Remove 'Unlocked Bootloader' from start up. - Huawei P10 Lite Questions & Answers

Hi, I first unlocked the bootloader and then rooted it. Is there a way to remove the 'Unlocked Bootloader' notice from the boot screen?
Also does enabling 'double tap to wake' use up a lot of battery?
Thanks very much.

double tap to wake -dont work on all P10

Thanks for your reply.
I was wondering though if it did work is it a battery drainer?

If it's anything like my current phone (Moto G 2014), there is an image stored in a specific partition (in this specific instance "/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/logo") that needs to be replaced with an equivalent image that doesn't have the message (I have a small recovery-flashable file to do this on my Moto).
I assume that there is an equivalent mechanism to do this on the P10 Lite - I may be buying one soon so will be looking at doing the same thing once it has been rooted.
Sorry I can't be of any more help...

[WARNING] Do NOT lock your bootloader when on Android 5.1

The new Device Protection features of Android 5.1 on the Nexus 9 and Nexus 6 can, in certain cases, cause you to have a bootloader which can not be unlocked.
Please have a read of the following links:
https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/6172890?hl=en

What a pita
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
i would never relock my bootloader
people unlock there bootloader for a reason
but to relock it after thats just wrong...
thats one of the things i hate about CM
they recommend you to relock your bootloader...
Agreed, why would you lock your bootloader unless sending in for repairs maybe?
But Google is really messing up the flow. The nexus 6 5.1 OTA is a mess right now but I will leave that for another thread.
Android 5.1 for Nexus 9? You must be joking.
So, I just purchased a Nexus 9 via the 4-hour online-only sale at Best Buy. It was $100 off, couldn't pass it up. My question is: is this likely going to be shipped in such a condition as to prevent me from permanently unlocking the bootloader? Or is a permanent lock something one must deliberately do?

No no you can still unlock it
But if you relock it that's the problem

As USBhost said, you'll be able to unlock it. However, when you are first setting it up and are running through the set-up wizard, there will be an option to "Protect Device" or something like that. If you enable it, and re-lock the bootloader, it will put you in a situation where you can only unlock the booloader in certain situations -- and if you happen to have a bootloop with a locked bootloader, that's when you are in trouble.
EDIT: On Nexus devices, I personally unlock the bootloader as soon as I take it out of the box, without first booting into Android, and then leave it unlocked. But of course, you give up some security by doing that.

Thanks, guys! Glad I stumbled across this thread before the thing arrived.
Locking the bootloader doesn't protect you from anything. If the device leaves your physical control in a potentially hostile environment, whatever is on the system or boot partition becomes suspect, regardless of whether the bootloader is locked or unlocked.

Example: I have a device running a stock ROM with no encryption, the stock recovery and a lock screen password. I happen to lose my phone. What happens to the photos of me dancing to Old Time Rock & Roll in my underwear that are stored on the device? If the bootloader is unlocked, someone just plugs it into a PC, boots TWRP and pulls them off. If the bootloader is locked, there is no easy way to see or get the photos off the device.
That is all I was saying about security. Nothing to do with you leaving your device somewhere or losing it, and then finding it again. Strictly about the personal content on the device.

I thought Lollipop always requires you to go in and check the Enable OEM Unlock box? Or is that not true if you never booted into Android even once?

If you have never booted into Android, then you don't need to check that setting. As I said, that's the way I did it on my N6: take out of box -> charge -> boot directly into bootloader -> "fastboot oem unlock". No other steps required if you don't boot into Android first.

Yes, that should work for the N9 as well.
The bootloader on my Nexus 9 Android 5.1.1 is locked forever due to my mistake
Short backstory:
- I wanted to install the Android M developer Preview for the Nexus 9 but I forgot to check "Enable OEM unlock" in developer options (worst mistake).
- I used adb command to flash the new image but failed somehow
- I carelessly type # fastboot oem lock
- I tried to factory reset from bootloader to bring it back to Stock. Now it couldn't factory reset and my Nexus 9 hangs in a nice boot loop.
- I try # fastboot oem unlock but failed with permission denied error
I tried some ways to save my device but no hopes
- I used Nexus Root Tookit to unlock bootloader or restore image with force mode but failed,
- I follow instruction in HTC dev forum to get identifier token in order to receive your unlock code binary file but failed
- Unluckily, I don't installed any custom recovery.
Please help if you know a way unlock the bootloader or flash the factory ROM to save the nexus 9

Not possible. You will have to return it to HTC for repair or replacement.

