Problems with Notifications - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello,
Since yesterday, I am confronted with a little worry. Application notifications do not fade, even when they have all been read.
The number on the application does not disappear even after reading
An idea about this worry?
Thank you

The problem appears as of version 5.5 beta 4 and 5 of Nova Launcher

No notification digits of unanswered calls on green dialer icon - galaxy note3

Hi there everybody.
After upgrade of my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Phone , model SM-N9005 to Lollipop 5.0 I lost notification of unaswered calls (red digits on green dialer icon on main screen). I can notify the only phone symbol on the top of the screen. It's very uncomfortable if I cannot notice unanswered calls. How to fix this problem.
regards Maciek
I will get 'badges' on icons but only if the icons are not in the dock.
Update: That's not correct. I get badges on Samsung's apps like Phone and Messages but no badge will appear on Google's Gmail app.

Do you use any third party launchers?
No I don't use any third party launchers. The only thing I did was upgrade from KK to Lollipop 5.0 OTA (over the air- factory)

You should get nova or another similar. Tw launcher is crap, how can you live with it in 2015.
did you disable or freeze "GlanceViewMK" by any chance?
or removed Notification reading access for it???
I didn't disable this optioin, when I found it , it was disabled, but enable it - doesn't help, no notification of unanswered call on dialer green icon again.
The other anwer for kenny1991 - "You should get nova or another similar. Tw launcher is crap, how can you live with it in 2015. "
Why use nova or similiar launcher when facory dialer was working quite good with KK 4.4

Nova (And Apex) are Launchers. Not Dialers. The notification badge is a Launcher feature, not a Dialer feature.
Did you reboot after re-enabling Glanceview?
Yes , I did reboot, didn't help
I've noticed that when somebody calls me , the camera lamp blinks . I found the new lollipop option and I turned it off but why after upgrade this option was on without my agreement? Maybe is something in the system options about these lost digits on dialer icon? I cannot find anything in google.

Just got the mate 8 but having some problems

Hi everyone, so today I got the mate 8 but I'm having some problems, when I open certain apps sometimes the brightness changes, I don't have auto brightness on.
Especially when I open Google Chrome and Gmail it always changes, it gets dimmer.
I have the Chinese version and no rom, I just changed the system language and installed the play store. It would also appear that I don't receive notifications from Gmail unless I open the app.
On top of that even though I set Nova as default launcher every once in a while(which is sometimes very often sometimes it doesn't happen for one hourish) it'll go back to the default launcher; I keep going into settings and set nova as default but for some reason it doesn't work permanently.
If anyone could help me with these things I'll really be extremely grateful thank you!

This is by design. If you use Performance CPU profile it's a bit less but still there.
If you're going to root the device at one time simply install Lux and the issue is totally gone :good:
Thank you very much, would you happen to know about the launcher issue as well by any chance?

Oreo 8.0 Beta Experiences So Far

As many know the beta went live for Sprint, Unlocked, and T-Mobile customers earlier today so I thought (since I didn't see one posted already) that a thread of our experiences with it so far would be nice to have.
So far here is a list of bugs some comments have posted in this thread:
Laggier than Nougat
Live Messages force close
Adhell2 frequent force closes
Bluetooth fails to turn on until reboot
Random reboots
Personally, it feels snappier in nearly all operations when using Nova Launcher Prime, but it's when I switched back to TouchWiz that I've noticed that it feels much more responsive than it did before. It feels much better.now and I'm going to use Touchwiz for a few days and see if it's worth using now.
The one area I was really hoping that would have seen an improvement would be swiling to the right for Bixby, which feels worse now somehow. While Bixby seems a little better when activating with voice, and the new interface for Bixby home does look nicer (personal opinion, obviously) the actually swiping is still a slow mess.

its kinda laggy. lots of apps have been force closing. battery life has been pretty good tho
Keep getting an app called mobile downloader in notification panel up to the left, can't clear it can only snooze it, wtf, I like a tidy left notification panel especially on the left
Sent from my SM-G955U using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I got this also on sprint, I just forced closed it. Comes back with a reboot but whatever, the notification is gone
I like a tidy notification panel/Status bar as well and I'm now noticing more than usual notifications that I don't like:
"so and so app is running in the background" and I can't disable it. That's annoying.

I'm on T-Mobile. You may need to do a cache clear and reboot it. I know that can clear up lag after an update sometimes. Always worth a shot if you haven't already.

It's stable, has silly bugs but on a whole it's much to do about nothing.
It's not a case of Samsung at all, it's android itself. Google just don't bring much to the table anymore
samsung keyboard forced closed but came back in a reboot, usually use gboard though, so im going back to that
I have been running 8.0 Beta 1 for about 8 hours now, and have also reverted back to TouchWiz from Nova so I can view the full experience. So far, everything is faster. No issues with any content or apps already loaded from 7. I have only noticed one small, split-second glitch so far, and that was an animation delay returning to the Home screen from using an app. 30 apps sitting in Recents right now, so could have happened just the same on 7. Regardless, I am completely content, and have already forgotten that were talking about a beta, let alone Beta 1. Surprisingly good job Samsung, and I'm still in shock that we even have Oreo already, to be honest... Looking forward to further testing and the finished release.
My S8 is my only cellphone phone , I consider myself a Android enthusiasts. I love tweaking settings.and I'm always on my phone. Do you think the beta is stable enough ? to install theOreo beta i have already downloaded it I just want to see, if the apps are closing , crashing, buggy ,rebooting ect. The occasional hiccup will be no big deal thanks in advance for your response
Does anyone else's Live Messages force close while using the messaging app? I ask because I previously installed the Note 8 Live Messages mod before I installed the Oreo Update and I'm not sure if that may be the reason why it is now force closing.

