Standby drain - Xiaomi Mi A1 Questions & Answers

Hey guys
So I've been experiencing higher than expected standby drain at roughly 1% an hour. Forcedoze hasn't been helping. I've also noticed that gsmarena review mentioned higher than expected standby drain. Has anyone got a workaround to reduce standby drain?

Thanks for the suggestion. As far as I can tell it's not app related. I've used Greenify in the past but haven't in a while and I don't see how it would help in this case

It's a bug of the update with patch of september.

As far as I could see, there's at least a battery drain bug related to wifi.
I discovered that my phone drained a lot of battery (in stand-by) while connected to (a specific) wifi hotspot.
Otherwise, I got almost no battery usage when connected to 4G network.
I'haven't tried any other hotspots yet, so I can't tell if it happens in every condition.
Cheers

Galaxy S6 Edge+ Battery Drains In Sleep Mode

Battery drain
Hi there,
im a proud owner of beautiful edge+ with a massive problem.
My battery goes bye bye in sleep hours 40 to 50%. I sleep 7 hours, my phone is at 75%..when i woke up, it was at 20%... the only thing i have on is the edge timer..power saving on and the not disturb on as well during sleep.
Im a recent guy on android..any help would be appreciated...i really don´t know how or what is draining the battery. It´s stock with google now launcher..pretty basic...
Another thing...why can´t i unnistall the messenger app (fb?)
Thanks in advance.
I also have a standby time drainage on my edge+. I would like to know how to prevent this. I've used package disabled but in the end, it didn't do much for my battery Drain.

If you are not rooted use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ospolice.packagedisablerpro
You can disable whatever you want.
Try to isolate the offending app or service.

Yes, the S6 Edge+ battery definitely drains fast in standby. I have the VZW variant. With my previous phones (Note 2, 3 and 4), the battery would drain about 1% per hour during standby while I was sleeping (w/ Wi-Fi on). My S6 Edge+ seems to drain at a rate of 5% per hour with Wi-Fi on. With Wi-Fi off, then the rate drops to 2%-3% per hour.
I'm amazed/jealous at my wife's iPhone 6 Plus. It literally has no standby battery drain. Go to sleep at 11pm and wake up at 6am...battery still at 100%.
I'm getting about 3.5 - 4 hours of SOT. Overall, my battery life is slightly worse compared to my Note 4. But I still really like the phone.
Not at All..
I also Owned this beautiful device..
5d+ standby and 1 hour Sot and 37% remaining
Not bad near me..

Hey. I recomend u arter97 kernel. It saves battery in deep sleep(7 hours screen off and drained %4 only). I think its better than stock kernel's..
I have battery drain only 5% with wi-fi off. If wi-fi is on than 20% drainage.

It's strange. With my Note 2-4, I had less battery battery drain with wi-fi on.
My egde+ runs about 1% each hour in standby with wifi on.
My phone is just out of the box no other apps installed.
I had the same problem, I installed JuiceDefender, it reduces the battery drainage.
I'm getting no drainage during sleep mode

[Question] How battery life really is on marshmellow?

hello,
i ordered a moto x play two days ago and i will get my device today or tomorrow. Now i am not sure if i should upgrade to marshmallow. Regarding to some posts here the battery life seems to suffer from the update. Is this true? Do you have the same battery life with 6.0 as with 5.1.1 ? For me battery life is kind of crucial. I chose the moto because of the good battery.
I'd love to know your opinion.
Thanx in advance.
Battery life seemed a bit lower on 6.0 than on Lollipop for a few days. Now, it's stabilized, and I'd say it's almost as good

No the battery performance hasn't gone down but has instead remained same or been better now.

It's been great for me. 7-8 hrs sot with stock kernel and now on track to get 10 with Squid kernel.
I get 10+ hours SOT . With stock mm.. dual sim and mobile data.
I usually play around with the autostarts app and titanium backup. I guess, i can root my device and i will then be able to optimize the phone i like with these tools.
Thanx for your answers. I still would like to get some more votes.
regards.
I think the only difference MM can make will be due to optimizing certain apps. Its sucha shame that google play services cant be optimized. I am finding its better than LP.
Offtopic - I had a S5 (g900h) with LP 5.0.1 stock and samsung had this optimization option which lead to an awesome battery life. This is why I believe that can be the only thing which can make it better
It depends on your usecase. If you are constantly on the phone, they won't differ much. If your phone is screen-off most of the time, Marshmallows Doze mechanism can save you a ton of battery life (assumping you jumpstart it with Naptime or similar). It could possibly be matched or even overcome if you REALLY fine tune a lollipop setup with Amplify, but from a technical standpoint doze is far better, because the OS controls when the device wakes up, not the apps themselves. Also, the most recent (best?) kernels will only be for MM.
Battery drains during standby mode. Overnight battery drops upto 3-5 % is it normal? I am on 5.1.1

2-3-4% is expected for 10 hour . see if location and wifi are turned on in advanced setting. it depends on the apps you are running. post screenshot.

That's absolutely great.
It means if 4 percent decreases in 8 hours it's about 1 percent in 2 hours. Me too has same result although in between 8 hours I took a 3 minute call and my alarm rung.

