Flashing the official 7.0 Nougat on XT1575 (6.0, rooted, BL unlocked, TWRP, Xposed)? - X Style (Pure) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have a Moto X Pure Edition (XT1575) running stock 6.0 Marshmallow w/ December 2016 update.
Android 7.0 Nougat has rolled out for XT1575. But I didn't receive it.
As my phone have bootloader unlocked, rooted, custom recovery (TWRP) installed and XPOSED installed too.
Is there any ways to flash the official Android 7.0 Nougat OTA using TWRP? Or any other methods?
Thanks

This has been discussed. Please search and read. You will get answers for all of your questions.

I've been trying to figure out the exact same thing. everything I've read says that you need to remove root, downgrade, take OTA's, then re-root. Seems extremely complicated and counter-intuitive. If you find a solution please let me know.

It is in the second post on Moto X Pure homepage... But, in case you missed it https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/general/guide-xt1575-update-to-nph25-200-22-t3680477 Follow this exactly and you'll have Nougat.

I wish somebody with more knowledge than i would create a stock 7.0 rom for the people that don't want total stock. I would love to but I totally admit I am no Dev. Lol as I think it would be a popular rom and from what I've seen quite a few people would love to download and install a package like that.

Yes? There are several threads here with instructions to update modified devices... OP just needs to search a little.
I need too

From Marshmallow build 1.0.0B29 to Nougat or Oreo rooted?

Hi everyone, I did some research before posting this but I haven't found a solid answer
Is it possible for me to Upgrade from Marshmallow version to Nougat or Oreo, and keeping Root? I have an unlocked bootloader
here are my details
Model: 2017U
Android version: 6.0.1
Build number: A2017UV1.0.0B29
Thanks!
This should probably but in Q&A, but yes.
Grab the boot stack and system from DrakenFX's full updates thread, then in twrp flash bootstack, system, then root. I use magisk for root but you can also use SuperSU.
You probably want B32 for N. Oreo isn't ready yet.

Checking bootloader version on the phone

Hi, how do I check my current bootloader version that is on my phone? And how do i know what version of bootloader will be in any stock rom i want to flash?
I don't want to overwrite with older bootloader. Need to know the current and the next one i will flash.
My device is from Europe and I have NPN25.137-92 installed.. I think this is not the latest stock nougat for my region.
Cheers.

No need to push your question everyday. If someone is able/wants to answer he will do.
First of all: NPN25.137-92 is not the European firmware, it's the one for India and Brazil.
The latest one in Europe seems to be NPN25.137-93-14, since yesterday there is another update with version number NPN25.137-93-18 out incl. August security patch but until now only US users (software channel RETUS) have confirmed it. For India/Brazil (your firmware) the latest Nougat firmware is NPN25.137-92-14.
Have you fastboot flashed some firmware on your device so that you are on NPN25.137-92 now? That could be the reason you don´t receive any further OTA updates.
Your bootlader version should be visible when you boot into stock recovery.
Yes, I must have flashed pretty wrong firmware, and now I want to get back on the track. Though I dont remember and I dont have knowledge what was flashed before that. Now I wonder what should be my next step in order to have latest European nougat, or oreo.

Flash latest european firmware NPN25.137-93-14 via fastboot. It can be found somwhere here in the Moto G 5+ threads or you can download it with Lenovo Smart Assistant: https://support.lenovo.com/de/de/downloads/ds101291
That should keep you back on track.
If you can't wait you can update to Oreo with the available OTA found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5...fficial-moto-g5-g5-plus-t3848246/post77856408 ( Read OP of that thread to find out how). But as I posted above there's a newer nougat firmware out in the US so you may not receive future Oreo updates if you use this OTA.

Need an advice: I'm currently on POTTER_NPNS25.137-93-10, OTA says i can update it to POTTER_NPNS25.137-93-14.. Then I could get Oreo OTA from the thread above. In case of any further trouble: will it be safe to return to nougat POTTER_NPNS25.137-93-10 via fastboot? If yes, if then I update again to POTTER_NPNS25.137-93-14, it is safe to take nougat OTA again? And then oreo OTA again? Hope you get my point.

No, that's not safe. Downgrading is always a risky thing because of the bootloader and taking OTA after that could completely hardbrick your phone.
So if you're once on 93-14 you shouldn't flash an older firmware than this. Same applies to downgrading from Oreo to Nougat.

Well, in case of firmware, I cannot find direct 93-14 fastboot rom for download. I have found 93-10 only, that's why I'm concerned about not having the most up to date rom version on my hard drive to flash in case of<>.

bootloader unlock Can You Receive Updates via Ota or No?

I am curious about these issues, my question is the following when I unlock my Bootloader I can do an update via OTA when it arrives on my device? Or is my phone going to have Hard Brick?
I want to give a Downgrande on my smartphone but it is still in stock without any modification. And through the tutorials I read ask for the unlock Bootloader. My intention is to only downgrade. A friend of mine gave the following idea: "unlock the bootloader to then downgrade and after it has been successfully done." I search how to lock the bootloader again using CMD to put a system with the bootloader locked and so in the future I will be able to receive updates via Ota. " Does This Worker Ideas In Practice?
This my Frist Post here If I make a mistake, tell me, we will not repeat.:fingers-crossed:
When it comes to being able to receive updates when bl is unlocked, that's a yes, it will work fine and won't affect your phone's functionality.
On the other hand downgrading is generally a bad idea. The problem is, when you update your phone your bootloader also gets an update. All parts of the OS except for the bootloader can be downgraded to a previous version, and if you do that, the downgraded OS can function normally on the newer bootloader.
Now comes the tricky part. If you try to do an OTA on a downgraded OS with a new bootloader, the OTA will treat the bootloader as if it were the old one, and will overwrite parts of it that it shouldn't, which will corrupt it. And there you have a pricey paperweight.
The only way of updating a downgraded device is to flash it clean with a newer version (or the version same as the bootloader).
Now what is the reason you'd want to downgrade?
After Unlocked Bootloader You Can't Get OTA Updated Even You Relock Bootloader ., tested On Moto G5s
Model X1795
However During try to Relock or downgrade Oreo 8.1 to 7.1.1 You May Get Complete Dead Your Phone as my phone goes During downgrade .

My bootloader is unlocked.
I wanted to upgrade to the latest firmware and because I was rooted I flashed the firmware I was on at that moment (no down - or upgrade) again and after that I was able to apply and install every single OTA up to the latest. I could have flashed the latest Oreo firmware directly too but I wanted to test this way and to update by flashing latest firmware would have been possible after that too.
So updating via OTA with an unlocked bootloader was no problem for me.
In the end you get the unlock code from Motorola itself and it would be kind of strange if they won't deliver updates anymore for a feature they provide for their devices.

Moto G4 Amz Version

Hello, i would like to ask here if someone has the same issue, i had a fully working Moto G4 AMZ Version Running Nougat, however after waiting too much and the oreo version never was released, i wanted to try to flash the firmware and update it via rsd lite with oreo version, however this resulted in my phone bricked, i tried some ways to downgrade again to nougat however i was not able since it is not possible to downgrade to stock amz firmware once i had updated it with wrong version of 8.0, so may i ask if after maybe 1 year is there any advance or release for the 8.0 amz version firmware? i think the only solution for this is to send the device back to motorola, but i will ask first here any other ideas?
Thank you in Advance
Henser.
Use lenovo save and rescue to unbrick your phone.
I’ve tried installing stock moto G4 Android 8.1 and no luck. This is with boot loader unlocked, custom kernel and root. No luck.
same issue, i try from time to time to recover the device with no luck, still waiting for a solution with bootloader locked
