Oxygen OS Beta 25 (Android 8.0 Oreo) image without firmware, without troubles ;) - OnePlus 3T Guides, News, & Discussion

ups wrong sub forum was meht for OP 3 not 3t

DavidXanatos said:
After browsing through the new Oreo threads, there were again a lot of users with issues related to new bootlaoder and firmware.
So to avoid that I tried installing the new Beta 25 without any firmware files only updating system and boot, and that seam to work just fine.
It was the same with back than fron android MM to N.
To install the image you need the new TWRP linked here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74154185&postcount=37
But its enough to boot the new TWRP with fastboot it does nto have to be flashed.
Here is the Oxygen OS Beta 25 zip without firmware: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=962021903579485163

Hey Mate
OB 25 is only for OP3
I guess you are in the wrong thread
we have OB 16 3T
thanks

The beta 25 is only for OP3, not fot 3T, DO NOT FLASH IT ON A 3T OR YOU WILL GET A BRICK

This still encrypts the data and trigger DM-Verity right ???

Out of curiosity since this is my first OP device--do we still get OTA's if we're rooted/bootloader unlocked? Want to avoid a full wipe if possible.

I'm thinking that you'll only get the OTA installed if you haven't replaced stock recovery with TWRP (or any custom recovery). You might get/receive the OTA, which might be installable from TWRP (I don't know that for all cases). I would think that the best bet is to grab the OTA file wherever it goes (different on different phones, but somewhere in a manufacturer designated tree, like Samsung would be /data/fota) and save it off somewhere where it's not going to vanish on the next boot because you don't have stock recovery.
I could be off about some of those details. Chainfire of SuperSU wrote something, I think called Flashfire, that can install OTA's while rooted without losing a beat supposedly. I don't have it, and would need to read up on it.
Other ways would be to fastboot flash stock recovery when you expect an OTA and want it. I don't think you necessarily have to worry about being wiped (your own data) by most OTAs. I keep thinking that one of the points in unlocking and rooting and putting on your custom recovery is to be in control of your phone, so that stuff like OTAs that haven't really been well tested don't come along and screw things up. Wait a week, then someone around here will have put up a .zip version installable via TWRP. Also there's a benefit in having a thread of people installing an OTA that way because you don't have to be a solitary guinea pig.
Last thing: OTA location on a oneplus 3 appears to be : /sdcard/Android/data/com.oneplus.ota/files/.OnePlusOta (last one is a hidden folder, so use root explorer or some such thing).

With the last OTA coming just a couple of days ago, I think we won't get any Nougat until at least the end of the month.

I just got my phone in India. Pre ordered it via Amazon Prime. No update on ota. For those who wants to know you can root and still install ota updates via twrp. Oneplus is a company which had supported rooting devices. You don't loose warranty on the phone even if you root but if you brick the phone they charge a small amount to bring it back to life. Atleast that was the case when I had used oneplus one and afaik that isn't changed which is good to see.
S6 and S7 edge in between oneplus one and oneplus 3t. Happy to use 3T.

I think you're in the wrong thread.
The article did not reference any official source that said 15th December, not sure why the excitement.
Also they did miswrite few things (regarding the matching update schedule, which will actually start with Nougat).

I remember seeing oneplus post on Facebook that the update would come on the 15th but it's no longer listed on their page. Would rather wait for them to get it right though

ETA is a nice thing, but better none and finished product than releasing unfinished on time or just overshooting it.
I'll credit to Oneplus for releasing late & it being highly optimised, than early and still buggy .....I'm sure it's not far away though......?

Where can I get CM13

Hi all, I just have a quick one for you guys. Does anyone have an archive of CM13 preferably the last release which should be the most stale, for our OP2. I need it to get Kali nethunter working on the OP2 for work. I can only get CM14.1 but nethunter doesn't work with that yet. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks :highfive:

One last question guys, is it ok to straight up flash CM13 over OOS 3.5.6. Phone is fully stock but I'll be unlocking my bootloader and flashing twrp later today.
Uhh AFAIK you will need to rollback to 3.10 because the newer OOS has different modem firmware. So if you flash cm13 over the newer one I'm pretty sure you will lose sim2 and possibly have other network issues.