Agreed, also would be good if those who tried it can post a comparison about how much was lasting battery with 5.1.1 and now with 6.0 on same scenario (I mean apps, settings, etc)
befor update i think battery life getting better ,but after one night and a some program ,it's show only 22 hours battery life ,,,, hey sami what you think about batterylife .?
i totaly disapoint...
Installed French XEF yesterday at 15:00 (03:00PM)
Popped it off the charger at 16:00
Now : 08:00, the next day
43% charge
16h 8m on battery
1h 44m SOT
Maybe 2% loss overnight.
Disabled Google Apps and Samsung bloat via Settings => Applications
WIFI : ON
Location : GPS, WIFI and Mobile
Brightness : 25% + Auto
Turned OFF LTE : Only 3G speeds in my area
Action Launcher 3
There's not so much to do fellaz. We've got a 2500 mah battery giving juice to a monster cpu and monster useless display. These things swallow harder than sasha grey.

System calculate time left on battery based on your usage in 7 days, if you use it a lot then system will shows that you have short life of battery, if you use moderate or low, then you would see longer time of usage. So You should check your real time on battery, when you use in similar way than in on 5.1.1 and then compare to 6.0.1. For me at the moment i see much better battery performance.

Heavy use. 40-70% brightness about 1h more SOT than Lollipop.
The battery life for now is not so impressive, not more than L
One more thing to notice is that the battery fares better in wifi. But suffers a lot in Lte or in 3g mobile network. I get no more than 3 hrs of SOT when connected to mobile network in lollipop, but 4.5 to 5 hrs in wifi. Could anyone manage to get better battery in mobile network in MM?? The main battery suckers in network are google services and the annoying mobile radio active bug in lollipop. Are these two things fixed in MM touchwiz rom?? Confirmation is appreciated..

The doze feat is deff working. With WiFi on all night and apps open I lost 2%.
no sight of the R.A.B but some say they are exparience it.
How do you guys check whether Doze is actually working or not? Is there any specific part of the settings where I could check it?
Thanks!
By now your phone battery would have deteriorated for those who have had it a while that whatever gain MM has would be negligible.
For those of us who got it at release day, battery health would be about ~95%.

Indeed, but no one is asking for Xperia Z3 battery either, where I could get around 8+ hours SOT with Amplify, Greenify and a few other tweaks. I no we can't let the battery drop slower when using the phone, but the main complain is the standby drop, which would give us more SOT if we could lower it. Really, my phone should not use power on anything else than be ready for calls, text and else the apps I set it to, like Snapchat, Messenger and so on when in standby and you can get this with Amplify and Greenify. On 5.1.1 I managed to get around 0-1% drop over 8 hours of sleep, so as I got more standby time, I would eventually get more SOT too, which made the phone still last a day.
The problem now with the high standby drain is that you can't really feel a difference (might be kind of ironically here) between using the phone or having it in standby as it still drains hell a lot.
nothing has changed in marshmallow since 5.1.1 . I am using for 2 days. the battery consumption is the same as lollipop. (i did clean flash of france mm)
I've noticed App Optimisation is using 7% of my battery.... Cell standby 3% and Android system 8% with screen nicking 50%.
Seems good, but i'm disabling App Optimisation and comparing over the next few days.
Haven't experienced any drain from mobile or radio signals or any other bugs.

You mean its better App Opt to be off rather than On?

Moto G4 plus battery drain rate increased after nougat.

Brothers, on marshmallow, while using music, whatsapp, messenger & occasional browsing for an hour my battery would lose 13-14% charge. A week ago i updated to nougat. And now my battery drains 16% in 58 minutes while using messenger & whatsapp only. And moreover after 30%, on marshmallow, battery drain rate was 1% in 3-4 minutes. Now it is 1% per 2 minutes.
I have noticed the same. I notice that my standby draining is much more.

I have exactly the opposite. Much better standby drain than MM. full charge lasts upto 40 to 48 hours.
The comments on GSM Arena show battery drain on Nougat is common issue.

I switched off the bluetooth and now my battery life is better. I have a xiaomi mi band 2 that's why i used bluetooth on my device.
Sorry bad english
Nope battery drainage is same in my handset but turbocharging is slightly affected.
Any solution to it?

Poor battery life after November update

Hi guys,
Are you experiencing a poor battery life (both Screen on & Stand-by) after the last update?
Yes same here, about 10% battery loss in standby just within an hour of installing the update.
No such issue in update ,you need to calibrate your battery, sometime it is necessary to do it after update(not for everyone)
Download &install battery calibration app

Manual method of calibration
1)recharge your battery 100%& shut down, plug in charger it shows charged
2)power on phone plug in charger again it shows charged &just reboot
Enjoy
Apparently a simple restart worked for me

No, good battery life here.
you need a screenshoot ?
No issues here, battery life is same as before.
No problems here. Battery life is stunning.
Maybe you should wait and give it a change to settle?
confirm that the battery life is equal to or better than October? should I upgrade to November?
Don't see anything different, battery seems the same to me.
I don't get that update till now.

Yup.. am also facing the same issue
Someone please tell the max sot (screen on time) that they are getting after a full charge. Its better if someone can share screenshots.i am getting max 4 hrs sot but few users claiming that they are getting 7 hrs.Is my device faulty?
I get about 7 hrs or more depends on use, but currently @ 71% with 3 hrs SOT 2 of those hours were spent on gaming. Brightness at about 25% WiFi always on.
