Huawei P8 GRA-L09 Double Tap to Wake - Huawei P8 Questions & Answers

Hi,
GRA-L09 running B398 and "for the life of me" I cannot get double tap to wake working.
I have all the pertinent options set on and still no luck, once I press the power button to wake it, all my knuckle gestures work, but double tap is ignored with screen off.
I have searched for hours but cannot find any fix, so all suggestions gratefully received.
TIA.

Does the trigger turn on correctly?
Or it turns off as soon as you touch it?
Everything works normally, except touching it twice.
Okay, let's try to understand what's going on with the touch.
In the developer options turn on "show touches".
In fact, double tap to wake also works when you want to turn off the screen (by the lockscreen).
So press the lateral button to turn on the screen, and double tap.
You should see your tap with a little white circle.
Try out and let us know what you see.

Always on Display Question

Is there any way to remove the "Hard Press or double tap the Home button to turn on the screen" message? I am a little tired of being constantly reminded of something I already know
under lock screen settings, remove the home button from lock screen

Already did that but the message is still there...
Worked it out - the message was a residual tutorial message (i.e. the phone wanted to teach me about the Always On Display, and kept the message active until I followed the prompts). Having now obeyed, it has stopped hassling me.
Thanks
Thank you. I had the same issue and it was getting annoying. I had the home button turned off on always on display. I had to turn it back on then follow the tutorial and it worked.

Menu, Wake questions

Just got my Mediapad M3 the other day. I do like it, although I don't think I care for EMUI.
I've been fiddling around with this thing for 24 hours now and have two quick questions.
I feel dumb for asking, but how do you access the menus? When I use Naked Browser on my other phone, I press the 'Menu' button to open NB's menu and access its settings. However, there's no menu button on the M3, and I can't find away to get to NB's settings.
Also, is there a way to wake the M3 without having to press the 'Power' button? This doesn't sound like it would be that big of a deal, but I work at a desk and receive 20-40 emails per day. My current phone allows me to double tap the screen to wake it, which is so much more convenient than having to press the power button.
Thanks in advance, guys!
You could use a cover with magnetic auto wake up functionality for example.
Set up the fingerprint scanner and use it to wake the screen

Problem with Zenmotion

Hey guys, i just updated by Ota and have faced a big issue with the double tap to wake up feature. It doesn't work at all, though the double tap to turn off screen work, idk. Been trying restaring, turn it on/off but no help. Anyone got the same problem? And how to fix it? Thanks for reading!
Yes, mine gets wake up double tap problem after updated to 323

having issues with double tap to wake is anybody else

Basically I double tap to wake my screen it vibrates but the screen stays black, I have to usually hit the power button a few times to get the screen to come back on. It's not a once in a while thing I'd say it's happening about 70-80% of the time. I'm on OOS 9.0.12
No issue on mine running 9.0.13 but equally was fine on 9.0.12

Weird don't know what it's deal is
I've had issues with double tap to wake since I got the phone soon after it was released. Not exactly the same as what you're experiencing. Often when I tap to wake the screen it doesn't respond at all. No vibration. Sometimes if I tap again it will wake, sometimes it won't no matter how many times I try & I have to hit the power button. I've only used the official stable releases and none of the updates have fixed this.

Thats what I get from time to time as well. Not often, just randomly...
I have this issue when the phone is in deep sleep and Smart Lock has engaged. I'm trying to running a routine that prevents Smart Lock from engaging and I've been partially successful in that. Due to the aggressive app and process killing of this phone, ordinarily Smart Lock will engage on average between 1 and 2 hours in my experience.
When the phone is not in deep sleep, double tap works just fine. I'm running OxygenOS, Pie, update 12, rooted.
