Different versions, which version? - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

I was planning to buy a new phone next January but unfortunately my fantastic Mate 8 decided to die prematurely.
I'm looking to buy a new replacement and I was thinking about the OnePlus 5 8G/128G however I need to understand the difference between different versions.
I have found the A5000 that seems to be much cheaper compare to the international version, why?
I live in Europe, UK - would that version be ok?
Thanks!

Oneplus 5 with 6gb of RAM and 64gb of memory
Oneplus 5 with 8gb of RAM and 128gb of memory
That's all.

They are all A5000.
There's an international one and a Chinese one, but both are the same. Only difference being the software.

As mentioned and as you could search, there are no differences other than memory/storage.
Some versions come with HydrogenOS, some come with OxygenOS. It is just a matter of flashing the other OS to switch, which can be done by simply downloading the ROM and going to system update in the settings.. There are no hardware differences.

Is there international veriosn?

[Q] UK 64gb Note 3 variant

I know there is a thread identical to this but for North America, but we are different markets, same question!
Does anybody know when/if the 64gb version will be available in UK? I have called the carriers and no one seems to be able to give me an answer. The 32gb version is listed on most unlocked phone retailers but again, no mention of the 64gb version.
I want this phone to last a good few years, and with the size of games / videos ever increasing I wanted to get the highest capacity version.
Any news?
Tough to say, the US will likely never see it, but in the UK you have a better shot at it than we do. But still you may have to import it and will at least get a usable phone in your part of the world.

Differences in the Model Numbers?

Hello,
I was looking to get one of these phones but because Amazon UK has ran out of Axon 7s I had to look else where. While I was looking I found Aliexpress, I have brought things off there before while looking for cheap keyboards so this is not my first time.
At first I thought there was just 2 types, the EU/US type which has the same ish hardware while the chinese one is different because it china only.
But after a few hours I have found that all 3 different model numbers have different LTE bands. This was not a problem as my network (UK EE), supported the bands.
BUT THEN... I found that some versions of the phones has on scree buttons while the other ones have capacitive buttons.
Can someone please just clear this up for me.
Which phone and which model number belongs to which region and what are the pros and cons of each of these?
Also, anyone found a way to install the US rom on the EU phone or the EU rom on the China phone? or any other combonation of these? I might want to install a custom rom in the future or get rid of the volume thing on the EU model.
There are 3 variants A2017 - China A2017G -Europe/Global and A2017U for the United States. I'm no expert but from what I've found in my research before buying the device is that essentially on a hardware level all 3 are almost similar. The China version i suppose has capacitive + onscreen . The EU version of the phone is of slight variance from the China version. US version has CDMA support.
The main differences are on a software level with ROMs that are different for each region. The most preferable is the US version with much better support from ZTE considering they are trying to pamper that market. I would suppose based on how things currently look, EU will be behind the pack till we get a bootloader unlock and that will usher in custom ROM dvelopment.
Note that the official ROMs cannot be interchanged among models mainly due to modems being different. Maybe once custom ROM's are made they might be, not the official ZTE ones. If you are in the UK, i'd recommend buying the version meant for UK/EU and don't get yourself into the hassle of a model meant for China unless you looking for the 6GB RAM/128GB version and know your way around rooting/flashing et al. Another factor you would want to consider is warranty. Aliexpress phones can be considered having none. I read somewhere that you get 3 years for the UK/EU one so why not wait for that
Hopefully someone corroborates or corrects whatever i stated above, whichever is necessary . I hope this helps!

UK is meant to drop in Q4(like now...), I'll give it a few more weeks before buying one.
Also, does anyone here who is a dev know if 6gb/4gb and 64/128gb will change rom compatibility?

The official website did sell the global version and sold out quite immediately. I had tried to buy through the website, didn't got it, but I believe the stock must be very limited. So the seller might be one of the lucky one. However with limited stock I think the price will be quite high

I came across one the other day. It's the real thing. ROMs are a bit tricky for it though.
I've already received it. I'm in Germany and ordered via Gearbest.
Is this the cheapest option right now for the global 128GB version? €400 excl customs. http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/...251.html?wid=4

Please advise..ZTE axon 7 6GB 128GB

Hello
Today my moto x pure dead ....?
I want your help to choose between oneplus 3t and axon 7 6GB 128GB version
Where can i buy zte phones online i didnt find 6gb version on amazon.com
And should i buy unlocked version right ? I live in saudi arabia
Is this phone better than oneplus 3t
Is the OS come with bloatware??
Plz help me
You can only buy the 6gb "enhanced" version directly from ZTE, from my understanding. Make sure the wireless bands are compatible with your country.
The Oneplus 3T and Axon 7 are very similar in specs. Axon 7 has much better audio, slightly better screen, and SD card support. The 3T has a better software development community if you enjoy custom ROMs. I'd say those are the main differences.

