i have this phone that has agood ime and when i factory reset when i try and set it up it keeps asking for gmail account this phone has never had a google acccount any help how get around this

Sorry if this is not an appropriate place to ask, but please let me know of somewhere more suitable if not.
I've got two google accounts bound to my N1. One is a google apps premier account (which I use for email sync) and a normal googlemail account (which I use for calendar and contacts sync).
I use Gtalk on my desktop PC's for the first account (premier apps) and not on the second one, however when I fire up Gtalk on my N1 it is using the second account and not the one I want! I have not found an option to change this behaviour.
Does anyone know how to change which account Gtalk uses on the N1?

Android will use the account you entered first. I entered my google apps account first then the gmail account and if I now try to remove the gmail account it says I can't. This is because android has bound the gmail account to the services not supported on google apps accounts.

Hm. I added my gmail account first and then the gapps one. I too found that if I try and remove an account it wants me to factory reset my phone and lose all data/config! This is pretty crappy.
I'm hoping someone can come up with a hack or something to change this behaviour regarding gtalk as I certainly don't want to reset my phone simply to get gtalk working.
I think a reset is the only way for now :-/
This is really poor. Google have slipped up somewhat with annoyances like this

My current workaround is to use the eBuddy application, which is working just fine.
Probably off topic, but has anyone had complaints from their regular buddies about the phone causing frequent disconnects/reconnects to their chat client? One of mine got so annoyed by the alerts that he has cut me off... (using pidgin with my primary gmail account)
(I'm guessing that it happens when I'm connected via wi-fi and voice calls come in... ? ) Does anyone have any settings suggestions for either 1) staying connected or 2) having it just wake up when needed?
I think you can go into Manage Applications in Settings, hit menu and then filter, then select All. Clear the data for Gapps and Gmail, and then reboot. If you do it right, it should ask you to login again like it did when you first turned your phone on. Login with whichever account you want to use Gtalk with.

A friend of mine owns a htc hero and he wanted to change the gmail account on his phone to a new gmail account he had created.
So he went to applications and did a clear data in the "google apps" and "gmail" applications..
After this, the old account was gone..
fine...
but now when we try to get him to sign in with the new account,
its just not working.
It tell us there is not a good connections to make the sync.
what makes it weird is that there is nothing wrong with the connection.
I can update apps, go to the browser and surf the web.
Also tried it using Wifi..
so the internet connection is just fine
but every time i enter an gmail account, it fails. (tried it via gmail, via market and google accounts)
i also dont see the data connection have much activity when its supposed to sync the account.
so at the moment, there is no gmail account connected to the phone...
anyone have any suggestions?
We want to keep the hard reset as a last resort..
rather avoid doing that if possible.

i have the same issues here...
Had logged on to gmail on my sony x10i, but unable to sign out. Every time I tap the gmail icon, i goes directly to my inbox. Cld someone let me know how to sign out of gmail completely
X10 seems lack option to forget the gmail account you register it with. I struggled with this the other day and couldn't find way. Ended up doing hard reset. My Milestone has an option to remove the existing google account. So it is either issue with Donut or simply SE removed it.
Randomly but frequently I get the email popup that askjs for my user name and password. I repeatedly enter it and click the svae box but it continues to pop up. It happened on the 2.10 ROM and now the 2.13 ROM. Any ideas on a fix???
I have deleted my yahoo email and set it up multiple times, tried a hard and soft reset.

I had that happen to my GMail Account. But I guess it was because it had a captcha lock on it. I do not know if Yahoo has that type of thing.
Can you login into yahoo on your pc?

Yes. With no problems. Even have Outlook get m yahoo email with no issues.
My Yahoo mail on my HD2 was working just fine until yesterday...now it won't synch at all and keeps giving me the following message:
"Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings" (which then takes me to the T-Mobile Data settings, which I never change and leave on default)
All other mail accounts (Hotmail, Gmail, etc) working just fine...
HELP??
Same thing with my HD2. My gmail and university email dont show, it syncs sometimes but does not download any mail(i can see the new emails on my computer but they dont show on the phone) but hotmail works just fine.
anybody found a solution? I tried deleting the account and setting it up again, doesn't work!!
alright my phone has been acting crazy stupid it won't let me sync my facebook contacts. Also I noticed google didn't sync all my contacts. So I went and deleted all of them by going to clear contacts under applications after that I went back and sync my gmail up noticed I needed to add some more so I decided to input them my self. Now when I press the+ button it gives me the message can't add contact no active account. If I do a factory reset will it mess with my webtop mod or brick my phone any help will be greatly appreciated
