a carrier I saw the first time i boot up that the phone Unlock bootloader = NO (about 5 minutes after i bought it from the shop, so it was "original as the carrier made it).
I didn't care it and i tried to unlock. I installed a unlocked bootloader and rom and i had all that problems with the radio stuff . But the second time, after i recovered it by flashtool and a sw from sony (i don't remember the name) I was allowed to unlock it and install unlocked stuff. Now I am with Paranoid and I am so happy

same here... unlock it. install all the unlocked stuff. Radio might don't work. . Get ur phone back by flashtool and sony sw (i don't rememmber the name). The sony software will say u after a while u r not able to recover the phone cuz you are using some some software that is not sony. Don't worry and install another time a rom unbranded by flashtool.
now unlock the phone again and install everything u might like
There is only a problem with the twrp recovery, so use only the other one

Can anyone else confirm this?
Thanks!
Very interesting... Im waiting the confirmation from sony to pick up my phone without cost to change the fastboot to yes, but if this is true and someone else could confirm this method il do it tonight!!!!

I think if you want others to try what you've done, (and it is interesting if we can unlock bootloaders this way)
then you may want to highlight which steps you did in more detail.
Which roms did you try to flash that resorted in no radio functions?
which rom did you try to flash with flashtool? which version of flashtool as well?
Did you do anything else?
I somehow doubt engineers would make an oversight as big as this one.
But fingers crossed nevertheless.
+1 for a detailed description of the steps you took. This could be huge!

Indeed, this move would make the XZ much more attractive for buyers which have the bootloader locked from the carrier.

First, if you already had an unlocked phone, why would you do this?
Second, there are several warnings about this not working and possibly even screwing up phones. If you would have read, you would have seen them. Trying anything without first reading is your own fault. The OPs of these "unlock for free" threads should be shot for not putting HUGE disclaimers up about the possibility this could screw your phone up but it is still your responsibility.
And third, you are probably screwed. The people that I have seen this happen to have not been able to unlock their phone with any method or code. Though, you could always try.
Unlocked already, and you tried to see if something else would unlock..hmmm WHY?
Are you just doing things to just do them? I am confused.

[Q] How to unlock a bootloader if possible? (N900A)

Heya, I'm very new in the vast world of Android rooting and flashing and I've run into yet another problem trying to flash my N900A Note 3 variant. I finally got it SIM unlocked and rooted and just when I'm getting ready to flash I see something about bootloaders. I don't know how to check to see if it's locked but I'm more than certain it is. So, is there anyway to unlock the bootloader? I see people saying it can't be unlocked yet I see guides for unlocking them so really all I'm looking for is a straight answer.
And if I understand it right, Safestrap isn't something I want to do if it's not the 'real' thing, so if it can't be unlocked then I'll be looking into another phone. If I do, would it be better to get another Note 3 variant or the Sony Xperia z1s?
Thanks in advance.

AT&T models are locked at the bootloader, and there's no way to unlock them.
I have similar question....I have 9005 version and want to put new bootloader.....I put new NF2 modem and now i want to put NF4 bootloader....
Is it enough just to instal it through odin?
(Searched for instructions but couldn't find it.....)
Thanks....

Okay, I have a few questions on this subject.
Safestrap is a work-around a locked bootloader right? If I use it to flash a rom would there be that much of a difference?
If using safestrap pretty much the same thing then why do people still prefer to have unlocked bootloader?
Because I see guides to unlocking bootloaders, does this mean that it's just AT&T that won't let us unlock this phone version?
Sorry for the questions, I just want this stuff cleared up.

You can't change the kernel if your bootloader is locked, so safestrap only works with TW-based ROMs -- no cyanogenmod our other AOSP variants.
AT&T is one of the carriers that forces the OEMs to lock the bootloader. I believe Verizon is another one. No other carrier seems to care, or have enough power over the OEMs to force this.

LG G5 H831 Root?