Yes, I forgot to check the box to allow oem UNLOCK. And now my device is locked forever.
A quick question: A lot of N9 ROMs require flashing an updated bootloader from the factory image. Aren't these bootloaders locked by default? Can we flash a factory bootloader over a custom ROM?
It seems that we might bork our Nexus 9s if we flash a locked bootloader in.

Urgent help needed. Locked out of phone.

I was poking security options within my phone, and I accidentally locked it with a pattern that I cannot recall.
I tried looking for troubleshooting guides, but unfortunately Marshmallow no longer has a "forgot code?" option. Also, I tried Android Device Manager, but it tells me since my phone already has a lockscreen, I no longer need to add a password (which I intended to do, in order to know said password)
I would greatly appreciate any help, since I really don't want to factory reset, since I got lots of pics I don't want to lose.

Unfortunately, my phone is stock and non rooted, but luckily I could guess the pattern.
I still would like to know for future reference, since Android Device Manager did a great job at getting my phone's location and making it ring... just not unlocking it!!

He wouldn't have been able to use it because you need a custom recovery to flash that file.
Well... I guess you know the system works? Probably not great for there to be an easy or sure-fire way to unlock a phone if you don't know the security details.
If it's just data you need, recovery mode should allow you to copy it off the device via USB (if you didnt encrypt the device). Getting into a phone you really locked yourself out of is probably not possible.

For preventative measures, Tasker is your friend. Have a "Plan B" microSD with a special .txt file on it, and have Tasker detect SD inserted and scan that file. If the file matches, then Tasker should wipe /data/system/gesture.key and password.key, and sqlite3 into settings.db and "update system set value=0 where name='lock_pattern_autolock' " to unlock your device.
In the case of an aftermath, it is now (as of today) possible to recover files/photos from the lockscreen without root, ADB, or custom recovery. Just an internet connection, linked Google account, and access to the notification drawer. I just published my first app, Locked-out Phone Backup, that is similar to the old Screen Lock Bypass Pro for Gingerbread, but instead recovers files instead of disabling the screen lock, so no root is required!
Hope this answers your question!
Well, try some password remover.

Recover Photos, Broken Screen or Forgotten Passcode

Hi, I've got 2 phones I want to get the photos off.
An S7 Edge with a broken LCD (can't see anything)
An S6 with a forgotten passcode.
What would you guys suggest? I toyed around with a trial of dr.phone and was able to preview photos on the S6, but I would prefer to find a free way. And dr.phone & fonepaw do not support the s7 edge.
Would a custom recovery like TWRP work? or does that require full access to the phone? (ie turn on debug mode etc)
Thanks in advance?
Abut the S6EDGE I can give you a suggest
Unlock your bootloader first(Require remove the Google/Samsung account,if you login these account your phone before, this way is didnt work)
secound flash the twrp, then you mount your phone and copy photos out to your pc.
Another way:You can contact with some Shenzhen(China) company, they have a lots of way to unlock your phone.hahahahaha

Thanks for the reply. So to flash TWRP I need to unlock the bootloader first? Is this something I can do without the passcode? I did a quick google, and it said the option is under the developer options menu.

enter the twrp and mount it,done!

[solved] is it possible to remove screen unlock pattern (fingerprint works)?