Thought so, thanks for confirming, looks like it will be a long revert, unlocking bootloader, getting the OOS revert edition then OOS 3.10 then CM13. Ah well such is the life of a flashaholic.
Indeed, good luck then

It's probably best to rebuild cm/lineage13 yourself (tell your company that you need a machine suitable for building android). Like that you can have the newest vendor blobs (by extracting them from official 3.6.1 zip/image) and even adjust the system specifically for your needs. Also, rom would be up to date (not sure if you have to implement newest security patches by yourself)
If you need an updated Lineage13 device tree/help for building (after you used google obviously) tell me.

OnePlus 6t Android 10 magisk + twrp

I just upgraded to Android 10 on my OnePlus 6t, by which I lost magisk + twrp
Can anyone tell me how to get them in Android 10
-Thanks
Same here.
Installed the Magisk app and it does not flash the zip.
I Always get a error message
Hi all. I'm running stock OTA 10 and am unable to flash twrp (compatibility issues with android 10 as I understand). When on OOS 9.0.17 i wanted to try android 10 and when I realized twrp is not an easy option anymore I wanted to simply downgrade as I have done with op 6t as well as lots of other android devices. And that too is somehow a problem at android 10..? Is really my best option to simply wait for twrp solution to be developed or is there another (relatively simple and safe) way to get it either rolled back to pie or get 10 rooted?
thanks for your time

Update delay on Oneplus 8T

I don't know what's happening exactly with oneplus that is have this type of delay with the monthly updates and security patches with the Serie 8, I don't want to install a custom room but it looks like i will be force to do so due to the lack of updates from oneplus, hope that oneplus do something for the community who like Oxygen OS.
IDK what you're talking about. There was an update 2 weeks ago.
Yes but it was a beta one no a stable one....

Oneplus provides updates for 8T bimonthly, so it's useless to wait for them every month.

I have been on build 11.0.11.13.KB09CB for the last 3-4 weeks I keep looking on OnePlus Updates but it seems the updates they show me are older. Am I missing something?? Am I on the latest update?
I also received my unlock token today, all the different threads to root are confusing, twrp, broken twrp. boot only, flash it, magisk, only use your own boot img, do use don't use magisk canary, flash EU, don't flash EU flash Global etc.....can you point me in the right direction on that? Thanks in advance

How do I remove the warning that the Bootloader was unlocked?

Any help or link would be much appreciated. I'm unable to find a guide specific to the device despite some ecosiaing. Sorry for the bother.

Hello, I'm sorry if this is a "noobs question", but I cannot find any solution to this by myself. YouTube gave me no hits and (maybe I'm not well-versed enough in using XDA) but so far I haven't found anything here either. Running Derpfest 12 (build SQ1D.22205.004) and OrangeFox Recovery.
I've been wanting to know the answer to this for the last four years, although I don't think there is one. Am I wrong? Thanks in advance

You don't, weirdly enough, OnePlus removed the bootloader unlocked warning on devices that run OOS 12 and newer, not sure how they did it tho.

Doesn't look like OnePlus 6T has OOS 12 as of yet. I flashed OOS 11.1.2.2 from https://www.oneplus.com/global/support/softwareupgrade/details?code=PM1574156215016 prior to flashing https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...6t-with-updater-by-optimus-08-09-2022.4408737. Before that, I was on OOS 9.0.14 for like three years since I was too lazy to flash something newer, and I've yet to find a way to get rid of this very annoying warning and the few seconds boot delay associated with it

Oh, I know the 6T doesn't have OOS 12, and it never will get OOS 12, which is why I said "You don't" at the beginning of my previous comment, you can't remove the bootloader unlocked warning on OnePlus 6 series and older, you're SOL.
7 Series and newer can get the bootloader unlocked warning removed as they will be updated to OOS 12.

Yea sorry dude.
I assume OOS 12 and newer doesn't have a bootloader unlocked warning screen because OOS 12 is just ColorOS 12 with a different skin, Oppo phones run ColorOS, you cannot unlock the bootloader on Oppo devices, meaning, since you can't unlock the bootloader on Oppo phones, ColorOS doesn't include a Bootloader unlocked warning screen, and OnePlus just copied that over to OOS 12 and 13.
Maybe OnePlus adds it back with OOS 14, or maybe OnePlus is going to stop letting people unlock the bootloaders on newer devices? Who knows.