Hi guys,
just bought my H831 tonight, and I'm wondering about rooting/ custom roms, and if it is a thing for this model yet. I tried to follow LG's bootloader unlock process, but i keep coming up with no adb devices, and no matter what drivers i try, i can't get it to show up, if anyone has suggestions, please let me know. As for the rest, anyone have good suggestions for custom roms? just got into the scene with this phone and I have no idea whats happening.
Thanks

There is no root or bootloader unlock for h831, the official unlock method is available only for european h850s, tot method with root and twrp si only available for H830.
Welp. As always, before buying a device, check if there's root or roms available, not after.

Nobody knows nothing, atm there are no dev that are working on obtaining root on other models afaik
Well ****, I miss root, but SafetyNet's been a major pain in the ass as of late, so now my h831 stays stock. Better than an iphone though.

Lg stylo 3 m430 cricket

Isnt any threads on this device.
Figured Id start one.
At first glances. No root. Oem u lock is in dev options. No fastboot does have dl mode. I doubt root will come anytime soon.
I do really like this device. I have averaged 6 to 8 hours of sot time
Been attempting to pull a stock image for restores with lgup and flashtool
So everyone knows the cricket version is downgraded. Only has a 1.4 ghrtz quadcore i stead of the. Octacore. And only 2 gb of ram verus the 3 i see everywhere else.
Camera reminds me of the g2s
Kingo kingroot and all the one clicks dont work. Next will be zeroing the laf to see if i get fastboot. The no root debloater app doesnt work on this device either. So finding root is a must.
Im assuming as owning many lg phones the bootloader is not locked but signed so without the signing key and a modified laf partition to enable fastboot with accepted unlock commands or an engineering bootloader
Unlock will be highly inprobable for some time. Or unless a exploit such as bump or loki or something very similar
Just got this phone 2 days ago and it's pretty snappy and I am quite pleased with it honestly. The fingerprint scanner was the selling point... And price lol. With root this device would be no doubt a beast.

thats funny my finger print scanner has yet to reconize my finger i registered both my pointer fingers twice and still nothing.im a mechanic so my prints are pretty trashed but i tried for like 4 or 5 hours and just switched it back.
all im waiting for is a stock firmware as of rite now no atni roll back is implented or 0. so first firmwares usually is first rooted or moded takes a load of messing with laf and recovery partitions

ive been all over it trying and trying ive started looking into other lg methods with locked bootloaders and nougat
the v20 just got nougat to so hopefully between the g6 and v20 root methods that may come to be we can adapt one to us
sucks the old root injection throws secure bot cause nougatchecks system to see if modified its gonna be mnore of a systemless root from what i see and know
The v20 uses the dirty santa exploit to obtain root.
The LG G6 doesn't have root yet.
If the bootloader is signed, Safestrap is how we got around it on AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 3 n900a. Still have to have root first tho.
It looks like boost, cricket, T-Mobile, Straight Talk all have the LG Stylo 3 so far. So alot of people will own these because their cheap.
I'd like to get one myself but without root and ROMs no thanks.
Help
Has anyone found a solution to the root of a lg m430 yet???
Off thread device;
Anyone currently looking into the Stylo 3 straight talk bootloader unlock? (Does it just come down to lg bridge recognizing the device?)

Please excuse me if this is a silly question. What would running "fastboot oem unlock" do, if anything, to this model? Apparently, unlocking the bootloader on the LG Stylo 3 Plus is this simple (assuming OEM unlock is turned on in dev options, of course). I realize the non-plus model is different, and Cricket's LG-M430 even more so, but has anyone tried running this command and can confirm it doesn't work? I wonder why LG would freely allow the Plus to be unlocked, but not this model...Perhaps Cricket had some say in this?
Also, (another noob question) am I correct in thinking that rooting without first unlocking the bootloader will NOT trigger some unwanted mechanism of the bootloader? From what I've read, a locked bootloader only verifies the integrity of the kernel and recovery, and will not check for "illegal" root access. Are there any built in mechanics that check for root? I ask out of curiosity, as I am aware there are currently no root exploits for this phone. It seems like you all agree unlocking the bootloader is the most logical first step. Is there any benefit to figuring this out first over trying to simply root the device? Thanks in advance. I'm very interested in understanding all this, and am hopeful that I'll be able to somehow contribute in getting this model rooted.

The way that they locked the bootloader prevents you from getting anywhere close to fastboot. LG has this locked down severely.
