J500FN cant connect to network - Samsung Galaxy J5 Questions & Answers

Hi!
I just bought a Galaxy J5 2015 (J500FN ). The phone is not registering to network. The seller said that they tried to insert an "incompatible" sim card, and after that, the phone could never register on network again. I have no idea what they actually did with it.
- I thougt that the problem is with the sim holder on the motherboard. It looks fine, no problems. Every pin to connect to the sim card is in its place and i resoldered it to the motherboard to secure the connection.
- APN settings are fine too
- IMEI is showing and correct
- Tried to search for a solution in google and youtube, non of the "traditional" ways did anything.
- Updated/downgraded the original firmware with Odin
-Installed TWRP and AOSP EX (the phone was never rooted before)
-I downloaded SIM toolkit from play store and it can handle the sim card. I can see every info, just like in my working Xiaomi Redmi 1S. I can even add and delete contacts to the sim card.
- Tried with multiple sim cards
The phone is still cannot connect to my network provider. Do you have any idea what is going on with this phone?

[Q] I need help with my touch 3G Tmobile

Hello Everybody ,
Let me shortly describe my problem and maybe some one can help me,
I would like to mention from the beggining that I have read a lot of post and how to's on this forum and on the internet and did not find a solution for my problem.
Here it goes:
I have a MT3G 32B Board unlocked and free to use on which network I want,
I live in Romania,Europe.
I have reseted the phone and now comes the horrible part, I have to sign in or create a google account, I have tried to do both with several sim cards that have data plan available but it did not work at all, it says that I do not have data plan active
I would like also to mention that I cannot get a Tmobile sim to activate the phone ,T-mobile doesn't have a branch in my country.
After a lot of reading I saw that I could skip the google registration if I instal some custom rom's that have this option(please give an example of such a rom), but to do that I need to root my phone,
Rooting the phone requires at some point to acces the phone's menu , what I can not do because I cannot pass the google registration.
So could someone give me a solution for this problem or a link or something how to root or update my androids firmware without accesing the menu????
You need to add the APN settings for whatever carrier your using a SIM card from. From the Google log-in you should be able to press the "Menu" button and access the APN list from there. Google "APN settings *insert carrier here*" and use whatever settings you find.
This is what needs to happen, I just can't remember if you can access the APN list from the sign-in menu with the stock ROM.
If you can't do what DonJuan692006 suggested, then you need to provide the fastboot info.
Also run this command from fastboot mode (back + power).
Code:
fastboot getvar version-main
We can take it from there...
Thaks for the answer, did that But still it doesn't work, I would like to mention that I have copied the exact settings from the phone's from where I got the sim cards with data plan
What carrier are you using and where did you get the APN settings from? (Please provide a link)
I use orange Romania, and I got the setting from a DEsire HD and Motorola milestone from the settings menu, this phones have data plan active
So you pulled the SIM out of one of those phones, put it in your myTouch, copied the APN settings from one of those phone's the the myTouch? Just want to make sure I'm following you.
NO, I have written down first the settings, because if you pull the sim out they do not appear anymore, put the sim in the MT3G, put in manually the APN inside the phone, and that's it , and it does not work.
Did you try rebooting the myTouch after you put in the APN and the SIM card?

phone lags on 2.2.1 while using vodfone - cant use my phone from the past 2 weeks

ok... i know i've posted alot about this.... bt this is like a mega thread which will give every detail..
specifications before the problem:-
wildfire 2.1 -
8gb kingston class 2 -
uninor (India)(network provider) -
[bought the phone and used my vodafone card till like 1 month then switched to uninor]
i was using the stock rom(but rooted) till dec 20th
The problem:-
When the froyo update came out i installed danne_jo's safe flashable version of the stock rom ... no problems with that... then tried the wildpuzzle 0.6..no problem with that either..bt i switched back to my vodafone card in the 1st week of jan(due to connectivity issues on uninor)...thats when all the problems started... the moment i switched on the data connection... my phone would just freeze..if not immediately then when im surfing or using an app that connects to the internet...or any high memory app...even the home and back buttons would stop giving me vibrations even though i had overclocked my phone to 691/254-710/254 MHz (performance mode)....i continued trying to fix it for 2 days...then got my sim replaced... no luck even der... the phone hangs even with the new card... tried other vodafone sim cards(mother's , brother's, friend's)... the same result everytime...bt when i put my uninor simcard in my phone.... everything works great... even the data connection.... so i started posting on the forum... got great help from 3xeno and daddyspud... they told me to do different tests so that they could pinpoint the problem...this is what all i did and their results
** phone works fine if i have the data connection switched off... no problem using wifi or bluetooth, also it works fine when i dont have any apps installed...
1. flashed the 2.1 RUU and rooted the phone again (2 times)- no change
2. tried different roms - again the same result
3. the sim works fine on stock(atleast better..)
4. everytime the uninor sim worked fine without any lags or freezes
5 . even tried different radios..bt no luck even after that
conclusions i drew from all this:-
1) first i thought that it was coz of apps2sd as its not recommended to use a class 2 card...bt then y does it work fine with the uninor sim in it...??? (weird right??)... and even if it was then how could apps2sd be affected by sim card or data connection??
2) then i thought that it might be because of the network.. bt i confirmed with 3xeno...coz he's also a vodafone customer in India and doesn't face this problem...
3) then i thought that it was coz of froyo...bt 3xeno again confirmed that it wasn't the problem..
4) talked at HTC customer center... they told me to do a hard reset i.e. HBOOT>clear storage
5) then yesterday i jus remembered that once when i was messing around with my phone i had clicked the SIM LOCK option in the HBOOT menu(i was using the uninor sim at that time)..bt according to me nothing happened because every line that came after that ended with the word 'failed'.. i also read a thread on the same.. and it said that it didnt coz any problem if u accidentally clicked on that ...
link to that thread:- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765420
... bt 3xeno thinks that, it's the source of the problem, and i pretty much do agree to it coz everythings pointing towards that only
* there's also something i'd like to bring to notice... today i installed wildpuzzle v0.8(cache on phone by default).. my phone performed better..bt still did hang......
* Also... when i change my sim cards... i get a notification saying" sim card changed... change the following settings?" which include bookmarks, etc.. nothing major.. it gives 3 options 1.yes 2. no,later 3.no....
now i seriously dont know what the problem is..3xeno thinks its coz of the sim lock stupidity i did..... coz i've tried everything in my knowledge to fix this, i've busted my brains out, sleepless nights sitting in front of my laptop, waititng 4 someone to reply to my posts,i'm really tired, bt im in no mood to give up..... plz its my request to all the devs and anyone who can help me to plz atleast look into this problem...
Thanks to anyone and everyone who have already helped me and are goint to help me!!!!!
common guys!!!! not even a single reply..... plz help me!!!