Thanx but zteusa.com told me they stop selling axon 7 enhanced version ...they making new device and it will be rady this summer ...what should i do now ...wait or go to oneplus 3t ?
Any reason you have to have the enhanced version? The standard Axon 7 supports up to 128gb micro SD. You won't notice a difference between 4gb and 6gb or RAM as no app uses that much memory. You'll be pushing it to use up 2gb or RAM.
Personally I'd find a good deal on a Axon 7 or wait for the new phones to be announced in the coming months and go from there. I'm not sure how quickly you need a new phone.

You don't really need the 6gb. The OP3 was rumored not to use those extra 2GB and no one noticed for a long time. The SD821 is pretty much the same as the SD820 that the Axon packs, taking thermal throttling into consideration. And you can use SD cards, true too.
If the new device they were talking about is the axon Max thing you probably should not wait, unless you don't care much about how the thing looks...
The reason why i want enhanced version that i dont want to buy new phone every year ..atleast 2-3 years
And if my moto didnt dead accidently i will not change it until next year
So that i want the powerfull phone with good price
Actually i need SD card option very much ..beacause of this feature in moto x i didnt loose my files when my phone dead and i restore every thing to my temporary phone also phone sound on moto x pure is very good as it had 2 stereo speakers..and i think the zte also have good speaker too
6GB of ram its for future .. as u see all apps now growing and eat too much memory like snapchat and facebookand also im using my phone to record youtube video and edit it then uplode it to my channel
If u have link to enhanced version i will be appreciate...i didnt buy from ebay before as i dont trust seller thair so if u found good deals on ebay or other site plz post the link here
Thank you Guys
6 gb of RAM îs only for market sales only. Not for a few years from now 6 gb will not be used.
There îs not a single software țo ușe 6 gb beside benchmark software

I understand your worries and concerns, but trust me they are unfounded. The only reason why android phones went to 4GB was for 64 bit capabilities. 6GB of RAM is completely uncalled for, as shown by Samsung when they only put 4GB of RAM in the new S8 (After the Note 7 flop they were not about to hold anything back in an attempt to show it's fan base that Samsung is still good). Don't worry about it, just buy the Axon 7. You will not regret it. 4GB of RAM is plenty, and that won't change anytime soon.
Thank you guys i think i will go with your advise☺
Did this version ok for me
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01F...zte+axon+7&dpPl=1&dpID=51PpzAlitpL&ref=plSrch

Le Pro 3 x720 worth buying ?

Hello everyone ! I'm considering buying a new phone since mine is almost dead. I saw le pro 3(x720) for less than 200€ that is a great price for snapdragon 821 with band b20 support ( in Europe it is somehow a deal breaker).
So I came up here to ask you guys about then customs ROM support and stability with Microg. I don't use gapps and other fancy google apps. I saw that the camera is OK so I'm ok with that but I saw that there ia some inconsistency with battery life and SOT ? So in your opinion, x720 worth buying or is better to go with other brand with couple of bucks more ?
Look at the custom ROM section of this forum and see if you're satisfied.
I don't know what your use case is, but I think LeEco phones are great... as long as they've got official LeEco ROMs on them. Sellers like Banggood/Gearbest/Geekbuying put shop ROMs on most of the LeEco devices they sell which don't pass SafetyNet. Plus the build quality of phones from these sellers can be quite iffy.
Get a phone from HongKong-Goldway on Aliexpress if you're looking for a new Chinaphone. They do VAT-free shipping to Europe and they're super careful about ROMs. Just beware that, if there's a hardware defect returning the phone will be a pain. Also, always pay with PayPal in case something goes wrong (in this case avoid Aliexpress).
If you want to go with the LeEco Pro 3 and need native SafetyNet passing without Magisk, get the x727 U.S. model. If you don't care for SafetyNet, the x720 is the only Pro3 model with custom ROMs. Avoid the x722. Personally, I'd go with Xiaomi because they've not gone bankrupt like LeEco has. The Xiaomi ROM community is super active. Now even LeEco's main site hosting their official ROMs is down.
Thanks for superfast reply I've been through the android development section and we do have a lot of choice in custom rom ! Sure Xiaomi est sure value but they lack multiple bands over LTE network. In Europe, B20 and B28 (recently) are massively used outside of cities so a phone without b20 will be a handicap. Since, i'll be travelling in Europe, b20 is deal breaker.
I don't use google apps (even maps), or any other apps that needs safetynet so i don't care a lot !
In the meantime, I was also considering 1+5 but it's out of stock :'(

I'd say wait until Black Friday, when many stores will be having sales. Is this going to be a secondary phone or your main phone? I guess the x720 would make for a decent daily driver as long as you get it from a legit source. Don't get the 32GB version since there's no SD card slot (even 32GB is way too little in this day and age). Sadly the x727 doesn't have band 20. Since you don't need SafetyNet, flashing LineageOS on the x720 would be your ideal choice.
Quite a few Xiaomi phones have band 20, like the Note 4X (Snapdragon 625). Do explore all of your options before making a final decision.