Personally it has been snappier with no app crashes. I have had Facebook crash and some other app I don't remember, but it was something else I had installed and not a major component and it has only been once for both, but Facebook had issues all week since I re-enabled it. It has just now been working better (POS app anyway.)
That and the annoying to me notification panel are the only things. No bugs, lag, etc but I can't speak on battery yet... So far it seems in line, but I don't really know until tomorrow.

No problems with Messages here, but I haven't modded it from the Note app so I dunno, and this version doesn't have the Live messages feature still, so I'm going to guess that might be the issue there.

thought poweramp was not working, turns out it had lost my music folder on the sd card and I had to point it at it again.
How is the battery life?
I have been experiencing the same issue. Whenever I select it on the keyboard the message "Live Messenger has closed" appears and the phone just vibrates on me. I tried a reboot to get it to work and still no change. I am also constantly getting "New Messaging Features" appearing in my message bar, over and over and when I click "Start" I do not get the code and get it completely registered. Not sure if that is adding to the issue as well.

Huawei Nova 3i

Hello,
Just bought new Nova 3i, 128 Storage 4 gb ram.
I don't like the soft vibrate, When a call is coming it vibrates softly. I missed or late responding many messages.
The notch is annoying
The notifications are not appearing on the top bar like Marsmellow version is.
Is there any tricks to solve above concerns?
Or can I downgrade to lower OS or UI?

i know this is late reply.
to enable the notification icons simple go to Settings>Apps & Notifications>Notification Method>Icons or Numbers
Numbers - sums up the total number of notification (this is better since you will know how many notifications are, since in Icons there will be no enough space for the other icons)
Icons - shows the icon of the app that has notification
cant downgrade since android 8.1 is the default OS at launch.

No it is not late
I am a ols fashion individual, prefer to have icons as notification. Number works well I need to used to it.
Is it because of the notch?
Soft Vibration issue, it can't be adjusted ya? I need stronger vinrarion. Because it is hardware, i tried to install vibration apps, but the it still very soft.
So that's why i was asking downgrade possibility.
Or may be there is a launcher or UI i can use? (htc sense, miui,....)
Here is my notif bar
It is only fit woth 4 icons. While I have plenty notification

Any way to keep notifications on lockscreen?

Hi everyone!
So, I recently got a Mi 9T.
I really like the device itself, but not having used MIUI in a few years, there's something that is really making me angry, to the point where I'm considering sending the device back and getting a refund: the way notifications are handled on the lock screen.
Basically, the problem is this: when you recieve a new notification, it only shows on the lockscreen ONE TIME. After that, if you turn the screen off and back on again, even if you didn't dismiss the notificaiton it disappears from the lockscreen. You have to unlock the phone and open the notification shade to read the pending notifications.
This is not how stock Android behaves, and is very annoying because I keep forgetting I have unanswered emails/messages/etc, since I don't see them "at a glance" when I turn on the screen without unlocking the device.
Is there any way to fix this?
If there isn't, does anyone know of any alternative solution? Maybe a third party app? At least a way to see that there are active notifications, maybe via an icon in the statusbar or something?
Ok, after some searching I've found that this Xposed module should have this feature: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-customiuizer-customize-miui-rom-t3910732
Now all we need is a way to root the device so we can install Xposed/EdXposed. Has anyone tested magisk/root yet?
On my previous mobiles, I've been using a combo nova/missedit
Nova folder, transparent icon with links to phone, messages, WhatsApp,WeChat, slack... Inside, with badges active. Any notification is shown only when present. Touch, open folder, touch open app. Fast and nice.
Missed it can be configured to show anything you want
But both are not working properly with t9. Bought Wednesday, not much testing still, but some annoyances found, like that.
Lock screen is just detected, I didn't noticed it until now. But may be dangerous.
And also, notification led (I love those things) does nothing but charge... And noled app doesn't works

LED is working for me with notifications (tested with WhatsApp).
Thanks for your suggestions, but from what I read it seems that those apps are for missed notification badges? I'm talking about notifications on lockscreen, that disappear after they've been shown once.
But the mod I've linked above seems to have the solution, just need to find a root method (there's a TWRP available, but not official, don't know if Magisk works on it or not, will test this weekend if I can).

ok, i understand your problem.
but for me is also logic to not keep same notification on lock screen always, even after you unlock and lock phone back.
there are up in notification bar, icons, or badges on icons in home screen, and they saty until you dismiss them from notification bar.

Different people use their phone differently.
Personally, I use notifications as reminders. For example: if I get an email that I can't reply to immediately I do not dismiss the notification, so when I turn on the display, maybe even hours later, I immediately see the notification and I am reminded to reply.
Note also that this is how notifications work in stock android, so MIUI should at least give the option imho.
yes i understand you. but this is not stock android.
and if you dont dismiss notification in notification panel, when you swipe down, this notification icon will remain there until you dismiss her. so lets say, this morning i receive email, and it was on my lock screen. i unlock phone, and use what i wanted, but didnt watch email. in notification bar i have icon that there is email, and on app icon i have notification number. so this notifications number and icon in notification bar will stay all the time i dismiss notification when i pull down notification panel. i hope you understand. so if you watch on app icon of email you will know you have email as there is notification number, and up in bar you will have also notification that you have message. It is that what you said notification shade.
dont be upset, just say that it is not exactly true that after unlock you lose remainder that you receive email or message.

That's very interesting... is this a XiaomiEU feature or has it been added in stock MIUI beta? (XiaomiEU builds are based on MIUI beta if I recall correctly).
Anyway, I can confirm that I've been using the Xposed module "custoMIUIzer" on my 9T and it works perfectly, it has a fix for this problem (and tons of other customizations)