see the problem you are having is something that is not so common and the second thing is that you have the full knowledge of flashing custom roms aswell as shipped roms.. and since you have tried all the possible methods there might me some defect in your device, that is what i think....
anyways .. i hope you find the answer to your problem.... best of luck
Just a very basic idea - i'm far from beeing a dev.
But it looks to me that your phone thinks (at least partial) that it is simlocked. Can't you try to unlock it using a goldcard and see what it gives?
Don't know how to create such a card or if it would work - it is just an idea.
Erwin
i read the gold card procedure( http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/ )... bt the thing that i dont understand is what to do after i create the gold card??? also i've got 2 SD cards... one of 512 mb...with this card i reach the end of the procedure bt fail as the card requires formatting... and the other card is sandisk 8gb class 2... with that i cannot get ahead of the 'cat' command.. as it gives me no such file found...

Strange, I just did the same thing, and it works well with me.. sure you didn't mistype it?
I believe that, if you've successfully created a gold card, you can put it in your phone (perhaps reboot?), connect your phone to the computer with usb debugging enabled and than you are allowed to flash any RUU.
But I beleve that is the weak point of my solution: you have already tried (and succeeded) in flashing a RUU (which would not work if your simlocked, I beleve).
But you have nothing to lose, so you can try I think. I have no other ideas than that.
Succes!

[Q] Invalid sim card with a rooted GS5 SM-G900R4

Ok guys and girls I am pretty new at rooting a phone and the only reason I did was to see f I can use this Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900R4 from US Cellular. I called Samsung and was told to call US Cellular to find out how to use the phone on another network. US Cellular told me that the simcard reader would not read a sim card from another carrier. I installed my working Net10 sim card and the phone sys invalid sim card and does not ask for an unlock code, it just continues to say invalid sim card and I obviously have no network. I rooted the phone with CF-Auto Root and everything went well and SuperSU is installed. Phone still says invalid sim card and will not give me a network. I know settings can be changed with a rooted phone but don't know how to change these settings to make the phone use my network sim card. I use Net10 and he sim card works in my Galaxy S2 but I would very much like to use my new S5 phone. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

Check if your phone is sim locked by using secret code *#7465625#
Or install Phone INFO ★Samsung★ app > Menu > 'Secret Codes' > 7465625 and tap 'Launch 0' to launch (root required).
I believe it is, it says
Network Lock
Network Subset Lock
SP lock
CP Lock

[Q] what does sprint unlock means

Hi
I have a Sprint Galaxy S4 and I try desperately to put sim cards from other carriers and foreign (French) sim cards but nothing works. I always get a guy's voice saying something like "your account has not been authorized for this type of call"
I have done all the possible "unlocking" of the phone, but I'm not sure what it really means:
-I have made the procedure where you get to the hidden "service menu" type "debug screen>network lock>..." (btw my SHA256 was already off, whatever it means. No change here.) (I had to downgrade the radio)
-I have successfully done what was indicate in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2415587 with the "unlock" software, at that point the phone was not saying "invalid sim card" anymore (thanks, Autoprime!)
-I have rooted my phone, clean installed a new rom (I put negalite, quite cool)
-I have obtained my unlock code from Sprint, but I've never been able to use it. If I type ##
Code:
# I get to a menu where I prefer not touch anything
I don't know how to make sure that my phone is able to support GSM. How can I be sure? It has a SIM card slot but I'm not sure what that means (and on Sprint the phone works without the sim card). I'm going to Singapore in one month and I would have liked to use local sim cards.
That's a lot of questions! But I'm really lost here, and I don't see any post that seem to help me...
Thanks

Redmi 4 PRO asks me to unlock SIM code

Good,
I have been around for 3 weeks with this "big" terminal. Until yesterday, it has been working perfectly. Suddenly when I turn it on I get the following message:
Type unlock SIM
It is as if the terminal had stopped being free and needed to be released, I tried to put the SIM in both slots (MicroSIM and NanoSIM) and the same thing, I have also tried to insert the SIM of another provider with identical result. I put the same cards in another phone (MI4) and they work perfectly.
The terminal I bought it in the store Gerbeast and comes with the global ROM 8.1.2.0 (MBEMIDI), has not given me time to unblock it or anything, this is how I take it out of the box.
Does anyone know or know what this may be because of this and how to solve it?
Regards!!

Just give it your MI account password and it will unlocked. It's a security measure by MI, which is required when you change sim card.