Hi,
I've just set up my Axon7 from scratch, after it returns from service, and set up new unlock pattern. I admit, I must've been drunk or something, because can't remember the pattern itself. Currently I unlock the phone with fingerprint sensor.
Is it possible to change/remove the unlock method without factory reset? As I said, the phone reads my fingerpritnts fine.
Thank's for any advice
1. Boot to TWRP
2. In File Manager go to the /data/system folder. Scroll down and find the two files with the .key extension. Delete both of them (by tapping on the file and then tapping the <Delete> button). Then, delete all the files containing the word locksettings:
gatekeeper.password.key
gatekeeper.pattern.key
locksettings.db
locksettings.db-shm
locksettings.db-wal
3. Reboot system.

besides from that, the user above is right, you just have to do that
Thank you very much, for your advice.
Unfortunately I haven't rooted my phone yet, and after lecture of few tutorials I'm slightly intimidated, so...
Is it possible to do something with my problem without rooting, instaling custom recovery etc?
I could even accept factory reset, after all, but it asks for unlock pattern as well...

No man, without your bootloader unlocked there's not much you can do, unlock bootloader then install twrp and you'll be good to go
I made some digging, and found solution: Power on+vol up allowed factory reset, problem is solved.
Thank you all for your help.

Beginner Tutorial - Unlock Bootloader + TWRP + Root

Hi everyone, I just want to share this tutorial for someone like me (NEWBIE, NOOB, BEGINNER, ZERO KNOWLEDGE).
ALL CREDITS TO THE RIGHTFUL OWNER.
PRE-REQUISITES
- Laptop
- Applications, .img files (https://mega.nz/file/igphSCTD#OybJo9t1zwvJ0bdbAcN2BCqxWXAfHdhk3JFB4_5xkVc)
- Your Nubia Phone
ENSURE THAT:
- You installed the application and driver (Minimal ADB and Fastboot & the driver from your Nubia phone).
- You updated your OS in the latest version.
- You UNLOCK the developer option (setting>>about phone>>tap 7x the build number) and you switch ON the OEM unlocking & USB Debugging.
- You approved the RSA request in your RM5G
NUBIA RED MAGIC 5G UNLOCK BOOTLOADER
1. Connect your Nubia in laptop, in your laptop, open Minimal ADB and Fastboot and type the following:
a. adb reboot bootloader
b. fastboot oem nubia_unlock NUBIA_NX659J
c. fastboot flash recovery recovery-TWRP-3.4.1B-0324-NUBIA_REDMAGIC_5G-CN-wzsx150.img
d. fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta_BL_skip.img
e. fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
f. fastboot flash parameter parameter.img
2. Go to your RM5G, select reboot to recovery
3. It will reboot in TWRP twice, in the 2nd reboot it will stay in TWRP, change the language to English and select the keep read only.
4. Go to WIPE option, then select FORMAT DATA, type yes
5. Press home button, then go to REBOOT, select REBOOT to RECOVERY
NUBIA RED MAGIC 5G ROOTING PROCEDURE
6. Go to ADVANCED, below there are list, select INSTALL ROOT.
7. Reboot your RM5G.
At first, my RM5G restart twice, I was afraid that it was bootloop, the 3rd boots, it booted up and its rooted already.
Also, when I first registered my Finger Print, it’s malfunctioning, so I just deleted the OLD FP , register NEW FP and it works like a charm.
Now, I managed to flash the wonderful kernel of @mslezak.

Note for those that don't know how to enable developer options - go to settings, about phone, click build number 7x. It should take you right to the Developer Options menu. Nice clear concise guide by the way! Glad someone wrote a simpler one than the one I wrote initially, only so many hours in the day.

Thanks for mentioning the dev. option. All credit to all of you guys who made this possible.
I've been trying for days to download the MEGA zip, but no matter what I do it always stays on 0% and gives me an error. I tried on different browsers, on different computers, and using the desktop app, I even tried with the mobile app with no luck. Could someone please share a mirror or another link, please?
Nevermind, I was finally able to download the file, my solution was to use chrome instead of firefox and close every window except the mega one... I left it like that for a couple of hours and it finally downloaded it.
Possibly a stupid question, but are there any downsides to this other than the risk of bricking?

You can hide the Magisk (setting/select the apps/then hide magisk) so it will not detect that you are rooted.

Hi,
